Whats the difference between a safe house and a normal house?Who lives in these so called safe houses and why?Are these safe houses being used for nefarious activities? Are these safe houses used by underworld characters, drug traffickers, terrorists?Who is Kumara Mahathaya? The name sounds like an alias you come across in blogs.Going by the photo,i have never seen this guy before.Without knowing this guys background,it is not wise for me to comment on his alleged abduction. But i smell a rat here.Who knows whether this is a staged managed abduction?

Yes, you moron, all 40-odd abductions that took place during February-March are stage-managed. All of them. Not to mention how Bharatha Lakshman shot himself to implicate Hon Kudu Duminda Silva. Pity Kumara mahaththaya or Dimuthu Attygalle’s next of kin couldn’t make that vital phone-call to MR or GR or else they could have been found in no time.

Kumar Gunarathnam is a Sinhalese Tamil or a Tamil Sinhalese. He has maintained a consistent political view which we may not agree. However JVP or any JVP dissident group through out the history have not been tactical. Rajapakses are afraid that the Peratugami Pakshaya has links with Tamil diaspora.Even if there are no links at the moment, a link would be created in future and the background is there for that.So this is something we expected before 9th of April.

The tourist in the chicken coop (by PresiDunce Bean)
Once upon a time, on a sunny morning on Idiot Island, a man looked out of the window and saw a tourist inside his chicken coop. So the man went to the bedroom where his wife was still asleep and woke her.
“There is a tourist in the chicken coop,” he said, “and I think he is hatching an international conspiracy!”
His wife opened one angry eye and looked at him.
“Tourism has been completely defeated,” she said. “There are no longer any tourists on Idiot Island…not even the ones who went around waving white flags!”
So the man walked out slowly into the garden and went towards the chicken coop. The tourist was still there.
“Are you a tourist or a state tourist? The man asked. “I’m a tourist, and I’m hatching an international conspiracy using NGO money to bring the government of Idiot Island into disrepute!” the tourist replied.
So the man walked back into the house and roused his wife again. “The tourist is hatching an international conspiracy using NGO money to bring the government of Idiot Island into disrepute!” he said.
His wife sat up in bed and looked at him coldly.
“You are an unpatriotic idiot who doesn’t love his country,” she said, “and I’m going to have you arrested under the Prevention of Tourism Act!”
The man who was a patriot, who didn’t boast about it to anyone, thought for a moment. “We shall see about that,” he said. Then he walked back towards the chicken coop to watch the tourist. But the tourist had vanished! Maybe a ‘White Unidentified Four-wheeled Object’ (WUFO) had made him vanish thought the man.
The wife got up and dressed as fast as she could. She was very excited, thinking about the reward she would get for capturing a traitor. So she hung the national flag from the window and telephoned the Peacekeepers and the Minister for the Prevention Of Tourism, (POT) and told them to hurry to her house as soon as possible!
When the Peacekeepers and the Minister of POT arrived, they sat down and looked at her with great interest.
“My husband,” she said, “saw a tourist inside our chicken coop this morning!”
The Peacekeepers looked at the Minister of POT, and the Minister of POT looked at the Peacekeepers.
“He told me that the tourist was hatching an international conspiracy using NGO money!” she said.
The Minister of POT looked at the Peacekeepers, and the Peacekeepers looked at the Minister of POT.
“He told me the tourist was planning on bringing disrepute on the government of Idiot Island!” she said.
At a signal from the Minister of POT, the Peacekeepers leapt from their chairs and seized the wife. She put up a terrific struggle, but they finally got her under control, just as the husband came back from the chicken coop.
“Did you tell your wife you saw a tourist in the chicken coop?” asked the Minister of POT.
“Of course not,” said the husband. “Tourism has been completely defeated and there are no longer any tourists on Idiot Island…not even the ones who went around waving white flags!”
“That’s all I wanted to hear,” said the Minister of POT. “Take her away. I’m sorry sir, but your wife is a threat to national security!”
So they took her away, cursing and screaming and locked her up in a “Welfare Holiday Camp” under the ‘Prevention of Tourism Act.’
And so the husband lived happily ever after.
The Moral of the story:
Don’t count your international conspiracies before they are hatched.
/
Max Silva / April 8, 2012
For Christ sake can’t you keep your silly stories short? If there is someone whom i hate other than a terrorist is a time waster.

My memories of “Premakumar gunarathnam” and “Ranjithan Gunarathnam” goes back to 1983~1989 of my universiy E Faculty Era. Dear Ranjithan, It has now been confirmed that you are dead.Your lean and pleasant face still haunts in my mind.Dear Ranjithan you were two years senior to me in University E Fac. Dear Premakumar you were two years junior to me. I was and also is not in total agreement with your cause. But I had and still have a tremendous reverence towards your commitment towards the society.Dear premakumar,I still can remember you singing “Para soyagena hasarak asamin yanagamane” of Gunadasa Kapuge at Gandarwa Saba singing competition of University of Peradeniya. But I know that you knew the road and you led Sri Lanka to the correct path by reviewing JVP which led to the triumph over Facist LTTE. But the serious mistake you made was letting so called recently popped up popular figures of JVP to take the party in their own way.I think it was too late when you started corrective action.
I still wonder why your party and you left room for these terrorists/rogues/Vandalists (“patriotic Leaders” as many idiots of Sri Lanka say) to snatch you so easily from us ,the mother Sri Lanka.

Weerasinghe,
That’s a very romantic piece. Can’t you come up with something similar on Velupillai Prabakaran who i have no doubt, was snatched away so early in life in Gunarathnam fashion. So the Gunaratham brothers did really like sinhala music,eh!May be that’s why these pleasant faced fellows murdered Premakeerthi de Alwis and Vijaya Kumaranathunge in cold blood. What a wonderful set of romantic fellows!

As soon as the Final War was concluded the talk was that some former JVP activists, key figures who were involved in a particular infamous uprising were organizing themselves and surreptitiously looking at arming themselves to engage in dissident politics. There was speculation that they will even affiliate themselves with the LTTE rump to get at any cache of weapons not recovered or cleared by the Army because it was believed that not all of the LTTE ordinance was recovered by the Army.
The talk was also that these dissidents were being helped by external elements / parties some in the guise of NGOs & INGOs.
As usual certain media organizations are continuously spinning the event, pathetic outlook, weeping women, absence of rights etc. and certain others playing it down.
The timing of the disappearance is interesting in that it happened at a time when several destabilizing factors have failed and the activities, actions and stance of NGOs/ INGOs were beginning to get a beating and viewed in a negative light.

The entrance of Kumar Mahathaya is surrounded in controversy.Did he arrive at all in Srilanka? When? From where? With whom? For what? Why the secrecy? Some years back Somawansa Amarasinha arrived in Srilanka to a rousing public welcome. There was no secrecy about his arrival. But this this Kumara Mahathaysa’s arrival smacks of something extremely weird. My feeling is that he came to Srilanka to start a new round of terror.Otherwise why the secrecy?
/
Rana / April 9, 2012
So are you suggesting “This Kumara mahatthaya is shrouded in secrecy; therefore it’s ok to abduct/white-van him”?
/
Max Silva / April 9, 2012
Who says that he was abducted? And if so by whom? Are you ruling out that this is not a staged managed abduction,to earn a few more $$$?The most important question is was he ever in Srilanka?Who knows whether this Mahathaya might have run away with a married woman and is in hiding? There are many options other than the abduction fiasco. My feeling is that right this moment he is shacked up with a woman somewhere.

The dissident group among the JVP that feels that the current JVP politics is too placid and wanting to steer JVP politics down a more revolutionary and combative path.
The tussle for the JVP printing press, a couple of months before the end of last year and who takes control of the armory and the fight over party resources, the division into two factions are perhaps issues that have to be taken with some seriousness in JVP politics.
/
Gunaratnum / April 9, 2012
Who wants to abduct this idiot? JVP must have kept them in a hide out to blame The GOSL. Really speaking who bothers to abductthis GON THADIYA? Pl check @ the cattle slaughter house by mistake cattle butcher must have taken this GON THADIYA.
/
Max Silva / April 9, 2012
We should not get excited about this. There’s no doubt that this whole saga was staged managed as a publicity stunt. It is common knowledge that this “Peratugami Pakshaya”is a still born baby. This outfit is nothing more than a village “Maranadara Samithiya”.Hence this abduction fiasco was a creation of themselves. You can bet your last buck that the duo will appear in a few days and claim that they were abducted in a white van and later they were dropped on a roadside with eyes blinded. This is a “Disappearing con trick”.

The emotional plea by Premakumar Gunaratnam’s mother, a retired teacher from Kegalle was heart wrenching. I wonder what she has to say to the family of Daya Pathiran, who was murdered by her eldest son Ranjitham Gunaratnam.
Significantly, the JVP’s first victim in the JVP’s post-1983 history was not a representative of the bourgeois state or the UNP which proscribed the JVP, but a radical student activist, with impeccable anti-UNP credentials — Daya Pathirana, the leader of the Independent Students Union (ISU) of the University of Colombo! The Daya Pathirana assassination was a watershed in the JVP’s post-1983 history. It played a key role in deciding the nature and the trajectory of the JVP’s second insurgency.
Daya Pathirana pioneered the Independent Students Union (ISU) of University of Colombo during his study at the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo. Pathirana as a very poor student, a radical Leftist, not a member of the old Left or the traditional Left. Although he was leftist, he vehemently opposed Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), which had almost total control over the student’s unions in Sri Lanka. Daya Pathirana and the Independent Students Union led by him became the most serious threat to the JVP control. On December 15, 1986, he along with a colleague named Somasiri was abducted to a lonely spot off the Bolgoda Lake, Piliyandala. The abductors then began to torture him and Somasiri, demanding information about other student and left activists. This was interrupted by a group of pilgrims (as it was the full moon poya day). It saved the life of Somasiri. But Pathirana was cut-throat at the point of intervention and eventually succumbed to his wounds. JVP unleashed violence killing radical leftist figures like Daya Pathirana and Vijaya Kumaratunga in a bid to neutralize the threats from the left-wing politics itself.
What kind of revolutionaries follow, without any qualms, orders to cut throats of young fellow Leftists of similar social backgrounds – like Daya Pathirana of the ISU? What kind of Leftists destroy a computer centre in a University as they did at Ruhuna?
Daya Pathirana was unarmed. He never carried a gun. He was a man of peace and abhorred guns. Can we ever forget JVP terror, which Premakumar Gunaratnam was hoping to restart again in Sri Lanka.
Premakumar Gunaratnam has philosophy “While my family is safe and sound in luxury in Sydney, let others to the killing and dying”. I feel sorry for those idiots who followed Premakumar Gunaratnam. They were to be the vanguard of a future killing machine.
