Bond Commission Today: Prime Minister Gets Only Full Tosses

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was asked no question of consequence by the commissioners or the Attorney General during testimony today at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry and instead was given a platform to explain the need at the time to raise money.

He was questioned on a questionnaire by the Attorney General who failed to ask Wickremesinghe a single follow up question regarding the conflict of interest between Arjun Mahendran’s and Arjun Aloysius’ dealings.

During the questioning he said that he wanted Arjun Aloysius to divest his ownings in PTL when Mahendran was taking over. He also said he went by Arjun Mahendran’s assurance that Aloysius had done so.

No follow up question was asked regarding what transpired at the commission proceedings during the last eight months. The questions lasted 40 minutes after which Wickremesinghe left for parliament. Almost all UNP cabinet ministers were present at today’s hearings.

He should RESIGN and give Eran or Harin to run the party. He is destroying the UNP.

Full tosses or half pitchers RW appeared before the commission. There were no monks to chant Pirith or protest in front of the commission premises. AG’s Department is not under President or Premier. Now the AG Dept. is an independent body unlike under previous regime. If the commission and AG Dept can summon powerful ministers such as Ravi K, Malik Samarawickrama, Khabeer Hashim and question them there can’t be any special treatment only for RW. Remember Ravi. K resigned from the ministerial portfolio. If the RW didn’t appear before the commission then Byyo will say abuse of power. Now RW is gone before and Byyo’s are taking ‘Athal’ saying PM got full tosses to bat. what a load of rubbish. Bayyas wanted their Hero to ask questions from PM but don’t forget that the same hero was warned by 2 commissioners for his ugly behavior.

        Lapatiya
        .
Of course, Bond Commission is a special treatment to PM. Ranil, his rogue gang of politicians, Mahendran and Aloysius all should otherwise have been prosecuted. Anyways, at least President has the backbone to appoint a PCoI, though he seem never to expect his Bond Commission mouse-trap placed before the mouse-nest will catch an elephant. (inspired by a cartoon).
        .
What is the use of Ranil appearing before the Commission to answer a pre-written script? Who wants to know Prime Minister’s rationale for masterminding the Bond Scam/Fraud? This is a complete whitewash by the Bond Commission.
        .
In the public eye, the first question PM should answer is the reason to appoint a non-Sri Lankan citizen as the Central Bank Governor breaching the Constitution who even failed to give oaths. PM has no rationale to this. He is guilty, therefore he should be punished.
        .
Though the PM says there can be mistakes, the Bond Scam/Fraud is NOT a mistake but “the most ingenious and flagrant scheme in the Sri Lankan history” which orchestrated entirely to benefit PTL owned by former Governor’s s-i-l enabling him to accumulate a ginormous wealth at the expense of government institutions which a view to use a part of that money for bribes and future political campaigns of the UNP. The entire scheme had PM’s full backing otherwise Aloysius has no guts to buy Ministers including some Members of COPE, which in fact was established to observe/peruse the financial conduct of Public Enterprises. PM’s “pre-planned mistake” has cost the country Trillion Rupees so far with total collapse of the economy and future losses in country’s air/sea/land assets not to mention untold hardships on the common man. Ranil has no legal or ethical right to remain in his position or contest future elections.

          Lanka Champa News,
RW has already answered the question of appointing Non-Sri Lankan as Governor by way of an affidavit and further clarification on the matter before the commission. You better read the answers before comment.

Rational analysis Lapatiya….. though you call yourself Lapatiya, you have studied this bond drama in a mature manner. There is no single clean politician but the UNPers with their forward thinking are far better than the corrupt murderous SLFP regime (whether they call themselves the JOkers or by any other stupid name). The whole bond drama was caused by Perpetual Treasuries and some government / private sector officers who have been up to their tricks as they used to do during the previous regime. Arjun Mahendran has ruined his reputation by trying to support (intentionally or unintentionally) his son-in-law. He will repent at leisure.

This is the latest gimmick by Ranil W.

First he appointed his Buddy a foreigner as the Central Bank Governor to engineer this scam. Then he appointed a committee of three UNP Lawyers to investigate. Then he came to Parliament and denied any wrong doing in the Bond transactions.

Now when everything is exposed he along with the Chairman and the Sceratary of UNP appears before the commission. However the Lawyers (De Livera & Kodagoda) who investigated the scam either refused or were not allowed to question these people.

These people must be thinking Sri Lankan voters are fools. Any person who vote for the UNP will only be supporting these scoundrels at their own expense.

      33

not to forget the so called COPE members of UNP the ‘foot-note gang’ who cheated the COPE commitee and then Sujeewa S, who did publish a book which says nothing wrong in Bond deals and due process followed.

      14

De Livera and Kodagoda are accused of serious abuses of power and intimidating witnesses. They have also been warned by the commissioners for their bad behaviours. Don’t think they are clean

It appears that Ranil & the UNP has taken a clue from Rajapaksas and hired a gang to insult people who have the guts to protest against the ‘highway robbery of the Central Bank’

What they forget is that the fate of Mahinda & clan await these UNPers as well. At least Mahinda had the war victory to boast. Ranil has no achievements. His only achivement is Engineering the great robbery of poor peoples EPF savings.

Today’s Daily Mirror report on PM’s submissions to the commission is very interesting

In response to AG’s query whether PM clarified the conflict of interest arising between Mahendran & Aloysius and allegations on Ravi K, PM states that `I asked them and they said there is no collusion’. There was no need to further investigate.

When the whole country was agitating that Mahendran colluded with Aloysius and There were complaints in the Parliament that Ravi’s rent is paid by this man, PM did not want to further investigate this matter. In a country like Sri Lanka where everybody speaks to each other A FEW PHONE CALLS WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO ASCERTAIN THE TRUTH.

Not only he did not want to investigate. He even tried his best to block removing Mahendran and provided an office for Ravi in his office.

Dan, so you don’t want to us to vote UNP Members in to the Parliament. What about in to Local Councils in January 2018? That will be harmless enough, won’t it?

      *

There will be many thinking so, right now, since we vote on local issues, or not even on that. We are all definitely personally acquainted with some of the guys standing for election. So, we can say that we voted for those candidates, and not for the Party concerned.

      *

NO! Things have got so bad in the country that I think that we must all give this clear message to those who want to stand in the elections next month:

      *

If you choose to stand from the two totally corrupt groups we shall NOT vote for you. What are the two corrupt groups? Ah, there’s the rub! For me they are the UNP and the Rajapaksa Faction of the SLFP. Oh, dear! Why did I spoil “our victory” by quite unnecessarily bringing the Rajapaksas in to it? Champa, whom I refuse to accept as merely a chauvinistic Sinhala-Buddhist, will refuse to accept this assessment, but I see National Reconcilliation among all the various social groups as absolutely essential. And we can’t get that with this Rajapaksa family holding on to any positions of importance.

      *

So, this message from me is to prospective UNP candidates who will be handing over nominations two weeks from now. Unless the UNP is cleaned at the top, no votes for you at the bottom.

      *

      You have been warned!

Bond Scam Ranil should be impeached for Grand Larceny. I hope the PCOI recommends this strongly.

His Royal college network – Ravi K, Malik, pretty boy Sagala, Highway robber Kiriella, Kabir, Sujeeva Senasinhe and Foot note man Harsha also must be impeached for looting the people and Central Bank of Lanka.
UNP needs a new generation of leaders to take over.

There is a huge vacuum to be filled up by a good decent and strong leader.I think the UNP should keep on changing leaders until one clicks with the people.

Or maybe like macron a good UNP’er should leave the party and start his own.

Why do you think riots happened in Galle the weekend before Ranil appeared at the Bond Commission? To distract media and moda masses from his corruption and UNP bondscam!

Divide, Distract with Hate Speech and riots, and Rule the people is the bi-partisan UNP-SLFP policy of Ruling. The riots were staged to distract everyone from Bondscam.

Ranil is following Mahinda Jarapassa lead – Divide and distract the people from his Corruption, while pretending to be the good guy for the minorities.

This must be the most treacherous example in present day politics. The height of ingratitude is unfathomable .President must remember he is in this position not because of SLFP but for UNP. whose rank and file followed the call of their leader to vote for a person most probably unwillingly as majority of the UNP voters know the calibre of SLFP politicians. We have enough proof about the dishonest conduct of the Rajapakse regime but President to date has not taken any action to bring them before the Law instead has in fact rewarded them with ministerial status when actually they should be behind bars including the ex president. UNP voters have no qualms about their corrupt representatives being brought before the law , as things are the writing is on the wall the witch hunt will begin before the next General Election, but one can be sure all responsible for injustices will face retribution, and truth like oil will come to the surface. Our country deserves honest and sincere leaders and dedicated civic representatives and not swindlers. Enough is Enough.

In MaRa time there would not be any investigation. Journalists would not have questioned it. Here the govt allows a commission to investigate with extensive investigation powers. Powerful ministers testify. Finance minister resigns. PM VOLUNTARILY appears and answers all questions put to him. What more good governance!

So the script can now be written. The title of the film will be
Ali Ranil and the Forty Thieves!!

The story begins at the Central Bank where they carried out
the biggest robbery in Sri Lanka’s history. Ali Ranil appoints
a Committee which gives him report whichhe expected. First
COPE parliamentary inquiry died after Sirisena dissolved
    parliament.

The second COPE. Ali Ranil got a Tamil MP from the estate areas
to resign and put Arjun Aloysius’ close Sujeeva Senasinghe
buddy as a member. He wrote a book white washing Alosius
and abused those testifying before the Commission. Now we
know, he received a brand new Mercedes Benz from whom.

Ali Ranil first sent his three minissters – Rat Face Malik, Baby Face
Mangala and Egg Head Kabir – to ask Sirisena to prevent the Commission
from summoning him. Sirisena refused. Then Ali Ranil met him and
pleaded for pardon. He promised he will expedite all the outstanding
    cases of bribery and corruption.

Sirisena, unable to win back the SLFP, had no choice. So he agreed. So the rest
was stage managed. Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya, the amoeba
wants to become the Chief Justice. So he came to the Commission and
    posed some velvet clad questions.

The game is now over. The final deal has been worked out. Next year
Sirisena will get the Nobel prize for destroying the SLFP. Wickremesinghe,
who wants to become President of Sri Lanka, can now rob another
bank. Who cares. Good news for Malik, Sagala (the great Chief of Staff)
Kiriella, Daya Gamage, Ajith Perera and the other thieves.

Sixteen Comments so far, and every sign of manipulation of the comments, up to this point (3.31 p.m. on 15 November 2015) by supporters of Mr Ranil Wickremasinghe.

The “regulars” haven’t begun commenting yet, but it is in the likes(Green Thumbs Up) and the dislikes (Red Thumbs Down) that this is to be seen. Unfortunately, this overkill is likely to cause regular users to smell a rat.

    *

People like me would like to see “Yahapalanaya” succeed, but we have been uncomfortable of late. Let me try to illustrate what I mean by “manipulation”:

    *

Tennyson Cooray has posted, at 14.19, (it would have appeared some time later):

“CT, whether it is full toss, beamer, yorker, googly, or doorsha he did it in real fashion another Donald Bradman.”

It has so far got twelve (12) likes and 1 (one) dislike.

The sort of readers whom we have are unlikely to give likes to such stereotyped comments, and on the other hand only one dislike?

By the time I post this (it is now 3.49 p.m.) I don’t know what the score will be, but his is obviously organised.

      Lapatiya 34/8
      Matilda Ellepola 3/22

You are not that intelligent to form a long term view and vision of the country. A card carrying Sinhala/Buddhist fascist cannot see beyond their nose hence their understanding of the country is confined to being a racist bigots and unable to distinguish right from wrong.

            1

            Veddo,

First target is to clean up rotten elements from the proud “vedi sanuhare”.

And we know right from wrong though some fools think we are fools. It is good that they think we are fools so they wouldn’t know what hit them when it hit them.

The fundamental problem facing the island is keeping it intact as a single unitary entity. Rest of the issues though many of them are important are secondary. In order to retain the island as a single, unitary entity, there is an urgent need to defeat the forces and their local agents (who have captured the levers of power) that assembled in Singapore, London and elsewhere to map out the destruction of Sri Lankan state.

You and few others have been shamefully providing cover for this anti SL project and agenda. Nation needs to be mobilised (there are encouraging signs that the nation is in fact getting to know the threat and mobilising against it) to face this grave threat and defeat the masterminds and their servile ass lickers as has been the case in our 2,500+ history.

      *

The tragedy is that all younger people who are capable of doing anything constructive are deciding to leave this country.

      *

Some investigating was necessary. Our problem is that we swallow every story, every rumour without looking beyond our noses – and now see the ever worsening mess that we are in. Think of the Sri Lanka that Ranil was born in to (just about a year after Indpendence), and think of it now.

      *

We gave Maithri and Ranil a mandate on January 8th, 2015. I don’t feel BADLY let down by Maithri. But if he now is reduced to hiring trolls to make intelligent discussion impossible, it is something that I feel is worth exposing that fact.

Thonda, your Big Boss Rajapaksha looted the country in style and put Sri Lanka in a huge debt trap. So much so, we now need Rs. 1807 Billion to bridge the budget deficit through external and domestic loans. The expenditure includes the repayments of loans taken at high commercial interest from the Chinese. Remember, it is this government which is committed for repayments while your Big Boss and his brothers and sons just went on a mega construction spree, building highways, stadiums, Lotus ponds and Lotus towers, and what not, expecting the poor to tighten their belts.
Obviously, this was the reason to increase the Bond issue from Rs. 1 Billion to Rs. 10 Billion in 2015 and not because, as you so foolishly claim that the UNPers wanted to loot the country. In this type of a looming financial crisis, what could the Govt. do with just Rs. 1 Billion? Also, didn’t it strike you that there were other bidders who had also made a huge profit from the 2015 Bond issue, including ETF, Seylan Bank, HSBC apart from Perpetual Treasuries, with the biggest kill in the deal by Bank of Ceylon, a state bank! Now whose funds does the Bank of Ceylon represent? So why is this big circus only over Perpetual Treasuries’ bid? Didn’t it strike you that the investigating officers of the Bond commission were ignoring the benefits that had accrued to the State from the Bond issue and were playing to the gallery? The “foot note gang” (having a better intellect than you obviously) were trying to explain the correct legal and economic position of the bond issue, which has been brushed aside as irrelevant to serve the ulterior motives of those who want to destroy the UNP. When this matter goes to court, the House of Cards built by people like you will invariably crash land with a mighty big thud!

Regardeless of who or who not appear before the the Commission and what or what not have been disclosed ,it is no -brainer that UNP Leadership including RW knew very well what took place and subsequently took every possible step to cover up the deal.

On the other hand President Sirisena too did not appoint a Commission with an intention to uncover the fraud and bring to justice those in the wrong, but instead on a personal agenda to distract attention away from his/family’s questionable and dubious dealings by slinging mud at UNP /RW

Classic situation of being caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.

As people think AG is partial, he should resign his position.
It looks Maitheripala Sirisena, rest of the 225 and all are in the same game of stealing from the country. voters are powerless. No one to look after their interest. Country is vulnerable to foreign forces to take over. That was happening when RAVI the LIAR was there.
It is amazing to see how many want to protect the world first, THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE COUNTRY IS A BANK ROBBER. It is truly D.S. and Dudley who are ashamed now. There is a mega thief. there are so many protecting him. Probably they all get pieces of the pie.
Definitely Maithripala Sirisena should be in the same boat because he is not taking any steps.
Everybody know many including Mahinda Rajapakse and Basil Rajapakse are thieves too . Basil Rajapakse is a thief who is trying to save him by postponing and changing the judge of hearing. Every word come from Mahinda Rajapakse is supportive of the thieves.
voters can not talk then the law come against the law makers who are thieves.

Basically this a major cop-out by the commission. If RW was truthful, he should have the guts to face Dappula Livera and face his questions. Is this man a leader or a housemaid? A leader leads and monitors what is going on amongst his flock, deal with the culprits and troublemakers, whereas this housemaid just hides behind the kitchen door and mumbles I don’t know what is going on, I gave my instructions, to a crook that I believed in his integrity. What utter nonsense. If he has any shame RW should resign by tomorrow morning. I just hope that people would not give him a second change to govern, every time he makes a big blunder and a great loss to the nation. Disgraceful!

It is amazing. these people are really rats. they are hiding and running away as fast as they can. They do not want to accept that they are thieves. I can see in the video how many two piece suits and others were behind this thief and what their character and values would be. these are the people who are looking for votes during the next election too. They come in new – luxury benzes ans in two piece suits but just like MAfia bosses. they are not direct thieves or murderers. they give orders and stay like bosses. Most probably trip to Modi is also to delay it. It would be interesting to see what Modi, who is fighting himself to stop corruption in his country, would be advising this thief to step down.
Mr. CLEAN RANIL is struggling to step down because he is so accustomed to live like a rat hiding in the kitchen.
Ranil the bank robber and his gang also proves he is not a capable leder as he could not touch anything of the previous govt. what a loser fighting in front of powerless voters.
