Ada Derana Calls President “Maithripaka”

Ada Derana today called President Sirisena ‘Maithripaka’ in their story published by their website at 4:34 pm titled “This is not an attack against me, but against our culture”.

Untitled Ada Derana MS PakaEarlier even Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe and MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara also locked horns in parliament as well when Vasu went overboard with anger calling Ranil a `pakaya`.

Later Ranil hit back at Nanayakkara calling him a ‘dried pumpkin’ who had lost the prime of his life.

“He is a dried pumpkin. This is how defeated people behave,” the Prime Minister said when referring to Nanayakkara’s use of language and his theatrics in parliament.

However the direct translation of the word ‘pakaya’ means ‘penis’.

According to Ada Derana’s Facebook indicator attached to the news time, the website says that 117,600 people like this story at the time of writing.

It is still uncertain if the prime news website Ada Derana had made a ‘typo’ or if this was done intentionally as at the time of writing nearly three hours has lapsed since this story was uploaded.

Ada Derana is owned by businessman Dilith Jayaweera and Minister Sarath Amunugama’s daughter Varuni.

This is what they called Freedom of expression.

In Rajas days, it was only him and his family s purasaram were in tabloid.

Today, even president is being attacked by local medias.

I hate this derana – from that day on, they only lick the balls of former president even if the bugger somtiems does not allow … that is not to be called as derana …

no doubt temple and prison visiting king of the culprits are behind all these. Let him roam this way until the verdict of the murdered Sportler is made. We can count an another year… we are not impatient.

All rights respecting people will back MY3 and RW for his law and order issues than hang on with former king.

I think if this was the case in Europe, the sender or media instituation should seek an apology, becuase head of state is head of state. He is the first

Uncle Samuel, you can tell all these bogus stories to silly minded people like you who live in overseas. We have been living in Sri Lanka in Raja’s days as well. CT to Ethalaya to Sunday Times, to DM to all the muddy websites were there even at that time and criticizing MR in big time. Sometimes in filth.

Really, I nevether thought you the ilk would see it that way.

Meaning, intoxications would stay like cemented in your hearts- cause, Raja and his media units fooled you as nothing could help you heal back.
Else, knowing all the truths, that are becoming clear -even crystal like.. day to another.. further to stay on licking mode … is pathetic.

I only know everyone is not given healthy brains to think about.

        Good luck Madhavi.

Looking at my keyboard, to the left is k, ti the right is ; and :

      above L is i, and p

      Below is ,

So, the possible ‘typo’ variations for Maitripala are

      Matripaka, Matripaia, Matripaoa, and Matripapa,

Matripaia, ‘typo’ would have got the same meaning as Matripala.

        Pala

        pala
Brazilian slang for someone who obviously looks high. Usually used to describe someone who has gotten high and is out in public and people can tell that he/she is high.

Translation of Spanish pala into English:

        (para cavar)
        spade
        (para mover arena, carbón)
        shovel

Did the -palas shovel for the Portuguese?

So, Maitri-pala, Maitri-spade is shoveling into those who voted for “Yahapalanaya” , and the bras are being shoveled around.

        So what is correct? Maitri-pala, Matri-paka, Matri-paia, Matri-paoa, and or Matri-papa?

      Ada Derana,

RE: Ada Derana Calls President “Maithripaka”

Mr. Matripala Sirisena Video, regarding the Western Music show and Throwing of Bras and Kissing on stage.

Ada, Derana, why do you think you are justified in calling Mr. Maitripala Sirisena, Mairipaka?

Is it because of MaRa, Mahinda Rajapakpaksa stolen public funds at work? Why don’t you call Mahinda Rajapaksa, Raja-paka? MaRa deserves it.

Or, are you going to hide behind a ‘typo’ because L is next to k?

        Dear Amarasiri,

It is highly probable that a person in a hurry made a genuine typo error because ‘k’ sits next to ‘L’ on the keyboard.

Everyone agrees that the news site should have been far more careful, and the mistake looks bad.

I am fairly certain the President will have the sagacity to forgive and forget.

ADA DERANA should reflect on its good fortune for having had a President who is not vengeful.

They lost a lot of public support for their biased political stances, and this will only add to the public ridicule.

‘ADA DERANA should reflect on its good fortune for having had a President who is not vengeful.

          Yes.

If it was MaRa, the Gota White vans would have been busy, and somebody at Ada Derana would have been missing, like the many others from 2005 to 2015 January 9, 2015.

So, let’s make a ‘typoo’ for Mahinda Rajapaksa

Rajapaksa, Raja-paksa. Replace s with the ‘typo’. Raja-pakaa, is the best fit.Ada derana will not make that “typo”.

          Raja-pakaa

          Raja-pakda

          Raja-pakra

Holier Now? President Maitripala, a lot of Sri Lankan Women went bare breasted. that was the Sinhala Buddhist tradition.

Given below is the Bali Tradition one -year before the Japanese invaded Bali. Not every women had a “Thana Patiya”, bra.

What does it say about 21st century culture and sophistication that we compare people to monkeys and can’t get past our breast obsession as if we are 13 year old boys?

This is a wolf cry. One knows what a stingray tail and do. There a description added to that as “Sinhala Buddhist”. It is not a typo. What ever in pot came out on the ladle. These cruel minds, with a cool and clam attitude, kept 300,000 Tamils with out food water, place to go relief the nature call, eventually massacred 150,000 of them without any mercy. For month these poor creature begging for their life. Now these wolves are on high tall chair and calling them as “Sinahal Buddhist”. But they are in the OILS report as war criminals. These guys are blocking the inquiry.

The Ada Derana may claim a defense or issue an apology or may just ignore it. But the example has been set by the leaders of the country. Mudslinging is the path to go.

I have just been studying this question of how the people entrapped and held as hostage by the LTTE were fed.
My conclusion is that Prabhakaran took some of what the government sent via the ICRC for the privileged use of the LTTE cadre, and also hiding them away as reserves. BUt the ICRC and the UN/WFP delivered more enough food to the conflict zone.

There was Food entering the entrapped zone as the ICRC which was present throughout. ICRC suspended operation on 15th May 2009, since most civilians had successfully escaped the LTTE entrapment. According to the ICRC, the government issued the ICRC 534,227 metric tons of food and medicine to the conflict zone . In addition UN/WFP convoys provided food and medicine, and the UN-Darusman report mentions 7,435 metric tons of food delivered over 5 months, but omits the 534,227 tons from ICRC. By omitting the latter, the UN-Darusman-report gives the wrong picture. Is the food provided insufficient? A measure of food needs acceped by the UN can be obtained from thr UN-run Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps in northern Kenya:
It has ~535,000 refugees, and was supplied 10,000 metric tons/month by UN/WFP
This was prior to a 20% cut in November 2013. This suggests that the 300,000-hostage population held by the LTTE would need 5610 tons/month, or about 28,400 tons for 5 months. Hence, using typical UN/WFP food-supply rates, it it clear that roughly four times the needed amount of supplies have been provided by the Sri Lankan government via the ICRC, and the UN/WFP combined. Dr. Shanmugarajah, the Medic who worked with the trapped people to the end categorically refutes Gordon Weiss’s claim’s of malnutrition in the captive population. Given the amount of food supplied, and the state of health of the people who arrived at Menik Camp, the standard of nutrition was superior to many refugee camps run by the UN.

Repeated lies, as if recited GAYANA to them, Rajapakshe media units have cemented those views in vulnerable, gulliable, gawky folks across the nation. For that, Rajaakshe was the expert in this country. Else, even if media of the day reveal lot more high profile abuses but not many seem to change their stances easily.

The President being referred to by an derogatory term by an online blog is the final insult – but he has only himself to blame.
He needs an advisor who will moderate/monitor his public utterances.
Most heads of state have such officials.

He has much more serious issues of governance assisted by misfits called ministers and should conserve/channel his energy on them instead of wasting it on trivia like public ‘shows’.

    • 18
      5

Totally agree. Looks like he is arrogant to take advice and thinks he is ready for the job, just because he was in politics most of his life. He does not understand this is totally a new ball game.

    • 2
      1

While I agree with “Point of View” below who says:

“He does not understand that this is totally a new ball game,”

I’m glad that Maithri came out with that outburst. The only thing that I am anxious about is his conjoining phrase: Sinhala-Buddhist”. That could get used against all that the new government is trying to do.

As for “Sting_Ray tails” – who on earth takes that literally? When angry all of us swear, I guess! Many use obscenities, Maithri used his wonderful command of Sinhala idiom. However, he was careful to say it was the organisers who deserved a whipping, not the bra-throwing girls. Of course, none of us would have said this sort of thing. We have heard of more remarkable things happening, and not at pop concerts:

      http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/11861875/Last-Night-of-the-Proms-turns-racy-as-fans-throw-knickers-at-Jonas-Kaufmann.html

Incidentally, apart from the picture of Jonas Kaufmann exhibiting the lingerie he had earned, what a wonderful panoramic view of the Royal Albert Hall that first picture affords!

I wonder what Maithri’s reaction would have been if the girls had gifted something racier than bras?

“Justice”, you are undoubtedly reflecting the views of most mature and rational “Westernised” folk when you say:

“He needs an advisor who will moderate/monitor his public utterances.”

If that happens, he will cease to be himself! I only wish he had been as careful with his description of himself, (I mean he ought to have said: “I am a Buddhist, and I am a Sinhalese”). He was so careful in singling out the guys he wanted whipped. And as for whipping, since he hasn’t so far tried to get extra-judicial in imposing any punishment, he would now have to get parliament to pass legislation about “Sting-Ray Tails”.

Incidentally, isn’t there a danger of Sting-Rays getting extinct. I’ve met a fellow while snorkelling in a sandy lagoon, but not many Sri Lankans seem to know what these “maduwas” are like. At least we learn a lot of folksy idiom listening to our President. I must say this for myself at least: my desire to use my mother tongue expressively is growing by the day as a result of listening to Maithri.

At the end of all this, I think that what we must be concerned about is that some guys want to make money – never mind how. As for Maithri, the problem so far has been that he hasn’t been getting indignant about anything. I don’t particularly care about his seizing on the wrong thing! Hopefully, it’ll get extrapolated.

Let us treat this as a bit of comedy!

    Guys

Might it not be an honest (but unfortunate) mistake ? Look at the positioning of “L” and “K” on the keyboard.

Also, you have to look at it in the light of the standard of English used on sites like “Ada Derana” and “LeN”

I am sure they do very little or no editing before publishing

Spot on ‘Malu’. You read my mind and therefore, I call you ‘Kochchi Miris’. I often make mistakes like these but unfortunately none of these websites let you edit one’s comment after submitting. Only ‘facebook’ let you do that. What is the big issue here anyway?. Words are words. They do not interpret what you really are. Only the people with a ‘guilty conscience’ will take it to heart.

If you guys call this typo of Derana some 3rd rate behavior against the head of state, what do you guys call the media conduct of CT when the author of the above article blows a bloody typo out of proportion and indulges their lame whims and fancies because they have grudges and feuds to settle with the likes of Dilith and Waruni’s father. By now folks at Ada Derana have corrected the typo and the shameless bug-vultures who run this CT website desperately try to sell that typo out and boost through the above screenshot the traffic to the website.
Isn’t this much more shameless when comparing with the so-called shamelessness of the girl who have allegedly thrown female undergarments at Enrique (The real deal is that a guy is said to have done that while being hidden among girls there) and that of the girl who kissed and hugged him in public?
If there’s a modicam of shame in the individuals who run CT, they’d better take this down before some other retards get to know this and vandalize Facebook and other social media with lame memes!

considering the most despicable conduct of Gamaralage Maithreepala, it is the most suitable word to be used.

since, independence, who else has conducted in the most unethical manner than gamarala.
first ,he conspired with chandrika and foreign agents to defeat mahinda while having being the secretary of SLFP. if he was a gentleman and man of good conduct he should have inform the party leaders and left.

then having defeated the legitimate candidate of UPFA he came back and became the leader and did everything to defeat UPFA while being leade.
then now what is he doing ,giving worst kind of bribes to parliametains and others to destroy legitimate opposition.
is this the conduct ,we expect from a executive president.
no previous leader stoop to such low and unethical conduct .
I may not approve policies of PM Ranil but he will not do such dirty things.

so gamarala is paying for his misdeeds and despicable conduct.

hope his days are numbers so that our beloved motherland will be saved by nature/God taking appropriate action for his unpardonable karma(action)

      Matarage,

“since, independence, who else has conducted in the most unethical manner than gamarala.”

A mutt and an extremely biased douche bag would only utter such nonsense ,hadn’t your beloved Mafia king successfully destroyed seven generations of Sri lanka hiding under the “defeating terrorism” bogey ? who gave official recognition for drug barons ? why was Kudu Dumia given a monitoring defence minister portfolio when he was engaged in drugs smuggling ? why did your Mafia king abruptly halt the kudu Lansa’s house search by personally visiting there by a chopper ? why were johnny , Arundika and Wasantha were allowed to continue in their illegal brewery trade ? why the hell james packer was asked to start a mega gambling casino at the heart of colombo ? hadn’t Julampitiya Amaraya , Saruwa Sunil , Sampath Vidanapathirana et al gone on killing and raping innocent women under the direct blessing of the Mafia king ? Hadn’t your Mafia king literally sold the whole nation to China ? Hadn’t he behaved as if he was the owner of Sri lanka ? Hadn’t he asked artists to sing hosannas for him portraying him as the king ? didn’t that cheap woman Saheli Rochana Gamage sing a song depicting him as the king ?

MY3 ‘s errors are nothing compare to that evil man Rajapaksa ;remember we the silent people are patiently waiting to see justice is done to the whole nation .

@Bee obviously you are the one without brains, as they say bees have their stings in their ass, but not much brains. So let me take that poisonous sting out of your backside and give you back some grey matter too. It may be too easy to pretend innocence and to look for a smoke screen behind typos, having first done a deliberate act of ignominious behavior. Reputed and high class media organizations have proof readers to check the accuracy of their published materiel, especially this sort of items relating to the President; only the Sri Lankan type shit-slingers that deliberately avoid such processes when their motive is vulgar as in this case.
The public outrage that is building up against this activity and against CT for placing it here and so lowering its journalistic standard to gutter level does not need qualifying: read it yourself in these blogs. Could it just be possible that you were the architect of this mischief?

Many are missing the point here.

We have a president of a country who is calling his countrymen to violence. He wants the organisers of a show whipped with a ‘madu walige’. There is no typo error in his speech. He is supposed to be a president of a country which he himself has claimed to be a Buddhist country. My3 did not mince his words when he said such words.

For heavens sake, he is a president of a country. He should be in the forefront against violence of any nature. He should uphold the law. And all such venom and violence he wants to unleash on organisers of a show. Sri Lanka I still believe is a democracy. People can make choices. No one forced anyone to go to these shows. People chose to do so. Basically it is called supply and demand.

I rue the day I voted for My3 and asked all my kith and kin to do so. One thug is out and another with a ‘madu walige’ is in.

If Ada Derna resorts to this kind of insult to the elected president what future Sri Lanka has except disunity and disharmony.
MARA and his team has done their part between 2009 and 2010. At the same time they messed up the governance between 2011 and 2014.

It is time for MaRa his siblings and children to gracefully leave the political scene. That way they can elevate the status of SL in the world arena.
Trying to come back to power with so many underhand methods can make SL to a point of no return.

The President should not lie low when people go over board and come
out with dirty words, calling the leaders, including the 1st citizen
of the country, names that give dirty meaning. He should nib it in the bud by getting the police to investigate such quotings in the media,& political meetings. He should set discipline among the citizens and
the press. Today we read or hear a barrage of criticisms in the media
and tabloids using foul languages and mostly directed against the President and the PM. and both are quiet about it. Recent retaliatory articles against the President on the concert issue and during his somersault period prior to the elections are an example and PM got belly full on CBG Mahendran’s issue and the recent budget. This is the 1st time we heard trade unionists thrashing at the Finance and Prime ministers and some called for their resignations. People have misunderstood the meaning of free speech in a democratic country and use filth with the newly found freedom given by the Govt.
The press and the tabloids should follow a code of conduct and the Prez. should ensure that any violators should be punished severely
and permits withdrawn before its too late . Freedom of speech does not mean that anybody can scold anybody else in dirty language. The President should speak for all religions and all races on the discipline that they should maintain as rightful citizens instead of speaking only to Sinhala Buddhists and their culture as other communities too need disciplined, god fearing society.
Why don’t the govt. follow what the past regime did on this matter and meet it half way, not using white vans or black defenders.

In Germany, I have met guys their first names are “Pako”.

This should be a typo – but Derana should have to contact Prez and seek for an appology.

Anyways, so humble are Srilankans- perhaps in 200 years or so.

Above all, he is the head of state of this country. – An apology is IMPERATIVE

Response shows the polarization of the Sri Lankan society. Both parties are mislead by two different political leaderships. You guys are the reason why corruption thrives in Sri Lanka because you have elected these idiots to the so called Parliament; the den of thieves.
