Sri Lanka’s “Chief Servant”- He Has To Go!

By Sharmini Serasinghe

Sharmini Serasinghe

When Maithripala Sirisena addressed the nation in 2015 after being sworn in as the Executive President of Sri Lanka with 6.25 million of us having voted for the man – a political nonentity – we did so with the sole purpose of getting rid of his megalomaniacal predecessor, Mahinda Rajapaksa and his corrupt-to-the-core regime, he said, “This country needs a Chief Servant (himself) and not a King (his predecessor)”.

Well, look what our “Chief Servant”, Sirisena has done!

He did a volte-face on his fancy utterances, donned the crown, elevated himself to the status of a dictatorial king, forgot all about being our “Chief Servant”, stabbed us all in our backs and continues to call the shots.

What a disastrous “Chief Servant” he has proved to be! The man should be reminded that he is STILL an ’employee/servant’ of ours – the citizens of Sri Lanka – his ’employers’, who pay his salary and foot the bills for all the perks and luxuries he and his family enjoy.

Instead of keeping our ‘house’ in order, he has crapped on it, and on our Constitution and stabbed us in our backs – his employers – who gave him the job by voting for him, by stealthily bringing through the backdoor the enemy, the very lowlifes we wanted to be rid of – the treacherous Rajapaksas and their cohorts – kicked aside the legitimate Prime Minster and government and installed the hijackers of our Parliament as our Prime Minister and Cabinet of Ministers. Who the hell gave him the authority to do that!

How does one respect this traitor and continue to regard him as the President of our country? I definitely do not!

‘Breach of Trust’ is a criminal offence and our self-proclaimed “Chief Servant”, Maithripala Sirisena is guilty of it! It is sine qua non that we be rid of him without further ado, before he causes further irreparable damage. The time has come for us to join hands and request him to quit with dignity or else, we have no option but twist his arm into doing so before he burns our ‘house’ down to cinders. Period!

The cost of damage he has caused by his political drama must eventually be borne by the 21 million of us Sri Lankans and our future generations, not just the 6.25 million who voted him in.

Besides the economic hardships we the citizens of Sri Lanka will eventually be forced to endure, he has also brought shame upon our country which was once regarded as the epitome of a Democratic country – a country which upheld all what Democracy stood for – but not anymore. We have today become the laughing stock of the world, thanks to our “Chief Servants” unforgivable treachery!

Sri Lanka is said to have the highest literacy rate in the South Asian region at 92% and overall, one of the highest in Asia. Literacy is not confined merely to the ability to read and write. Any fool can do that. Literacy also means integrity, courtesy, the ability to use one’s common sense and sound judgement to determine right from wrong, the lack of which has been proven over and over again by the gullible voting masses of this country. Literacy also means not allowing others with personal agendas viz. politicians to brainwash us into believing what they want us to believe for their own selfish ends, the lack of which, once again, has been proven over and over again by the gullible voting masses of this country.

Democracy is an institute each and every citizen of our country is duty bound to respect, and uphold, no matter who or what we are. We Sri Lankans have the moral right to live with dignity in our own country. This is our democratic right. It is our birth right. But, how many amongst our voting masses care two hoots for such rights or do they even know what they are? So much for a population with a 92% literacy rate!

When self-serving treacherous politicians behave and regard our country as their personal backyard to do whatever they wish with it at will, with not a care for those of us who voted them into power, it becomes a problem of unimaginable proportions not only for us but for the future generations of Sri Lankans as well. By selfishly looking the other way at this crucial moment in time, we Sri Lankans are also creating an ugly legacy for our future generations. Is that what we want to leave for our children and grandchildren? Do we want them to curse us for being selfish, spineless, complacent cowards when our country needed us? Is that how we want them to remember us?

The worst is yet to come. If we the people of this country don’t unite and halt the chaos that undoubtedly will unfold before our very eyes it will be too late to halt it.

Let not our self-serving politicians cast us aside as non-entities who matter only at the ballot. As citizens of Sri Lanka, we matter and our rights matter when it comes to defending our country against such traitors. As citizens of Sri Lanka, we also have every right to live in our motherland with dignity, in peace and in harmony with each other.

The time has come for each and every citizen of Sri Lanka, irrespective of social and professional status, to rise in peace and defend the sacred institution of Democracy in our country before it’s too late. It’s our right and moral duty as its citizens.

PEOPLE can write well planned highly theoritical, and attractive articles, BUT the ground, real world situations are quite the opposite.Freedom of speech has to be handled practically. If Sirisena has to go, what about Ranil, is he a better alternative. A cunning agent of the world trouble makers .a disguised Autocrat in sheeps clothing Using DEMOCRAZY. a conspirator try dividing the country to please foreign regime changing NGO influences traitors.

      Dear Ms. Sharmini Serasinghe,

RE: Sri Lanka’s “Chief Servant”- He Has To Go!

Thanks for the write-up. Yes, Sri Lanka’s “Chief Servant”- , Sirisena, who transformed himself in office to be Traitor, Quisling, Sevalaya, Mala-Perethaya, Patholaya and Pachaya, Has To Go!

Recent actions have conclusively demonstrated his transformation.

Here is another idiot! He has been repeating the Mantra “Sirisena, Traitor, Quisling, Sevalaya, Mala-Perethaya, Patholaya and Pachaya” for years. Just copying and pasting – the only thing he knows how to do. As an honour to this capability, I confer upon him the position of ‘Copy and Paste Amare’.
        .
But, he like all of us, is not a doer. He never explains what he is going to do about it.

          Edwin Rodrigo,

Amarasiri was one of the First to Recognize and Confer the Titles of Traitor, Quisling, Sevalya, Mala-Perethaya, Patholaya, Pachaya etc. which rest of the country and even the Supreme Court has recently recognized and given verdicts. As such, Amarasiri is free and will repeatedly remind the citizens who have not heard yet about the Titles Traitor-Quisling Sirisena has earned over the years.

Amarasiri also requests that the Citizens and non-citizens alike use those Titles freely as Sirisena has earned them, and continues to perform the Titles conferred on him.

But he will not go – he has tasted power and is drunk -why does he make so many foreign visits? To wallow in the adulation given by foreign govts-
He will not go because he in ” intellectually challenged” as Rasika Jayakody said mildly.
It is time to stop writing and commenting. Time for action – People Power as in Philippines or an Arab Spring.

    Ms Serasinghe,

you have articulated it as no others. Thanks very much for the valuable article.

Yes, irrespective of party, race, regligion and other differences, we should all rally round to stand against anti- democratic rulers.

I have no doubt, PM Ranil W had been the victim under highly abusive tactics of My3-Mahinda all along.
May well be from the day 01 of MS-RW govt.

But SIRASA and other TV senders worked for Mythri and MR painted the picture in favour of them.
MEDIA should be accoutable for the mess created in the country TODAY.

A desperate UNP to grab power with lies and deceit selected your own Chief Servant….…………. So, You deserved what you got.
Sharmini why not call a spade a spade? You got rid of a thief and in turn saddled with a rogue.
Did you ever realise a pedigreed, tie/coat wearing high society person, where people like you from the upper social strata like to hob knob and like to be seen would ever rob the Country’s Coffers
within 40 days from coming out of the Wilderness.

If MR was megalomaniacal & corrupt to the core, where does Batalanda RW of Yahapalanaya stand before your eyes? Your Chief Servant who experienced a windfall will run amok before you can get rid. Blame yourselves..

Who could be the lesser evil between MR & RW ?

    • 15
      1

Thondamany, you have to Realise that there is a difference between MR and RW!
One is Swabasha Educated in Hambantota, and the other Educated in One of Sri Lanka’s Foremost Schools in Colombo.

It is no wonder that the Majority of Sinhala Speaking Voters prefer the One that they believe, will understand and look after their Interests!
Unfortunately, That One is only interested in looking after the Betterment of Himself and His Family!

The Oxford Educated Bandaranaike did not Foresee the Predicament that we are now in, when he Declared His ‘Sinhala Only’ Policy

Of course he has to go. Even for ordinary citizens it is a principle in law that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. So the head of state with all the resources available should have made an informed decision rather than an ad hoc one.

NO. He cannot be allowed to go like that. He (President) is a “DEFECATOR”. The entire country , Sri Lanka was brought to a “STINKING” and a “LAUGHABLE” disorder by his decisions since October 26th. and still continues to “Cover Up” the “DEFECATION” like a cat who has defecated on a rock. I think a “Commission” must be appointed and investigations must be launched to make him “Answerable” and “Accountable” to the county’s loss, economically, politically and socially. If found “Guilty”, he must be stripped off his “Civic Rights” . That is the most appropriate way to “LET HIM GO” and “MUST GO”. Let us send that “STRONG MESSAGE” to any one who takes over this “JOB” in the future.

Do you still live in Sri Lanka? if so, your statements, opinions etc are valid, though they are all in English and very few people will read these. Good luck if you are still there and being outspoken. If you are overseas, then you lose that moral high ground and sound like those living in Australia, USA and Eelam Tiger loves in Canada etc. What are your thoughts about Pottu Amman reportedly hiding in Norway? and your thoughts on a Tiger executing two policemen; one Sinhala and one Tamil? Did the Yahapalana RW regime destroy the Intelligence agencies? is there a resurgent LTTE there in Ceylon?

        Ms Sharmini Serasinghe ,

“I have always lived in Sri Lanka and nowhere else, Thangamma.”

“What are your thoughts about Pottu Amman reportedly hiding in Norway?”

Norway is a cold place; not a lot of sunshine ……. unlike Jaffna! :))

Pottu Amman? What for the talking, buddy? The LLTE was Prabakaran and Prabakarn was the LTTE! There is no LTTE without Prabakaran: No?

“and your thoughts on a Tiger executing two policemen; one Sinhala and one Tamil?”

Did you mean Tiger Karuna? Mahinda’s SLFP vice-president? ……… Look buddy, it’s a silly game that two can play. Grow up!

“Did the Yahapalana RW regime destroy the Intelligence agencies? is there a resurgent LTTE there in Ceylon?”

Geeze man! Are the Rajapakses now scraping the bottom of the barrel for their propagandists?

My fear is that……… Einsteins like you will create a backlash against the minorities with this hogwash ……. then the country will be well and truly partitioned; there is no Prabakarn to save it like last time while all you “theorists” were hiding under beds.

it is useless going behind Mahinda a co and ask them to resign.. The culprit is Srisena. Useless blaming the bullet, blame the man who fired the bullet.

  • 14

Yes Madam, Sirisena doesn’t have any moral right to stay on that high office after stabbing the people on their back. He betrayed the people’s trust and violated the constitution, on which he took oath to protect it. Hence, it’s high time for him to leave with dignity before the people evict him. Instead of being the servant of the people he became the master of them which is not acceptable by any standards, so he should go for good, and no two words about it.

Many of us, lay-Lankans, voted the way we did as Sharmini Serasinghe suggests here ~ “………we did so with the sole purpose of getting rid of his megalomaniacal predecessor, Mahinda Rajapaksa and his corrupt-to-the-core regime……….”.
    .
This is not the time to judge as to whether or not ~ ” ……our “Chief Servant”, stabbed us all in our backs….”.
We have had a coup d’état. Fortunately violence free. NOW is the time to make sure that we do not have repeats.
It is unlikely that as Sharmini suggests, our ‘Chief Servant’ ~ “…..continues to call the shots”.
Few others are involved. We must find this out NOW.
    .
PS: The Chief of Defence Staff is on remand. The Armed Services may not stand behind us.

Yes, Sira’s actions and utterances are not only unconstitutional, illegal and unethical, but are highly contemptuous of the intelligence and sentiments of the people. Action should be initiated to impeach this President from Hell as soon as possible. If UNP and its allies don’t do it because of backroom deals with Sira, all citizens who value democracy should come together and launch a movement to impeach the disgusting traitor.

Here is another ” I said so” moment for me. I hear MS had a press conference where he was asked about his repeated fears of loosing the lives of his family and him at the hands of MR. From the time he was declared a candidate to even a year after becoming president, this he repeated numerous times as and when needed, for his own political gains. Apparently MS with his typical sarcastic smile replied that there was no threats at all from MR at any time to his life and it was just a political gimmick (sound bite) to get the gullible votes. But he was quick to reiterate that the recent one was an actual attempt????? which RW refused to take serious????? I have NEVER trusted him as politician and still strongly suspect MR directing him from behind. He sure has helped MR in getting rid of Bandas SLFP and now turned his attention in weakening UNP. There is no single credible personal or known reason for MS to adamantly reject RW and not UNP. If MR could succeed to certain degree then there will not be any credible opposition to put up a challenge. This in turn will turn to Zimbabwe / Venezuela where on paper will be an election won by MR but with no opposition to put up a real challenge. This is the common ploy of most shit heads who justify keeping power by holding SHAM elections. And regarding Lankan voters , I believe I have said enough. and more. Country like no other.

Nice write up Ms Sharmini: all 3 have to go –MS-MR-RW–for SRI LANKA to move forward –it’s all about making deals within these 3 for their political mileage & survival– am sure Lanka has younger leaders of credibility & integrity to take it to greater heights.

Maithripala Sirisena, MUST GO. He is a fraud.

Keep aside the Presidency, he is not fit to be our doorman. What a village rascal we elected to that high office.

This is a very good lesson to all Sri Lankans, we should bring an amendment to force all those who stand for elections to submit a Curriculum Vitae with their Nomination Lists, which should be made public, so that the voters would know what their qualifications are and waht background they come from so that the voters could make an educated decision.

This I say, after what was disclosed in MY3’s daughter’s book “Janadhipathi Thaththa” where he is supposed to have set fire to his family’s paddy field because hi father has reprimanded him with a “Knock on his head”. Today this rascal is setting fire to our Nation. Probably if we a good percentage of the 6.25 million knew this they would not have voted for him, I WOULDN’T. But said that we would have MR+ Rogues still.
The 6.25 million of us who voted for him, should shoot ourselves with shit.

In his own words he also said that he will be a One Term President, and now he wants to seek a another term. Of that there is NO DOUBT, because he is one greedy village fellow, and there is NO DOUBT that of the 6.25 million who voted for him, NOT ONE vote will he get, if he does. That is because those 6.2 million who voted for him, put country before self in their resolve to get rid of MR and his filthy cohorts, which we see in the likes of Wimal, Udaya, Johnny, Mahindananda, Bandula, Dinesh, Pavithra, Raththaran, Susil and the list can go on. They and all the others who held sway in government before January 8, 2015 are all self serving rogues, who would sell their souls for a few pennies fallen on shit.

Quite a nice read from a lady with a very good taste for music, I find that everyone who writes about the present state of this country fails to project the basic fact of this Presidential system of Government has been the root cause for the downfall of this country from in all imaginable spheres from 1977, or to be more precise 1972. . Been born in 1950 and with memories of those amiable leaders who ruled this country under a different constitution altogether, I feel the voters should first join hands to be rid of this present system of governance. The present impasse is the best eye-opener for that need.
