Sri Lanka’s Highest Ranked Serving Military Officer Admiral Ravi Wijegunaratne Remanded

Sri Lanka’s highest ranking serving military officer Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne was remanded till December 05 by Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dassanayake.

The magistrate denied bail request presented by the Chief of Defence Staff’s lawyers and named him the second accused in the case over abductions and killings of 11 youth by a Navy affiliated criminal gang.

The Magistrate refused bail to the accused on the grounds that there would be obstructions to the investigations if the court granted bail to the Chief of Defence Staff.

This was the first time a serving military chief was remanded over a criminal offence in the history of Sri Lankan judiciary. Wijegunaratne is charged with aiding the main suspect in the case, Chandana Hettiarachchi alias Navy Sampath, to abscond the Police.

Admiral Wijegunaratne, who failed to appear before CID twice to gave a statement on the abductions and killings of 11 youth, appeared at the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today in his military regalia.

The Magistrate censured Wijegunaratne for appearing before the court in his military uniform and the lawyers representing the Chief of Defence Staff said that Wijegunaratne was “at work” this morning and had no clue that he would be asked to get into the dock.

If this RW is that clean and not shown to be guilty, why to keep in remand ?

ho ho… these may be just an another deal self-achitected by mad Sirisena.

This took that long, even if the victimized mothers shed their tears perhaps causing floods in colombo vicinities.

I believe, this man should have committed numerous crimes from that day on.

But today, there are no any protests against this man being taken to remand why ? Rajapakshe are inflicting clashes between people.
There are records that SIRISENA directly points the finger at Rajakashe to have been behind the riots that Kandy muslims were compelled to face few months ago. Sirisena even endorsed, that Sarath Weerasekara was behind those riots under the command of Rajaksahes.

The day SIRISENA is remanded – will be the day of joy for those 6.2 millions of voters that have now been betrayed by him.

I have no doubt, truths will guide him to hell sooner than later. SIRISENA has proved the nation and world, that his decision making could only ruin this nation.

Just last 4 weeks brought nothing to this country, billions of losses were instead … made, and being made not being able to respect the CONSTITUTION.

Not being able to remove him sooner than later, is our bitter pill to swallow.

During the last 4 weeks, with DEFACTO govt led by Ballige Putha Rajakashe

        1) No more tourist arrivals as expected towards the end of the year – 30% cancellation of bookings are reported

        2) Moodie’s finanacial rating system has downgraded SRILANKA from B1 to B2 not allowing even qualify for fair interest loans

        3) Not a single country in EARth planet has welcome SRILANKEN new govt (illegitimate) led by MR and his rascals

        4) All the investigations of high crimes committed by Rajakshe goons – now being treated with ignorant mode with HIGH guys in lawbound authorities on their side

        5) Media is being attacked as had been before. Today, court premises itself, where CDS appeared was reported, that the Journos had been attacked by thugs working for Rani Wijegunaratne

        6) All in all, BALLIGE puth Rajakashe has been abusing anything and everything though it just passed few weeks since they stolen the power from a legitimate govt to their hand in illegal means

As soon as Sirisena has left the presidency he should be prosecuted for his gross violations of the constitution/democracy as an example for subsequent occupants of the position. There should be no escape; he should not be allowed to get away with it.

People who want to protect the nation should be shouting this out loud and clear, as a warning to him.

The former presidents of South Korea and Brazil are in jail for lesser crimes/transgressions.

He has too much power and many hangers-on who need favors from his position. It’s difficult to corner him now.

But he will be exposed once he leaves office ……. even the Rajapakses and the JO will be braying for his blood. This is the fear we should instill in him now; I feel.

He doesn’t have long to go …….. I don’t think he’ll even get a chance to contest for a second term.

        .
We dare not play around with that idea. If the President is impeached the Prime Minister succeeds to that position.

Perhaps the Chief Justice is what should have been in the Constitution. This whole thing is scary, isn’t it?

First time in the history highest ranking serving Military Officer remanded. First time in the history serving executive President violated Constitution intentionally. There is a Fake Prime Minister in the Country for the first time. Fake Cabinet of Ministers took oaths for the first time in the history. No congratulatory massages from the world leaders for newly appointed Fake Prime Minister for the first time in the history. First time in the Sri Lankan and world parliament history government parliament members are boycotting parliament. For the first time there are 2 Prime Ministers and 2 set of cabinet Ministers in the Country. First time in the history Judicial Officer with strong back bone gave orders to remand highest ranking serving Military Officer. For the first time in the Sri Lankan history brainless Man became a President.

Salute to the Judge and the independent Justice System that has been created by the Yahapalana Ranil Government. Now its time to straighten out the Attorney General’s department. Sri Lanka has a longstanding history of independent Justice System. Unfortunately under Mahinda Rajapakse it was screwed up.

Hats off to Magistrate Ranga Dassanayake for another valiant effort to uphold the independence and impartiality of judiciary in Sri Lanka.

Sinister signs for MaRa-GoTa-Sira combo’s illegitimate regime’s short life.

Days are not too far to hear that the criminal band of MaRa, GoTa, Namal, Basil, Yoshitha is hauled up and hanged in public.

It is now becoming too “EXPLOSIVE”. This CDS is no easy going, law abiding, honorable person to be forgotten that easily. The whole world KNEW who protected and prevented from being hauled up before the Justice system of the country. To say the least, he should never have been even considered to be appointed as CDS. There were two ARREST ORDERS from the Courts and still with that dagger hanging over his head, the First Citizen of the country kept him under his protection, playing a “Hide & Seek” game. Now the Judiciary has established its, IDENTITY. Will that not receive “IRE” of the President? Definitely it will. The country is now slowly but systematically stepping into an “UNEXPECTED” situation of an “INVISIBLE DICTATORSHIP”. The President is ready to “Approve” an Interim Expenditure Budget with a “Cabinet” not sitting in the Legislature. Next he is to appoint a “Committee” to recommend the “High Profile Appointments” to Government Agencies. Then another “Minister” in his “Cabinet” Mr. Mahinda Samaraweera names the “New Government” an “INTERIM GOVERNMENT”. That “Interim Government” is “Boycotting” the Parliament sittings and announced that they do not “RECOGNIZE” the present Speaker. President has also made public that he is not prepared to appoint a PM any from among the majority in Parliament. All these are “MADE” to function in the Governing sector in complete violation of the Constitutional and other Rules Of Law. With such a “PRESIDENT” and his “MADE TO MEASURE” Cabinet and a “Government” anything could be expected to happen. Not even leaving the JUDICIARY. As things are, the only hope is the JUDICIARY.

Times have begun to approach when judicial officers are demonstrating their supreme independence. Realization has come that judgements as in Tsunami Fund episode have taken the country to bottomless perdition. It seems correct now, that the decision of the three Judge bench headed by the Chief Justice has set the pace for a reversal of trends. Never suggesting that the Magistrate would have given a different decision but for the lead of the higher judiciary, the country appreciates the Magistrate’s ruling.

“So the king, so the subjects” goes a Tamil saying. The misrule of the President and the pretensions of the counterfeit PM, with regard to their thesis of “War Heroes can do no wrong” stand blasted. The image of elected offices is in smithereens. Higher officialdom needs to pluck up courage to do the right.

Lot of people say Sirisena is a fool. I say no. He is intelligent. But he has animal qualities, not human. Sirisena is a man who will sell his wife and children for his own benefit. He is the one who conspired his father to hit his step mother. he is the one who purposely delayed his foreign trip to avoid brother weli raju’s funeral. He is the one who set fire to his father’s paddy fiied to take revenge. I say Sirisena is not a fool. Sirisena is inhuman, he is worse than an animal.

Sirisena produces crocodile tears claiming he loves Sri Lanka and all its people and will never do anything to harm her interest. This is the same man who improperly appointed his brother, no more than a village nimcompoop of unknown quantity, as Chairman of a State TelCom asset reportedly at an astonishing monthly salary in excess of Rs.2 million. Highly educated and men with decades and proven experience in management were paid not more than Rs.2 lakhs (in 2015). If and when Sirisena is arrested he should be held responsible for robbing the poor peoples money. By the way did the Auditor General raise objection in this robbery?

Global Good-governance organisations, of which Sri Lanka is a signatory, are
warning the rogue MS Govt they are not going to ignore the serious human and governance violations now taking place here – growing exponentially since last month. The examples where action was taken by the UN and connected agencies to censure “leaders” of rogue regimes in Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Sudan etc. is now being seriously and advisedly taken by our rotters. The semi-literate Sirisena might not understand the ramifications unless he checks with the much devalued Professori. The most feared will be travel-bans and the threat to investigate all illegal foreign bank accounts “stolen money” of rogue political leaders and officials.
Of course, the fear of what happened to several leaders at the International Court of Justice at The Hague (Netherlands) where several world leaders were taken into custody and punished cannot be a comforting thought to our political crooks. The days where our degenerates thought the world is mindful of the undue influence of the Buddhist clergy here to protect our big political crooks is coming to an end.

Very perceptive and excellent comment. Not to forget is the harsh sentence on the two killer criminals of Cambodia. The country must be obliged to the great Forum that is Colombo Telegraph. From 26th October it has provided much valued space for the infuriated mind to vent it’s spleen at mischief and injustice. The thin veil of immunity and impunity of the much celebrated war heroes is beginning to wear thin. Let the thread holding the fraying sword of Damocles snap and fall. Let all criminals starting from the so called political cyphers – topmost to bottom liners – begin to shiver.

Public opinion and international opinion are beginning to be assertive. More aggressive are : Depreciation of the Rupee and Impending Inflation – no respecter of persons.

BBC took the arrest to its World News- Asia Section.

Sri Lanka’s top military officer has been remanded in custody, accused of covering up civil war-era murders.
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-46374111

They probably are seeing this as a start of those cases. But the original culprits are not in this case. This is only to create a showcase to world. Of cause this was a preparation of Yahapalanaya; Yahapalanaya never would have thought of hurting him. Old Royal deal in different manner; but as Ravindra now is not a favorite of Old Royals, they too let the show business go ahead. After all, he well get out healthy after being treated at hospital for his overweight. But there was a customs’ confustication of smuggling $53,000. But the Finance Minister, Old King ordered to release money.

Giving oxygen to social justice is happening , relief for some and lesson for
others . It is some kind of relief in this hard time . With all the bad experiences
we have in our motherland , I still wonder if some pressure from outside took
place or it is fully independent ! Mahinda inside and Ranil outside and the only
man in real power Sirisena watching justice prevail on one side while also
watching dramas unfolding at where all laws are created and get approved ! It is
hard not to connect these pictures before directing the film ! Nevertheless ,
justice prevailing is a good sign and let’s hope the seven bench Supreme court
does the same on the seventh of December .

    “killing of 11 youth”
The media has to de-racialize the victims because they are Tamils killed by Sinhalese military apparatus with impunity. The fact is there are many more out there, probably buried in unmarked graves or gone without a trace. There is political interference, no witness protection, and no political will to arrest those perpetrators. Even if arrested, they will come back out with political backing. There is no hope for justice.

As I said in my earlier comment, this can add fuel to fire that has been set in the “Back Yard” of a number of VVIPs. This CDS is the person who “USED” Navy funds to “Smuggle” out the main accused, nick named “Navy Sampath”. The “Investigations” also led to the “Location” at “Manning Market” (Colombo 10) from where most of these “Abductions” were carried out. A “Passport” was also made “Ready” at this location for this “Navy Sampath” to get out of the country. The “Higher Authorities” from the Defence Ministry’s involvement has also been tagged on. This “Sudden” decision of the President on “October 26th” followed by “INVOLVEMENT” have to be looked at seriously. In addition to what we see happening with a “CABINET” operating outside the Legislature, now that very “OUTFIT” has been reduced by “Eliminating” all the “Deputies” and “State” Ministers. What does that mean? The “TEAM” is getting reduced to the “MINIMUM” so that any “OPERATION” can be put in place with that “Minimum” in quick time. Did you all notice the case that was to be “Continuously” heard against “GR” and “SIX” others was suddenly “Postponed”. WHY? Because AG did not provide the required documents to the “Defence”. This is the “SECOND” time AG “Failed” in that duty. Anything to “SMELL” in that action? Rather “AMBIGUOUS” and “SUSPICIOUS”. Better be on ALERT. On top of it “Basil R’ is on a country wide “Membership Drive” to enrol 2 million for the SLPP and he is planning to “ISOLATE” SLFP. That too is a very sinister and a “Suspicious” move. This is my analysis of the present day events. May or May not come about. Time will decide.

It is reported that a high ranking official from the department of
politics in the U N O is in Srilanka right now ! Who can say this
remanding has nothing to do that visit ? People still don’t believe
that they have a governance that is free of political influence in
every walk of life .Former C J Sarath N Silva’s political link with
Mahinda in public is ample proof as to how judiciary had been
functioning ! A real statesman inside Mahinda must have avoided
this ! What is the message he’s giving to the public by carrying such
a man with him ? Do they care ? Until about five years gone , the
significance of this arrest and remanding can not mean anything
except appreciating the court order as a good move for now ! All
these politicians want a place above the law ! And finally them and
those who stood closely with them in all their foul , corrupt and
criminal acts have to be protected from rotting behind bars !
