A tense situation has arisen in and around Aluthgama after a private altercation between a Sinhalese and Muslim last evening.

Following the altercation, a rumour had been spread to the effect that the Sinhalese person was assaulted on his way back from the temple resulting in Sinhalese crowds gathering to the Aluthgama town.
The incident had allegedly taken place in Dharga town which was subject to racial violence in June this year.
There has been no reported violence yet, with Special Task Force troops deployed in and around the area.

Aluthgama according to a Muslim source is another incident where the army deserter who got in to robes in Patheyagoda is trying to provoke another riot. BBS is behind this again and They are hell bent on destroying the communal harmony that has been existed between the Muslims and the Sinhalese in Aluthgama and Beruwela. Imthiaz Bakeer Markar was elected mostly by Sinhala votes. So was his father. This is mainly because of politics that these tensions are renewed.
This particular incident started because the Muslims were celebrating the victory in a cricket match when some Buddhits started pelting stones at them. A women who was going on a motor bike with her son was injured and the Muslims had reacted. The police as usual came and arrested the victims of teh assault and remanded them. This is the bloody state of affairs in the country. Every aspect of our lives have been politicised. It is a time, we sinhalese stood up against this and create a country where the rule of law prevails. Everything else will fall in to place
