The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) summoned ex- IGP Jayantha Wickramaratne, ex-DIGs Prasanna Nanayakkara and Chandra Wakishta this week for questioning over the assassination of Sunday Leader founding editor Lasantha Wickrematunge.
Ex- IGP Jayantha Wickramaratne
The questioning had centered around the missing notebook of Wickrematunge, which went missing while in police custody. The notebook had reportedly contained numbers of vehicles that had been following Wickrematunge prior to his assassination.
During an earlier questioning, ex-IGP Wickramaratne had claimed that he had no knowledge about the notebook, although it is believed that during former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s term, several attempts were made to suppress the investigation.
Last week, the CID arrested a Sergeant Major attached to the Army Intelligence Unit in connection to the murder. He is currently in remand.

This man Wickremaratne and Gota are mango friends and did gota’s dirty work.Immediately after Wickremaratne retired as IG, Gota appointed him as Additional Secretary in the Defence Ministry to continue doing the dirty work.Wickremaratne and and the other murderer ex DIG Prasanna Nanayakara were extremely close in the police.
Nanayakara would have gone to jail if not for Wickremaratna helping him in a big timber racket in which he made millions of rupees.With part of that loot he purchased a valuable land land and built a luxury house worth millions at Fairfield Gardens in Borella.He gave a good amount to Wickremaratna for his help.Nanayakara has also brought a 50 acre tea estate in his daughter’s name. The daughter lives in Australia and went to Monash University and her education and accomadation in Melbourene was paid by the father costing millions.How can a police man even a DIG pay this amount of cash without robbing?.He has also bought two luxury houses in the most expensive area of Toorak in Melbourne spending millions of dollars.Nanayakara was DIG Mount Lavinia and his kappan work is well known among the business people of that area.He was DIG in this police division when Lasnatha was murdered.
Police Deapartment should be happy that it’s good name that was ruined by murderers and theives like Wickremaratne and Nanayakara is been saved by this investigation.

Prasanna Nanayakara former DIG Mount Lavinia involved in this case is one of the biggest crooks and murederers.He is famous in the police for these things.With all his robbery and bribe taking he today lives in a super luxury house in Fairfield Gardens , off Cotta Road in Borella Colombo 8.Even he is retired he still has a “No Parking” sign on both sides of his luxury house and does not allow any one to park in front of his luxury house even though this is a public road.Think then the power this buggier would have had when he was in the police.His house is in the new section of Fairfield Gardens in Borella, two houses before the last house on the right hand side of the second by lane of Fairfield Gardens.( when you come from Borella junction side)

The Sri Lankan police is corrupt to the core. From top to bottom all take bribes. Traders are compelled to give a monthly contribution to the cops to be free from police harassment. If there is one person who knew the killers of Lasantha Wickrematunga, it is Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. When the BBC correspondent asked GR who killed Lasantha, GR answered angrily raising voice that anyone would have killed him because he created many enemies by writing against them. During the time as defense secretary GR was the lord of all monarch. He never thought nemesis will catch up with him so soon.
