For a second time in a little over a week, the CID summoned another ex-IGP to record a statement over the assassination of Sunday Leader Founder Editor Lasantha Wickrematunge.
Balasuriya
Former IGP Mahinda Balasuriya was summoned to the CID today morning to give a statement over the killing.
Last week, the CID summoned ex- IGP Jayantha Wickramaratne, along with ex-DIGs Prasanna Nanayakkara and Chandra Wakishta for statements. The questioning mainly centered around the notebook of Wickrematunge’s that went missing while it was in police custody. The notebook had reportedly contained the license numbers of vehicles that had been following the editor before he was killed.
Sargent Major Premananda Udalagama attached to the Army Intelligence Unit is currently in remand custody, over the murder of Wickrematunge.
