TNA Condemns President’s Act Of Pardoning BBS Gnanasara

“The Tamil National Alliance unequivocally condemns the President’s act of pardoning Ven. Gnanasara Thero by abusing the Constitutional powers vested in the Head of State,” says the TNA Spokesperson M A Sumanthiran.

Gnanasara

General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena, Galagoda Atte Gnanasara was jailed by the Court of Appeal for committing the offence of contempt against the Magistrate’s Court of Homagama. The conviction and sentencing happened after the learned Magistrate complained to the Court of Appeal, and after a trial at which he was afforded every opportunity to defend himself. His appeal to the Supreme Court was later dismissed.

Issuing a statement today the TNA said; “This was the one instance when the Thero was dealt with under the law when his conduct in instigating violence against the non-Buddhist citizens of the country never drew any action against him by the law enforcement agencies.

“Sri Lanka now faces the challenge of containing racial and religious bigotry if the country is to move forward with all citizens being treated as equals. In addressing this challenge the government must scrupulously deal with all hate-mongers, whichever ethnic or religious group they belong to. When the call of the hour was to be severe on all purveyors of hate equally, the President’s act of showing extreme leniency to a Buddhist monk sends a very wrong message to the country. The message is that it is acceptable for violence to be instigated against the minorities, but that even innocuous acts that the majority community feels uncomfortable about will be dealt with severely. This is to take Majoritarianism to yet another level.

“We call upon all right-thinking people to unreservedly condemn this act of the President and work towards reversing this dangerous trend.”

The Commissioner General of Prisons a short while ago told media that he received the order by President Maithripala Sirisena to release Gnanasara.

Worst act by the President against all norms of justice.
If he had pardoned the Political Prisoners instead, it would have been a most gracious gesture.

      Mr Justice,
I think that, as did Subanthiran, your’s would be the first reaction from most liberals & non-Buddhists. But, as G Gnanasara has promised at the media briefing after the release, what if he would become a true Buddhist monk? This is a proposition even for me to believe, but it is possible! Things can become really interesting if he stays true to his promise at least for another six months!
However, the important point is not what he is going to do next; rather what the president expects to achieve by this. I strongly suspect that he is expecting to use this pardon as a ploy to win public support to save his job against almost daily revelations on his big lie to the nation.

Sri Lanka continues to be a land where Rule of Law is flouted with impunity to satisfy the whims and fancies of the Sinhalese Buddhists.

Without the rule of law strictly enforced for all communities, terrorism cannot be eliminated easily.

The president himself violated the rule of law in October last year, and he continues to do so in this coconut republic!

Security forces do the same taking no action against the Sinhalese rioting against the Muslims recently.

Fancies of Sinhala Buddhists? Many dislike pardoning him and the very character of gnanasara. Wasn’t it were Asath Sally and manoganeshan who went to see him in prison? What did Digambaram say? Gnanasara is a useful tool for MS for his future political project

“On December 10, last year, a writ petition was filed in the Court of Appeal seeking in the nature of a writ of Mandamus against the IPG Pujitha Jayasundara and OIC of Fort police directing them to institute judicial proceedings in the Colombo District Court by virtue of section 2 of the Mental Diseases Ordinance for the purpose of inquiring the state of mind of President Maithripala Sirisena.” –

The judge who dismissed this case, did a great disservice to the people of Sri Lanka.

Another despicable act by a despicable man. The great betrayer. The man in robes he has just “pardoned” is the most abusive, brutal, irrational and racially deranged man in Sri Lanka. There are heaps of videos of his disgusting behavior, his use of vile, filthy language and venomous threats towards the Police and the minority communities. Together with egg head Madhumadawa Aravinda he was seen and videoed inciting the mob to unleash violence in Aluthgama. He propagated absurd stories about muslims and Evangelists converting buddhists , screwed up theories that the muslim population will overtake the Sinhalese population, sterilization pills being dished out at muslim eating house, anti-halal campaigns and what not. The penthouse thief Ravi K has also visited him in prison and pushed for his release. What’s his agenda? And what about Sandhya Ekneligoda? Who will protect her now? This has to be the last straw that broke the camel’s back..

Unfortunately we do not have a leader in this country.
Sirisena is a puppet and spineless creature.
Unfortunately UNPers and other minority groups have elected this Sirisena as a HEAD OF STATE in Sri Lanka.

Why this so called monk was imprisoned or incarcerated for??????

If Sirisena has ordered to release this monk who violated the law and order in this country, Sirisena must give orders to release all prisoners who have been incarcerated for minor offences.

    This is ridiculous……

Sirisena is trying his best to collect voters from many avenues now.
This man has completely destroyed the law and order in this country.

Now the whole country is in danger.

People must assemble together to demand Sirisena to release all prisoners who suffer in prisons in Sri Lanka.

Sirisena is responsible for what happened on Easter day, by not acting immediately, when he was warned many times that this could happen.
In some other nations, the leader would have resigned in shame, but unfortunately for Sri Lankans, our leaders know no shame, do not feel remorse, and do not have a good conscience. They are disgusting people, who cling to their power and perks, and do not care for the country. Damn them all.

It is not so. Ranil & Old King saved Hizbullah when he was arrested on heavy machinery theft. Ranil wanted to give Hizbullah a minister position. But New King stopped that and gave him Governor position. How they are working on saving Azath Salley, Hizbullah, Rishard. He is just throwing a pawn to catch shark.

All what he is doing now is to stay in power.

I don’t know what is in Social Media. But let me put a synopsis of Tamil media. Sumanthiran and TNA are now out of touch.
These days Tamils do not look at Gnanam as he divided Tamils and Sinhalese any further that it was. They think He was not arrested and punished because of his divisive activities. The reason court said punished him is his unruly conduct in court and violent language towards Sandhya. Yahapalanaya wanted to save the Eknaligoda murderers. So it cheated Sandhya with prisoning Gnanam. Yahapalanaya used this to let escape war criminals who murdered the Cartoonist. Tamils, as they fought for their language, they respect Gnanam’s right to fight for his religion. Beyond internal Arabian money launders, he faced the opposition human right organizations, because almost all of them are secular organizations, who dislike Buddhism Only activism. From the very start Tamils are democratic, Free Economy, secular citizens.
Though Sumanthiran, who failed to get out Tamils prisoners out, is being first in opposing his release, Tamils media shows Tamils are indifferent on his release. This could Sumanthiran’s attempt to hide his failure on Secret Solution and his unwillingness to leave politics as he promised. Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslims, all together, see all these as only Aanduwa political games that is putting the fuel rots in reactors in and out as it want the temperature tuned on the boiler. Aanduwa who hired ISIS to attack Tamil Churches, releasing Gnanam to increase heat on unruly Muslims Governors and Ministers, to beat them hard and bend on the way it wants. Tamils are with Sandhya to get justice for her loss of her beloved husband. The rest is Sumanthiran-Ranil’s partnership trading Co. Tamil have nothing to do with this release.

      Thanks for your comment.
I do not belong to any parties.
You are saying Sumanthiran has failed.
What about other leaders starting from Sir Ponnambalam could you please list what they have done in politics?
BC Pact not implemented- is it chelvas fault?
DC Pact not implemented – is it chelvas fault?

Staring from Ponnambalam brothers Sinhalese politicians are cheating the international community and the Tamils.

Shitsena agreed with TNA and the international community to do few things. Now he is not doing that. Is it Sumanthirans fault?

        Anpu, Thanks for reading.
When Aanduwa (or the Trios) hired Local ISIS to kill the police man During the October Revolution, for the local ISIS’s protection they arrested few rehabilitated youths. One of the guys’ wife repeatedly attempted to commit suicide with her five kids. Sumanthiran pretended like he was not aware of that. But when Local ISIS has to be apprehended, Aanduwa could not hide that secret as 9 countries’ investigators was taking part in that. So Aanduwa let that Tamil guy go of prison. Depending on how Sumanthiran thinks that whether ex rebel was guilty or not guilty, when arresting him or releasing him, Sumanthiran should have talked on that. Whatever happened, Aanduwa was wrong on either arresting or releasing him. But Mano says it was he who handled that release issue. Then what happened to Sumanthiran that time? Now Aanduwa is releasing Gnanam because it cannot arrest Hezbollah or Rishard. Keeping Gnanam inside and these guys outside will guarantee as many as NWP riots you need. It was these guys who organized the Local ISIS for Aanduwa. Sumanthiran went and met Hezbollah. Further he did not tell Tamil churches that Aanduwa was planning a strike. He went that morning to a safer church. Now what kind of moral authority he has to talk about Gnanam’s right and wrong? Yes SJV failed, he brought the Vattukkottai Convention taking the hands of his arch rivals (Including G.G.) . Will Sumanthiran accept his failure, as you are recognizing at this time and start to campaign for IC investigation, instead of hiding in Ranil Butter Fly’s Munthanai? Sumanthiran said if he is not getting Secret Solution by end of 2017, he will leave politics. Now he says he was only working to bring it in the next government. If you don’t know, please, can you ask Sumanthiran who is coming to power next time? Because Gnanam is open you think Gnanam is bad and Sumanthiran is good because his Stamp is “Secret”.

What is at issue is not the rowdy influence of this un-buddhistic thug in robes in a bizarre political landscape in the country. What is in focus, while the world watches, is the very integrity of our justice and law-order System. The arrogant, foul-mouthed jerk was found guilty of undermining a Court of Law bringing it to disrepute. Earlier, he was found driving a lorry without a driving licence and fully drunk – clear misconduct of a man unfit to be in robes. But he managed to subvert the law then with his influences in our fragile law and order process. And now this. What faith can ordinary, law-abiding citizens have in such a system. Does President Sirisena realise UN agencies and the diplomatic community based in Colombo are all watching this charade and doubtless keep their own superiors abroad informed. If anyone had any doubt at all Sri Lanka continues to be a Failed State, this sure is. This latter day out of bounds Buddharakita will make the news, the wrong side of it, in the months and years to come shaming all of us and the country.

For all his devilry Gnanassara has been provided with a Mercedes Benz limousine by a pious Buddhist public!!!!

Or this is about Asia’s Military Buddhism. They found the perfect candidate for that. Myanmar govt solved it the best. they simply shot SIX Pakisthani terrorists who were responsible for this. In the case of Sri lanka, all the terrorists are in Colombo and in the parliament. Most are protected buy all three parties of the govt. Because, they first gave lot of money to each. Myanmar govt doe snot have CRAPPY UN, UNHCR, Human right Organizations are not allowed. They would be shot too as they all are beef – steak eating.

All men, women, boys, girls, monks, nuns, other all priests and both male and female youth must violate law & order in this country without any fear because Sirisena give you a pardon and give orders to prison authorities to release you.

Sri Lanka is a FREE country which you can violate Law & Order and any crime.

Sirisena is a HEAD OF STATE.
Sirisena will look after you who violate Law & Order and do commit any crime.

I have mentioned more than once before that this government is always very soft on convicted criminals but treats suspects very, very harshly. Political prisoners are languishing in prison for more than 10 years without any credible charges being brought against them. They are subjected to unbearable mental torture and it is agonizing for their families too. But this scoundrel of a president is releasing a prize blackguard long before the truly justifiable prison sentence comes to an end!

Hello, Sumanthiran, how could “exercising” Presidential powers be an abuse? Is so, why didn’t you object when the President pardoned an LTTE terrorist?
How about TNA’s long time demand for the release of LTTE terrorists?
Minister Rishad Bathiyudeen has also tried to get a Muslim terrorist suspect released a few weeks ago.
Viajayakala Maheshwari helped a Tamil rapist to flee.
One local Muslim politician called for common pardon for all terrorists suspects in custody over Easter Sunday carnage.
What do Muslims and Tamils think? Do they expect the law to be special to them?
It is time the minority politicians to respect that law should be equal to the majority, too.
The statement says; “President’s act of showing extreme leniency to a Buddhist monk sends a very wrong message to the country.” Really? What message the President’s act of showing extreme leniency to an LTTE terrorist sent to all terrorists?
All right thinking people should condemn President’s future act to release LTTE terrorists.
Sri Lanka has no racial or religious bigotry.
What we have here is racial and religious terrorism unleashed by the two minority communities.

Ha ha ha International community never allow a Sinhalese Buddhist rule?????? What you say in other words is, the international community will never allow Sinhalese to be united????????
Sri Lanka is our country. Sinhalese Buddhists don’t need the approval of the international community to unite.
Mahinda Rajapaksha should adjust his mentality to the thinking of Sinhalese Buddhists.
What is under threat right now is Sambuddha Sasana and it is happening with the direct support of the slave government. Before thinking about any economic development, the priority of Sinhalese should be taking every action to protect Sambudda Sasana which is Dhamma, Sangha and Buddhists.
There is no way Sinhalese Buddhists elect another Sinhalese President who is under obligation to bargain Tamil Muslim politics.
We shall see to an end to it..
Sinhalese will point blank refuse all Sinhalese politicians who go after extremist Tamil and Muslim politicians, again. They have taken the upper hand as they think that Sinhalese will never be united under one leader.
We can change that easily when Sinhalese will realize the danger of being divided anymore.

” It is time the minority politicians to respect that law should be equal to the majority, too.”

That is no problem but the problem is we could not get our English or even UN’s English equated with yours. UN says minum 40, 000 innocent Tamils died in Mullivaikkal, but your English says it is what is called Zero Casualty in war.

” Sri Lanka has no racial or religious bigotry.” You are saying that and you are saying Lanakwe is Buddhist Country, Lankawe Sinhala Only Country……….. That is what is known in Western English as bigotry- racial prejudice. Lanakwe English is very drastically different from Western English.

Champawati you should be are a real moran to talk like that.

          Mallaiyuran
Oh,I can easily elaborate. Yes. The time has come for the minority to respect that the law is equal to the majority, too. Tamil, Muslim racists expect the law should be lenient and special to them. That is why TNA and Muslim politicians seek a common pardon for their terrorists.
Tell the UN to prove when and where 40,000 “innocent civilians” were “died” and their names and addresses.
How about terrorists? Who killed 28,708 servicemen? Ghosts?
Yes, it is zero CIVILIAN casualty.
Sri Lanka Army sacrificed their lives in order to save Tamil civilians.
Otherwise, 29,000 servicemen would not have disabled at the last phase of the war itself and 40,107 in total, while another 28,708 servicemen lost their lives in combat. (These figures were revealed by the President.)
Altogether 68,815 precious lives of servicemen were either lost/disabled in battle, in addition to around 100,000 civilians who were killed by LTTE.
Tamils shed crocodile tears for an unsubstantiated civilian casualty number while Sinhalese silently weep for their lost loved ones.
The “problem” with Sinhalese Buddhists is their unlimited patience, tolerance and equanimity. That is the reason for Tamils and Muslims to take the upper hand.
Nowhere in the world the majority is tyrannized by an 11% + 9% minority.
Anyways, it is the fault of Sinhalese themselves. We shall change that at the right time.
Sri Lanka is a Sinhalese Buddhist country.
From North to South, East to West, every inch of this country is ours.
Finally, English is not my language. It is a foreign language. There is no rule that one has to be perfect in a foreign language.
You should learn the meaning of bigotry. Interestingly, in Sri Lanka, it is Tamils and Muslims who are bigots.

          • 0
            1

alright then why don’t you let the UN into Srilanka to “prove” it? all you do is run and run and run?
“From North to South, East to West, every inch of this country is ours”
Okay so SWRD,JR,PREMADASA,CBK,RANIL and the all mighty MR failed in achieving this racist agenda, yet you think you are some special creature who eats with his ass hole to prove them wrong?

Your argument is so weak that is why you resort to slandering.
How could it is be a racist agenda? Sri Lanka has been ruled by Sinhalese at all times because this country is a Sinhalese Buddhist country.

What Political prisoners? Since when LTTE was considered as a political party?
Political prisoners are languishing in prison? Really. What is the meaning of a prison? Why do you pick only a certain group?
How about the victims of terrorism? Weren’t they subjected to unbearable mental torture agonizing their families too. Why nobody talk about them?

        2

        Dear Champa,
        .
The LTTE was never considered to be a political Party by me; however, they were mostly highly motivated people who were fighting a certain cause which they believed in, but they do not.
        .
They used brutal, immoral strategies to garner support for themselves. I think that they could be termed “terrorists”.
        .
Now that most of them have paid the supreme penalty, those languishing in jail could now be considered “political prisoners”.
        .
I never knew Prabhakaran personally (how could I? !). I feel that he possibly started off as a “freedom fighter”, but ended up as a ruthless killer. I don’t mourn for him, but I will not go so far as to prevent others from grieving for his demise.
Champa, you have not commented on the pardons extended to Karuna, Pillayan, KP. They cannot be justified on moral grounds, but were probably necessary for practical, political reasons.
        .
So, all pardons today are political. That of Gnansara is not even practical. It makes me even more determined to fight racists of all persuasions.
        .
If I was forced to judge today: Sirisena is a worse man than Prabhakaran.
        .
Let me re-stress that I have no personal knowledge of any of these people.

          Sorry, mistake above:

They unleashed terror to divide the country and have a separate state for Tamils who are only 11% of the total population. They could have tried this in Tamil Nadu where 90% of the population speak Tamil.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa should not have pardoned Tamil terrorists. He made a blunder and it is Sri Lanka’s tolerance towards LTTE terrorists that motivated Muslims also become terrorists.

              Prashanth
              JVPers were not terrorists.
Unlike terrorists who target innocent civilians, they targetted the government. That makes the difference.

    Saaadu Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadu Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadhu.

The imprisonment of this venerable Thero was politically motivated. Politics should not interfere with the Justice under any circumstances in a proper democracy.

Had a Judgement been issued against a Tamil or a TNA member that was politically motivated, I am sure the TNA hooligans would screeching through the top of their lungs.

One can’t have the cake and eat it too. Either the TNA must support a system where the Judiciary is independent of the Executive or face the brunt of it when it affects one of their own.

When one supports a saffron robed terrorist, who spread hate, and incited brainless racists against the minority, which led to Mosques and Churches being burnt, businesses attacked, and homes of innocent people attacked, you have to question that commenters justification of the above crimes.

      Shamal Perera,
Few years ago the same Nanasara was fined Rs. 10,000 by the Court for Driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Was it also a politically motivated? Duminda Silva and Makadure Madush can be next according to your new found theory.

        Lapatiyo.
This particular SHEMALE Perera from Toronto is self-proclaimed WAR hero.
He is caught there and not allowing the bugger getting back home since he took refuge there. THese men may have killed hundreds of innocient people at the time war was at its heights.
So, can we ever expec tth ekind of ballige puthas to speak the truth.
Ghanasara balusara, is a blood sucker. Not only he drove that car on that but injured innocient people. Ballige putha should have been rotten in a prison cell if things should have been fair for him.
Anyway, sirisena has been sitting on his today not knowing that his has been wearing his sarong. So the bugger would not do any single thing to praise us the lankens that would seek justice being served to its citizens.

Very likely, SHEMALE PERERA should have been the sodomite partner of Ghansara in SL.
Shamale perera is said to be a notorious child molester going back to his young days in the country. These men would never see it right.

Rtd. Lt. Reginald Shamal Perera, What do I know. I’ll accept your, ‘The imprisonment of this … Thero was politically motivated’. Now, help me again. Is the release of the … Thero politically motivated or not. I’ll rely on your wisdom.

        Thappu,

If you consider Maithree’s pardon given to the Thero as politically motivated then all Presidential pardons including Donald Trump’s pardoning of Joe Arpaio for a simillar offense (Contempt of court) and Prime Minister Justin Trudeu’s exoneration of First Nations chief Poundmaker also Politically motivated.

Do you consider those also to be politically motivated or did you just pick the Sri Lankan President’s pardon ONLY as it was “easy pickings” for you?

All men, women, boys, girls, monks, nuns, other all priests and both male and female youth must violate law & order in this country without any fear because Sirisena gives you a pardon and gives orders to prison authorities to release you.

Sri Lanka is a FREE country which you can violate Law & Order and any crime.

Sirisena is a HEAD OF STATE.
Sirisena will look after you who violate Law & Order and do commit any crime.

Major Prabath Bulathwatta recruited again by big mouthed, mike tyson, Army Commander under the instructions from card board Mantela. Now Nanasara, a curse to the Nation released today directly by Mantela violating Constitution. Next Duminda Silva and Makadure madush. We have a real “Hanuma” as our President. Now we can understand how Wimal Uruwansa, Pivithuru Gon Haraka, Kamba Hora Mahindananda Althgamage, Mahinda Rajapaksha, Namal Rajapaksha, Yoshitha Rajapaksha, Sriranthi Rajapaksha, Gotabaya Rajapaksha and high profile Rajapaksha goons are out in the open.

What is wrong with this village idiot Sirisena.? At a time like this when there are tensions between various ethnic groups, when there MUST be positive influence in the country, voices like the Cardinal, and other respected Buddhist monks, the brainless Sirisena thinks it is a good idea to release a well know racist and terrorist thug, who spread hate and false accusations against the Muslims, and resulted in Muslims being terrorized, attacked, Mosques and Churches being burnt, and innocent Muslim killed in a Mosque?

This is putting a fox in the henhouse, to cause chaos, and add to the tensions. This could mean more violence and death.

Sirisena is a fool, and one should question his motives, and it would be interesting to know who is directing him to make this dangerous mistake.

The inability of the President is the outcome of the opardoning of Ven. Gnanasara Thero who has abused the Constitutional powers vested in the Head of State. The President should have resigned before appointing Mahinda Rajapakse as the Prime Minister. Now there is suspicion whether President intends concealing his blunders of facilitating Rishard Badurdeen and Hisbullah in various ways. Ranil should be careful of his cunning tactics. Now Narendra Modi is back again as Prime Minister of India, let us watch the drama whether President is bent on leaning towards China or would facilitate the Islamic terrorists against India.

What is the crime or crimes Venerable Gnanasara committed ??? Had Thero Support any brutal militia like suicide bombers ??? Had Thero ask his followers to be suicide bombers ???? Had Thero preached anything against Buddhist’s values ???. Had Thero preached non- Buddhists are vile animals. Had Thero ask his followers to lay land mines on the roads where others travel. Has Thero preach his followers to cut finger tips of non-Buddhists & kill them ??? Thero just spoken bit loudly at one court premises. That is natural event. It is not punishable event for life. As a monk his responsibility is to inform general public danger caused by Islamist. What is wrong with it. ???.

You are so ignorant. This saffron robed thug terrorized minorities, resorted to hate speech, and provoked the brainless mobs to attack homes, businesses, burnt Mosques and Churches, and he was able to incite these haters to KILL innocent people in a Mosque in Aluthgama.
You should spend some time getting educated, and watching some of the thugs videos, as you can see him terrorizing people, instead of making statement without facts.
      He should be behind bars.

“In addressing this challenge the government must scrupulously deal with all hate-mongers, whichever ethnic or religious group they belong to.”

Very good. Arrest Vigneshwaran and Shivajilingam immediately. They are hate-mongers.

If President can pardon LTTE terrorists why can’t he pardon someone who is jailed for contempt of court. When LTTE terrorists were pardoned, Sinhalayo did not object.

This country should not be governed according to the whims and fancies of the descendants of slaves brought to this country from Malabar by colonial parasites . If you guys are not happy, go and complain to the Governments of Portugal, Netherlands and United Kingdom because you are in this country due to the inhumane act of displacing your ancestors forcibly from their homeland and bringing them to Sinhale to make money. They left your ancestors in Sinhale and vanished. Now they come to tell us about HUMAN RIGHTS. Hypocrites!

When the Buddha Statues were being vandalised and those perpetrators were caught, which politicians got the criminals released.[Probably after getting HUGE SUMS]???
When the two Policemen were killed , the Security forces failed to catch the real culprits and being very smart they remanded the two ex LTTE fighters. Have they been FREED? Could the President the current and the past one TELL us what type of REHABILITATION DID they undergo? The real rehabilitation is needed for the SECURITY forces…. Not to victimise the innocents;not to carry out illegal orders from the Politicians; not to just stand by when the innocents are being bullied/ attacked/tortured/murdered by MOBS OF THUGS probably organised by cunning crooked Politicians.

Haha, 2500 year of Buddhism…oh Ramona, it is 2500 years of something, but not exactly Buddhism!

We are historically a country full of frauds, thugs, criminals, rouges, rowdies, drunkards, rapists, murderers and racists, barbarians masquerading as Buddhists. Nothing to be surprised, 2500 years of ‘Buddhism’ in Sri Lanka did not make any major changes in our society in terms of attitude, character, behavior, and morality. We hide behind a heavy veil of pseudo Buddhism involving in rituals (much of which are copied from Dravidian Hindu practices) than the true wisdom and practice that Buddha preached. This pseudo Buddhist card is used as an ace to hide the fact that our citizenry is still actually uncivilized.

The Buddhist monks (hora ganayas or cheevaradharis) like Gnanasara are exploiting the respect that the Buddhist society has for the yellow robed Sangha and not only misleading the gullible so called ‘Buddhists’ but also betraying Buddhism and insulting the Buddha. Sirisena released him only for his political gain, just to gather a few Sinhala-Buddhist votes.

Can’t help, president has vested power to pardon a convict.

Argument should be that to what extent it’s ethical & what extent it impacts judiciary.

Whatever the impact may be judiciary has to tolerate president’s vested power.

The ethicality of the action is to be scrutinized by the people.

However attempting to create a pure racist picture too isn’t healthy for the country.

What necessitated the president to pardon him?

It’s now believable that there’d been hidden agenda of an extremist group with external links to destabilize & proceed working against the interests of majority people of the country.

The said monk had foreseen it but the people @ the top made no heed & regret now.

Isn’t it a shame for them to have him behind bars.

Majority people shouldn’t be misunderstood as majority community as it’s quite visible that faction of non-Sinhala community too are in favor of his release.
