On November 2, the Colombo High Court remanded Alles, Saliya Wickremasuriya and Jayantha Samarasinghe for allegedly committing financial fraud worth Rs. 125 million at the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA) in 2006.

Wickremasuriya was the Chief Operating Officer of RADA, while Samarasinghe was an accountant at the organisation. RADA under the Chairmanship of Alles. They allegedly obtained Rs. 645 million from the Treasury to build houses for tsunami victims. However no houses were constructed. The fourth accused, ex-LTTEer Emil Kanthan has been evading courts and was not present at courts during the ruling early this month.

    Where are you?

If the crooks are going to be released why do they arrest them in the first place?

Can you confirm Duminda is actually/physically serving his sentence?

Will he be pardoned by president to mark next Tamil/Sinhala new year and released in 2017?

Can you not see that this Governement has this revolving door policy towards all their criminals. They go in and come out of Welikade as if they were there on a fact finding mission.

“If the crooks are going to be released why do they arrest them in the first place?”

This is called the Yahapalanaya, Good Governance Nadagama, Drama Directed by the Turncoat, Traitor Gon Sirisena.

We still trust our justice system and politicians? We argue that our justice system is independent, impartial and we don’t need international judges. Lord Buddha of this land is on our side. Murder and corruption is a previlage given to our politicians. It is the only country where real murderers and stealers can become president or prime ministers.

I think we must install the Australian High Commissioner who recently refused visa applications of Mr. Yoshitha Rajapakse and Snr. DIG Lalith Jayasinghe to the Bench. Mr. Yoshitha Rajapakse was granted permission by the courts to leave the country to receive “Medical Treatment” and DIG Jayasinghe applied to attend the graduation of his daughter. This Snr. DIG was the Police Officer who ordered the release of a key suspect in the gang rape and murder of Jaffna girl, Sivaloganatha Vidya. In the midst of these “Court Orders”, there is a move to “expedite” the appeal hearing of Duminda Silva who was convicted of murder and sentenced to death by hanging. Isn’t that strange and tell us something to happen soon in that case too? Now “Yahapalanaya” in its NEW FORM practiced by the present Government has been introduced to the Justice system. Good for Sri Lanka.

“Mr. Yoshitha Rajapakse was granted permission by the courts to leave the country to receive “Medical Treatment” and DIG Jayasinghe applied to attend the graduation of his daughter. “

Seriously, can any ordinary person afford to go abroad for treatment or to attend children’s graduation?

Where did they get the money to educate their children abroad?

Inland Revenue should demand explanation from state functionaries and politician’s family as to the source of their income.

Did Yoshitha R produce a medical certificate testifying that he has an illness (named) which cannot be treated in Sri Lanka?
The court has not said anything.
If this is allowed, any other remanded person can do likewise.

    Native.

All those who were taken in and released on Bail or sentenced to death could be released next Vesak,in keeping with the long traditions of Executive action in this country. After all, Srilanka is a land like no other where Compassion is practiced only on Vesak, just one day!

      Plato.

      Thanks.

I still believe release should be on New Year which seems semi-secular day for Tamils and Sinhalese.

Surprise, surprise. Did anyone think these political cronies, irrespective of their political patronage, would ever be found guilty of the charge(s) & sentenced?

The best the citizens of SL can expect from this corrupt justice system is to see these punks remanded for a few days. They will then be released on bail until the case comes to court, only to be thrown out due to lack of evidence in the end. Even the time in remand can be arranged to be spent in the relative comfort of a hospital. This way, the culprits get away with only a few days of discomfort, which is a minor sacrifice considering the comforts that can be enjoyed for generations from the billions misappropriated, & though the law enforcement officers have appeared to have done their job, due to the legal view that everyone is deemed innocent until proven guilty, there is ultimately no case because of insufficient proof. The culprits are not punished but every one is happy that the wheels of justice seemed to be turning.

Native Vedda: You asked: “Where did they get the money”? The “PEOPLE” of Sri Lanka paid and now they have told the present Government to FIND OUT from what sources these people ROBBED it. The SOURCES are known, e.g. New Air Ports, Harbors, High Ways and Byways, Opening Ceremonies of Projects, Vehicle Permits, Mega Loans in the name of Development, Tsunami Housing, Bond Issues, Purchase of Properties in Foreign countries, MIG Purchase, Maritime Security Business through Avant Garde,etc…etc..etc… The list is too long and I stop here. The Present Government says: We know the SOURCES; but unable to “CATCH” the thieves, so the PEOPLE MUST pay to repay all that money ROBBED. Now the PEOPLE are paying through “Direct & Indirect Taxes”. The surprising thing is “Do the PEOPLE ask WHY we are called upon to pay for those “ACCOUNTED & still a large “UNACCOUNTED” loan burden imposed on us without our knowledge or approval? NO. But they are keen on bringing back those CRIMINALS to run the Government again.

Maithripala better explain why this crook is being released after perpetrating such a collosal fraud. MS interference in the judiciary is not going to be tolerated by the masses anymore. We had enough of this crap when the rajapkses were in power and your involvement in influencing the judiciary is a disgrace and remember that at the next election you will be kicked out if you continue this interference. we will also bring in an impeachment during your Laurent tenor should the situation deteriorate. We voted you in and we will kick you out should you think that you are a god!!!1

Is’nt it laughable when other countries enforce our laws that are blatantly flouted here? One can only imagine the reports filed by the respective embassies to their home ministries.

Singapore, Australia, United States, Uk and others are giving our governing “idiots” Tokkas, but being Sri Lankan’s, the message is not getting through!

The “sudda” lives a life of many conflicts and double-dealing. That’s their way. At least when it comes to our crooks, their vision is 20/20 clear.

This most blatant illegal decision to release Tiran was taken by the old womanizer fox judge Dehideniya and his stooge judge Madawala – both are utterly corrupt and take bribes from lawyers to win cases for them. In the legal circles it is well known Dehideniya is only 2nd to Sarath N Silva in trying to have sex with beautiful female lawyers who appear before him. What a disgustful person
