Video: Stop Intimidating Investigators – Civil Society Tells Sirisena

Civil Society organisations which played a key role in electing President Sirisena in January 2015, have strongly condemned his high pitched speech at the ‘Sathviru Sanhinda’ programme held at the Sri Lanka Foundation on Wednesday the 12th October 2016.

The organisations, Purawesi Balaya and the National Movement for a Just Society yesterday reminded Sirisena of his election manifesto and urged the allegation leveled at the Bribery Commission to be withdrawn.

This is besides requesting him to end the intimidation of other investigative bodies.

      Still please with respect.

      He is a elected president.

But what should know is – we have not had the kind of consensul politics
      in the past.

What I believe is, people are not yet grown enough to realize the current situation.
But they all had patience at the time Murderers governed the country.

OUr people should be made aware about the ground realities.

I think even if he made such statements, we must not attack him personally, but we rather give more support as CIVIL society groups are upto.

        Seelawathie Jayasinghe

“He is a elected president. “

Yes, he is the elected Gon Gamarala, who fooled the voters who voted for him. Called Gonata Andanawa.

Looks like what the Rajapaksa’s are doing is to dress up Gon Gamarala, being Gonata Andanawa.

Now he has joined the gang of criminals.

It is simply, consensual politics is not easy for lankens.

Most lankens are easily manipulative. That is their nature.

Like or not, believe or not this is the reality.

See, they should have discussed together before being passed to media about a single issue.
That is not occuring in today s context.

Prez says something. Then PM says sometimes totally different.
And ministers of each side add mostly their own opinions. Above all former men like SB whose person had been so damaged shortly before the election – must not be given the lead to handle media.

It is like no means easy Prez to take any blunt action, since almost everyone surrounded by him would have been charged for high corruption in the former regime, if he would not co-operate with his coalition party-UNP. The very same is valid for UNP men who are currently not moving as promised prior to election (in terms of vehemently go against corrutption).

All in all, the kind of consensual politics could be applicable in Germany, but not in a country where almost every 2nd is rather proxy corruption and higher abuses.

And we the avarge would not see it right that Basil is being not jailed yet. Why – he is mastermind of all the high money grabs.
One behind the other, we will get ot know the money grabs and the ground reality of them.

In the Malwana case – just to leave him that way by lanken courts is politically set. Else, if an average person would react the way Basil does, relinqushing his ownership of the 3000 Million worth property, no lanken laws would have allowed to do so. Where is the law and order stagnated ?

Let me correct you here, he is elected prez of a country whose people could easily be manipulative by any idiots. Here sinhalayas were made modayas by Rajaakshe goons over the years. Even today, those Rajapakshes supporters for no reasons would worship them, regardless of any high profile frauds to have carried out by Basil led Rajapakshe family men.
People are teh idiots so automatically their representatives too idiotic.
I think consensual politics – alone the concept is a joke for lankens or the like uncivilized filled nations.

To be honest, I personally had a lot of respect for this person, more than I had for RW. After that speech, not only I was furious, I was hurt. This traitor broke the people’s trust for his own personal agenda and that is unforgivable.

SLFP WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STAND FIRM IF MEEHRARAKA LED SUPPORTERS WOULD DECIDE AGAINST SIRISENA.

        I think SJ is right.

We ve been ranting not knowing the real problem which is most of lankens are grown enough to go for consensual politics.

The public must be well informed being not fallen to any parties. But unlike the case in Germany, lanken average are far from getting even healthy moves. They have either been caught by Pulligona led bull talks …. calling them partriots,or stand on th way of any good moves. That have been the reality.

Yes, expose, expose and expose the Gon Gamarala. Did the Gon Gamarala take billions as bribes from the Rajapaksas stolen billion? Is he protecting the constitution and law and order or the criminals?

Gon Gamarala, the Idiot, should be impeached!

Well done Civil Society, bring some civility in the President.

He is trying to act like a Gamarala and forgetting his pledge and trying to protect the Jarapassas for his survival. If he thinks that he can cling on to power by aiding and abetting the murderous family,he is thoroughly mistaken.

It is Organizations like you who put your life in line and brought in Gamarala to power, to change the course of our country. If he wishes to change course, warn him that, his days also would be numbered just like the Jarapassas.

Let him be sternly warned in this regard, we the people are with you.

It should be possible for someone to insert subtitles in English in these videos to be made available for circulation to the representatives of the foreign countries that keep praising the government’s performance so far.

    AIYO SIRISENA !

Three well presented points of view on the President’s uncalled for and unexpected outburst at the investigating agencies of his own Government.

The President should be well aware of what happened to Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, who as the common candidate in 2010 polled an impressive 4.8 Million votes island wide and thought that he was a Hero, but at the 2015 election contesting as a separate political party could muster only 28,000 votes island wide and became a Zero.

Even with a formidable opponent like MR, MY3 was able to win the Presidential election because the UNP backed him and the minority parties voted for him en bloc.

If he does not live up to the expectations of the 6.2 Million who voted for him, he too would become just another Zero like the former.

Now that he has put his foot in his mouth, it would be better if he could do some damage control and get out of this political mess that he has got into.

Rajapakse Family & Co. Inc. inclusive of Ex Navy personnel who are named in the court case of Avent Guard; Intelligence Services Chief, Secretary of UPFA Mr. Amaraweera and all others who are directly mentioned in the speech of Prof. Wijesuriya must be burning the mid night oil in consultation with the most “Eminent Lawyer” of the country Mr. Namal Rajapakse to file cases of “Defamation” and claim “Billions” as compensation for “Loss of Reputation” (if they are left with any). He has the experience, because already that has been done by him. But as a “Jemis Appuhamy” living in remote village, who listened to the President’s speech, I would very humbly request all of you to FIRST INFORM THE PRESIDENT and OBTAIN his BLESSINGS. If not it is not the LAW of the country. Please bear with me, that is my understanding “NOW”. I have given that advice to “Martin Singho” to defend his case in courts stating that the Police has not “Informed the President” and not “OBTAINED” approval before filing the case. For your information that was a FREE advice, because we ordinary folks did learn it only by listening to our Excellency the President; but not attending Law School and answering the final examination behind closed doors in private and in air conditioned comfort.

There is much speculation for this timed outburst – one could be that Gota may
have told MS that there is a “coup” mentality developng within the forces due
these arrests. Before he could check up via his intelligence services, he could not miss the Army event where he could curry favour with Army who
were present plus the Media delaing with the Night Club incident, by this
    outburst? Verdict:-

The Good Governance (GG1) has been overtaken by GG2 (Gon Gamarala)!!

President Sirisena is a product of SLFP. There is no way we can expect him to change as he had grown up with SLFP racist thinking for the past 40 years. He has now shown his true colours. He also feels that he cannot match with Ranil. He is mad that India first invited Ranil and then him. This has shown him that India values Ranil more than him. He is a simple Sirisena, as mentioned earlier he is a person who has been brought up with a racist views, what else can we expect from him. Today once again the Buddhist Monks, especially the Mahanayake and the Catholic Cardinal are involved in politics. This is a new trend taking place. Its time those who opposed Rajapakse to create a Yahapalanaya Government to rise up and direct the masses to realize the reality of today’s politics.

I share your disappointment, dear “Lankan”. The man has let us down. He’s got in to a funk.

I don’t think that we need deny that he had good impulses, which have now been buried.

I agree also that we must get rid of these parochially religious guys. Never forget what a wonderful man Sobhitha was.

Sirisena does not have the wit to know his limitations. Power is going to his head as it is to his nitwit son’s head. It is good for Sirisena if he pipes down and let the Bribery Commissioner and the judges do their constitutional duties. This is what comes when you make an illiterate a president.

President Sirisena has now discarded the ‘sil-redda’ he put on when he contested as the common opposition candidate and now we all can see him in his true colours. Now that it is crystal clear that yahapalanaya is an elusive mirage under the leadership of both President Sirisena and RW, the civil society organizations should found a new political force under a new leadership to carry forward the struggle to pursue the goal of ushering in a truly democratic administration committed to the norms of good governance.

Reading all the comments one thing is clear. Since the formation of the Yahapalana Government Sri Lanka has changed. Even the President cannot escape the wrath of the masses.

President Sirisena is a product of SLFP (40yrs). What else can we expect from him than being a clone of Rajapakse. He is definitely, with these statements, acts as a Rajapakse and above all wants to protect accused murderers and thieves.

Mahinda’s down fall was firmed up when he kicked the Chief Justice out, now President Sirisena has put his hand into the same pot, accusing the independent commissions.

    What will be his fate?

CT, Hats Off to you, we salute and most grateful for all your hard works and good effort to protect the country!!

We love the most revered Sobtha Thero. The Good human being had left his unfinished task in the hands of his able deputies. When one listened to these gentlemen, it I was like listening to the beloved Thero, like he is still living and kicking, and taking forward his vision and mission for the good of the people and country. Even though we lost him but he left behind his huge followers irrespective of their differences from all the communities.

Dear brothers and friends, go do it the way the beloved Thero did it, we are righ behind with you shoulder to shoulder in this noble task of regaining back our beloved country. Over 6 million of them, who listened to the beloved Sobitha Thero and brought the January 08 revolution are with you. We no longer shouldn’t let these dirty and dump politicians to play hell with the country and our lives.

How was this aberration possible? President Maithripala Sirisena must apologise to all those prosecutors whom he insulted, and whose spirits he has attempted to destroy.

We entrusted you with a certain job; usually people vote a leader in for a variety of reasons. That may be true even about how you were voted in.

However, the overwhelming reason was our wanting to cleanse our society of criminals, and to forge our way forward as a united country, all communities marching together. this was more true of your election than is usually the case.

A small section of those who voted for MaRa, and not for you Maithri, were the crooks whom you are now trying to molly coddle; the overwhelming majority who were with him then, and many still be with him, had believed the xenophobic hysteria that the Rajapaksas spouted. Now it is up to the investigators to set about their work without fear and irrespective of what positions the villains held.

What a disgrace Avant-garde was! We want to be rid of all war mongering and arms dealing. Certainly, there were members of the armed forces who were brave and committed, but war is NOT the best way, and is certinly not the way forward.

Maithri, your caving in is pathetic. We fully endorse what Dr Sarath Wijesuriya, and the other two speakers who continue the good work of Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thero, are saying.

This has been a horrible fortnight for you, Maithri; you now have to regain our trust, for which you must now unsay what you so foolishly spouted out. Sorry; it was all your own fault.

Congratulations To the three Citizen front Leader for the wonderful analysis on the President’s recent outburst and the state of affairs of the good governance . I believe the Presidents outburst although uncalled for, did happen for the betterment of the country and people craving for good governance. The Presidents outburst gave an opportunity for the Citizen front leaders to explain the history and the present situation of the good governance to the people and the corrective action to be taken by the Government and the Executive.
The Citizen front should start a member ship drive and disseminate knowledge of good governance among the people so that the country and the people benefit from it.
We the people are with you for the bold steps being taken to bring in equitable law and order and peaceful and harmonious living among all communities and people

The President has realized that after 2 years there is not a cent recovered nor a single conviction obtained. We were all taken for a ride by these jokers. The country is at a standstill. All what has happens is Billions of public money held by the government has been borrowed by a private company connected to the UNP for a song and lent back to the government at a higher rate of interest.

    It is very interesting,
In a just society, everyone must obey the law and follow the law!
Most interestingly, when you preach and punish others, one must be very careful,

Homosexuality, Soliciting sex, is still punishable offences in Sri Lanka,
So those who sought company of blue eyed boys, would have to think twice, when the FCID, goes to the opposition.

If you dig deep you can find faults with anyone. One must be extremely careful when you point fingers at others.

Mahavamsa says that King Elara gave capital punishment to his own son for a moderately serious traffic offense (running over a calf with his chariot). That was thousands of years ago. The Sri Lankan nation has progressed for 1000 s of years since that incident. Now, we are more advanced in our thinking. So, Don’t expect progressive President MS to emulate idiotic Elara.

      Edwin Rodrigo

“So, Don’t expect progressive President MS to emulate idiotic Elara.”

Because of Sri Lankan nation progressed in the 1000 years you seem to suggest that MS’s son is beyond justice.

If the progress is true, why not release all those prisoners languishing in those prisons under appalling conditions, and abolish police department, prisons, ministry of judiciary, courts, ….. ?

MS, MR, and fellow crooks may find it necessary to abolish them so they would have no compulsion to obey the law.

On second thought where would they keep their enemies? May be in unmarked graves.

Dear Mr. Edwin Rodrigo. I was going to make a comment referring to the Mahavamsa story about how King Elara passed capital punishment on his son for causing the death of a calf when I found that you had beaten me to it. Let us hope that President Sirisena will follow the shining example set by King Elara. Afer all most our Sinhala politicians quote the chapter and verse of Mahavamsa when they want to prove the greatness or the supremacy of the Sinhala race. So the President has got a godsend opportunity to demonstrate the commitment of the Sinhala race to the cause of justice and in fact, his own sense of justice by allowing the normal law enforcement process in this particular case to proceed unhindered.

Native Vadda: Thank you. I read his (GR’s) statement made from China and also the reaction of the DEPOSED King. The most disgusting and hilarious reactions came from Parliamentarians Wimal Weerawanse ; Mahindananda Aluthgamage and the President’s own Cabinet Minister S.B.Dissanayake. Did you hear Prof. Wijesuriya’s reference to a person by the name “Thiru Nadesan”? He is married to Ms.Nirupama Rajapakse, a nice of MR and one time Chairman of Hilton. This was the man who drove Ranil Wickramasinghe to the Temple Trees in the early hours of 9th January 2015. He was also the “Representative” in Sri Lanka for the “Air Bus” Co. who put through the “Airbus” purchase for SriLankan Air. This man is presently the “UNFORSEEN” Deal Maker who is operating from the “Back Stage” and not spoken and not known at all to the people. I am glad Prof. brought his name.

Native Vedda: I forgot to mention two more very interesting happenings in Courts yesterday. When the applications for Bail in both the cases of “Murder” and “Disappearance” of Lasantha Wickramatunga and Eknaligoda respectively were taken up in Courts, the “Eminent” Lawyers appearing for the accused – (all Army Intelligence personnel) referred to the President’s statement and pointed out even he (the President) accepts these are all “Politically Motivated Arrests” and requested the Judges to grant Bail. Of course, the Judges on hearing the objections of the prosecution, all Lawyers from the AG’s Dept. REFUSED bail. That is very encouraging to witness the emergence of an INDEPEDENT Justice System.
