The President’s Media Unit confirmed that President Maithripala Sirisena held a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in less than 24 hours after Sirisena said the Indian state intelligence agency was plotting to kill him.

Cabinet Spokesman Rajitha Senaratne and the Foreign Affairs Ministry have denied the media reports on the statement.
Sirisena has also blamed the UNP for not taking the alleged assassination attempt seriously.
A statement issued by Sirisena’s media unit confirmed his telephone conversation with Modi.
The statement issued by Sirisena’s office is as follows, “President Maithripala Sirisena and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation this evening (Oct 17). Two leaders held a very cordial discussion, during which the developmental activities in Sri Lanka were discussed. Premier Modi assured the President that India would always provide every assistance to Sri Lanka’s progress and prosperity.
The Prime Minister said that the close friendship and cordiality would continue to be strong and expressed appreciation over President Sirisena’s efforts to maintain close relations with neighbours as well as other countries.
President Sirisena thanked Prime Minister Modi for India’s continuous support to Sri Lanka’s development and progress.”

Siriena is being played by Bondscam Ranil’s foreign Economic Hit men and should not get distracted from addressing the economic crisis in Lanka today because of so called death threats which are meant to destabilize and militarize Lanka.
At this time Sirisena’s Economic Council should Stop and review each and every foreign loan funded “development” projects to see if they are a development necessity and priority, as many fake Development projects are the reason for the massive debt trap and crash of the economy.
It is not enough to halt import of unnecessary luxury items to stabilize the rupee. All foreign loan funded mega infrastructure projects should be halted and reviewed since it is foreign fake aid projects in the name of development that have put Lanka in the debt trap and ABD-World Bank-IMF-Tokyo bailout business. ADB and JICA and Japan govt are Lanka’s biggest debt holders, NOT China.
In particular the massively expensive 6 lane highway elevated bridge from Kelaniya to Galle Face, funded with more loans from ADB and JICA which is flooding Lanka with Japanese Cars and SUVs and contributing to traffic and pollution should be stopped immediately as it would add significantly to Lanka;s huge external debt burden. What is needed in light rail train transport and investment in public transport which is cost effective and environmentally less polluting than cars and SUVs.

Hindu is standing behind its news. So far, it seems, nobody has officially informed Hindu that it is a fake news and asked Hindu to print Appe Aanduwa’ correct news. Hindu seems to be responding to the News appeared in the media.
Cabinet has an option. They can take Hindu to Indian Court or if Hindu officially operates in Lankawe, to a Lankan court.
But Mahinda Samarasinghe position is very strange. He says that they are decent enough not to ask reporters to revel who supplied them the News. (That is substantially different from NYT case where Ranil asked NYT for prove & the reporters names were released by government.) He is demanding the Ministers who did that to come out and tell the truth. But Hindu said it called the ministers only to confirm news and to have it protected from any liabilities. Mahinda sounds likes that he is sure Hindu printed the news because certainly two ministers told it to Hindu. He did not ask Hindu on that but he believed Hindu 100%. He believes cabinet ministers are not true to cabinet. He feel Hindu would be more reliable than Ministers. He expects, in that case, others to believe him, though he too just another cabinet Minister. If I have properly interpreted Hindu, it got the News on its own way. Instead beating around the bush lets come to the point. Hindu had the ability print the News without the ministers’ confirmation. If had that what happened yesterday, Mahinda Samarasinghe may not have any answer for this new episode. He has an answer only with his assumption that two ministers told a lie to Hindu, but that he did not get in touch with Hindu and had confirmed his side.
The deduction we can reach is, the News occurred and what Hindu reported is true. Up to this Mahinda Samarasinghe’s statement has only given space to understand that.

If I took your ” Facts” seriously, I would have sold my USD at 150 Ruppaih, after Dr Ranil took over the CB & the Treasury..
And waited to buy back at 100 Ruppiah, with Dr Ranil, Dr Mahendran, Mangalan, Galleon, Kabir and that Economic Whizz Kid ,Dr Harash doing great things with our Economy.

Now I am sitting on a cool 15 Ruppiah Profit and waiting for X mas..
By then Ruppiah will hit the Double Hundred.
And I will be able to pay off the left ovesr of my Mortgage with the Hindian Bankers in Wellala Gardens…..
And have enough to buy even a Roast Turkey with a nice Hot & Sweet Chillil Sauce for my mates at the XMas Dinner, with a couple of Bottles of Islay Single Malt… .
