Sirisena Makes Eleventh Hour Move: Postpones Meeting With UNF Party Leaders And Decides To Meet UPFA MPs

President Maithripala Sirisena, currently under enormous pressure to resolve the current political crisis, postponed his meeting with the party leaders of the United National Front (UNF) scheduled for tonight at the Presidential Secretariat, at the eleventh hour.

Sirisena

The UNF party leaders were informed at the last moment that the President could only meet them tomorrow at 8 PM . Sources close to the President told Colombo Telegraph that Sirisena has scheduled a meeting for UPFA MPs tonight to discuss the current political crisis.

All Ceylon Makkal Congress Leader Rishad Bathiudeen, who did not receive the announcement of the cancellation on time, even arrived at the Presidential Secretariat around 7 PM today to attend the meeting. He was informed at the entrance of the Secretariat that Sirisena had decided to postpone the meeting.

All UNF party leaders who attended the meeting with Sirisena on Friday night were invited for the meeting. The meeting on Friday ended abruptly after Sirisena told the group that he did not intend to re-appoint UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister. The UNF MPs, at that point, decided to meet Sirisena on Sunday, with a fresh set of proposals to resolve the current political deadlock.

Despite Sirisena’s objections, The United National Party (UNP) on Friday informed the President and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader R. Sampanthan in writing that Wickremesinghe would be the party’s nominee for the Prime Minister’s post.

With 14 TNA MPs pledging support to UNP’s nominee for the Prime Minister’s position, Wickremesinghe now officially commands the support of 117 MPs in Parliament. All UNP MPs, at the parliamentary group meeting earlier this week, unanimously decided to back Wickremesinghe as the party’s nominee for the Prime Ministerial post.

Sririsena contested under “Hansaya” symbol, therefore who ever voted him has utter right to questioned him on his unethical move of appointing MR as PM. Sirisena.. This guy is going incense stupidity that leads to deadlock on any feasible solution.. Sirisena is being spoiled by SB, Gammanpila, WW, Bandual, MR,NR , they know very well that sirisena must scarifies for them to survive… So UNF has two choices one his show the public power or appoint another as PM and take the power

      Dear Sirisena,
One thing is sure that is you will never and ever face people in any elections once you removed from power. You are almost like a dead body, not a single person will come to send you the last respect when you die.

      He has never been consistent.
So if anyone would think the guy would ever been consistent being bound to the words his cesspit drops down, pigs might fly.

This man’s behaviour is highly damaging lanken democracy as no times in the past.

Tomorrow or in 2 days, there will be any representatives from UNO visting the country since they have been worrying about growing political crisis in the country.

All thanks go to MOST abusive spineless SIRISENA.

Bring an impeachment at least now before he plays more drama ( unp guys are too slow. They even not aware at all when sirisena threw them out of the government. This is poor intelligence within in the group ). Ranil needs to be flexible here. Because of his arrogance unp did not had a unp president since 1994 ( almost 24years ) and only had 2 year and 3 year government during his leadership. The floating voter base has grown day by day and so it will be not easy in future elections to convince these voters with a very poorly performing leader like Ranil.

    Sirisena,

You are truly performing to the titles you have earned. They are Traitor, Quisling, Sevalaya, Mala-Perethaya, Patholaya, Pachaya etc. During the 1978 debate on the new constitution on the executive presidency, the late Dr. N M Perera said that the country would be in Peril, if a Madman becomes president. Sadly, you are proving the prescient prediction of Dr. Perera.

Our president’s integrity is getting worse day by day. Our Grama Nildhari is better than him in keeping the promise alive. The country is run as a saloon or worse than that.No rule of law. As citizens of this country we must be ashamed of the present day political dramas enacted by MS-MR combine.
Today we hear Vasu saying whatever the verdict we get from the SC on the 7th Dec, they would not part with the Govt. and premiership. So, why there is parliament and why there is constitution for this country? Are we living in a civilized world or still in primitive style of living?
UNF should take responsibility for this ugly situation for having chosen MS as their common candidate in 2015. Didn’t they have suspicion about a man who had been in a party for more than 40 years and break line with the man who gave him ministerial post and join the foray to attack the same party and the then president?

MaRa, the Proverbial Buffalo in Sri Lanka – the King rejected by the Parliament and People several times is behind this move. Why not MaRa go back to Madamulana Paddy Fields and perform his job

Occasionally he can raise his head from “primeval mud” in Madumulana fields to see if there is some “Mee Dena” around to satisfy his voluptuous desires.

I don’t blame Gamarala, but MaRa for all this. He is churning the pot to find a way to grab power.

Didn’t MS boast earlier that he has so many ‘trump cards in his sleeves”? Is cancellation of the Meeting with the UNF and replacing it with a Meeting with the UPFA another of his “trump cards”?

This grass hopper president is the most humiliated scumbag in the world. I wonder whether he needs psychiatric treatment ASAP.
He should give up and go to the paddy field to join the buffaloes. Even the buffaloes might reject the patholaya.

This egomaniac Appa Sira is pushing the country into total anarchy by being so adamant. It is not in his power to pick and choose who is going to be the PM. He has to appoint the nominee of the party that commands the majority in Parliament. It is obvious Hora Sira is still trying to work out a deal at this eleventh hour to save face by making someone other than Ranil from the UNP the PM, and also to avoid impeachment. Now it is too late. He has incensed all democratic forces in the country to such extent that he cannot stop these two outcomes.

We have a fickle minded President, he does not know if he is coming or going. He requested the Parliament to pass a resolution by removing one clause of the previous motion, and the Parliament did it, this should be considered as President’s motion as it was amended at his request. Once it was passed he refused to accept it. Now he has asked for another resolution, which would be the 4th resolution. He agrees for a meeting with UNF and postpones it. But he meets thug monks who display violence in front of his office without any appointment. Why should we have a President like him? Its time for the masses to first ask for a Presidential election. If we have a strong, educated, sane minded President most of the political impasse will be resolved in the country.

      Buddhist,

“We have a fickle minded President, he does not know if he is coming or going. “

Sirisena’s balls dissolved when he dissolved the parliament unconstitutionally He is lost and unfortunately the country is in peril now.

The lemming-prodders are prodding us Lankans to jump off the cliff. The over-feasted foxes prowling below are waiting for RW to sleep-walk over the cliff.
    .
Is the MS panic here in anticipation of getting a putsch over?

The best solution to end this mess is to go for Presidential election. If the same man is fielded by any party, it will end up in graveyard. So, no one will take the risk. However, the present situation has some positive side too. It has portrayed so many hooligans to the country and the world and people have learned many things about constitution and showcased the ugly faces to the people.

Agree. People are tuned in, and everybody is seeing first hand what goes on behind the curtains. The politicians completely underestimate the intelligence of the average Sri Lankan. Time for the silent majority to rise to the occasion and reject evil, extremist, divisive politics.

UNF leaders must now reject Sirisena’s invitaion. He should be informed that ample opportunities and time had been afforded to him and now unless hecomes up with firm proposals and undertaking to carry them out in writing, no purpose would be served meeting him.

This man can not be trusted at all.He changes the word what he says in the morning and does exactly different thing in the evening .He is not at all fit to be the President of a country .In my opinion ,he is not atleast suitable to be a peon in an office .Please take immediate actions to chase this mad person from the office without risking future of this country and its General Public anymore .

What is the purpose of having so many meetings with a man who has already proved that he does not know what he is doing. His current behavior is a good opening for a motion to get rid of him.

      S K M ,

I seriously believe there’s more to this madness than we are led to believe.
How many times N C M ? Why allow him to repeat what he wants to say
about next P M ? How does the parliament implement what it passes when
the M Ps who pass it has no way to appoint their P M ? J V P took a stand
which is the most appropriate , NO MORE MEETINGS WITH SIRISENA !
Why then U N P obliges with Sirisena to hear him repeating the same thing ?
It may not be a lonely game of Sirisena ! All three are power hungry and
have hidden agendas and the luck Ranil has is , he is the visible victim here
on the side of democracy which is an extra for him ! But one month elapsed ,
what is that U N P wants seriously out of this ? It is a huge risk that MARA
took with about just another year away for an election ! A GENERAL
ELECTION IS ABOUT ONE AND HALF YEARS AWAY AND MARA WILL BE
GOING TO POLL WITH LOCAL COUNCIL RESULTS IN HAND , SO WHY THIS
STINKING UNRULY SITUATION ? WHY A COUP ? The picture has to be
bigger than what we see .

As some readers have suggested in the CT, Aiyo Sira does not understand the seriousness of the damage he has done to himself.
He thinks by postponing one way or another, he can create openings for MR’s gangs to buy over some greedy MPs from the other side.
Sira knows Ranil is not mentally strong enough to take strong action against him or MR. What is this? This madness is in its 2nd month. In any other country if the Govt goes into gridlock for a single day there will be serious repercussions with legislative bodies and the people in the streets. Here all those capable of organising street demos are with MR/Sira in the comfortable thought the weak Ranil will be the first one to call it off. The Medamulana mafia has no integrity or self respect. They only want to rob. They are not going to give in to reason, the constitution or the laws

It is time Ranil and the UNP shows some courage. Take a lesson from today’s Paris.

As per the statute books of the country, the purnishment for those who plot against the people is 20 years of hard labour. This is a clear cut case. It’s illegal, undermocratic and unconstitutional power grabbing – a coup against the people. It’s an offence purnishable with 20 years of hard labour. It appears that the Apex Court gave the stay order with enough time and space for the Cheif Executive to sort this issue instead of causing hardship and embarrassment for him. Time is short and running out for Sirisena, MR and all around them. When the final verdict arrives against them, then match over for them and they have to face all the musics. If they get hauled up in the courts about their actions, all, Sirisena, MR and their minions would end up in the jails for 20 years for plotting against the people. That too the President’s immunity ends after leaving the office. Hence, it’s going to be a life time miseries for Sirisena, MR and minions unless they sort out this issue on top urgent and priority basis befor the final verdict arrives.

All the UNF candidates for the election should stay away from handing over nomination papers on December 17th. I heard Rishad Bathiuddin is getting money from the govt saying he is helping the Muslims refugees in the North that were chased out by the LTTE. TULF, in 1972, was a disaster to Sri lanka. TNA has become a disaster to Sri lanka in 2018. Last time they promoted LTTE. this time they promote Inernational community – PEace keeping forces and arab srping.

At Present the NATIONAL QUESTION for anti-Sinhala buddhists is the FAILED COMMON CANDIDATE PROJECT. So, keep on mourning and Grieving. By February Mahinda Rajapkse is the PM. MAithripala sirisena is preparing for the presidential election. The Great Philanthropist Ranil Wicramasinghe this time won’t be a Philanthropist instead he fights with all his vigour the presidential election. All the UNF candidates watch the elelction from their homes with their family members and no supporters will be around say HAIL RANIL. the VICTOR. TAMIL TRIBALISM AS TNA and as TULF was a failure for the country. They should go. Both times, they supported the Democratic pillars of the West.

Sirisena Baba should learn at least now that the Gamarala style management not works and should announce he will not contest again and let the democracy function. Further, he should rescind with immediate effect and move the nation for a presidential election.

This drama is unnecessary at this point, considering disastrous Yahaplana retards have almost 2 years left of governing.
    /
Rumor is the Western conspirators have ordered Yahaplana donkeys to give up the government lurk Mahinda into a trap and elect Mahinda as the prime minister in a tightly controlled environment. Even though Mahinda is the prime minister he powerless. and he is under tight control of The executive president and the speake.

    /
Yahapalana retards are trying to make Mahinda a big bad wolf in their drama once again.

Whatever trump card he had, he has forced himself to face an impeachment and if the UNF cannot do that
it too has no hopes of winning votes in future – Justice is in demand at all fronts and this is the only way
forward if Sri Lanka wishes to rise up. This conspiracy is going to be a blessing in disguise if UNF leaders
    have learnt a lesson.
