You Are Sacked: Sirisena Informs Ranil

President Maithripala Sirisena, in a letter to UNP Leader Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, has formally informed that the latter has been sacked from the Prime Minister’s position.

Sirisena has informed Wickremesinghe that he has been sacked from the position according to article 42(4) of the constitution.

However, making a public statement from Temple Trees, a short while ago, Ranil Wickremesinghe said he was still the Prime Minister of the country as he has clearly demonstrated his majority support in the House.

The letter has been been faxed to the Prime Minister’s Office at 10.22 pm, nearly three hours after former President Mahinda Rajapaksa took oaths as the new Prime Minister.

In a civilized country with an independent judiciary you could challenge this as even the President is not above the constitution.
But we are talking about an under developed third world country with a kangaroo justice system.
    So all bets off.
Ranil should worry about white vans or powers to be playing the set play that was made on Kadirgama.

This is a coup that was well planned by Mahinda and Srilanka become another Pakistan. This clearly shows that there is no future for democracy or justice in Srilanka. God Bless Srilanka!

RE: You Are Sacked: Sirisena Informs Ranil.

Sirisena, You Are Sacked for being a Traitor, Sevalaya, Mala-Perethaya and Patholaya, by the 6.2 million who voted you as President.

Are stab wounds you inflicted on Mahinda Rajapaksa, healing?

The BASL If is really interested in the maintenance of the ideals of justice and democracy in the island, will immediately convene an emergency meeting of it’s members and take a decision about the constitutional crisis that has been caused.
It should on it’s own initiative move the SC to take a decision about upholding the Rule of Law in this moment of crisis the country faces.

This is a shame for the country. We are behaving like a banana republic, with the president and a has been president conspiring to oust the prime minister to seize power. Would Modi Mahinda allow this when he was president? These power hungry scumbags cannot let go of power, they want it again, and again, even after they put the country through hell. As for the people, they seem to forget things very easily.
They seem unable to put the past behind them, and yearn for corruption and nepotism again and again.

This is undemocratic. When Ranil has a majority there is no reason for Maithiripala Sirisena to scak him. Even if the sacking of the Prime Minister is by virtue of Article 42(4), there is practice that should be followed in a democratic manner. I have stated in an Article published in the Colombo Telegraph that the honeymoon between Maithiripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickremasinghe will become suspicious in the long run. Has Maithiripala Sirisena fallen to the trap laid by China and MR. Are we heading for dictatorship rule?

In 2015, when President Sirisena appointed Ranil as PM while there was an elected Government with a PM with a clear majority, Ranil did not say it is unconstitutional or undemocratic.

That was before the 19th amendment ……….. when the president had absolute power appoint anyone as the PM. :))

“Ranil did not say it is unconstitutional or undemocratic.”

Because the parliament didn’t disagree with the appointment.
Majority in the parliament had every confidence in Ranil. Else parliament could have voted him out of office.

Though Sirisena has appointed the War Criminal Hora as the Prime Minister, MR has must prove he command majority of MP’s support.

Parliament has to rectify the appointment.
Government is not elected by the people.
Government should command 50% + 1 vote in the parliament.

The UNP deserves this for having an odd “man”, a neuter as their leader . This is the second time the rascal got sacked. He cannot contest Presidency. So he brings in people he thinks can be manipulated. Once we ended up with a three wheel driver as mayor of Colombo because of Ranil’s scheming

In 2015 Ranil came on an anti corruption platform and committed the biggest fraud-the bond scam.

After his behaviour protecting Mahendran, the oily crook ,we lost all respect for the neuter.

Did he put MR who he said was very corrupt behind bars ? Why not, if MR was so corrupt ? Ranil was making deals with MR.

Even last week at a social gathering Ranil boasted of his family history and of being a old student of a Sri Lankan school called Royal ( named after British Royalty) People just hate this kind of insensitive nonsense. Where are the old Royalists now ? Hiding in Switzerland where they have taken their money.

What are ” tough people’s political leaders” like Malik, Maropane, Charitha, Mahendran and Sagala doing ? Ranil’s co- job career is over. Now it is time to charge the fraud for the Bond scam.

How naive. You think for one minute the Rajapaksa’s are not thieves? There is an entire family, that got wealthy the last time around. Their ill gotten gains are stashed carefully where no one can find it, and money laundered in various countries. Sri Lankans never learn lessons, they want the old crooks back again and again.

Rishard has already changed his alliance. Hakeem too would. A large number of UNPers would dessert again and join Joint Comedy Club. With 2/3 they will change the 19A.

My question is if 19A can be ignored in dismissing Ranil. why can’t Old King being the president again?

What is the Diplomatic circle thinks of this? Will China now write off some loans?

The dyanamite Ranil planted to West and Tamils has blasted off on his hand, it seems.

    Alright, there is THE LETTER.
I am afraid, guys, there is a teeny weeny hiccup.
I just want to know who is the ponnya in the JO who initiated this idea?
I know for sure this is NOT Mahinda’s idea. He was given many dead ropes since July 2015.
    Ranil CAN’T challenge THIS LETTER.
His removal is in accordance with the Constitution as per the powers vested to the President by the 1978 Constitution in appointing or removing the Prime Minister.
I just want to say for the umpteenth time, I don’t trust Maithri when it come to anything to do with Mahinda.
Now he can say, “alright I appointed Mahinda as the PM, but I am not responsible for anything happened afterwards.”
I said many times, compared to Maithri’s canniness, MR and JO are kindergarten kids.
However, MR has DULY sworn in today as the Prime Minister.
Nobody can remove him without challenging his position in the Courts.
Mahinda IS THE new Prime Minister, right now.
Ranil can go to hell, until …..
Anyways, we should rejoice the moment.
I am afraid I can’t “retire” right now.
Guys, did you see the face of the news girl on Derana when she announced the news of Mahinda’s swearing in? (I am sorry I don’t remember her name. She is a prominent news anchor.) Well, what I tried to say was, she looked shocked in the negative way. She was not happy at all. I think Derana supports Gotabhaya not Mahinda.
I am happy for you, Honourable Mahinda Rajapaksa, PM. The President (looks like) has tried to correct one of his major blunders by giving this position you so deserve.
The former Prime Minister RW should take a break now.

Sirisena and his cabals think that they did a great job but the world would shit on his head for doing a despicable, disgusting and disgraceful thing, and he lost all the respect. He is now sleeping with the thieves, robbers and murderers. He became a utterly naked man for the world knows he is so much greedy for power, and resorts to anything and sleep with any devils to stay in power, Ranil and UNP are easy on him, MR and cabal only waited to come to power by any means, and now certainly Sirisena would face their music and they wouldn’t play to his tune. Wait and see, today onwards, it’s finish and match over for Sirisena. By this, Sirisena did a big favour for Ranil and UNP for now all know his true colours, and he is a third rate snake.

      Burt
No. 3 indicated in your comment under 19A was passed by 2/3 majority in the Parliament making it legal.
No. 4 and 5 is not legal until it is approved by people through a Referendum.
“On the advice of the Election Commission” sound hilarious. How could an Election Commission be above the President, though Maithri was made to believe so.

He is in for a good lesson from MR and cabal, they egarly waited for this moment, and it’s going to be a unsurmountable task for him to get out of this mess. He is truly and well ask for it owing to his stupidity and pig headedness.

Ranil must be thankful he was just sacked and not hacked to death and dismembered alive like what the Saudi despot did to their dissident and Washington post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Now that RW’s security is curtailed, he better look out for these murderers because the Mahinda and marranna Sirra cannibals are out to eat the premier alive just in time for HALLOWEEN! This fool does not understand or stubbornly does not want to understand that it is the majority in the country that decides the prime minister in a democracy and not the majority in the house.the current parliament does not reflect the will of the people because the UNP frittered away all the goodwill it collected in 2015 when people gave them a second chance hoping that they would go after the previous rogues but instead found that they were not only sheilding them but also continued the culture of bribery and corruption.criticism after criticism of UNP just flowed down like water off a ducks back which is a trade mark of ranil and his disdain for what people think.

i am wondering whther you can appoint two people to the same post of PM.Ranil took his oaths from sirisena and until he gets the fax he is still the PM so MR’s appointment seems void.Did sirisena do it purposely so that MR’s position is always voidable at any time he chooses it to be?

Yes, Gota and Basil are still US citizens, and for them unethically messing up in other country’s affairs is an offence and they consider it unforgivable. They might think Trump is least interested in this but their institutions are solid and free to act, if anyone acts against their values, and they wouldn’t take it kindly. All that was clear in the recent statement from the State Department – all parties should respect and follow the constitution.

This episode exposes one thing very clearly that Mithri has no leadership qualities. With the executive powers he has he could have replaced Ranil, appointed a lame duck as a primier and governed the country directly.

Some here believe that that the present economic crisis can be solved by continuing things the same way as is. Well that is a pipe dream. Changing the same people again and agian and hoping for a different result is a example of how stupid our population is.Our politicians from independence have distributed goodies without consideration about the economy and made Sri Lanka a lethergic welfare state. The uneducated poplace gobbles up everything without asking how it is being funded or where the money going to come.Just now I heard the lottery seller saying ” Today Koti tomorrow Party”. It is a apt slogan for our country. Party till the coffers run dry.

Sirisena has informed Wickremesinghe that he has been sacked from the position according to article 42(4) of the constitution.

The said that he sacked the position RW according to article 42(4) of the constitution.
That means he can sack MR according to article 42(4) of the constitution. after one month

So much could change just because a relationship ended. The government in business may waste time and money without rendering service. In the end the public pays in taxes
