When President Obama stands up for health care reform, he stands up for women’s health. Already, 20 million women have received preventive care without a co-pay because of the health care reform law. When the health care reform law is fully implemented, women will no longer be discriminated against by insurance companies, and essential services including cancer screenings, birth control, and HIV testing and counseling will be covered with no co-pays.

The US health care reforms on women’s health is a great step towards availing affordable health care services to women. However, a lot more still needs to be done so that every American can get comprehensive health care services regardless of gender or financial status.
