  1. God what tosh! The role of Civil society and NGOs is to hold governments ACCOUNTABLE!
NGOs must start working with and supporting FUTA which is real civil society and not donor driven civil society like NPC…
There are long and short term trends in politics and international affairs and the Commonwealth circus in Colombo was one little episode which will soon fade in light of the regime’s dictatorial actions..

JP time you found another job and stop writing drivel to milk the donors for this sort of SUPERFICIAL tosh..!

  2. The few participants of a workshop cannot be considered as “Civil society”. Few Colombo based persons get together and form an NGO also cannot be a civic organization as they solely remain on foreign funds and also for their own sake. These persons time to time come out with beautiful stories(articles) to encourage west donors to consider release of funds to enjoy good life on others accounts.

Mr.JPs article really gives some better ideas but the motivation behind is suspicious. The NPC dumped millions of USS for more than ten years for “PEACE” but the achievement was NIL.
