Astrologer Released On Bail, Travel Ban Imposed

Colombo Chief Magistrate released astrologer Vijitha Rohana Wijemuni on a cash bail of Rs. 10,000 and two sureties of Rs. 1 million today. The Magistrate however imposed a travel ban on Wijemuni.

Wijemuni who shot to limelight in 1987 for attacking Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi with a rifle butt during his visit to Sri Lanka, recently predicted the death of President Maithripala Sirisena in January 2017. In December, Wijemuni said that Sirisena will die by January 26 this year.

Following the prediction, Nimal Bopage, secretary to the ministry of media and Parliamentary affairs lodged a complaint with the police citing that there could be a plot to assassinate Sirisena.

Wijemuni has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department on charges that he made false predictions and for misleading the public. His other predictions include that former defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa will be the next president in Sri Lanka at the 2021 presidential election.

The kind of mild punishment encourage the perpectrators of the nature – we the folks will have no gurantee for the life in this country.

      Dear Colombo Chief Magistrate,

      1. “Colombo Chief Magistrate released astrologer Vijitha Rohana Wijemuni on a cash bail of Rs. 10,000 and two sureties of Rs. 1 million today. The Magistrate however imposed a travel ban on Wijemuni.”

      2. “recently predicted the death of President Maithripala Sirisena in January 2017. In December, Wijemuni said that Sirisena will die by January 26 this year.”

      3. “Wijemuni has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department on charges that he made false predictions and for misleading the public.”

After the furor of the “Yahapalanaya” idiots die down, please remove the cash bail of Rs. 10,000 and two sureties of Rs. 1 million and the travel ban on Wijemuni,

Otherwise, there will be a fundamental rights and double standards petition by Wijemuni and Associates of Wijemuni against, the following politicians and religious leaders, for deception, because of the unequal treatment under the law.

      1. President Sirisena for deceiving the 6.2 million voters, and protecting Mara and cronies.

      2. The religious leaders for false promises of Nirvana, Nibbana, and Heaven, with no proof, confirmed by acceptable and impartial scientific mythodology, not by brainwashing in myths.

True, the misguiding astrologers/sorcery men, are at one extreme of deception spectrum, but the politicians and the religious leaders who promise Nirvana, Nibbana, Heaven etc. , are ALSO in the same spectrum.

So, need to separate Myths and Facts. The Average IQ in the Land of Native Veddah Aethho is 79, and there are many takers, suckers, for these misguiding astrologers/sorcery men/politicians/religious leaders.

      Déjà vu, seen irt before.

Need of the hour to bring new laws to punish anyone to make the kind of predictions that could panik the met people. Even if prez is believed to have not taken it serious, but everyone cant feel the same manner. The kind of Wijithamuni and the like idiots must not be given the least space to behave so – they abuse their freedom this way is a threat to lanken democracy.

if the prevailing laws cant castrate the kind of idiots, they the law makers have to bring reforms to the laws prevailing in the country. Why cant they do so what blocks them taking the time worth actions.

Why arrest him? Just ask him to prove he can foretell events . Best way to expose these frauds is asking them to prove their claims.

A huge problem for SL and the region are charlatans like Astrologers , Swamis, Babas , Mullahs, Priests . The education system needs to impart rationalism into youth at a young age. Rationalism is the antidote for these conmen , which includes religious leaders.

Lankans need to understand that countries enslaved by religion and superstition will always have a low quality of life and be backward. Europe moved forward when they embraced enlightenment. Neither Japan nor Korea are particularly religious.

This is a world where everyone tells lies for one reason or another. One more lie from a petty fake astrologer about a politician, in my opinion makes little difference. After the fake fakir Sumanasekara’s astronomical lies in the guise of astrological predictions on behalf his master the ex-President, now everybody has a hearty laugh whenever they hear of public predictions by such conmen. Wijithamuni’s lies pale into insignificance compared with Sumane’s. Yet authorities have dragged him into jail, then released him imposing travel bans, whereas much bigger crooks that stripped the country of billions of public assets are free to roam round the world, spending that money and enjoying themselves.

Did he predicted his own arrest?

All this proves a few things:
    1. Astrologers are taken seriously in this country
2.The CID believes that it is ok for astrologers to make true predictions
3.It is against the law to make false ones.
    Who to tell aney??
Arrest ALL astrologers, pirith nool sellers, Dalada rain producers, coconut dashers, fire-walkers, feng-shui practitioners and the like . Put it in the new constitution if necessary.

When our leaders go after the astrologers tells us the low mentality of our leaders. They lack confidence to make decisions and rule the country.
