Government’s Plans Tomorrow Near SC: Halt Hate Campaign Against Judiciary – Lawyers Collective

“Based on media statements and information available, Lawyers Collective understands that certain groups within the Government are planning an ugly protest against the judiciary in front of the Superior Courts complex on 3rd January 2013. The said protest is expected to take place during the hearing of the Impeachment challenges which is scheduled to be taken up on the 3rd. On a previous occasion, the Government-sponsored goons displayed an insulting protest, when the Chief Justice was leaving the Courts to attend the PSC. Despite the media exposure of how Government Ministers were directly involved in that, no steps were taken to prevent repetition of such insults” says the Lawyers Collective.

Lawyers Collective therefore urges the politicians not to push the country towards anarchy and desist from all actions embarrassing and compromising constitutional values. The day the politicians and State organs decide not to follow court’s decisions, Sri Lanka will cease to be a constitutional democracy, and would then be a complete authoritarian state. Lawyers Collective urges all political leaders and all organs of the state to preserve the constitutional and democratic values and not to allow the country to fall into a total lawless state.

Exactly correct. If the lawyers claim they are truly professional they should demonstrate their character not by words nut by deeds. Whether they like it or not the way they behave on 04th Dec 2012 before the Supreme Court simply suggests that they are nothing more than just another unenlightened bunch with no substance.

you cannot define a group of over 10,000 by the actions of less than 100. cuts across both lines. and one wrong doesn’t justify other wrongs. what you should be concerned about is ensuring that neither happens, not to say since one bad deed happened, we should allow for other bad deeds to happen!

Every action has a reaction. Those days Supreme Court did every dirty thing to make happy Bucher Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family. Even present CJ can’t escape from that blame. We want to understand this situation in an intelligent way. The Supreme Court is not temple of truth anymore.

IF THE APPEAL COURT HAD ISSUED NOTICES TO EACH OF THE P S C MEMBERS TO PRESENT THEMSELVES OR A REPRESENTATIVE TO THE APPEAL COURT AND THEY DO NOT RESPOND THEN AN ARREST WARRANT WOULD BE ISSUED,ON EACH ONE OF THEM FOR CONTEMPT OF COURT.
THE ASSHOLE SB DISSANAYAKE FOUND HIMSELF LOCKED UP. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE PARLIAMENT WHEN IT HAPPENED.

It is a good point. When SB was sentenced was he an MP ? If parliament was supreme why was he jailed ? He could have used this supremacy fact as his defence and avoided going to the courts at all.

The whole country is run by MARA, GOTA, BARA AND CHAMA RAJAPAKSE ENTERPRISES INC…….The rest of the Parliament is occupied by PIN PADI VANDIBATTAYAS.
