UNP Minister Jayawickrama Perera Colludes With Sirisena On Securing Release BBS Gnanasara

courtesy Foreign Correspondents' Association of Sri Lanka Facebook page

UNP Senior Parliamentarian and Buddha Sasana Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera had confirmed to the Mahanayakes that he would discuss with President Maithripala Sirisena on seeking a Presidential pardon for the convicted Buddhist monk Galagoda Atte Gnanasara.

Gnanasara

Perera said he had received letters from Ramanna Nikaya, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kotte Sri Kalayani Samagi Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter of the Siam Nikaya, and the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter of the Siam Nikaya for the release of the controversial monk.

Gnanasara, the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena organization is convicted of contempt of court, as he threatened missing person Prageeth Ekneligoda‘s wife, Sandhya Ekneligoda, within the Homagama Magistrate’s Court premises. He is also facing several other court cases on different charges.

It is widely believed that Sirisena will grant Ganasara Presidential pardon on February 04. Jayawickrama Perera told the media he would discuss the possibility of the monk’s release after the President’s return from Singapore.

Jayawickrama Perera is the UNP MP to openly support the release of the Buddhist monk who is directly involved in instigating communal violence in Sri Lanka which has destroyed the lives of properties of many Muslims in several parts of the country.

“Jayawickrama Perera’s explicit support for Ganansara Thera is alarming. Although President Sirisena wants to release Ganansara Thera, he treads carefully on the matter as he is worried about the reaction of minorities. Jayawickrama Perera’s erratic behaviour gives Sirisena the opportunity to state that even the UNP supported Ganasara Thera’s release. It positions the UNP in a negative light from the standpoint of minorities,” a senior UNP Parliamentarian explained.

SLFP National Organizer Duminda Dissanayake has already requested President Sirisena to release Gnanasara. Dissanayake told the media last week he was confident that the President would release Gnnasara on February 04.

Sirisena has also held a round of discussions with BBS Buddhist monks on Ganansara’s release. The President has reportedly promised them that Gnasara Thera will be granted Presidential pardon “after receiving legal advice.”

    Saadu Saaadu Saaaaaaadu!!!

I am voting for the UNP and I am voting for Minister Jayawickrama Perera if he’s a candidate in my electorate of Udu-Dumbara.

As for the venerable monk my best wishes to him and may he be bestowed with strength to further weaken minorities that are detrimental to Sri Lanka. Yet may he also have the wisdom to identify the minorities who stand strong with the nation.

    Saadu Saaadu Saaaaaaadu!!!

Here in Canada we are organizing a Pot Luck on Feb 17th to raise funds for this monks political vision to come true.

It won’t be long before this deranged Gnanassara Thera decides to directly enter Parliamentary politics on the grounds he alone can solve the country’s many complex problems. If that happens he will subject to the
sword many of our current political “leaders” – which is, of course, a welcome thing. That he may eventually destroy himself is also a factor that must come into the equation.

    UNP Minister Jayawickrama Perera,

Sirisena, who carried out the illegal and unconstitutional coup, will not only release the criminal Gnasara, he will also release the Devil, Satan, if they they support him to get a second term as the executive president, courtesy of the Egomaniac JR in 1978.

    When will the Parliament”

    Impeach Sirisena
Punish the illegal and unconstitutional coup conspirators
    Disband the Executive Presidency,

Remember, the 2015 elections were about the last item above.

It is said that Turkish couple vanished from SL? how on earth this could happen? Whether he is released or not.. Justice become a joke in Sri Lanka. A time will come judges, lawyers, and courts will have no respect.. I’m not against any one.. But Sri Lankan politics, rule of law, rule of land, justice, ethics, morality and human values all gone now…. Still a glimpse of hope in the minds of many good Sri Lanka..99.% people are good but %1 have spoiled SL

      critical thinking ,

With due respect for your love of the country , are serious that we have
only about 220,000 bad people in the country out of nearly 22,0000000 ?
The truth is worth to be worked out as the country is rotting from all
sides and the topic itself proves that it is a highly controversial but well
known character , not only in Srilanka , that we are talking about ! And
the man authorized to pardon the prisoner is our president who without
any hesitation acted in violation of the constitution which the supreme
court called illegal , in a historically big way ! How come such a man still
is the head of the state if the people of the country are 99% good ? Good
people have this kind of men as their head ? My assumption is , Good
people act fast to remove any stain on them and save their dignity . That
has not happened in this and many other foul smelling cases ! Sorry dear
that is the bitter truth .

When was the last time UNP did not collude with or instigate communal violence? I love how Champika Ranawaka of JHU, who is now part of UNP, has all of a sudden become a tolerant saint. Anyway, will muslims grow a spine to protest the release of gnasara thera? I doubt it.

Gnnanasera is a crackpot and an insult to the Buddhist clergy and is being incarcerated rightfully and legally.
    J. Perera is a typical communal low-grade politician indulging in communal politics promoting the culture of impunity.
Election fever is in the air and cheap politics is already surfacing.

We have great respect for Buddhism. It was a great gift from India to Sri Lanka. Lord Buddha thought that Sri Lanka was the ideal place for spreading Buddhism. But what is happening is the reverse in the name of Buddhism. Places of Buddhist worship should be constructed in the correct place for people to pray and not in every place as the politicians desire. Recently some Muslim engineering students from a university have climbed on the roof of a Buddhist Vihara (Thoobi) at Anuradhapura which is considered as a sacred place. I myself feel that this is not acceptable. We should give its due respect. Now they are arrested and are in remand. This is a good lesson for the politicians to select places which are suitable for construction of Buddhist Viharas with Police protection. If this is the situation, it is easier for Buddhist fanatics like Gnanasara Thero and some politicians will take an upper hand, and Buddhism will be ridiculed. Buddhism should not be politicized. After all, when a person is convicted and more especially when a jouranalist’s wife is threatened, releasing him from jail by way of Presidential pardon or otherwise, is against the religious tenets. If however, Gnanasara Thero is released by Maithiripala Srisena, then Buddhism has become a laughing stock and Maithiripala Srisena is also mad and not worthy of being a President.

Monks are calm, kind and generous people. People who help the community, encourage peace and preach on the philosophy of how to be good human beings. They are highly regarded and respected by all citizens of Sri Lanka. On the other hand this clown thinks wearing a robe and screaming in filth will get him a free pass to do whatever he likes. He earns money by creating conflicts. Gets paid by an offshore account in Norway. Speaks filth, eats red meat, solicits in sexual activities with minors and has a band of murderers, rapists and drug dealers around him. Now all these allegations have not been proven yet. But these will come to light sooner rather than later. This fool is acting on the exact opposite of Lord Buddha’s philosophy. He’s a disgrace. But this clown still manages to stack up support from people. This shows that we are to be blamed as a society and a country and now he’s set for presidential pardon. People like this clown is not one of a kind. They might pop up in the future. If it’s not this fool it will be somone else. This is why I would firmly state that we have failed as a country. We have failed as a nation and we have failed as human beings.

Why are these Buddhist monks interfering with the laws of this country? They should spend time meditating, and helping the poor in this country, not look after the interests of a terrorist thug. This man was responsible for spreading hate, burning of Mosques, and inciting attacks on Muslims, a threat to peace in this country. This man’s attacks ended with Muslims being attacked and killed. Anyone trying to get him out of the trouble he in, whether Buddhist monks or President, AGREES WITH HIM, SUPPORTS HIM, AND WANTS HIM TO CONTINUE HIS RACST ATTACKS.

Pardon should not be granted until he had served at least 75% of his sentence. He should declare that he will behave well after release and follow the Lord Buddha’s teachings and NOT to incitigate intolerances among all the Sri Lankans.

”Religion is the Opium of the people.” Karl Marx. We are drowning in that. How can we develop Srilanka if we are scared of Mahanayakas who are expected to take the message of dhamma to people not actively and directly engage in politics.

This will encourage crime. If you want to commit a crime take to robes and do it.To be sure become a Buddhist monk.

Disgraceful. Pardon my foot. This thug was jailed for contempt of court and what is the purpose of having a court system if the slimy patholaya can grant a pardon. JP is also a ratbag if he supports slimeball.

Buddhism is a path of peace like any other religion.
    ,
When the situation is tough, if the religious leaders resort to violence, what hope do we have?
    ,
Shouldn’t the penalty for the religious leaders be much severe?

Jayawickrama Perera is of course our present-day Cyril Mathew, and he finds the obnoxious Gnanasara a perfectly normal ally.

Current President (soon to be ex) Sirisena needs all the help he can get to save his skin. He will step into any lump of shit if necessary. Pardon Dumbinda – done! Pardon Gandasara – done!

But, if there is a God, WE the People will not be fooled.

Please God give us a proper hero to deliver Lanka from her woes.

The Buddha Sasana is going to dogs with the likes of Mahanayakas who do not see the right from the wrong. Gnanasara is a disgrace to all Buddhists.

How can there be a pardon without the prisoner himself asking for pardon with assurances he will never repeat those offences? Without these preconditions G’sara will be free to carry on regardless. Even talking about a pardon will amount to a slap in the face of the judiciary. In any case it wont be wise to let loose this barbaric moron on society whose occasional appearance on tv makes one want to vomit.

Such a commitment for a convicted!

Well, if so strongly sought of his release, it must come with strong promises.

    Promise to de-ordain

If sought, re-ordain as a novice monk.

Not to do politics as a monk, giving a message to other monks as well.

Make not his political behavior on hatred basis but truth basis with kind & compassion for all.

Be far sighted instead of being short sighted that destroys SL image.

If Gnanasara is released not only will it be a travesty of Justice, but also this is also a way of discouraging all who are calling for all are calling for the “normal” operation of all Courts.
    .
On the one hand, we have Sirisena expressing a desire to emulate Duterte of the Philippines who wants those who are “regarded” by the “authorities” summarily executed (amounts to murdered by the State) without any legal procedures, and here, on the other, we see it being advocated that a guy whom all of us have seen on TV inciting communal violence, should be released from jail.
    .
He was given a not very long jail term because he was duly convicted of a relatively minor offence that he was duly found guilty of. Much more serious allegations against him have not been properly prosecuted. So, let him at least be made to serve out this term of his, instead of diverting the attention of the Nation to this unnecessary issue.
    .
Please focus on much more important court cases and law enforcement than on this non-issue. Sirisena hasn’t bothered to make an appearance himself in Parliament, but now he seems to be preparing to embark on yet another foreign trip – to Singapore now. After the Independence Day shows for which he has persuaded the decent Maldivian President to grace.

Jayawickrema Perera should be kicked out of his seat and the party. How can a person who was a Racist and a law breaker who was accused by two courts can be pardoned? Is this the Yahapalanaya that was promised by Maithree and UNP? People like Jayawickrema who have no idea what law and order means should never be given any ministerial positions. Shame on UNP to have such ministers among them.

If this despicable fanatical monk is released by a presidential pardon it will further confirm that there is no rule of law in this damnable country where ( to parody Lincoln ) governance is “by Sinhala Buddhists, for Sinhala Buddhists, with Sinhala Buddhists”

UNPers have a dirty habit of colluding.
Ranil.W.as special guest at the wedding of Rajapakses youngest son.
Now Jayawicrema Perera colluding with Sirisena for the release of this thug in robes Gnanasara.
What is the big idea in having Law Courts in this country when every other convicted guy gets a Presidential pardon! Dumminda Silva is also a hopeful. Hirunika should be alert with respect to Dumminda Silva.
The MaRa clan is also colluding with Sirisena for a Presidential pardon for the latter!
    Wheels within Wheels eh?!
