Anti-Gay Discrimination Not On The CHOGM Agenda

Homosexuality is illegal in 41 out of the 53 Commonwealth countries, a report released on Monday reveals.

Commissioned by the Kaleidoscope Human Rights Foundation and compiled by LGBT activists throughout the Commonwealth, the report calls for Commonwealth countries to repeal anti-gay legislation, with an immediate moratorium on enforcement.

“If you look at the world as a whole, around about 40% of nations have state-sponsored homophobia,” said Kaleidoscope’s spokesman, Douglas Pretsell.

One thing that the Grand Master of the Colombo Elite, and the UNP, Anglo Saxon Cameron can’t accuse us is Homophobia.

Perhaps it will be good for us to put it on the agenda, to get some brownie points from the West.

For once I find common ground with K.A Sumanasekera. Though I am a bit freaked out.

Yes. It will be good for Sri Lanka to put it on the agenda. We will get some brownie points from the West for sure.

However, we should not do it for brownie points only. Coz’ we will loose points from others in the Commonwealth. Who are relentlessly Homophobic. Notably African countries such as Uganda. And of course Islamic Commonwealth members. List is long.

Nevertheless we should put it on the agenda. Coz’ it is the only morally right thing to do. We can show leadership in this area.

Known leaders in our political establishment are openly gay. Now, how many CGHOGM members can boast that?

      Cheers!

SL has a political party dedicated to homosexuality called UNP.

So no one can accuse SL of discrimination against homosexuals.
