The brother of Sujeewa Senasinghe, Dr. Namal Senasinghe has threatened a diner at a star class restaurant with death, according to a video doing the rounds on social media.
Shaminda Herath, who sports a beard had been at a restaurant, on Saturday night when the brother of the minister had accosted him.
According to Herat’s Facebook page, Senansinghe had “threatened him with death, jail and a whole other plethora of abuse”. The short video shows Senasinghe repeatedly threatening Herath, saying “We are Sinhala Buddhists, and this is a Buddhist nation” assuming Herath was a Muslim due to his beard.
The Senasinghe brothers have continuously been in the limelight, with the Minister himself recently allegedly sending a private message on Facebook to a user saying “kariya hukawanawa,” after the Facebook user had criticized Senasinghe for using the floods for his political advantage by pasting his pictures in dry ration bags that were distributed among victims.
In September 2007, Chaminda Senasinghe, his other brother was hit on face with a pistol butt by Malaka Silva at the Bistro Latino Restaurant.

The racial comments were completely uncalled for as it had nothing to do with the incident. So apparently the chap who posted this (one Shaminda Herat according to his facebook) was behind bars for his role in a bank robbery at Union Bank several years ago. In the meantime, Muslims jump into action to feel offended at every remark, even though there is nothing racist or wrong in what the doctor said (it is a sinhalese buddhist country isn’t it? what is wrong with asking people to live by buddhist values?). It is good that this was published with the video clipping- the man Namal seems to be after having some alcohol and others were trying to calm him down. Apparently, the guy with a beard has made some unwarranted comments to this man known as Namal. I am very glad that no physical violence was there among the parties involved. However, the message is clear; the Muslims must understand that either drunk or not, mistaken identity or not; SRI LANKA-SINHALA-BUDDHISM link is undisputable. It should be loud and clear to Muslims.
