“All murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.” ~ Voltaire
Darius III was the last emperor of the Achaemenid dynasty, dethroned by Alexander the Great. With his fall, the Great Persian Empire—the heart of the Aryan world—ceased to be the dominant global power for centuries to come. Alexander the Great was no modern man; he was a titan of the ancient world, representing the very womb from which Western civilization eventually emerged. While Persia/Iran no longer seeks the role of a sole military conqueror, it maintains world-power recognition through its strategic control of energy routes, its advanced asymmetric weaponry, and its ability to influence the stability of the entire Middle East region.
On the other hand, the United States remains unparalleled on the global stage. Whether in terms of economic output, military capability, or technological innovation, it has maintained a leading role in global affairs since the mid-20th century. The constant feeding into the mainstream media and maintaining it with ruthless efficiency, America has come to world attention, and its current positioning as an unequal aggressor cannot be challenged in any world forum, be it the United Nations, NATO, or any other. Their entrepreneurial class, backed by massive capital and technical innovation, operates within exclusive networks to bolster America’s global dominance. This group not only secures immense financial rewards but has also become deeply embedded in the American psyche.
Notwithstanding its ostensible military and economic superiority, the United States has failed to achieve its strategic objectives in two major post-WWII conflicts: the Vietnam War and the war in Afghanistan. Her deliberate military involvement in the regime change in Iraq, and the cascading repercussions it entailed—namely, an utterly unstable political landscape in the Mideast region—are not very flattering global engagements.
Yet, the most humiliating episode in the chapter of American military dominance is its undignified exit from Vietnam. Vietnam, a nation-state, was not born yesterday. Its history runs through thousands of years. Her continuing unbroken story begins in 250 B C. Through her storied history, this culturally rich, agricultural heart of Southeast Asia defied the odds to maintain her independence, effectively defeating the mightiest power, America. Vietnam, a nation that has its roots deeply entrenched for thousands of years has schooled America in patriotic warfare. The Vietnam War remains a subject of intense debate among scholars, who struggle to fully understand its long-lasting, transformative impact on both American and Vietnamese society.
The twentieth century never paused its continuing sagas of war. Its incomprehensible fixation on military conflict—and the resulting unquenched thirst for arms by manufacturers—claimed countless innocent lives as collateral damage. The drama shifted to the Middle East: the land of oil. Yet the players remained the same. America was awaiting an excuse of sorts to go to war; The 9/11 tragedy and a manufactured lie- weapons of mass destruction (WMD)- gave that ignominious excuse. Saddam Hussein in Iraq and Osama Bin Laden, originally from Saudi Arabia, a nomadic messiah of Muslim zealots, became most wanted men in the first quarter of the twenty first century. The true motivation behind the U.S. invasion of Iraq remains a subject of intense debate among historians and political analysts.
Iraq’s origins go back to the history of Mesopotamia. She is as old and equally significant as Persia; as a primary cradle of civilization, Iraq is among the few places on earth that an archaeologist or anthropologist would consider a mandatory pilgrimage; Euphrates and Tigris rivers are still carrying the waters of our ancestors whose idolatry to the land was as immense as a modern day devotee to his or her religion. In that land, Americans did not find WMDs; instead, they found stiff resistance and unshakable pride of an ancient people.
On both these fronts, America was engaged in warfare with two nations whose history was as old as that of man himself. One cannot underestimate man’s love and loyalty to the land that he calls motherland. Modern day states may have not measured it right; nor has that faith for one’s land of birth been weighted in the correct dimensions and with correct tools. But that age-old allegiance to the land of birth, more often than not, has overwhelmed the latest arms and armory that America and Europe have manufactured.
It was just announced over the local television, while I am writing this column, that the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Hosseini Khamenei was found amongst those who were killed in the first of these battles between America/Israel and Iran. This speaks volumes for the immeasurable value of Israeli intelligence services and the rapidity of action made available by the twenty first century warfare technology possessed by Israel and the USA.
Vietnam War was over in 1975. After 28 years, the Iraq-Afghan war was launched by the then US President George W Bush in 2003. In 2026, after another 23 years, America and Israel attacked Iran, another country which can boast about a proud civilization dating back to two thousand seven hundred years or more. The sustained Iranian Empire is understood to have begun with the rise of the Medes during the Iron Age, when Iran was unified as a nation under the Median Kingdom in the 7th century BC. By 550 BC, the Medes were sidelined by the conquests of Cyrus the Great, who brought the Persians to power with the establishment of the Achaemenid Empire. Cyrus’ ensuing campaigns enabled the Persian realm’s expansion across most of West Asia and much of Central Asia, and his successors would eventually conquer parts of Southeast Europe and North Africa to preside over the largest empire the world had yet seen.
In the early hours of February 28, 2026, American Pacific Time, the United States launched a massive military campaign against Iran- the cradle of one of humanity’s oldest civilizations. There is haunting irony in the way the world’s youngest superpower continues its volatile dance with the world’s most ancient cultures. Donald Trump, the leader of the United States of America, experiencing an unprecedented spiraling down of his approval rate at home may have been persuaded by his own injured pride to play his last ‘trump card’.
While at war, any party who is part of that war would use that war-scenario to bolster its own image and posture. If the leaders of any party to the war are found to be wanting in good image and begging to be recognized as winners at the local front, any conflict with an outside power always tends to unite, at least in the short run, the local population behind the political power behind the governing machinery. It has been found that on more than a few occasions, country’s have ventured into conflicts with their neighbors in order to win the hearts and minds of a gullible electorate.
On the evening of April 7, 1775, when Samuel Johnson, the18th century English writer, made his famous pronouncement “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel,” he was not saying, I think, that it was wrong to love your country. Nick Duffell, in reviewing Johnson’s famous pronouncement, says thus: ‘The retreat to nationalism is often a flight movement born out of the mobilization of the Sympathetic branch of our Autonomic Nervous System, our inner instinctual safety mechanism’. One cannot wholly blame Donald Trump for taking a most dubious path to reorient himself and regroup his fellow travelers; but committing one’s country, her men and women in boots and the non-combatant consumer public to the vagaries of unpredictable military conflict could be not only dangerous, it could be utterly injurious to the collective psyche of the country.
The war is yet to complete twenty four hours; its trajectory, though seemingly bending towards the Israel/US forces, the long term repercussions and unintended harm brought unto innocent Iranians cannot be foreclosed.
Leonard Woolf began his famous book The Village in the Jungle, with the line: “All jungles are evil, but no jungle is more evil than that which lay about the village of Baddegama”. To paraphrase him ‘all wars are evil, but there is no war more evil than one that is being fought between two civilizations’. One would not know where this would end. Most of the recent global conflicts, including the Vietnam War and the Iraq/Afghan conflict never were predicted to last more than a ‘short’ time. But that short time was ultimately measured in decades.
What would Russia and China do? Would they come to Iran’s ‘rescue’ or would they stay aside? What would be the effects of war on oil prices. How would a country like Sri Lanka handle another fuel crisis? It is time for rhetoric to take a rest, and for hard facts and wisdom to prevail. But as history has told us, wisdom is the most precious but least present commodity at times of war.
Donald Trump may have his own understanding or misunderstanding of the current global situation; we are not privy to the information and data he, as the US president, is and it is utterly meaningless to argue for or against whatever the reasoning he may offer for the choice he made. But defiance of diplomacy is no argument for firm commitment to peace. Generations await our steady journey forward; if in that time we heed a single penny’s worth of advice, it is more valuable than all the hardware and human lives offered to the altar of war.

The weapons and intelligence gathering are getting better now. That’s why Trump is so confident. They would have done dry runs in Ukraine and Syria. A few weeks ago, Lindsey Graham, while visiting, Israel said that the ‘”wars of the future are being planned here (in Israel).” An existential question for Israel.

A friend of mine made a suggestion yesterday. It appears that some parts of the island are experiencing a shortage of petrol. This is reportedly due to greedy suppliers hoarding stock.
He suggested that, if the state were clever, it would build a bridge between Rameshwaram and Mannar. If and when there is a shortage of goods and services, he could travel to Rameshwaram, purchase what he needs — including petrol — buy a few food parcels, and return to work before 9 a.m.

Your friend is thinking short term. If Iran has a pro-US government, then sanctions get removed. More Iranian oil on the market will result in a lower oil price. Unlike Venezuela, the refineries are in good condition. This is likely Trump’s thinking. Trump may succeed here, since Iranians are more aligned with the West than their Arab neighbors aka Head Chopper MBS who committed genocide in Yemen.

This is what the Philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer said:
” Man is the only animal which causes pain to others with no other object than causing pain …. No animal ever torments another for the sake of tormenting: but man does so, and it is this which constitutes the diabolical nature is far worse than merely bestial.”
The above is the ‘CONFLICT’ (confronting the human race) that has to be addressed. “This ‘Conflict’ between individuals, races, cultures, and religions has led to genocide, terrorism, mass displacement of people, starvation, runaway diseases, environmental devastation, gross inequality, racial and gender oppsession, poloarized politics, rampant corruption and other crimes, drug abuse, family breakdowns, and epidemic levels of obesity, chronic anxiety, depression, unhappiness and loneliness – all of which are being rapidly exacerbated by the exploding world population and exponential rise everywhere in anger, egocentricity and alienation” (from the book FREEDOM by Jeremy Griffith)
We have used many tools ( ‘Self Management’, new ways of disciplining, organizing, motivation, new laws, better politics, better economics, etc.) to address the above issues, but have all failed to bring the desired result to end the devastation and unhappiness.
Having ‘FAILED’, we have resorted to ‘WAR’ and the preparation of more ‘WARS’.

Hello Nathan,
Schopenhauer (or anyone else) didn’t have the slightest idea what goes on in the Minds of other Animals, so what he said is nonsense.
I read Nagel’s book “What Is It Like to Be a Bat?” way back in 1974/5 not long after it came out. It addresses the question of how Physical Brains can produce Subjective thoughts. We are a lot closer to understanding the processes that result in Subjective Experience, but we still don’t know (or can experience) what it’s like to be a Bat (or any other Animal).
Best regards

Thank you, LankaScot. I learned!

LS: Thanks for your input. Is it correct to condemn that opinion of Arthur Schopenhauer as sheer “Nonsense”? It may be that you came to pass that ‘Judgement’, because I didn’t state the background or the environment in which he said it. He said:
” Despite our species’ magnificent mental capabilities and undeniable capacity for immense sensitivity and love, behind every wondrous scientific achievement, sensitive artistic expression and compassionate act lies the shadow of humanity’s dark side – an unspeakable history of greed, hatred, rape, torture, murder and war; a propensity for deeds of shocking violence, depravity, indifference and cruelty….”
Nathan: Please make a note of the above.
Cheers! Have a Nice Day!
/
LankaScot / March 4, 2026
Hello Douglas,
“behind every wondrous scientific achievement, sensitive artistic expression and compassionate act lies the shadow of humanity’s dark side”. Schopenhauer wrote this in 1851. What sort of analysis points a “sensitive artistic expression” or “wondrous scientific achievement” to Humanity’s Dark Side. We have come a long way since then in understanding Human Psychology and certainly don’t give much weight to this – “Schopenhauer calls the Platonic Ideas the
adequate objectification of the will”
Are you offended when I critique Schopenhauer’s integration of Upanishadic Vedanta and Buddhism into his Philosophy?
They both support Schopenhauer’s view that the Material world is an illusion and that “suffering” is the condition of humankind.
There is only one Universe and we live in it.
Try reading David Hume”An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding” or Camus’ “The Myth of Sisphyus”

Over the years, I’ve discussed with colleagues in Boston and Europe the cognitive intelligence of humans, with the exception of the stupdiest characters like Deepthi/Lester/The Truth. While we assume that humans are intelligent based on our limited knowledge, there has been little research into the hidden intelligence of other beings.
/
Nathan / March 6, 2026
leelagemalli,
We are going into new -unknown- territories.
Yes, the other living things have inferential reaction. However, to call it intelligence is stretching it too much.
(I am not well read as you, LankaScot, or others, admittedly. I use my intelligence to decipher what others think.)
/
leelagemalli / March 6, 2026
Mr Nathan, thank you.
Human beings often believe we are the most intelligent species on Earth;but that belief is largely our own assumption. Nature gives us many reasons to question it.
*
When the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami struck Sri Lanka and other countries, thousands of innocent coastal people lost their lives, yet there were reports of animals moving away from the shore before the disaster. Their instincts sensed danger that human prediction systems did not fully detect in time.
*
Even in our daily lives, domestic animals like dogs and cats often show loyalty, awareness, and cooperation that sometimes seem wiser than human behavior.
/
leelagemalli / March 6, 2026
cont.
In the wild, many animals share space and resources peacefully, sometimes with a level of balance that humans still struggle to achieve.
*
Intelligence is not only about technology, language, or scientific achievements. It is also about learning, adapting, sensing the environment, and living responsibly within it. Human science has made great progress in medicine, chemistry, physics, and many other fields, but what we know is still only a small part of a much larger reality.
*
Our knowledge may be just the tip of the iceberg. Instead of assuming we are the most intelligent, perhaps we should remain humble and open-minded, recognizing that the world still holds far more wisdom than we have yet discovered.

I have never seen a Rastafarian Thai Blues Player before. One of my Uncles sang in an Aberdeen Nightclub in the late 50s and early 60s and met an American Guitarist Leroy James Sentif. He stayed a couple of nights at my Grandmother’s House and cooked Chile con carne with Rice for us Children. Back then in Aberdeen there was an American Food Store where he bought most of the Ingredients. He and my Uncle entertained us with some Country & Western, Elvis and a couple of Blues songs. I probably misremember but “Hoochie Coochie Man” sticks in my head. My first Album Purchase (1969) “Nice enough to Eat” renewed my interest in the Blues via Chickenshack.

Trump and BB are manufacturing a crisis to start bombing, toppling, and killing those that THEY don’t like, or those that do not capitulate to them. This is an unprovoked war started during peace negotiations. No country should trust the US as this is the second time they have reneged on these peace talks to bomb that country.
BB is a wanted war criminal, who has openly threatened, lied, and has been responsible for killing thousands and thousands of civilians, mostly women and children.
Polls show his people support the violence against its neighbors, and want to annex lands. Yes, he should be kicked out of office, and so should the man supplying him with weapons, support, and protection from the White House.

What did the US achieve from the attacks in Iran? Nothing! Absolutely nothing.!
If the assassinations in Iran with the help of Israel were an achievement, Biden did the same with the help of Israel without any military expenditure on his part.
At the time of the assassination, Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Minister of Defence, the Military Commander and others were not hiding in underground bunkers. They were all working in their offices by the time the US and Israel attacked the building complex with 30 bombs.
Iran’s President escaped death which means that there won’t be an election. Even if there is, the presidential candidates have to receive the approval from the highest religious council to be qualified to contest. The government of Iran is intact. It wasn’t toppled. A successor to the assassinated Supreme Leader was chosen and will be announced soon.
If the Iranian diaspora’s chosen President visits Iran, he will be arrested for treason and aiding and abetting the US-Israel strikes.
Iran announced the death of their Supreme Leader pretty fast which is a sign that the situation in Iran is stable and under control.

The US naval armada deployed for a “regime change in Iran” was said to have included two legendary aircraft carriers, 150 aircraft, 16 surface warships, 150–250 Tomahawk missiles, long range missiles, 40,000 troops and more, and achieved nothing.
In the meantime, Netanyahu ended up victorious by killing over 200 school children which is his genocide signature, hundreds of civilians, Iran’s Supreme Leader and higher officials, and delaying Gaza withdrawal, re-closing Rafah boder crossing and above all, deviating the Chairman of the “Board of Peace” from “peace” and “no wars pledge” making the latter as impulsive, unstable and untrustworthy leader. I think I mentioned this before. Israel, which manipulates, blackmails and dictates terms to the Trump administration, is more aligned with Democrats than Republicans.
Israel has made sure Democrats have all the cards while Republicans head for mid-term elections with an incompetent Cabinet obviously chosen by Israeli advisers and no card in hand.
It may be funny, but some Americans think President Donald Trump actually likes California Governor Gavin Newsom and wants him to be the next President!!!! If it is the case, Newsom may not need Israeli support to win the election.

Israel looks to be winning, from the vantage point of long term stability. Assad (exiled in Russia), Nasrallah, Sinwar, and now the Iranian Ayatollah. Hamas and Hezbollah are decapitated. Syria is run by the ISIS, but they may contain their terrorism domestically, as they don’t want to risk US sanctions.
The Iranian proxy game that posed a serious threat to Israeli security has finally run its course.
Young Iranians have been influenced by social media more so than mullahs, there is real potential for a “democracy” here.

We all know the cost of war and attempt to resolve disputes through peaceful means. The immediate effect in Sri Lanka is the build-up of queues in petrol stations, one may say it is panic buying. It may be accentuated by shortages in cooking gas and a rumored power cuts after the O-Levels. One may imagine all this as the ominous signs of another costly “Aragalaya” and a regime change. As to whether USA is in responsible hands, it is up to the people in US to decide. To others it may look as if a container full of goods being driven recklessly and the world has to just look on until the driver gets some senses.
Sri Lanka must be robust enough to meet the challenges of all sorts in the world. The Covid pandemic hit us badly. But a few countries were prepared for disasters of all sorts and for instance Singapore took that beating very well. We have a reputation of believing in Management by crisis and never forward thinkers. So, lets face the music.

Did the US-Israel strikes on Iran backfire and escalate beyond expectations? Yes. In many ways.
1. First, contrary to the initial expectations of the US and Israel, the Iranian government didn’t collapse following the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
2. Iranians didn’t celebrate their leader’s death, either. Instead, they demanded revenge.
3.. Even after the death of its Commander, the IRGC wasn’t handicapped either. Instead, they attacked 27 US military bases and 1 UK base in neighbouring countries, presumably killing 560 soldiers.
4. The IRGC has fired 4 ballistic missiles at the US’s 13 billion Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier causing a fire.
5. In addition to the “Skylight” oil tanker which tried to enter the Strait of Hormuz illegally, three other US and UK oil tankers were hit by Iran missiles and engulfed in fire.
6. The US sank 9 Iranian warships.
1/2
/
CChampa / March 2, 2026
Continued…..
7. Iran targeted US navy vessels in Bahrain port causing a huge fire.
8. In the meantime, Netanyahu is said to be taking temporary refuge in Germany after being refused by other countries.
9.. The German Chancellor’s calling for the immediate halt of Iran’s retaliation is the joke of the day. If Israel is so feared of retaliation, they shouldn’t have attacked Iran in the first place.
10. The US and Israel decided to attack Iran while the latter was at the negotiating table. It is the same thing that happened last June. At the time, the US said Iran was just two weeks’ away from producing a nuclear weapon. They repeat the same story this time, too.
11. The shocking escalation between the US/Israel and Iran shows that Iran’s “revenge” is greater and severe than the US “fury”.
12. The US and Israel’s Syria version didn’t work in Iran and now the US is signalling a ceasefire.
13. The first war started by the Chairman of the “Board of Peace” proved that he should stick to “peace” and not initiate “miscalculated wars”.

Iran as ruled by the wicked primitive Ayotallahs is one of the the worst global evils since the Nazi regime. Its tentacles stretch into Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq, and into the campuses, mosques and protest movements in other countries.
The regime has evidently murdered more than 40,000 citizens for the crime of calling for freedom. It has reportadly removed the uteruses of female protesters, injected prisoners with toxic substances, executed wounded activists in their hospital beds and demanded huge sums to return corpses of loved ones. The scenes of mothers weeping over the bodies of their children, or dancing in defiance at their funerals, have been intolerable
Abroad, the fanatical theocratic regime is the foremost sponsor of terror, giving birth to Hezbollah, sponsoring Hamas and mounting scores of assassination and kidnap plots , It apparantly runs a narcotics network stretching from Latin America to the Middle East, fostering widespread addiction, violence and criminality. We must grateful to President Trump for waging war against this cruel and tyrannical regime. He must settle for nothing less than complete surrender of the enemy and a change of regime.

Iran was ruled by the kind and benevolent Shah whose father wore a crown dripping of the blood of an elected prime minister.
Iran was robbed of the Shah whose secret police the Savak protected the country from forces of evil opposed to the benevolent Shah who of course indulged in some arrests that others may call arbitrary and some fun which others may call torture.
So the wicked regime of the Mullahs had to be punished and the US was given a bloody nose by those wicked people. It has been waging war on Iran in one way or another for nearly half a century to protect the US. That included persuading Saddam the kind ruler of Iraq to wage a decade long war o be humiliated by the mullahs.

Well said, Professor Ekanayake, one of the few people daring to state the truth about this nasty, murderous regime that, in the name of religion, oppresses its own people and murders them brutally, if they dare to come out and protest, and is the root cause of all that happened in Gaza, and Lebanon, giving an excuse and fodder for Zionists and Jewish extremists to commit genocide on the hapless Palestinians. This is the reason that even many Arab nations, other than predominantly Shia Iraq, supported the USA and Israel, infact Saudi Arabia canvassed to the USA to attack this rogue nation and its nasty leadership. Only stupid, largely uneducated, largely Shia Muslims are protesting in Lebanon, Iraq, Pakistan, India and elsewhere; other mainstream Sunni Muslims everywhere are keeping quiet.

As for these Sri Lankan Tamil Muslims or Moors, who have been brainwashed to think they are some sort of Arabs and protesting the less said the better, they think everything remotely connected with the religion Islam is connected to them and the Arabs, when it is not and generally the Iranians or Farsi hate and look down on the Arabs, even the Shia and use them as cannon fodder for their agenda, like in Gaza, Yemen and southern Lebanon and do not care what happens to them or their fate. These largely South Indian Tamil origin Sri Lankan Muslims joined with the Sinhalese to marginalise, discriminate and commit war crimes and structural genocide on their fellow non-Muslim Hindu and Christian Tamils in the name of Islam and a fake Arab origin, and now, like the rest of the hypocrites, without understanding anything, shedding tears about this evil regime. I can understand if they had cried about the Palestinian,s but definitely not the downfall of this evil. According to the Bible (Exodus) , the Christian God (who is of course different from the Muslim one) , ordered all Egyptian firstborn to be killed. Is that worse than what you say the mullahs did?

Trump accused Zelenskyy of starting WW3, but it seems it is he and his war criminal buddy, who lit the match in a fragile region, and set it on fire that is rapidly spreading beyond control.
Iran has never attacked its neighbor without provocation, never went inside the zionist nation to kill their scientists, general, and leaders. The zionist nation did.
Iran has been threatened on a daily basis, and the wanted war criminal leader has gone to the UN every year to hold up cartoon bombs and props to warn us that we were going to be nuked by Iran within days, for years now. The man who cried wolf.
Iran has the right to defend itself, and had warned that if attacked all US and Israel facilities would be targets of their retaliation. A warning that only two arrogant war mongers could ignore.
Iran is not bombing 4 of its neighbors, killing innocent civilians by the thousands, and annexing lands.
BB’s country is.
The two war mongering nations used Gaza to test their deadly weapons, and bomb nearly 70 percent of the city to rubble, killing over 70,000 people. These poor people were the lab rats to test and kill.

One cannot separate one criminal act of the Trump regime from another.
They are all intertwined

You state this, and a few others, and I also dare to state this truth, despite scorn derison and abuse being poured on us by these hypocrites, who even deny this happened or trivialise it. stating what discrimination? What Tamil homeland? What Tamil rights? Nothing happened, you are the cause of your own problem for daring to ask for your just rights in your own ancient homeland in a majoritarian Sinhalese Buddhist state, which was not due to their own efforts or creation, but because of the British in 1833, t who created this unitary state from the then seperate Sinhalese and Tamil homelands for their own benefit, hat they inherited this in 1948 and now claim it is their historical right as the majority to rule, discriminate us, kill us, ethnically cleanse and commit war crimes and structural genocide on us, as even the Mahavamsa fairy tale tells them to do so. Even justify these atrocities and denial of just Tamil rights in the name of Sinhalese Buddhist majoritarianism, like 80% do not want this, like some idiot here, who conveniently has run off to Canada and now suppots state sponsored Sinhalese racism on this basis and denies war crimes occurred in 2009 and quotes Lord Naseby.

However will cry and howl about the plight of the Palestinians now, nasty Iran as it is seen fashionable, does not affect them, others must fight for their homeland love it and they bravely applaud this but if Tamils fight or dare to ask for rights these fake pseudo Human rights Champions will brand you as a racist, trouble maker and join with each other and come here like a pack of hyennas to attack you, each person taking their turn to bark, yelp and nip at you.

The war against Iran is to keep the US dollar as the world currency as well as restricting the oil supplies to the competitors [China]
So was the rest of the wars against Libya and Iraq.

It is also the distract the American citizens from the very incriminating Epstein files, which according to some US congresspeople who have had access to it implicates the US president in a very disturbing way.
