Buddhist monk Galagoda Atte Ganasara was sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment, commutable to six months, by the Homagama Magistrate’s Court a short while ago.
The key figure in the controversial Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), Gnanasara has also been fined Rs 1,500 and instructed to pay Sandhya Ekneligoda Rs 50,000 by way of compensation.
The sentence can be appealed.

What I cannot understand is why monks are not disrobed when they do things that are unworthy of such high regard and privilage.
What is the difference between a real monk and a thug in a robe otherwise.
All monks must strictly abide by the teaching of the Buddha or leave when they fail. After all some choose to leave monkhood on their own.
What I am simply saying is that high regard must come through equally high morality and conduct.

IT looks NGOs and INGOS work. I do not know whether how the Judge was influenced, I mean whether he was bribed some way or he is Protestant. Bhikku ghanasara had never attacked any one except he was vocal. He did not have any previous convictions for being violent. How did the the judge give a first verdict on him one year Rigorous inprisonement and when he doe snot have money how he can force a monk to pay fines. I think the Judge should be sued by challenging his verdict. This shouldnot be neglected as some protestant work (NGO) of anti-Sinhala buddhsit work.

If we are true Sri Lankan Buddhists we should show some compassion to this poor soul Gnanasara. He was a troubled young man …… totally lost ….. when a neoliberal Sri Lanka was emerging in the 80s. He couldn’t find a niche where he could fit it in. So he developed a drinking problem and drove his rickety old lorry like a madman on the streets of Colombo at nights ….. thinking he could flee from his demons. Obviously he couldn’t, and so eventually sought the solace of a ready-made package of companionship and ideology in the saffron brigade. As it always happens in any society in crisis, this lunatic fringe is being exploited by sinister politicians to promote their vile agendas to gain power. Gota did it, and now Maithri too is flirting with Gnanasara (and with the Shaithan Gota himself) time to time … whenever he needs to appease the racist elements in Sinhala community.

So let’s pray to Allah, Jesus and Krishna to help Gnanasara escape from this saffron mafia gang’s grip and become a good Buddhist monk and treat all people – even the minorities – as human. Obviously he also needs some good psychological counseling on how to behave in a civilized society. So, a pending question for this media is if it is relating Old Brother Prince’s anger while his American properties are falling in question, his local properties are also being exposed to danger?
If Gnanam’s excessively harsh verdict and the Kathirkamam Thero’s attempts are related, then one have to unavoidable to guessing that there is joint bid exist in Brother Prince and New Kings EP deals. He refused to solve Tamil Fishermen problems & War Widows’ micro loans problems. When his wooing of Tamil is at this stage, Old Brother Prince made another controversial speech to woo Tamils. He openly said that would treat Tamils like he treated the Muslim spies during the war. If that is not the height of the idiocy, I do not know what will be. Last time (2015) Chandrika went to North and declared it was she who made the peace with “Mr. Pirapaharan”. She named her war as “War for Peace”. The New King & Old Brother Prince duos know their weakness on Tamils issues. So they would like stronger methods which will have more grips to control from a leash instead of going down to the floor to woo Tamils.
That is why New King wants to dissolve parliament and thus fire Ranil, who he guess have Tamils’ support. He will be keeping consulting to dissolve Parliament, but keeping the army by side as the last resort. One can expect Yahapalanaya Parliament not to exist beyond December 31st. The lost ones and not lost ones by 19 A are angry with Ranil because of nasty complications he put through in it, which none of them felt going in the 19A. Many see 19A as more notorious than 18A because they foresaw what 18A can do, (But it didn’t) yet they did not foresee most of those the 19A can do, but those become unexpectedly true. It is going to be too hard to Ranil introduce a new serious bill, but Old Royals and New King can easily manage the support of the parliament for the changes they are looking forward. They will this new trend properly, after they dissolve the parliament.

If the new partners are not successful in dismissing parliament before December 31st, they may seek Rapist Army’s help to do it. In that case, the prospects of Old Brother Prince coming as the EP will go enormously high than anybody else. But if they are successful in dissolving Parliament, then Ranil, Vaalaiththoodam Jr and all other UNPyers will lose prominence in the following EP election.
The temporary parliament may invalidate the 19A dual citizenship requirement or it may remove the 2 times term limit of EP too. It may do both too, but it is hard to predict of under what circumstances will that happen. Though the change has to done by New King, after the change (appointing a New Prime Minister,) his prominence will drastically fall down. The rest of the change will be depending on whose prominence increase after the appointment of the New Prime Minister. If Old King gains upper hand, two terms limitation on EP will be removed. If Old Brother Prince has upper hand, Dual Citizenship requirement will go away. In either of their case American threat is formidable on both and it cannot be ignored.
Old King was ousted from Temple Tree House by Ex Sec. John Kerry in the middle of a coup gossip. If that part is true, Old King will not be able to survive without expecting American and Western retaliation in the EP seat. The very first stunt would be an Economic crippling. Lankawe import for $3.4B from China and export only $250M. Depending on China is not in any way survivability. It will be roasted worse than Cuba. Lankawe will become Somalia or Ethiopia.
