No doubt that this man too died of injuries caused by blunt trauma,(like Nimalaruban earlier)known as ‘beating to death’.
Noone has yet been even interdicted, from duties, in the Vavuniya Prison.
Will his body be allowed to be buried according to the wishes of his family,or denied, like before, on grounds of “national security”?
Will the President order an immediate inquiry by persons who know the law, and unconnected to police, prisons and the armed services.
In countries which really practice democracy, there are such independent groups of persons appointed by the state, to inquire into and report on torture, trauma and deaths allegedly caused by/during law-enforcement by state agencies.Even traffic injuries/fatalities involving vehicles of state agencies are probed and reported on.
Will there be at least a proper & public Judicial Inquiry,as required by law? Will the postmortem report be made public, like in the old days?

Another Tamil prisoner was beaten to death.

      Shocking !!

The postmortem report which will confirm this, is being kept a secret -as all postmortem reports on bodies of persons dying in Rajapaksa Government custody are, nowadays – by the perpetraters and the judiciary, which earlier ruled that his funeral is a matter of “national security” and not allowed to return to her family

Torture and deaths in custody, in sri lanka, were confirmed long ago by a UN Rapporteur.

I only hope those responsible will be brought to justice soon.

No one should have such a fate!

The Tiger prisoners started the riot by taking hostages. They, and they alone, bear moral responsibility for all deaths and injuries caused.

Are you really serious? A man in state captivity as a remand prisoner had died with multiple injuries leading to coma and you have the audacity to blame the fellow prisoners for hide death? Were you an eye witness to any hostage taking or are you a parrot repeating the government’s official version.
Judging by all the other events of murder and torture that had gone on in this Government’s watch those with an iota of intelligence will know what to believe.

      A L L, lol;

Like you , Sri Lanka’s secretary to the ministry of defense is also
      An AMERICAN LANKA LOVER.

THERE IS NOBODY IN SRI LANKA, A PATRIOT LIKE HIM.

that is why so many abductions shooting and killings are happening. FOR THE LOVE OF SRI LANKA.
Sri Lanka’s secreatary to the ministry of defense alone, does not bear moral responsibility for all deaths and injuries caused in side the prisons .
you know, they died of heart attacks.

any way How much they pay you to howl.

SEND THE SAFFRON CLAD THUGS TO BRING LAW AND ORDER IN THE PRISONS. INSTEAD OF BEATING THE PRISONERS TO DEATH THEY MIGHT TEACH THEM DHAMMA.
WHAT A JOKE THIS COUNTRY IS BECOMING TO THE WHOLE WORLD.

‘The prisoners are also human beings’. Inside or outside prisons, human beings can begin revolts when they are unjustly treated. But there are standard methods to control them. Killing is in no way an acceptable method. We remember the killing of a worker at Katunayaka, a fisherman at Chilaw, two at a JVP rally in down south and now the prisoners. Is killing a recommendation of the LLRC? Reconciliation will never happen if killings continue in this manner. We need now the citizens of our country to speak up. Enough is enough.

I think the Rajapaksa method is if you kill them then there’s no problem! So,you don’t need to go through formal procedures, the rule of law and the courts; They might be even dreaming if they could kill all the Tamils and get away with it that might put an end to the Tamil national question like the Nazis’ final solution to annihilate Jews! When you put a former soldier who has been trained to follow orders and kill his enemy in the civilian position of Defence Secretary, he doesn’t care about procedures and the due process of the law, the only way he would deal with problems is to give the order to kill those who create problems, especially if they are perceived as problems for the smooth running of their family business!

    ALLover,
before you comment you may want to have a read of our constitution (articles 10-14)and how the state is oblidged to guanrantee a life free from torture for her citizens.
Lanka is a signatory to Convention against Torture (CAT)

Yes Sri Lanka is a signatory to all the conventions in this world, but when the law of the jungle previals with mafia goons in control only the Gods above can bring retribution which is slow but sure and we see this happening in front of our very eyes, look at the disasters, acidents the mafia rulers and all their immediate families and hennchmen are brining upon to its citizens, it is nothing but cancers with pain and destruction to all such partakers who are ruining this country, very soon we will witness such plagues happening to these scum of this earth.

The words on the lips of every Tamil in the country and elsewhere is
“Is there even a semblance of sanctity as far as the life and limbs of Tamil prisoners are concerned?” High-profile political prisoners at Welikade were savaged – not once but twice – by manimals also brought from outside in the maximum-security prison at Welikade in 7/83. Looks like the racial hatred has in no way diminished in the interm period of 30 years. Or is it in Sri Lanka under the Rajapakses Tamils and Tamil political prisoners have no rights to the dismay of good Sinhalese like Fr Iddamalgoda. Do we have a right to hope for racial unity and reconciliation while savages run the roost regardless?

Nimalaruban and Dilrukshan had a right to articulate their dissent. Falsely calling them Tigers/Terrorists is to mitigate the brutality that was designed to finish them; to satisfy the hunger for Tamil blood that is very much on the rise now. Sri Lanka has lost all legitimacy to govern itself. The international community must now look at matters afresh to save the Tamil Nation from further genocide.

GOSL would have been justified in executing these cadres; LTTE certainly took no prisoners. But GOSL, by imprisoning and rehabilitating then releasing all but the most intractable terrorists, has acted reasonably. Were their isolated cases on unfair treatment? Of course, just like in any country including my own. The penal system is far from perfect as human beings are imperfect.

Israel and SL are friends as both have been persecuted and are under siege by hostile nations. Tamils and Palestinians are the ethnicities prone to terrorism, not Israelis and Sinhalese. Of course some Tamils and Palestinians would like to peacefully coexist with others, but those who speak out in favor of reconciliation are generally silenced by the extremist elements.

I am proud to share a State (California) with Gota. But he still has much work to do in SL as the war is far from over; the terrorist diaspora is merely in a strategic pause as it tries to regroup after the glorious humiliation it suffered in 2009. I wish we (the US) could inflict a death blow on Al Qaeda as effectively as Gota put down the LTTE. The traitor narcissist Fonseka tries to claim the credit, but as the excellent scholarly work “Gota’s War” makes clear, the true hero of the struggle is the much maligned Gota. He will eventually get his reward in heaven even if only a scant few appreciate his sacrifices for the greater good here in the ethereal World.

Nothing humiliates a state, than its leader being invited and then being rejected to give his speech not once but-twice, also when all delegates had their country’s flags attached to their car, the sinhalese flag was removed and Mahinda had to travel without it, what can I say?Was it a sad moment or a humiliating one?

A fool would burn an entire house to kill a mosquito, which Gota did and US is no fool to follow him, this term “hero” is nothing but a nonsense one, as this Gota was nowhere to be seen when India raped Lanka’s sovereignty in late 80’s and in the 90’s when Army was suffering heavy casualties and when Jaffna was under seize, this “hero” was enjoying luxury in US as an immigrant.

LTTE was like a swarm of malaria carrying mosquitos which had to be eliminated to save all in the house from disease, to correct your attempted analogy.

Regarding the Indian Army, it was 100s of times the size of the SLA at the time so the SLA could hardly prevent them from coming, and recall they came originally to protect their LTTE birthchild until VP decided their presence no longer served his purposes and he massacred dozens at Jaffna university. The RAW built and armed the LTTE while simaltaneously training officers of the SLA like Gota who was an elite student who scored higher than the traitor Fonseka on the aptitude exams.

Indian meddling in Lankan affairs predated the LTTE, of course. And their policies were quite confused, on the one hand worrying about separatism in Madras (later renamed Tamil Nadu in a token gesture), while on the other Congress wanted the support of Tamil politicians in Delhi.

The truth is Northern Indians view Tamils as the ethnic equivalent of untouchables, savages needing to be managed but certainly not an integral part of “India” nor related to the Bluebloods. I’m sure they ship all the Tamils to Lanka if they could.

Revisionist history is a trademark of the Tamil terrorist disapora. Really nobody wants you in their country, just like no country in the Middleeast wants the Palestinians.

He does not look like starving. If so he could not have the same physic he had 15 days ago. These Tamil are very clever to fool others, like the one who was photographed eating MacDonalds while on hunger strike in London the other day.

      Don Sarath

“These Tamil are very clever to fool others, like the one who was photographed eating MacDonalds while on hunger strike in London the other day”.

None of the media published photograph of the hunger striker who you assumed had eaten burger. In fact there was an allegation in the press and subsequently the news paper compensated and apollogised for defamation.

Please stop being an ignorant little islander.
