Bloated Cabinet On The Cards

The much-awaited and many times promised cabinet reshuffle is set to inflate the already bloated cabinet of ministers, Colombo Telegraph reliably learns.

Sirisena

The Presidential Secretariat has drawn up a list of 48 cabinet ministries as well as those warranting deputy and state ministers. A total of 45 ministries which require ‘state ministers’ have also been identified.

Colombo Telegraph also learns that some ministries that have been amalgamated without any logic have been separated, for example the Ministry of Highways and Education. Some ministries meanwhile have been reduced to single subjects, for example ‘Sugar’.

The list has been forwarded to the Prime Minister, according to sources.

While the new cabinet will consist of MPs from all parties of the unity government it is not clear whether those who supported the no confidence motion against the Prime Minister or were absent at the vote would get portfolios.

I heard 46 ministers (so 45 deputy ministers) , 25 – 37 State ministers, even Aaddi kalanathan will be a minister This is Ranil’s people and is getting ready for an election. IT looks whole 122 will be some how ministers. CT should have uploaded the talk of Anura Kumara dissanayake drin gthe NCM. Sri lankan politics is very sinister. IT is all about Ranil. HE just uses peoples money or some one else’s money is not sure because the govt is bankrupt.

    Hello Chandra;
Over time I have suggested many a time that MPs should be restricted to legislator role. They should be given a specific job description preventing them from performing even midwifery roles at times. We are stupid to persevere on those requests while knowing that it would defeat the purpose of becoming a Sri Lanka politician viz., to amass wealth.

Best is to sack those former allies of MR from current polticis.

      Sports minister did nothing sofar.
SB just left his farts and stayed in between just spreading hatreds and balancing JO men.
Nimal S Silva is a born idiot as revealed from the begining of this govt.
These men should all be burnt down to feel srilanken better.

Can we have a Minister for Kick-Backs, this has gone out of control since last govt and we cannot prevent it as long as the president is determined to bring the old crooks through the back door.
So lets create a ministry for Kick-backs and try to control it.

While we are at it can we also get a deputy minister for Health & Well Being of remand and regular prisoners who chose to spend their term on a hospital bed than a prison cell.

Increase in number of Ministers is another way of rolling back provincial council powers and limiting its extent. In other words centralizing the state through back door.

How Ranil and the Big building in front of his office ruin us:Sri Lanka has become one of the first places in the world for trafficking of all kinds, drugs and weapons, but especially for the laundering of dirty money; the criminalization of the economy takes place especially in the field of real estate.

On the other hand, at the international level, the Colombo government broke with its former allies, renounced non-alignment, and in an unprecedented way in the annals agreed to co-sponsor with the United States a resolution to the Human Rights Council. Man of the UN in Geneva against his own national interests and the sovereignty of the country. This resolution advocates, among other things, the establishment of hybrid tribunals with the participation of foreign magistrates to try alleged war crimes of the Sri Lankan army and political leaders of the time. It also requires the drafting of a new constitution for which the Americans have offered their services.

High-level emissaries from Washington, the State Department, the US Army, are increasing visits and inspection tours. After being chased out of Sri Lanka by the left in the 1970s as in other Third World countries like Bolivia, Peru, Indonesia, the Peace Corps are back through a signed Leonin assistance contract with great pomp in the presence of the Prime Minister and the US Ambassador. The “Peace Corps”, “US Aid”, is as we know with huge budgets of hundreds of millions of dollars the screens of the actions of the CIA.

Add to this sad record the foothold and fussy control of the media as social networks.

Pity Cabinet-bloating is the one and only way to keep MPs in toe. The MPs go on to bloat themselves and we, the silent majority pay for this and get poorer and poorer.

IN this MY3 is a wi.lling partner. Ranil thinks that Mahinda Rajapakse is doing it differently, I have to do it. IF Mahinda Rajapakse comes, the game will be the same and this Author doe snot know it or he thinks differently.

The tragic events and provocations of recent days are reminiscent of 1983, the party in power is willing with the help of the United States and in a different international context to practice the politics of the worst to save a power already in tatters.

The situation is therefore very serious and can lead to the repetition of what were the darkest pages in the history of Sri Lanka.

All communities in Sri Lanka must live in harmony, 30 years of war, tens of thousands of deaths and destruction have given way to a strong desire for peace and the simple requirement to live better in respect of the dignity of all and against all forms of foreign interference.

The Sri Lankans want to solve their problems by themselves, this feeling is very strong. The current leaders of the country, in place with the help of the United States, have lost all credibility, the Sri Lankan people decided to tell them: Enough, clear, or we will oblige!

One look at the Ministers in the white sarong and tunic and you know the meaning of the word “bloated”.

To know that there will be some more candidates in the coming days who will – in a matter of weeks – attain such bloated status, is reassuring indeed, for the well-being and generosity of our country.

    Here comes another jumbo cabinet.

I hope this is just to ensure that the new constitution is passed so that we can rid ourselves of the tyranny once and for all. Our MPs are nothing but shameless, spineless crustaceans.

I don’t think this expansion would solve anything.

It has to be 75 ministers and 75 State and Deputy Mimidterd. Otherwise Ranil will another NCM in 6 months. There is chance New King facing a impeachment.

      Analyst:
Before starting a revolution and losing more lives people have to stop being stupid at the ballot box.
One of the things that Harin Fernando said during the NCM debate was that 94 of the members have not passed the GCE O/L that is around 42% of the total seats. There lies the problem. First correct this.

Its not Dr. Ranil’s Cabinet but the “Gamarala Sirisena’s”. He has to now take the rest of the crooks from the last govt as punishment for backstabbing the Rajapaksa’s again on the NCM.
If he doesn’t there are chances that the crooks will start singing who actually initiated the NCM.

Sri Lankan Parliament is a Joke full of Clowns. IT does not matter they all are there to fulfill their wishes and to live flamboyant lives with public money. CBK was sved< Mahinda Rajapske was saved. So will the PResident Maithripala sirisena, the re is no fear in that. The plan is CBK was a chora rujina. Mahinda Rajapakse was a alibaba. UNP party is Alibaba and 40 thieves. It doe snot matter. the next phase Mke PRESIDENT thr new king is also a Paraih just like Mahinda Rajapakse is and get rid of him. Make the Ranil the President. Do tamils thinl they win. Wait and see. Tamil women will have white babies. Evangelists think they get a multi storied Television tower for their religion to be telecasted, Muslims think they NAsirishthan every where in Sri lanka. Tamils think they get Orumiththa nadu. 69% sinhala buddhists withdraw to Bengal and Orissa. I know here, muslims don't like to use their name instead use europen names to say that they are not terrorists. In Sinhale bhikkus and sinhala buddhists are terorists.

Why to Orissa and Bengal? They will not want you. The vast majority of the present day Sinhalese Buddhists arrived from Tamil Nadu/Kerala . Return there. Even they will not want you.

It is well known that the bureaucracy within the palace is humongous. This is yet again a set of knaves performing an act and in the pretense of pleasing the master. For whatever reason the Government of Good Governance decided from Jan 8, 2015 to have unrelated subjects together, the glaring example being Higher Education and Highways. A recent joining together is Digital Infrastructure with Foreign Employment. While a split is justified to have more Ministries, there is no bar to have one Minister heading several ministries, thus being within the Constitution.

What do you expect Ranil has pay off the guys who supported him in the NCM. Sirisena has to give Cabinet posts to those who stood by him in his failed putsch.

Who cares if the cabimet is already 4 times what was promised under Yahapalanays. Of course we will have to import more duty free cars!!

I hear RW & Sirisena are agreed on increasing the number of national list MPs. Some are to be appointed into the Cabinet, including Kumar David, but he wont be given CEB, as he was literally screwing around, and misusing circuit bungalows, when he was in CEB the 1970s.

Will all of them award themselves a second duty-free car permit – another 40 Million. on resale?

Guys please do not complain . At least this way Lanka will get into the Guinness Book. The Lankan politicians are so much service minded they are appointing a minister for each citizen, like the ICU care in the hospitals.( the true nature of the personal care will reflect on the hospital bills). As physicians say “the patient survived but the family committed suicide?????.The public is clueless. Should I feel pity or indifferent.I am clueless too.Like personal trainer/finance adviser/chef , now you have your personal minister representing you in the parliament.A true miracle.

Yes, he will drag everyone whom he does not agree with to the Galle Face Green including the former national hangman’s clan.
He has not made a comprehensive statement on war crimes.
He is also a public racist.
What could he bring to the table apart from his stupidity, anger and bigotry.

      Aska ,

Not only you , many even among cabinet ministers wrongly believe
that SF can deliver as minister of Law and Order .It is absurd to even
imagine him in that kind of capacity ! Who else is capable or ready in
their respective ministries of delivering ? Ravi was in such a powerful
      position and a professional , what happened ? Harsha , Eran , Akila ,
they were not all from the military but able young strong men . But
what have they done so far ? THE CRUCIAL PROBLEM FOR SRILANKANS
IS , THEY DON’T KNOW ABOUT THEMSELVES ! EVERYTHING ELSE IS
      ONLY AFTER THAT .

No he will do this in time to bring the rest of the crooks through the back door and there will be another set of vehicle permits issued.

I hear the MP’s are planning a summer auction for the vehicle permits.

Actually bloating the cabinet is not a bad idea for 2 reasons. First, the main task of the current government is fixing the broken system by introducing new laws so that the same mistakes won’t be repeated by crooks in any form in the next 100 years.

Second, when we have limited resources to complete a simple task in a social space then we should use all available personals and make each of them relevant (social media theory) so that the work will be completed with every member’s contribution. Here the point is not about complete the works successfully with minimum number of personals but to do so within the same budget using a larger team so that each one will be proud of the involvement and will feel that they are also contributing to complete the main task. But the real elite team of dedicated personals with proven track records will be managing the front line champs from the back-end.

This concept is already in work in big cities in China and will be eventually expanded to other places when the population is doubled in the next 50-100 years. So why not try the same concept here?

    • 0
      0

Second, when we have limited resources to complete a simple task in a social space then we should use all available personals and make each of them relevant

You mean the cabinet ministers to use the 8th grade water buffaloes to carry the looting instead of Defender or Mercedes?

Do you know what directions China and Lankawe are going? China, few years ago, redeemed Hong Kong from Britain, but Lankawe, wealthiest British Colony in the Hemisphere, last year sold the sold Hangbangtota to China to settle the loan. That is the result of SWRD just copying and implementing Communism from USSR without understanding.
