Dr. Ameer Ali
“Those who are oppressed must realize that their liberation will not be given to them, it must be seized through collective effort” (Frantz Fanon)
October 7, 2023, was a memorable day in the bloody struggle for Palestinian freedom from more than half a century of Israeli apartheid terror and destruction intending to make an independent future state of Palestine an impossibility. Hamas – a Palestinian Islamic movement founded in 1987 but nurtured and funded by Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party to check the increasing popularity of Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian National Authority – became the elected representative of Gazans since 2007 and realised that Israel’s apartheid oppression in Gaza must be stopped and that there was no possibility of achieving an independent Palestinian state under the so-called Oslo Accords of 1990s which virtually created a “Bantustan”. It was that realisation which provoked the bloody response on 7 October 2023 when 5000 rockets according to Hamas but only 2500 according to Israel were fired and caught the Israeli military Intelligence by surprise. As the UN Secretary General Guterres said in 2003 Hamas attack “did not come from vacuum”.
What is happening now in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem by way of genocide, forced evacuation, desertification of land under cultivation and demolition of every building structure – all accomplished while the world pretends to sleep, is even worse than what Germany’s Hitler did to the Jewish people while other Western powers looked the other way. It is now clear that President Donlad Trump having declared his ceasefire in October 2025 and followed by creating his so-called Board of Peace has virtually given Israel carte blanche to do whatever it wishes. Since that ceasefire more than 1400 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza alone by Israel’s ground and aerial forces. The main reason for Trump’s reckless tolerance of Israel’s brutality is profit. He realises that there is money to be made from Palestinian blood. UN Repertoire Francisca Albanese exposed with evidence how hundreds of finance companies, armed manufacturers and commercial entities in US and Europe are profiting from Israeli illegal settlements in the West Bank and terror in Palestine. According to an updated account 158 of a total 214 such enterprises are headquartered in US.
However, after three bloody years of unchecked Israeli horror the struggle for an independent Palestine has become a humanitarian issue capturing the hearts and minds of millions of people both young and old and from every faith and country. More importantly, the Pro-Palestine movement is beginning to have its impact on the domestic politics of several Western countries. Israel in the words of Avigdor Liberman an Israeli politician has become “a pariah and a burden on the Western World”. This turn of events has made the Zionists and their Western allies to unleash a counter campaign through their corporate media to denigrate the Pro-Palestine movement as anti-Semitic backed by Muslim terrorist groups. To label pro-Palestine as anti-Semitic is factually wrong on two grounds. Firstly, how can support for Palestinian Arabs who are also children of a Semitic tribe be anti-Semitic? Secondly, anti-Semitism originated in Christian Europe where Christians hated the Jews for killing Christ, and they were forced to live in Ghettos. It was to counter this anti-Semitism Zionist nationalism was born which ultimately resulted in the creation of Israel. Pro-Palestine is not against the Jews but against Zionism which exhibits racism. Even Jews in several parts of the world are participating in Pro-Palestine rallies as happened in Berlin on the 10th of this month.
There is also another development in the politics of US and other capitals of Global North including Australia to counter the spread of anti-Zionism and growing support for a Palestinian state. Having mistakenly identified that it is the increasing population of Muslims and spread of Islam in the West which lie at the root of growing anti-Zionism and increase in Pro-Palestine activism the call for tough restriction on immigration is becoming louder. Once again, it was Donlad Trump who made this clear when commenting about the school unrest in France. When talking to his Truth Social platform he said: “what happens in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration”, and “this isn’t about schools; this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great country”. Islamophobia has been shrewdly included with an anti-immigration policy which in practice would translate into restricting Muslim immigrants. This is becoming a hot election issue in the so-called Western democracies.
Thus, three years after the violent response from Hamas against Israel’s apartheid and terror over Gaza, the issue of an independent Palestine has been turned into a battle between anti-Zionism led by the pro-Palestine movement and Islamophobia injected into Western politics by the Zionists. In this battle, Global North, driven by its financial and commercial entities and weapon manufacturers are colluding with Israel to wipeout Palestine itself from the world map. So long as the Arab world remain divided and subservient to US and its Western allies the heroic stand of Iran with its non-state armed groups alone cannot halt this unfortunate eventuality. It was not without a purpose that in 1945 when Israel was created the British dominated UN left its territorial boundaries undefined.

The Palestinians have tried all means to achieve their long overdue freedom, independence, and the right to self determination, and every time they have been blocked or rejected by the US and the Western world. They are left with NO choices at this point. They have endured far too much, and suffered for decades. They are resilient people determined to have their own state, despite the illegal occupier continuously sabotaging those efforts. They have been under a brutal military occupation, been blockaded, starved, blockaded, been collectively punished, displaced, and have had deadly bombed dropped on their people, wiping out entire families, and hundreds of thousands killed, maimed, and targeted by snipers. They have been raped and tortured in prison with NO legal representation, including little children. The war criminals who have committed the above crimes, have been funded, armed, and protected by the US, UK, and the EU, for decades, and now they are cozy with Arab nations who have done nothing to help their neighbors. What more is in store for these poor people? “

International laws permit armed struggle and resistance.
“Palestinians have a recognized right under international law to resist Israeli occupation under Protocol I of the Geneva Conventions.[1][2]This right is affirmed in the context of the right of self-determination of all peoples under foreign and colonial rule.[3][4] The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has expressly affirmed the right of Palestinians to resist Israeli military occupation, including through armed struggle.”
Despite the so called “ceasefire deal” the war criminals still continues to kill civilians including children on a daily basis.
Sri Lanka must stand up for human rights and freedom and not get intimidated by those preventing the Palestinians from achieving their own state and rights.

There was no Palestine state from the beginning. Why didn’t Palestinian leaders declare independence soon after the partition? Now Palestinians have nothing much left and their land areas are thining. The West fooled the Palastians.

Meanwhile in the Sinhala Buddhist state, the muslim problem is growing. ID and passport office looks like a south Indian mudlim slum. How are those alien creatures entitle to SL ids or passports? Who smuggles them in? Have some of them been smuggled out from SL with SL passports?

Why have the Palestinians not allowed to have their own State?
One reason. The war criminal Bibi propped Hamas up by giving them suitcases of Qatari cash, so that that they will not push for an independent state:
“For years, Netanyahu propped up Hamas. Now it’s blown up in our faces”
The premier’s policy of treating the terror group as a partner, at the expense of Abbas and Palestinian statehood, has resulted in wounds that will take Israel years to heal from.
For years, the various governments led by Benjamin Netanyahu took an approach that divided power between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank — bringing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to his knees while making moves that propped up the Hamas terror group.
The idea was to prevent Abbas — or anyone else in the Palestinian Authority’s West Bank government — from advancing toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.”
Times of Israel.
From the horses mouth:
‘There will be no Palestinian state’, Netanyahu vows”
It seems the hasbara is here trying to set the Sinhalese against the Muslims again with disproved propaganda.

This fact is not accepted by either the Labour government in UK or by its Conservative opposition party. UK politics too like that of USA is dominated by the Israeli supporters.

To your point:
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was warned days in advance that Hamas terrorists were planning a “major attack” but failed to take action, The New York Times has confirmed.
The outlet spoke to two sources who confirmed an earlier report from Israeli newspaper Haaretz with the damning information about Netanyahu, who is seeking a seventh term as prime minister.
United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed had warned Netanyahu in late September that Hamas was plotting an attack, according to Haaretz.”
He wanted this to happen to justify what he always wanted to do – slaughter tens of thousands of Palestinians, and annex lands.

That is whY China has become a global power that the West cannot easily bully or pressure… Its economic strength, strategic independence, and long/term planning give it influence. A united Arab world, by Aligning with China and other independent global powers… could also become a formidable force, protect its interests, and stand firmly for Palestine without depending entirely on Western POwers.

China had to work hard for its self reliance from the time of its liberation struggle.
Aligning with China will not help any country or group of countries to become self reliant.
One should learn from another but not imitate another— even worse, become a client of another.
The Arab World has its curse within. Its rulers are slaves of imperialism and rely on imperialism to survive.

The undemocratic countries in the Middle East are supported by the Western powers. The rulers exploit not only their citizens but also the foreign labour force from the third world countries. These workers are poorly paid without the consideration of their Health and Safety concerns while doing their precarious jobs.
The rulers can only rule their countries if they listen to the western governments

Some of the other CT contributors will know the History of the Donoughmore Commission (1927/28). It was mostly about the Constitution. Here is the Oral Evidence given by Mrs G De Silva –

What is the point that you are driving at?
Are you talking about a now imaginary state that had ceased to exist a few centuries before the British arrived.

There were boundaries of British India that were left undefined for their own purpose and thus saddled India with border disputes.

Okay, when they start a war, it is a holy war. When others start a war, it is about “their interests in your country” or “their security in your country”. They end up committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, and destruction.

It has been declared a GENOCIDE by International courts and Agencies, who have damning evidence of war crimes being committed by the war criminals.

This is NOT Jihad. These are Muslim and Christian people who have been ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED for 70 years . They have a right to resist and get their freedom and rights according to INTERNATIONAL LAWS.
70,000 Palestinians have been killed including over 20,000 children.
More women and children have been killed. Are they all “Jihadists”?

Professor ANI Ekanayaka / October 14, 2026
This article seems like a shameless despicable and atrocious attempt at “victim blaming”. It seeks to whitewash and excuse the brutal carnage by Hamas terrorists who slaughtered more than 1200 people in a single day massacre, injuring over 3000 to 4000 people and taking approximately 251 people ( including infants, women, elderly individuals and foreign nationals ) hostage. In our own day and age it epitomised the sheer wickedness and diabolical evil of radical Islam that provoked the crusades in ages past.

A man who could not care about 7+ decades of Zionist cruelty comprising demolition of homes, expulsion of people, killing of unarmed civilians is talking to an incident which was a modest response to decades of suffering.

Hello Professor,
You must have read different History Books from me. At School we learned about Peter the Hermit and the First Crusade. It wasn’t the Muslims that slaughtered everyone in Jerusalem – “On July 15, 1099, Christian Crusaders captured Jerusalem after a five-week siege and committed a massive slaughter of thousands of Muslim and Jewish inhabitants”
Even at School in Scotland we were told that Salah ad-Din (Saladin) was not the Monster portrayed by the Church and in the Tales of Richard the Lionheart. He was from a Kurdish Family and became the Sultan of Egypt and Syria. Ridley Scott’s 2005 film “Kingdom of Heaven” covers the Third Crusade and the fall of Jerusalem to the Muslims.
Best regards

Professor ANI Ekanayak professes that the Hamas Attack epitomised the sheer wickedness and diabolical evil of radical Islam that provoked the crusades in ages past.
The first crusade was NOT agaist Islam.
What about the Sheer wickeness of Chritianity that was practiced in the centuries long befoe the Crusades? State-sanctioned violence agains heretics and infidels began before St. Augustine’s prominent anti-heretical writings, starting with the execution of Priscillian in 385AD. Other one most people know about are: 405 AD: Emperor Honorius issues the Edict of Unity, officially outlawing Donatism. Church forces begin seizing Donatist churches and exiling their clergy. 411 AD: The Council of Carthage formally condemns the teachings of Caelestius and move against “heretcs”. 418 AD: Pope Zosimus issues the Epistola tractoria, officially excommunicating Pelagius and Caelestius. Emperor Honorius orders executions or exile. 431 AD: The Council of Ephesus universally condemns Pelagianism as a heresy. Heretics are eliminated.
Large-scale military massacres targeting dissenting Christian groups began with the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars in 1209. Then the Popes turned to the “holy lands” and looted its wealth, brought its books and learning which led to the renaissance, and the rise of the Enlightenment that debunked Church teachings.

Dear Professor,
“This article seems like a shameless despicable and atrocious attempt at “victim blaming”.
I don’t see where you got that idea.
“terrorists who slaughtered more than 1200 people in a single day massacre” But wasn’t that with the full knowledge of PM Netanyahu, who also gave truckloads of cash to the terrorists, according to the Times of Israel.
https://www.timesofisrael.com/pm-under-fire-after-report-he-was-repeatedly-warned-qatar-was-funding-hamas-military-wing/
The same Netanyahu has slaughtered 75000 men, women, and children. So who is the real terrorist?
/
SebastianSR / October 15, 2026
Proessor ANI Eka-Nayak should also look at the Sheer wickeness of Chritianity when it arrived on the shores of India and Sri lanka, and how it massacred the ifidels. Following the Crusades, the transition into the Age of Discovery (15th and 16th centuries) saw Catholic European nations receive explicit mandates, blessings, and legal frameworks from various Popes to conquer, colonize, and exploit non-Christian lands. Papla Bulls Dum Diversas (1452) & Romanus Pontifex (1455); Issued by Pope Nicholas V, these bulls granted the Portuguese monarchy the right to invade, capture, and subjugate “Saracens, pagans, and other infidels”. Crucially, it gave them explicit permission to “reduce their persons to perpetual slavery” and seize all of their lands and property. This was used to justify early colonial maneuvers along the coast of Africa and onward toward India and the Orient. Inter Caetera (1493): Issued by Pope Alexander VI shortly after Christopher Columbus’s first voyage, this decree drew an imaginary line from pole to pole. It gave Spain exclusive dominion over all lands “discovered” to the west and south of the line that were not already ruled by a Christian prince. This bull explicitly stated that barbarous nations be overthrown and exploited
/
SebastianSR / October 15, 2026
I hope Professor ANI Ekanayak demand that the current Church hierarchy accept responsibility for the heinous crimes against humanity committed by the Christian Church and ask the Christian nations, and current Christian believers who continue to support this imperial business ( masquaderating as a “religion”) to pay compensation to all the nations that the Church has victimized.
Furthermore, the Churches collect money and make capital by decietfully promising things IN THE NEXT WORLD to its clients, while also using some of its younger clients as sexual play things. This is pure fraud and undiluted crime, The Church cannot show that it has delivered what it promises to deliver. Hoodwinking the public is a criminal offense. Islam, that Professor ANI EkaNayak claims to be brutal is just a second edition of Christianity applied more comprehensively to completely control its faithful clients. If those who believe in Abrahamic myths find that Islam is brutal, that is true of Christianity and its God who created evil in his act of creation.
