Aiming At The Wrong Target: BBS On “Unfortunate Attack On Grandpass”

“After the unfortunate incident took place in Grandpass some media institutes published to show that indirectly Bodu Bala Sena has some link to this situation. Even it was said that Bodu Bala Sena has a practice of deny of such attacks after the incidents.” says Dilanthe Withanage, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bodu Bala Sena.

Sending an email to the Colombo Telegraph he said; “We were highlighted with incidents such as No Limit, Fashion Bug etc. Now we are targeting with Grandpass incident in Colombo.”

We published below the email in full;

After the unfortunate incident took place in Grandpass some media institutes published to show that indirectly Bodu Bala Sena has some link to this situation. Even it was said that Bodu Bala Sena has a practice of deny of such attacks after the incidents.

Dilanthe Vithanage and a BBS monk

We feel it is very wrong to aim at us in media in such situations without proper evidence . At the same time it prevents public to know about the real culprits. In the past in international media it was reported that BBS was involved in attacking Muslims and mosques in Kandy, Dambulla, Anuradhapura etc. Destroying Churches in Madakalapuwa  and other places. Then we were highlighted with incidents such as No Limit, Fashion Bug etc. Now we are targeting with Grandpass incident in Colombo.

We have to say that we never promote or involved in Violence. We never got involved in any of the above mentioned attacks. What Bodu Bala Sena did in the past and doing in the present are all public activities. We never hide and fight. We struggle always openly. We criticize things openly. We criticize government leaders and opposition leaders, we criticize Buddhist Leaders as well as Other Religious leaders when the lie or doing wrong things. We always struggle against any form of extremism. We do not worry whether it is Sinhala or Tamil or Muslim extremism.

We blame one Sinhala extremist group and Muslim extremist organization , both supported by some extremists elements  for the Grandpass Incident. Government should investigate this clearly and punish them.. Soon after this incident BBS has used FB and other Media to express our concern and to be calm and not to take law into people hand. We even communicated to our coordinators to stop spreading rumors. We have a huge responsibility of protecting the peace prevailing in the country. We all lost 30 years due the war. we should not repeat it again.

Anyway we have demanded authorities during the last year to stop construction of new religious places of any religion and prepare standards similar to how it is handled in developed nations. If we allow this form of adhoc constructions of religious places definitely there can be unnecessary tensions in the society.

We strongly feel ineffectiveness of government departments for decades to be blamed for reasons for such situations. Without proper guidance and supervision of the government on building religious places of all religions, no control of unethical conversions , unsupervised funding and anti social activities funded by international organizations. System of education which promote social division  is also to be blamed for such situations .

We never attacked any Muslims, Muslim shops or Muslim mosques. We challenge anybody to give evidence to prove if such allegations are there.

Bodu Bala Sena is a civil society movement led by Buddhist monks and other layman to promote the development of Buddhist society in Sri Lanka. We strive to build a firm foundation for the development of a holistic Buddhist society based on Buddhist values and ethos.

We strongly feel we need to first unite majority of Sinhalese who were divided for centuries. If they are divided we cannot expect any form of social integration in the country. Government social integration programs are not effective as the do not wardress the root cause of the issue. We want to run a very effective social integration movement where first Sinhalese will be united and then all other small communities will be given necessary protection and shelter under the umbrella of Buddhist Leadership. We respect all citizens of the country and all need to enjoy equal rights. But we should not promote privileges for anyone. Unfortunately some are fighting to have privileges for some groups which promotes social division.

Several people have used various labels to describe Bodu Bala Sena such as racist, extremist and carrying anti-muslim sentiments. We oppose to the use of such tags to portray the activities and intentions of Bodu Bala Sena. We are aware that some of these allegations and misunderstandings stem from the fact that we have launched several campaigns against issues involving Muslim interests, such as the halal-campaign and the Kuragala mosque. However, this do not mean that we are opposed to Muslims in general, but that we have identified certain practices that we find unethical. We oppose to any unethical behavior, whether it is committed by Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Hindu or any other religious faith or group.

There are also circulating rumors of how we are funded. Such conspiracies either attest our financial situation in relation to patrons in national politics, or various international agencies (CIA/ Mossad / Germany /Norway) which fund our activities to correlate with their international agendas. Bodu Bala Sena has nothing to hide in terms of funding.  Some accuse of us as BBS is created and supported by Government and specially by the defense secretary.. We categorically deny all such allegations.

We believe that despite the fact that Buddhism is the foremost religion of Sri Lanka the Sinhala Buddhist majority lacks a dedicated effort to bring about an encompassing structural change to revive Buddhist society in Sri Lanka. It is our aim to bring forth this dedication, and bring about a Buddhist society based on the values and ethos of Lord Buddha.

Objectives and Goals

Our basic aim is to bring a structural change through the Sri Lankan society by promoting values of Buddhist society, Buddhist development, Uplifting of Buddhist sacred sites and a dedicated effort to counter anti-Buddhist activities. From these topics we have developed 12 basic goals which we work to achieve:

Buddhist society

(1) Implement various programmes that would contribute for the creation of a Buddhist Society

(2) Work for an independent society of bhikkhus without bonds to party politics nor political patrons.

(3) Propagation of Dhamma; To help creating an environment conducive for the promulgation of the messages of the Buddha, Buddhist philosophy and traditions locally and internationally.

Buddhist development

(4) Temple Authority; To re-establish the traditional role and functions of the temples as regional centres of development working on areas of religious, social, cultural and economic sectors.

(5) To re-establish the Bhikkhuni order and a respective organization in Sri Lanka.

(6) Education; To streamline and modernize the bhikkhu education system and prepare them for the challenges of globalization.

(7) Set up organizations for Buddhist social development, and initiate a network between Buddhist social organizations for better coordination and cooperation.

(8) Identify and raise funds for Buddhist social development and bring forth an establishment of a Buddhist Development bank.

(9) Promote Buddhist entrepeneurs, especially younger ones.

Buddhist sacred sites

(10) Identify and support Buddhist places of worship andBuddhist sacred sites which faces hardships, and improve their conditions.

(11) Protect and safeguard sites of archaeological importance, and promote their existence internationally.

Counter anti-Buddhist activities

(12) To take necessary steps to face in an organized manner the threats and challenges from various anti-Buddhist forces both locally and internationally against Buddhism, Buddhist places of worship and Buddhists. Taking and instituting social and legal actions against such activities.

All these Gaanu 5 Naanasaara Babadu Balu Sena policies, Goals and Objectives are only in the paper just read but not for Implement. Like Mahinda Rajapaksha never read the “Mahinda Chinthanaya” Dilantha Vithanage and Gaanu 5 Bababu Balu Senawa never read their policies as they are written by some one else.

It was considered normal for people to marry at that age even up until recently. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, Mary was 10 years old when she gave birth to Jesus. It’s not uncommon in many parts of the world to see 10 year old girls married. 50 years ago gals got married in their teens (ask your mother or check it out) 100 years ago women got married at the age of 11 or 12. This was barely 100 years ago.
You are talking about 1400 years history. Check how old was Vihara Maha Devi and Mahamaya when they got married.
Everytime you mention Aysha’s story for every write-ups.
Are you really mad to relate one thing to defame a religion with no facts? Aisha was 9 years old.

Lets talk about polyanrdy in your back yard Leela. According to ‘Oxford University Press – USA, ‘Best-described form of associated polyandry, however, is from Sri Lanka. Among the Sinhalese of Sri Lanka, a woman may marry two men, but rarely more than two. Unlike fraternal polyandry, which begins as a joint venture, Sinhalese-associated polyandry begins monogamously. The second husband is brought into the union later. Also unlike fraternal polyandry, the first husband is the principal husband in terms of authority. A woman and her husbands live and work together, although economic resources are held independently. Both husbands are considered fathers to any children the wife bears’.
How about you LEELA? Are you as a result too…?

I agree that Buddhism is supposed to be peaceful but some people have different interpretations of Gauthama Buddha’s teachings which is used to defend Sinhala Buddhism. We should look at the problem from all angles. If President is quiet, then we must think because any president will always do what is best for the country. Maybe he is interpreting Buddha’s teachings differently to defend people.

The president and BBS surely also know buddhism so if Buddhism is peaceful, why is he allowing it? Gauthama Buddha preached peace, which is how one group interprets but others interpret differently. Some monks say Buddha if alive would have allowed BBS actions but again its an interpretation. Its confusing though. Lets just practise restraint. We should work for peace.

It is obvious that the BBS cannot exist without state support. They seem to be trying to provoke a retaliatory attack, hopefully on a temple. If this happens, does the government then want to use it as an excuse to postpone elections/declare martial law/something else? They are playing with fire.

about The story of somarama ,being hired to assassinate by Late.Madam Sirimavo,is the worst lie that ever circulated , this is one of the main problems in Sri Lanka ,people start slandering others on hear say, the truth is he was assassinated , we really do not to date know who was the criminal, but definitely it was done by buddhist extremist, not sure if it was a Monk or not, but the assassination was because they felt betrayed by late Mr.Bandaranaike as he did not fulfil his promise of Sinhala only ,and Late. Madam Sirimavo , when elected as (First Women PM in The world)as PM. fulfilled it.

The rest of the stories circulated are garbage.

Please honor the dead.. who is not here to defend themselves…(Esp Muslims)

Why dont you just browse the Youtube and type BBS you can listen and hear the speeches for your own evidence rather we try to prove it.

BTW -This often accusation of Islam being a Religion of terror is always based on being contextual,as to disprove the statement, may be we need to meet up face to face ,sit down with The Quran and clear it out,but is it worth the time ? the energy? after all, almost all of us as humans have a tendency to oversee something of greater significance in our life on earth to all of us & that is time

how much time do we all got? can any of us determine that?

Don’t most of waste our valuable time , trying to prove our beliefs to people who have made up thier minds ,no matter come what may, they are going to believe what they want to believe ? then who is at lost? actually both parties , because time is limited on earth and both knowing they are going to stick to thier opinions weather it is religious , being, agnostic or atheistic,,, all three can be described as another’s belief,,,

unless you are aware that the person is sincere to know the facts and willing to understand that everyone is entitled to thier belief & is willing to be tolerant, eve if it does not agree with his beliefs & understands the need to respect your views, then it is worth the time..

I use to be a person very sensitive and would go on and on making myself miserable trying to prove am right ,I would be deeply wounded when am misunderstood by people especially whom I have considered friends & family and would torture myself when they do not accept my sincerity and when some would be nasty and slander & scheme to harm or hurt me, not until recently I realised what a waste of time and stupidity to let evil people into my mind to destroy your peace and my happiness , this is something I learnt through my years of reading Buddhism ,, take control of myself, yes i just do not care it can be my own family or friends I need not prove anything to them, if they are truly my family and friends, they would accept me for whom I am and respect my goodsides , my values and forgive my shortcomings, and my name would be safe in the mouths , but I learned the hard way it is not always possible, like The Noble Buddha said the good also is blamed & the bad is also blamed, so why do I have to waste my limited time on earth which is so precious trying to prove my worthiness & the worthiness of my religion my Prophet ,my holy scripture to a people who have made up thier minds to think otherwise?

It is also very pathetic with my own community I wont deny , they argue over trivial matters, and are most of the time quick to judge ,too quick to believe any rumour, if each community instead of harping how wrong is thee other religion and work towards the betterment and upliftment of thier communities what a wonderful world this would be to live,,,

so please dear brothers & sisters in Islam do not go to the trouble to reck your brains to explain the quran to those who is sick at heart , for that matter any religious texts , you will only be burning & wasting your energy & precious time, so say what you have to say & if people do not accept it ,leave it out , do not go out of the way to explain , you should know today a little bit of googling can give a person filled with venom ,prejudiced to the core & sick at heart the exact context he or she requires to spit thier venom out , why should you and I go out of the way to write down the whole book which we believe as sacred and have understood it because we have read the entire book in detail ,not contexts to fulfil evil desires,, ad we understand what the context is relating to ,and where else the ones who are contextual , will not value your effort , because his or her sole intention is to find away to demonise Islam , so why should he bother to waste his time reading the entire book with an open mind and analys or even bother to accept your details of the context ,all your etymology detail will be regarded nothing more than a myth, for he or she has made up thier minds.

Where were the BBS when Weliweriya massacre was going on. Where were the cowards when LTTE bombing Colombo and when people were protesting on cost of living, Electricity hike, health care collapse etc, etc.

Who need a Nelum Pokuna(Lotus)350 meters tall towers…..to see what….. We have enough towers to see Colombo suburbs and to relay transmissions. Is this another Govt.ploy to monopolise TV,Radio and media and to make more commissions. Who want an artificiall built holiday Islands in Hambanthota when Sri Lanka itself is an Island. There are enough important issues in the country when people are looking for answers.

BBS is a fake Desha Premi Buddhist Sinhala Racist card player with a hidden agenda. The hidden agenda will be brought to public soon.

All issues relating to religions are very sensitive and should be discussed and clarified Personally only with among those Religious leaders andf not in the public. Not to arouse peoples agigations and protest like Monkeys will backfire on them..

BBS destroyed the respect of the Buddhist monks in sri Lanka and now fallen to the status of Racist Religious Fanatical Terrorists.

Only way out for BBS is to do the duty that Lord Buddha taught them to do and nothing else.

We already have a Parliament, a constitution, supreme court and the Police force to take care of Peoples and minority religious and communal issues. ……….

BBS Mind your own Business.Don’t put your finger on other’s arses.

Dilanthe Withanage will do himself, the fanatical BBS and the country a favour if he writes his usual bull in Snhala and get some competent
Sinhala-English translator to do a neat draft before he sends this to the media. After all, the CT is also read by many in India and in many other countries. It is time those readers are made aware there are many who can read and write English well in the country still. Withanage’s Singlish – that he probably learnt in a night school – is making many readers blush with embarrassment.

Besides a load of bull here, he also wants to give the impression before he came along nobody did much for Buddhism and Buddhists in the country. In the interest of his credibility, where many will argue he has none, he must name the “one” Sinhala extremist Group and “one” Muslim Extremist Group he refers to in his Statement full of falsehood and nonsense. By this Statement he, the BBS and the Rajapakses are in retreat once again against growing local and internatinal condemnation
and the government’s glaring inaction here on the shameful attack on
a Muslim place of worship. The BBC and other major networks including
this news item in their Agenda presently is bad for the regime in the forthcoming visits of the UNHR and CHOGM must be clear even for the idiots and rabble rousers in the BBS.

The latest attack on The Grandpass mosque is something to be considered with great concern & Muslims must not go into lullaby, now the situation is so bad they do not even want a mosques beside their Temple ,, in Salve Island , all the faiths ,Mosques,Catholic Church ,The protestant ,The Hindu Kovil is a joining a Mosque & the Buddhist Temple are all in the same hub ,never did they have any issues.
Please do not get carried away with the thinking or believing all is well. ,I too have thanked the President & the Defence Secretary, but this is not to be considered as a special favour upon the Muslim community,it is our fundamental right as equal citizens of this country , we have never sported any separatism, muslims may have few black sheeps while the majority is sure to have a very large lot taking into consideration of the percentage of its population , and we have always stood for a unitary state.

I very much doubt a peaceful future for the Muslims in Sri Lanka.

There is now a real need to reach out for an international guarantee for our safety, what else to be done? if you do not feel safe in your own house and cant trust your own family what will you do? either move out or seek the law right?

Every Time we have been attacked the Police watched on ,just like the 83 riots, people who were present that time would remember, even the Army openly supported the goons and some were led by the clergy itself in Colombo 10..

So do not take it for granted.until you see a new constitution that guarantees the rights of minorities & a government who will shoot at sight the attackers of the helpless minorities and not shoot the people who protests for the basic right of clean drinking water, what a joke? is not this country a country full of comedy of errors?

One group of citizen protest to display their genuine grievance for clean water & they are shot at , some injured and some killed on the spot, while another peaceful group with legal possession were conducting thier prayers are attacked by goons headed by the clergies ,with all sort of weapons (some were told they even had sophisticated weapons -but need to be clarified by the area residents-until then I would like to leave it as doubtful)& the worst part was the Police were standing by watching ,in real fact they were not watching, they were providing security to the Mob..

What a shameful country , how many times the same thing on one Minority or another been targeted, even after a 30 years of a bloody war, they have neither learnt a lesson nor become civilised , while they point fingers at others ,in reality it is they who have become complete barbarians.

In my opinion I have not even an iota of confidence that this country will ever be peaceful and the new trend of attacks on Muslims will definitely intensify after the elections are won and the CHOGM summit is done with & when the chairmanship is bestowed on Sri Lanka.

It was very obvious as they were told not to open the Mosque until The CHOGM was over , what does that mean? ask yourself the question,,

Remember this has nothing to do with outside conspiracy ,not even Israel,,, the main aim is to destroy muslims economy , drag them down, and they know muslims are far more disciplined with thier daily prayers, which is a disadvantage to put them down , they are aiming attacks only on the practicing muslims mostly,
(I admit even among the practicing Muslims there are black sheeps ,but still there is hope for them to reform).

We need a new Muslim leadership, one who is honest, upright & have no craving of the world, another Omar,,or Salahudeen..

Stay awake Ya Ummat Al sayyidina Muhammad (SWS)

    @ Jihad,,

There is no need for war ,,, this is the whole issue, why islam is easily read in context by the racists, Jihad has become a house old name to mock Islam, always remember that The Prophet never ever touched a sword until when first his family ,friends ,his new followers were persecuted to an unbearable extend , they were cruelly persecuted ,tortured ,mercilessly killed & attempts were made to murder the prophet too, then he and his followers fled to Medina and some to Abyssinia the land of the most righteous (Christian) King who protected them and gave them refuge , even after the Prophet fled mecca to avoid persecution the Quraish (None Muslims) did not stop, they pursued him to medina and by then with The will of God a wealthy but self destructing community had accepted the prophet as their arbitrator & they too accepted Islam willingly & it is when they (The enemies) pursued the Muslims to medina to eliminate them that the revelation was sent ,, to fight those who have persecuted you,and driven you out of your homes and it is not as interpreted in context by bigots to go on a rampage and kill all none muslims , but to only fight those who are bloodthirsty to kill you, for obvious reasons, if they did not they would have been the victims , it is like the war with The LTTE, Buddha’s way is none violence it is always trumpeted , what will be the case if they have just sat and meditated ? it is the same case here the first peace treaty in the world was signed by The Prophet of Islam – but the enemies betrayed the treaty and attacked the unsuspecting Muslims while they were asleep, it would be a complete insanity to not defend . but today the situation we live in is different, there are many ways of defending ourselves , we need not rush to war, there is absolutely
no need for that especially where Sri Lanka is concerned , even when Islam started you must understand why the none believers rejected it not all but the elites ,, why? simple to protect the unjust, selfish system they had set up to generate wealth & circulate it among themselves , the city of mecca was then a commercial hub of people travelling from various places , most of the people then were uneducated and living a nomadic life & the power was abused to the maximum , the poor were eternally subjected to suffering , and many other injustice and the elites controlled the city ,when Islam came and offered equality and a way of life that will take away the power of the cruel elites they became rebellious , so it is the same situation now too,if you look, if look at the present situation the whole idea is to break the community’s economy and they know the important role Islam plays as away of life to discipline the community ,which helps most of them to be successful in business & helps them to provide a comfortable livelihood to the family, so they are aware of the prospects and guidance the quran provides muslims with, & they know the religion and quran sometimes better than most Muslims as unfortunately most muslims have not read the translation , so they want to first destroy the confidence which muslims achieve piety & sobriety from thier daily contact with God through their daily prayers , this is the reason why the Mosques are targeted & to create either one ,fear psychosis or arouse the emotion to take advantage to inflict harm on the whole community- there are times when we need to follow the teaching of prophet Jesus , in a time when we are week it is no shame or cowardly to agree to walk two miles when your enemy demands you to walk one mile & even sometime offer the left cheek when you are slapped on the right cheek,, what is needed now is unity , there is nothing stronger than unity as mention by God in the quran, not to be divided, so no betraying ,backbiting ,slandering ,scheming ,spying on each other all must stop, instead you needed to support each other, and there are many ways to defeat the enemy today ,by hikma(Wisdom) rather than through violence..
May God give us the patience & strength to endure the suffering we are all facing right now, remember muslims are a whole body, no matter which part is harmed the whole body feels the pain ..
Think it over , we together can make the change ..(Inshala)

The Sikh religious figure Bhindiranwale was believed to be a political creature of Indira Gandhi to serve her own interests. But like Buddharakhita Thero here (1958) he turned against her. That was to be followed by her own assassination in the hands of her Sikh bodyguard. BBS and their side-kicks may satisfy the immediate needs of the regime or high sources within it. In due time they may develop ambitions of their own and will want more. They may be a useful tool to their masters so long as they can be kept under leash. But if it comes to their being outside the control of their handlers?

It is threats and sinister action like what Jihad states here that will bring further trouble to Muslims. What can cowards like you do to a people who have woken up what your Madrassas and other mischief can do to this country. You think the Saudis or other Arabs will come to your aid. There is no way they are going to fall for your lies and deceipt that you are of Arab or Moor origin and that you came here over a thousand years ago. There have been an Arab or two ship-wrecked who stayed and even settle here. But that does not make a People. Most of you low-caste Tamil converts came here from the Coromondel Coast 200-300 years ago. And in your true nature denies this. That is because you want land here. We will allow you to stay here – provided you behave well and live peacefully but you will not get even an inch of land for the Muslim Council you have been secretly preparing for over 20 years. I have been to the Maldives and to some countries in the Gulf and know how they treat those of other religions. Please don’t think because we accept the Tamils were here for over 2,000 years in fairly well defined territory we will give you the same concession on the false history you have prepared. Even to the Tamils we will not permit exclusive areas in the country. If you are of Saudi origin why don’t you go there where there is much land and jobs available to you. You are not going because the Saudis have very little regard to you. Remember the message they gave you in the Razeena Nafeek case.

How can we have good feelings to you when some of your people write here “Sri Lanka will never be peaceful” and curse us to go down.

Hogwash is what you have written. Idle threats wont work. Sri Lanka Muslims learned the a fundamental truth this time.

Muslims learned that when you stand up for your rights as a community, people take notice, cowards slip away and true heroes emerge.

The Muslims stood up to thuggery, as the peeved police force looked on in dismay, and the politicians finally realized a people pushed to the wall can react indeed

      So stop idle talk

To Benjamin, Qassim and other Muslim fanatics I have a question which may have crossed the minds of many readers. Why is that in a world
dominated by Christianity/Catholicism, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism only
Islam is under attacked and condemned all over the world today? It is boring in these pages to see this Qassim bin Qassim (what a further attempt to fool yourself you have an Arabic connection where the simple old Cassim would do) and his fellow paid commentators boring all of us with long harangues from the Qaran and Islam? As another reader said you don’t have to keep praising your religion, its wonderful followers and its many features it is up to others to do this. Obviously, you suffer that complex the world has something against you. Please remember of the many mistakes made by Muslims in recent times the costliest is the attack on 9/11. The world is not going to allow you to do that again as you see the main contributors are already becoming history – Gaddaffi, OBL, Saddam are gone. Others will follow. If you insist you must destroy all other religions to prevail as the only religion in the world, your challenge will be accepted. This deception you are peaceful, compassionate, tolerant etc
is rejected. You are understood what you are – intolerant, revengeful,
full of hatred towards other religions, blood thirsty, the only religion that honours cursing, killing by stoning among a long list of shortcomings.

@backlash – first & foremost if you are trying state here you are Sinhalese and assuming that you grew like grass on this soil ,you are sadly mistaken ,your ancestors were exiles & they were a bunch of hooligans, and one who of them was exiled by the own father a king , can you imagine what a terrible son he must have been to be exiled from the country by the own father?, after which they invaded the Vedas land & there is a great possibility although may not be probable, they could have murdered most of them raped thier women and destroyed their culture ,taken away thier religion, which the very tiny population that is slowly vanishing still practices ,which is the worship of thier ancestors , & then comes the story of The King Asoka another criminal, who massacred his own people ruthlessly, until late another great possibility ,if not a probability , may be his people could not bear his cruelty any longer again another possibility they may have revolted against him & again a greater possibility why he may have opted to convert from Hinduism to buddhism , so he could use Buddhism as a cloak to cover his bloody crimes , anything is possible? fortunately for your ancestors,
he sent his envoy and converted your ancestors & of course the inter marriages with Tamil Hindus would have help to refine too most of your ancestors , but like in every community there are blacksheeps as it seems a minority among your people never really changed ,(you are a fine example yourself – full of venom and prejudice)

BTW do not generalize the Arabs ,you are not the only one who has worked overseas ,I wonder if you were even in born when I travelled overseas & worked & ever seen the number of countries I been to,
Just because japan , Korea Thailand,Singapore , for that matter even china ,being majority buddhist countries you think they consider you with high esteem and thier kin or next to Kin?

in fact many consider your colour as dirt.. are you are of it?

In my life time in Middle east I have met , worked with and for the most educated and refined arabs & some are till today are my friends who are very hospitable & yes most of them call us akwan & remember every community has bigots (Black sheeps) like you .

besides one more thing, insults thrown at our Prophet ,religion or community from low calibre narrow minded nincompoop like you does not carry even an atom of weight, comparing to the many great men who have praised The Prophet,, when you are blinded by sickness of the heart of bitter & prejudice ,your mind manifest to make you believe even white is black.

Remember people always forget when they point a finger, there are three point back at them..

Dear Moderator CT/ readers, please permit me to present the testimony from many a great men & women of high repute ,of a humble man of God, who is not present here today to defend himself from the lies given out by men who has a sickness in thier hearts , that every time they want to say something about the Prophet of Islam either verbally or in writing they just can not hold back the venom that they harbour deep down thier sick hearts ,the venom is such it would even out do the most venomous of serpents on earth.

It is only natural when a people or a person who holds in honour & respect, even venerate someone they consider their hero, master ,teacher Guru it is not something extraordinary of a testimony.
—————————————Meanwhile it is not something to be upset or to become emotional , to hear the ignorant, arrogantly possessed with madness of hate simply because such are people who have no mind of their own to think, analyze ,conceive the truth & make a fair judgement on others ,it is definitely pathetic, more than anger ,I have sympathy to such men & women who are so week ,so naive ,who can easily be manipulated, by men & women who are evilly intelligent with the art of deceiving, what can we do with such who are willing to become sheeps that the wolves may eat them ????????????
    —————————————–
Then there are men & women of great repute in this world who are to date held in reverence, when such men & women go out of the way ,to honour a man & his teaching ,his leadership & his achievements- daring to even go to the extend of even angering thier own communities ,,
    ==============================
Is such a testimony indeed deserve the acceptance by all men & women of sanity , intellectuality & a mind of sound judgement?????????

I quote below of men & women I have mentioned in my third para,,,,,,,
and I leave it to Men& Women I have referred in my fourth para to decide & definitely it is not meant for the category of people mentioned in my para two ,it is beyond their tiny minds to conceive , to sweet for thier bitter hearts to bear,,

I will be much obliged and thankful to CT, if this lengthy comment of value is kindly considered to be accommodated..
    Thank you

    Encyclopedia Britannica, as it confirms:
    ========================================
(Regarding Muhammad) “… a mass of detail in the early sources shows that he was an honest and upright man who had gained the respect and loyalty of others who were likewise honest and upright men.” [Vol. 12]

    ========================================

Michael H. Hart, “The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History.” He states that the most influential person in all history was Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, with Jesus second. Examine his actual words:

“My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular level.”
[Michael H. Hart, THE 100: A RANKING OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONS IN HISTORY, New York: Hart Publishing Company, Inc., 1978, page. 33.]

Reverend R. Bosworth-Smith wrote in “Mohammed & Mohammedanism” in 1946:

“Head of the state as well as the Church, he was Caesar and Pope in one; but, he was pope without the pope’s claims, and Caesar without the legions of Caesar, without a standing army, without a bodyguard, without a palace, without a fixed revenue. If ever any man had the right to say that he ruled by a Right Divine, it was Mohammad, for he had all the power without instruments and without its support. He cared not for dressing of power. The simplicity of his private life was in keeping with his public life.”

“Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images; the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire, that is Muhammad. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?”
[Lamartine, HISTOIRE DE LA TURQUIE, Paris, 1854, Vol. II, pp. 276-277.]

George Bernard Shaw, a famous writer and non-Muslim says:

“He must be called the Savior of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it much needed peace and happiness.”
[The Genuine Islam, Singapore, Vol. 1, No. 8, 1936]

famous poetess of India, Sarojini Naidu says:

“It was the first religion that preached and practiced democracy; for, in the mosque, when the call for prayer is sounded and worshippers are gathered together, the democracy of Islam is embodied five times a day when the peasant and king kneel side by side and proclaim: ‘God Alone is Great’… I have been struck over and over again by this indivisible unity of Islam that makes man instinctively a brother.”
[S. Naidu, Ideals of Islam, vide Speeches & Writings, Madras, 1918, p. 169]

In the words of Professor Hurgronje:

“The league of nations founded by the prophet of Islam put the principle of international unity and human brotherhood on such universal foundations as to show candle to other nations.” He continues, “the fact is that no nation of the world can show a parallel to what Islam has done towards the realization of the idea of the League of Nations.”

Edward Gibbon and Simon Ockley, on the profession of ISLAM, writes in “History of the Saracen Empires”:

“I BELIEVE IN ONE GOD, AND MAHOMET, AN APOSTLE OF GOD’ is the simple and invariable profession of Islam. The intellectual image of the Deity has never been degraded by any visible idol; the honor of the Prophet have never transgressed the measure of human virtues; and his living precepts have restrained the gratitude of his disciples within the bounds of reason and religion.”
[History of the Saracen Empires, London, 1870, p. 54]

    K. S. Ramakrishna Rao, an Indian (Hindu) professor of Philosophy, in his booklet “Muhammad the Prophet of Islam” calls him the “perfect model for human life.” Professor Ramakrishna Rao explains his point by saying:

“The personality of Muhammad, it is most difficult to get into the whole truth of it. Only a glimpse of it I can catch. What a dramatic succession of picturesque scenes. There is Muhammad the Prophet. There is Muhammad the Warrior; Muhammad the Businessman; Muhammad the Statesman; Muhammad the Orator; Muhammad the Reformer; Muhammad the Refuge of Orphans; Muhammad the Protector of Slaves; Muhammad the Emancipator of Women; Muhammad the Judge; Muhammad the Saint. All in all these magnificent roles, in all these departments of human activities, he is alike a hero.”

    ‘Young India’:

“I wanted to know the best of one who holds today undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind… I became more than convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet, the scrupulous regard for his pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the 2nd volume (of the Prophet’s biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of the great life.”

Thomas Carlyle in his ‘Heroes and Hero Worship’, was simply amazed:

“How one man single handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades.”
Diwan Chand Sharma wrote in “The Prophets of the East”:

“Muhammad was the soul of kindness, and his influence was felt and never forgotten by those around him”
[D.C. Sharma, The Prophets of the East, Calcutta, 1935, pp. 12]

Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was nothing more or less than a human being, but he was a man with a noble mission, which was to unite humanity on the worship of ONE and ONLY ONE GOD and to teach them the way to honest and upright living based on the commands of God. He always described himself as, ‘A Servant and Messenger of God’ and so indeed every action of his proclaimed to be.

    E Wolfgang Goethe,
perhaps the greatest European poet ever, wrote about Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. He said:

“He is a prophet and not a poet and therefore his Koran is to be seen as Divine Law and not as a book of a human being, made for education or entertainment.”
[Noten und Abhandlungen zum Weststlichen Dvan, WA I, 7, 32]

      Qassim,

For every non-Islamic leader you quote speaking in praise of Islam,
there can be dozens who hold an opposite view. Of course, if you ask any decent world leader or scholar to comment on Islam they are not going to speak of the many shortcomings of the religion, are they?
So please spare space, printing ink and the patience of readers in these blogs from your boring long lectures on the great virtues of Islam.
