Somebody In Rajapaksa Regime Pocketed Rs 15 Billion When Constructing Hambantota Port: Ranil

When constructing the Hambantota port alone somebody in the Rajapaksa regime had pocketed Rs 15000 million, says Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe

At the opening ceremony of the modernized milk factory in Ambewela yesterday, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said: “the Rajapaksa regime had spent US $ 1500 million for the construction of the Hambantota port. But when we were signing latest deal, we selected the company who offered the highest bid which is US $ 1400 million. That means the port’s value is only US $ 1400 million.”

Who pocketed the balance US $ 100 million which is equivalent to Rs 15,000 million the Prime Minister asked.

Last week the government signed a tripartite agreement to ease the debt ridden port. The agreement was signed between the China Merchant Port (CMP), Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the Ministry of Ports and Shipping. The signed deal gave the Sri Lankan government US $ 1.4 billion. (Jacqueline Senanayake)

Yes, the thing is to that time, nothing came to air.

They the Rajapakshes were clever to BURRY everyting:

Today, almost every simon would add their thoughts about the corruptions being revealed by current govt.

I guess RW means they the Rajapakshes also stole that much alone from that PORT projects, but no MEDIA men had the audacity to reveal them:

Not that HE MEANS, if Rajapakshe did it why not we the successors .

I think RW YOUR problem has been – you have not taken any fearless steps to get them arrested within the 2.5 years passed.

If you did that, holding all the projects, then the people would be praising you.

You NOT even put that Kaalakanni perethaya wimal Buruwasne in Jail. He deserves to be jailed for the rest of his life.

All these boomerang on you today, as if Rajapakshes were born yesterday.

The worst problem we have in SRIALNKA today is – MEDIA MAFIA: they just choose their men, when reporting being THAT BIASED.

Yes, the media is playing a huge part in creating miss leading dramas to play on peoples emotions while protecting the real criminals and their real crimes!!

Most of this riling of the people by the media are for election propaganda…

Media expose the real criminals and their crimes please!?

There is a real Rajapaksas blackmoney project coming up in Kollupitiya that no one (media included) are investigating!!?

Then can you tell us why Lanka Hotels and Residencies in Kollupitiya is not being investigated!?
Isn’t Mr. Thirukumar Nadesan involved in this project too!?
#FCID arrested this man but no mention of this project that is bringing in Rajapaksas black money!? #INTERPOL

      Ranil asks so innocently:
“Who pocketed the balance US $ 100 million which is equivalent to Rs 15,000 million the Prime Minister asked.”

Aiyo Ranil you were the opposition leader when the crooks signed the deal and had it constructed by their new friends. Aiyo Ranil you are the Prime minister now. All state institutions are answerable to you.

If you ask KASmalam K A Sumanasekera he wouldn’t know. He is only a b***s carrier. Its for you to name the crook, collect evidence, charge him, find him guilty, make sure he/they serve sentences.

We don’t understand the reason as to why you want us to find answers to your stupid question. Do you really find it difficult to difficult to manage your job or playing silly to earn sympathy votes?

Maybe MR has caught you by your b***s.

We have given up our hopes fully by today:

But that alone would not be sufficient, even the folks would have to be GModified for a better future on this island.

I believe these are just because they did not fulfil the main promises made to the nation at the time, they were elected by them.

So, both leaders, RW and My3 have to face it since they let former thugs to roam in the city, no matter, harm was beyond estimation.

Situation is like leaving Prisoning CRIMINALS would set free with freedom given them to continue their crimes further.

People have still been waiting as to why PM and Prez DID NOT speed up arrests against the former HIGH criminals.::::

      why why why ?

Today, you the current leaders re punished ONLY for that.

      Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.,

RE: Somebody In Rajapaksa Regime Pocketed Rs 15 Billion When Constructing Hambantota Port: Ranil

RE: Para-Horu, or Para-Thieves, Foreign-Thieves, in the L:and of Native Veddah Aethho.

Hambantota Port actual cost US $700 million, billed Cost US $1,300 Million. The Difference US $ 600 million went into into pockets of Mahinda Rajapaksa and cronies.
      R
      You say Rs. 15 billion! = Rs 15,000,000,000/Rs120 per US $ = US $ 125 million, assuming Rs.120/US $

Looks have got your math mixed up. It is close to Rs. 15 billion taken by Rajapaksa and cronies.

What is your point? The amount “gifted” to Ravi Penhouses’s wife, by Mahendran Alosious &Co, is only Rs. 165 million, about US $1.1 million?

Stealing or fraud is fraud, however small or large?

Why are the fraudsters and killers still at large? Are the bribing using the stolen loot?

      • 2

        Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.,

        Correction:

“Looks have got your math mixed up. It is close to Rs. 15 billion taken by Rajapaksa and cronies”

        CORRECTED:

Looks have got your math mixed up. It is close to $600 MILLION = Rs. 750 Billion , 5 years ago, ( Rs. 120 = 1 $) and Rs. 900 Billion, after the weakened Rupee today.

Say Rs.900 billion taken by Rajapaksa and cronies, in today’s money. So your argument is that Ravi Penthouse being gifted Rs, 165 million with his wife as the intermediary by Mahendran Alosyus and Co. is peanuts?

Would you call it a peanut fraud, or a peanut Penthouse?

Let’s call a spade, a spade, and robbery a robbery, instead of calling it a gift to the wife.

What are the MaRa MaRa crooks and killers still at large? Are you turning into a Siri Sangabo?

It is sad that PM though with much more civilized nation but failed to react swiftly in national issues.

He is no means comparable with former mafia king but manipulates even infants for his votes.

However, PM has to learn good lessions in lanken context. You are like a pigeon among cats when it goes with lanken thuggish politics.
That is why you get hurt by every means by today.
A country filled with people that support rascals rather than civilized, you need to be very careful.
Only mean they would understand is you need to stand against them radically…
bring laws to punish former and current men ASAP.
      Strenghten the police even more
Talk to president without being hung to your party
PLEASE KEEP THE NATION ABOVE YOUR PARTY

leave it if you want to protect UNP or any other party, just do your GENUINE work.

Then you will become the LEADER or you just go home.
Then at least you will have good time to spend being away from Lanken politics

Don’t tax us anymore for these so called losses…
We won’t pay for the Rajapaksas stolen moneys…
Work with INTERPOL and bring these monies back to the country to pay back all the borrowing…

Don’t fool us and let the criminals get away with our nations money and expect us to pay more taxes…
      What a joke!?
Look at the tax on our mobile phone bills!?
Next they are going to overcharge us for electricity!?

Not just for big issues, but

      1) Germany s minister of defence resigned immediately after his dr Title came into criticism- to have been caught by pledgerism

      2) Germany s one President was caught to have not exposed his previous money transactions – no objections but he resigned within few weeks after it rose up

Like wise, why cant these men resign by their own… then they can save their bums and the party or not ?

Meeharak folks – no other answer.

Ranil when contested the election saying He would prosecute those robbers. Ranil has FCID. People say it is not legally set up. Anyway, now it is almost 3 years. FCID di dnot prosecute none from the rajapakse family. Central Bank robbery happened right under the eye of Ranil. One of those involved in that, MaliS. Ranil promoted him by giving a national lis tMinister post, and not even just a MP. His former employent was UNP – chairman ?. This Rs 15 billion is lie the $ 18 billion that Avamangala Samaraweera knows. Ranil is cheating people. If Hambanthota was money losing, govt could have reduced any congestion in colombo by diverting some ships to hambanthota. Instead, they keep on complaining. All incompetence from losers.

Ha hahahha…………And he found out because the buyer paid him USD 100 Million less for Magampura . Heheheeee…… And Dr Ranil says he doesn’t know who robbed it……What the Fuck his F*****CID was doing with Yhapalana Suckers Tax money, which would have amounted to a Billion for all the O/T and O/S junkets…………….. We know they have pocketed millions or even billions. But now you cannot use it as an excuse to camouflage your own raid on the central bank, ganging up with RK/Arjun/Mahendran/Malik and Hashim and other such gangsters. In other countries it is the common gangsters that raid banks and poor people’s pension funds, but in Sri Lanka the gangsters are led by the PM himself. That is right behind the President’s back. It is betraying the President’s Trust, an really bad act .. right? Now as to Hambantota rip off, you got into power promising to find the gangsters from the previous regime and punish them for their crimes. FCID found lots of politician criminals for you, and the conspirators that killed Thajayuddin, but have you ever punished any one of them? The answer is none, right. Why is that? Incompetence or you providing protection to them? So, stop wasting our time complaining about Hambantota and writing placards. Just go and find them and get them into the courts . that is your job, not ours!

      Thrisu,

how come AM to have been a criminal, his records say nothing wrong about his carrier ?. Besides, he had a gradudate from Oxford. I still believe, there are lot more to surface in the days to come. Not just AM but a bunch men in CB should have been doing this for decades.

However, RK had some cases filed against him – and was identified TO HAVE dealth with that jailing Rajarathnam.

Oxford graduate means nothing when the mind is set in defrauding the very bank he was responsible for. The man has committed insider dealing, in favor of his daughter and her husband. What sort of idiot loans money in hand to some outsider at 3% interest, then claim that the country had no money and needed to borrow money from potential investors…………. and then…………. he allows the same money loaned out at 3% to be borrowed back at 13%. Now you tell me what is the economic logic of this. These are supposed to be experts in money management and any Grade 5 student would know this move is disastrous. We are not talking about borrowing 1000 Ruppees until the next pay day, but dealing in billions with interests paid over several decades. If this is not insider dealing what do you call it. I say throw all the baskets involved in this robbery or heist whatever you call it in the dungeon. All of them are criminals.

yes, yes, now we can understand the maths and logic. The 15 billion you whacked on the bond scam gets cancelled by the 15 billion rajapakshe whacked on the hambantota scam. Now it becomes zero and we all can forget the past and move on.Always focus on the future ,not the past if we are to develop this country into the hump, sorry hub of asia and have a megapolis and things like that.Everyones seems to be concerned about the past, how can we progress, you are right,yahapalanya,forward,go.go.

Why is RW vague when he says that somebody in Rajapakse regime pocketed Rs 15 million when constructing Hambantota port. It is the practice of China worldwide to target corrupt heads of state to lure them with bribes in order to construct such white elephants and corner those countries in debt trap. Therefore none of this projects in Srilanka would have been possible without the knowledge and sanction of Mahinda. As head of state Mahinda is responsible for everything what happened during his regime. When this is so, why RW does not have the guts to point the finger at Mahinda.

OK, We know the ex-P, Rajapakse and his family robbed the country or common man, abducted and killed many . His loyalists prevent investigation or stole confidential or cooked up documents. Your government hasn’t resolved those cases and what’s worse corruption continues though at a slower pace. Major problems still linger on and communities are as far apart as before.

No one seems to care about the country.

Mr. Prime Minister! You are talking about 15 billion pocketed by someone during MR regime. This what I hear from a Yahapalana writer Dr Laksiri F:
“Even otherwise, Ranil Wickremesinghe’s responsibility for the bond controversies cannot be ruled out. He, Ravi Karunanayake and Malik Samarawickreme are a very close group within the party and in the government. They are almost like a ‘kitchen cabinet.’ The Central Bank, where all these shady deals happened, was under the Prime Minister. Without his knowledge, it is unlikely that Arjuna Mahendran could act unilaterally in favour of or Perpetual Treasuries. Even on the Penthouse issue, it is quite unlikely that the other two in the ‘kitchen cabinet’ were not aware of what was going on.”
Mr. Prime Minister! Any confession on your part?

This is something that the citizens of the nation state of Sri Lanka have been intuitively aware of for many years. In addition to this single deal the commissions pocketed by this Rajapaks regime as well as the kings commission received from all those who wanted to set up projects on the island and businesses that wanted their development plans approved amount to a massive amount never seen in the history of the island.

This makes it necessary to enact stringent laws governing the ownership and utilization of commissions that are on offer by contractors who are hired to implement development projects and organizations that initiate Foreign Direct Investments as well as local capital seeking permission for and facilitation of various projects. The arrangement of kickbacks and any payments designed to personally benefit politicians and government officials will have to be criminalized and the sources of income and personal wealth of such persons very carefully monitored by the FCID and a civilian economic intelligence organization linked to the Central bank.

It is necessary that interested private citizens be given the opportunity under the Open Government Partnership process to access and contribute to the urgently required acceleration of processes that will put in place such legal and regulatory mechanisms.

This process of consultation with the citizens of the state can commence with the setting up of s citizens council to which the conclusions of the meeting by Interpol financed by the government of Canada can be released for analysis, recommendations and comment, in terms of possible actions that the government can take in order to quantify and recover corruption related funds that have been transferred to offshore banking units and other banks abroad and to prosecute and severely punish those responsible.

Dear PM Ranil: You said: “Somebody In Rajapakse Regime Pocketed Rs 15 Billion When Constructing Hambantota Port”. I am sure Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse would have murmured the name or names of those who pocketed the Rs. 15 Billion in the early hours of 9th January 2015, when you were invited to the Temple Trees and you saw to his (MR’s) departure to Medamulana. Now please don’t tell us “I did not know” OR “I forget”. Why, you had to tell this “LIE” at the opening of a “Milk Factory”. Sri Lankan’s should be ashamed of their Prime Minister
Ranil Wickremasinghe for the things he is now saying.
The heat is on him and he is trying to place the blame
    on the others.

What did he do about Rajapaksas robbing? It is almost
three years since they were voted to office. He and his
buddy Sagala Ratnayakae (Law and Ordefr Minister)
covered up all the investigations. Now, he is saying
they robbed Rs 15 billion. Why on earth did you not take
action. Is this not the way you came to power promising
to deal with the corrupt of the last government?

Now that the criticism is coming on you on the bond
scam, which came under your leadership and you
tried best to cover up, you blame others. Shame on
you Ranil. Resign. You have no decent place in this
country. you have shown that you have betrayed
the people with wrong promises. No one will believe
    you.

I am a UNPers and I trusted you. I puke now when I
    think of you.

      Dear Mr Prime Minister,

The foregoing is what Mr Karunadasa (above) has to say. He is a UNP supporter whom you have probably lost forever.

You will probably have lost all of the middle-of-the – road voters and many UNP supporters by the time realization dawns upon you that in trying to protect a handful of miscreants of the previous regime, you have forsaken your own future and definitely that of the party for a very long time. You have also spoilt your name.

Given all of that, is there anything worth celebrating about your 40 ineffectual years in politics?

This is super! The PM should requet the President to appoint another Commission similar to bond case to investigate infamous Hambantota deal, not only the previous but also the current. At least then, “you scratch my back, I scratch yours” in the Parliament will be over.

The Presidential Commission for CB scam should summon the Prime Minister to testify. It was he who appointed Arjun Majendran, it was he who instructed BOC to give Rs. 66 billion to Perpetual Treasuries, it was he who covered up Mahendran and Aloysius. Therefore the Commission should summon the Prime Minister aka mastermind of the bond heist, next.

I like this particular Presidential Commission. They are better than ordinary courts. They are super efficient and do not have any fear to take right decisions. Their findings are getting juicier day by day.

On the other hand, it is becoming very easy for voters to decide to whom they should vote for or not vote at all anyone in the present lot.

The PM, FM and FM talk as if looting the CB by way of investing in Bonds is something normal and that there is nothing wrong! This is what makes people angry.

For this PM and the government, robbing is normal, selling is normal, accumulating wealth from unlawful means is normal, not having political accountability is normal and not having coherence in government policies is normal. They are not politicians, they are bandits who should be in jail.
