Breaking News: Leader Of The Opposition And TNA Members Visit Flood Affected Areas

For the first time since heavy rains caused floods, Leader of the Opposition and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) R. Sampanthan has visited the flood affected areas today (3rd June 2017) in Ratnapura with this colleagues M.A. Sumanthiran and Mavai Senathirajah.

The floods resulted from a heavy southwest monsoon, beginning around 18-19 May 2017. Flooding was worsened by the arrival of the precursor system to Cyclone Mora, causing flooding and landslides throughout Sri Lanka during the final week of May 2017. The floods affected 15 districts, killed at least 208 people and left a further 92 people missing. As of 02 June, 677,241 people are affected, while 9,432 houses are partially damaged and another 1,735 houses fully damaged.

RE:Leader Of The Opposition And TNA Members Visit Flood Affected Areas————————————————————————————————————————
Great gesture . Looks like the Leader Of The Opposition And TNA Members represent the people, and not the Govt. of Sirisena, Ranil and the JO -MaRa, all CROOKS and LIARS, who are out of the country on various missions, some state, many on private visits.—————————-Unfortunately most of the people who were killed and affected voted BY THE FLOODS voted for the CROOKS and LIARS, Sirisena, Ranil and the JO -MaRa. — The Paras have such a low IQ that they still do not get it, that they are being screwed by Sirisena, Ranil and the JO -MaRa, all CROOKS and LIARS.

Wow!!! This is the first time I saw something like this. <<<< “Some Lessons seem to have Learnt towards Reconciliation.” <<<< Way to go Mr. Sambandhan and others. Excellent. Thank you. You should have brought some Tamil people too, from the North.—– As I said before elsewhere, I would like to see Reconciliation by way of true human bonding between ethnicities than lifeless meaningless words about Reconciliation in various Reports. <<<<< How about our own Sinhalese politicians? <<<<<< I saw only Wimal Weerawansa, Palitha Thewarapperuma (A big thank you for both of you. Your good heart, love and compassion towards the needy will always be remembered.) and one or two SLFP Ministers helping flood victims while Ranil and Mahinda globe trotting. Over 300 people are dead (200 + 98 missing) while over 75,000 people are still in rescue camps. Lot of people are injured. Many people are still trapped in landslide areas. They need help. —– My heart is weeping for the massive loss of lives and helpless people. Over 50 children are among the dead. I don't know how their families are coping up. Our thoughts are always with them. —— Shame on both of you, heartless Ranil and Mahinda.

The next should be Muslim Politicians. We raise our voice and fist only when you pose a threat to us. Otherwise Sinhalese are proud but good hearted people.<<<< C’mon guys, grab this golden opportunity to mend differences.—— We have no regard for the Diplomatic Intervention. But we will have high regard if you get involved meaningfully with Sinhalese. —— We don’t care whether you bring something to flood victims or not, what matters to us is your noble thought to share the loss, distress and pain. (I wanted to say this before, but my pride prevented me from saying it.)

      • 0
        3

While encouraging Reconciliation, I take this opportunity to stress few points.—– We are vehemently against and do not tolerate any attempt to form a Federal State by way of a new Constitution — War Crimes Tribunal — Implementation of Office of Missing Persons targeting our Tri Forces, although the Act was passed — The Act to legalize ICPPED (The International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance) targeting our Tri Forces — ETCA — Hanuman Bridge — and the involvement or undue intervention of any foreign country, NGO, INGO or Rights Group in forming our National Policies. This is our country. We decide what is best for us.— A handful of Politicians and the PM influenced and manipulated by LTTE Diaspora, the West, India and NGOO have no right to decide the destiny of our country. This Government is already unpopular and people despise them. They should listen to people. Nothing will materialize without the consent of the majority Sinhalese citizenry.

It is sad to see that the Government and Disaster Management Ministry fail to use our tax payers money to offer flood relief to the people and private citizens and companies had to do so!!!

Why has the Disaster Management Ministry failed to follow The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction!!?

If we did so we could have been better prepared for these disasters…

Atleast now will the government make sure The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction is implemented or are we going to wait till the next disaster hits and continue this disastrous and disorganized reactive response instead of a methodical and proactive response.!!?

Bunjappu, right now I am watching a fascinating movie called ‘gifted’ about a 7 year old girl proving the Navier-Stokes theorem in hydraulics. Come later OK.

        • 2
          0

Edwin, I knew nothing about Navier-Stokes Theorem so looked it up. There is Navier-Stokes equations but no theorem as such. (There is Stokes theorem though). From near zero, now I know a little little little bit about Navier-Stokes equation. Your knowledge is less less less than mine. So you were watching a seven year old girl. You say “Come later OK”. Did have that “come”?

            0

Kapillai, Why not watch the movie? Perhaps, it has fictionally elevated the equation to a theorem. Of course, the personalities are all fictional. It has scored 7.8 stars out of 10 in the movie database. Worth watching even if you have no interest in maths. You can take the lead. I have no competition with anyone in knowledge.

      Jim
You must see a psychiatrist and something is radically wrong with you. You are a frustrated person and that is why you think ill of all. You might have had a bad childhood that I my guess. People like you never prosper, who always find fault on other for their own mistakes. It is accepting ones mistakes that give a golden opportunity to improve and is the first step towards self progress. The habit of denying and blaming others for their own blunders leads one to stagnate for ever in the pit hole they are in.

              Jim Shitty the numb nut of Hambantota, here you go;

The name James: The first was Saint James the Greater, the apostle John’s brother, who was beheaded under Herod Agrippa in the Book of Acts. The second was James the Lesser, son of Alphaeus. Another James (known as James the Just) is also mentioned in the Bible as being the brother of Jesus.

I hope this is not too difficult for your dull mind to understand. Sad fellow, you have no hope. You are difficult project and a lost cause.

Shrikharan, when a dog (jim shitty) barks at the moon every night, the moon does not disappear. It stays where it was the next and the next and the next………night. Also have you ever seen an alsation barking at the moon? It is always a stray mutt which does that. Therefore, jimshitty is a stray mutt which keeps barking in the dark. Some nights it will howl and some nights it will bark. Who gives a sh*t about this mixed bred buffoon. A shrink will not waste his time on this fool.

Opposition party who earnestly votes for government budgets without a question is visiting the flood area. Visiting the flood is a humanitarian, right thing to do, but how about voting for government budgets which never took care of these environmental matters? Did Sampanthar confess to the victims that because of his surrender to Yahapalanaya by his wrong promise to Tamils with his secret solution from the government, he too is a co-conspirator of these “human neglect induced disasters”? If not how is this is a right thing to stand for photo ops with government guys?
We all, the other human beings, do only two things, right and wrong. But Opposition party leader Sampanthar does three. 1) The right, we all strive to do in the first place, given the circumstances are normal. 2) The wrong, we all end up at it as we are human beings, limited with capacity and resources. 3) This one normally no other uncorrupted human being does; specially immoral, unethical and un-dutiful to try while holding an opposition party status: that is pleasing the Yahapalanaya. Hopefully Sampanthar didn’t do this as his third type of action, but did it as the first type; which comes out as the perception of TNA is a standalone party, not a Yahapalanaya’s Jaffna, Batticaloa branch.

A hunter saw the foot of Krishna coming out of bushes and assuming it to be a deer , shot it down with an arrow . Thus Krishna succumbed to his arrow , Gandhari’s curse had acted , and his soul returned to Vaikuntha.

Every dark cloud has a silver lining. If this “Flood Disaster” brought some SENSE into the Official Opposition the need to get involved in National Issues sans communal ideology, this involvement is very welcome. Mr. Sampanthan and others in TNA consider this a wake up call. Where is Mr. Wigneswaran – the Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council? Did Mr. Senadhiraja has a “Premonition” in ordering the Army to vacate the North within three months, so that those personnel could very well be deployed to assist in the flood relief work in the South?

Douglas… not just that – the grants offered by various countries even if our folks have always been no grateful to them,… that will be bless if they the authoriteis would well manage to flow them to the need who are really in need.
Rajapakshe are proved to have grab over 5000 million dollars from the Tsunam donations, even today, no the state has investigated it properly. Even former CJ that ballige Putha Sarath De Silva, made his correction, confriming publicly that MR should not have been set free by the embezzelment case.

Mr. Sampanthan, next time I visit Sri Lanka I will bring a 2 dozen or so Arduinos and teach some Tamil children in the North of your choosing how to program them. Last year I had such a one day session at the Matugama temple for the village kids who had never before even seen a microprocessor. We divided them in to two groups, boys and girls and the girls won with a big margin. Sabba Danan Dhamma Danan Jinathi. (Of all givings, giving of knowledge is the most noble).

You mean for the CKD? Water purifiers also would be a good idea. Today I received a test kit for metals in water or urine from a Co. called Osumex in UK. But it is quite expensive and is for one sample only. May be there are multi-sample test kits.

        • 1
          0

Yeah… CKD remains unknown. Anyways, chelat complexs of glyphosat and heavy metals (Cd, Fe, As or any others) may most likely cause the damage of the cortex of kidneys. But some that have been mad at their theories, believe and make believed others that, Natha Dewiyos should have affected on unknown chronic kideny disease in that part of the island.

I do not believe in divine interventions of that kind. Seriously though, since you guys are in pharmaceutical business, can you suggest an economic way of testing? I plan to use the kit I got for testing rice. I will soak in water, several varieties of rice available in Saudi and test the water with this kit. Bangladesh rice followed by Sri Lanka rice is supposed to have the highest concentrations of Cadmium.

              0

Good that you seem tobe well alert on that.
But it is no easy you to check on the rice or any other cereals that way, best to buy organic food, if youa re that cautious
We the onces living in Europe have no such barriers,we can buy the best we think is right. And German, Swiss are well experts to block any kindof false food import into the country by applying their LMBG the like of national laws. THe law is implemented on them to the letter. I love it. Just I love it.
Lately, I happened to travel to UK, those shop keepers of low grade, wrap up their food items using old new papers. Like it is very common in SRILANKA u may know it. But in lanken context, it is a poor country, but I wonder why UK people allow the kind of OLD papers to be used for wraping. They seem to have no proper law and order in terms of small shop keepers that have been run mostly by migrants in LONDON (srilankens, pakis, indians, or the like).

To tell you, it is right you to stand against about divine interventions, but Natha God -well known so called prof of lankan extremism – Prof. Nalin De Silva is the person to go after them. Just becasue some researchers failed to find Arsenic in their samples held initially in searching for the contaminants.

    Mr. Sambandan

This action will not whitewash your utter failure as leader of the opposition. you could have asked for parliament debate on this issue and questioned government of its failures and future actions. and emergency relief. you could have raised very important issues like children’s schooling, reconstruction of houses destroyed. welfare of affected people. distribution of few bags of dry rations will not solved the issue. people need facilities to cook them and eat. have you looked into those aspects. forced government to provide those facilities. even people lost all the equipments even plates. have you thought about those issues.

Samuel Jayaweera: Good proposal. It is not only the foreign donations, but the monies received from the “Re-Insurance” of the Government “Insurance” on disaster must be pooled into one Fund and managed by a Parliamentary Committee comprising of MPs from all the political parties and subjected to an :Audit by the Auditor General. ranjith (sprrw).: Already the JVP had asked for one day “Debate” on this matter of flood. This “Debate” is a wrong word and that should be a “Forum Discussion” in the open House, because all these members sitting there misconstrue what is to be done; but start a mud slinging campaign. At the end nothing happens for the good of the country. Therefore it must be a “Forum Discussion” of the Parliament through which a long term action plan could be evolved and agreed for immediate implementation. I am certain that type of “Discussion” instead of a “Debate” would bring about united action in matters of this nature.

    Dear Author and all Participants,
This is exactly what the Tamil leaders of the North and East were asking the Governments from 1940, to live friendly with equal rights with the Sinhalese. But Alas, the Sinhalese leaders stopped with just seductive talk and cheated Tamils all along followed with Tamil leaders sathiyagraha. All Sri Lankans today know all that happened to the Tamils until the last Nanthikadal massacre. The history of Sri Lanka after independence brought the Country down fast from a top prestigious position down to a lowest paraya status! It is so sad for the people of Sri Lanka but the politicians still enjoy all perks and benefits without any feeling for the voters. They even happily swindle most of the assistance sent from neighboring and other Countries for the recovery of disaster. Now at last it has come to light people should get together and discard bad politics from Sri Lanka for the sake of everybody. Please don’t fall prey again for politicians.
