Hamas’ coordinated rocket attack on Israel, which killed hundreds of Israeli citizens and brought a new Palestine–Israel War is another chapter in the history and expansion of the Zionist settler state. To start with, this war is not a Hamas-Israel War or Gaza-Israel War as deliberately misnamed for Western propaganda machines. This verbal misnomer is nothing but a calculated ploy to make the world believe that this war has nothing to do with Palestine but everything to do with Hamas, described by the US President as “pure unadulterated evil”, and its Gaza headquarters. The misnaming is part of a long tradition in the West to sanitize the terror that Israel had unleashed over decades in Palestine and now set to unleash in Gaza, and to demonize every act of resistance by Palestinians. Without condoning the rocket attacks or celebrating Israeli deaths, it should be pointed out that so far none of the Western leaders nor any of their media spokesperson had asked the most fundamental question, why did Hamas retaliate in that horrific manner. That horrified act of Palestinian resistance marked the breaking point of a population that was suffocating under Israeli settler cruelties for decades. There are plenty of video footage to show how Palestinians in Gaza including children were killed, how their women violated and stripped naked, how innocents detained without any trial and how systematically Palestinian orchards and farms destroyed by Israeli settlers particularly since the far-right government of Netanyahu came to power. Were those incidents not newsworthy to the Western media? Why were those acts condemnable by Western leaders and their governments? In that situation what does the world expect from Gazans to get rid of their torturers and get out of their open prison? If Ukrainian armed resistance against Russian aggression could be supported and blessed with money and weapons by NATO, what logic justifies the condemnation of Palestinian resistance and dubbing it as terrorism against Israeli aggression? Terrorists and terrorism are jargons used at convenience to suit conflicting objectives. Wasn’t it Ronald Regan who called the Taliban freedom fighters when it joined US soldiers to chase out the Soviet forces from Afghanistan? But when the same Taliban turned against America and wanted US forces to get out of Afghanistan, they became terrorists.
Gaza is part of Palestine and Israel’s acts of genocide and scorched earth policy to get rid of Gazans is part of a broader agenda to annex that land with Israel. To be more precise, this is part of Israel’s dream to erase Palestine from the world map with the connivance of US and its Western allies. This war is the continuation of the one started in 1948 with Britain’s duplicity and Gaza is the latest front where that war is continuing. When the war started in 1948 it was the Zionist terror groups like Irgun that killed innocent Arabs and caused the Nakba or Catastrophe in 1948. Wasn’t Irgun that bombed King David Hotel in 1946 and wasn’t Irgun that massacred at least 107 Palestinian Arabs including children in 1948 in Deir Yassin? Wasn’t Israel’s former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin a member of Palmach, the terror unit of Haganah? It was terrorism supported by British imperialism that created Israel and now it is Israeli state-terrorism supported by American imperialism that is on a mission to end Palestine.
Yet, in spite of this imperialist betrayal of the Arab and Muslim world there is no justification to call for the destruction of Israel as some lunatics from that part of the world are crying for. Although controversially, unjustifiably and immorally created Israel today is an internationally recognized state. But, just as Israel has a right to exist so is Palestine and its people. The tragedy of Palestine is that the historic Jewish quest for a homeland, which started with a total lie condensed in a Zionist slogan, “land without people for a people without land” devised and popularized by the Anglo-Jewish writer Israel Zangwill, has turned into a diabolic mission to convert a community with four millennial history and right to that land into to a landless tribe to be forgotten by history. What the world witnessing in Palestine today is an example of an incomparable betrayal and ingratitude in the history of humanity. For centuries, the Jewish community was treated like outcasts by Christian powers and condemned to live like nomads but in ghettoes all over Europe before Hitler came out with his horrific solution to get rid of the Jews whom he described as a “race-tuberculosis of the peoples”. But during that nomadic existence Jews were welcomed, accommodated and allowed to live with dignity under Muslim rule. For example, between the Umayyad conquest of Spain in the 8th century until the expulsion of Jews from there in 1492, the Muslim kingdom created what the Spanish philologist Americo Castro called “Convivencia” where Muslims, Christians and Jews lived in peace and harmony and created what Maria Rosa Menocal called “The Ornament of The World” (Back Bay Books, 2003). In another instance, during the Crusades when Christian armies entered Jerusalem the first people the so-called Holy warriors massacred were the Jews, and that was why the Jews welcomed Saladin when his Muslim soldiers recaptured that Holy City later. In short, what is now happening to the Palestinians is to make them landless and live like nomads and refugees as the Jews lived before Israel was created. And regrettably, one influential group in Christian America believes very strongly that Israel should capture Palestine and rule for Jesus to return.
What is therefore unfolding now is a great conspiracy hatched between the Zionists and Western powers translated into action systematically to expel the Gazans from their land to create Greater Israel. The same fate awaits the West Bank also sometime later. In the meantime, that hackneyed diplomatic mantra of a two-state solution repeated ad infinitum like a broken record by all Western nations including Australia has lost its substance and credibility. No sooner Yasser Arafat agreed to sign that infamous Oslo Accord with Yitzhak Rabin in the presence of US President Bill Clinton, to create what Edward Said described “Bantustan” separating Gaza from the West Bank with Israel in between, the fate of Palestine was sealed. Isn’t it a fact that each time the West initiates a negotiated settlement to the Palestinian problem, it always ends in loss of land to Palestinians and more land to Israel?
After the Popular Front of Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) hijacked an Israeli passenger aircraft in 1968, the late Yasser Arafat was asked by a TV journalist whether PLO wanted to destroy Israel through such acts. Arafat responded that PLO’s entry into Israel would not be direct but through other Arab states. This is the other side of Palestinian tragedy: the incapacity of Arab nations to counter Israeli offensive at least diplomatically if not militarily. Israel through aggressive diplomacy, financial power, intellectual dominance and organized propaganda had captured the hearts and minds of Western nations. In fact, Israel’s diplomacy targets not only to win the support of Western governments but more than that to win the sympathy of Western masses. In contrast, the financially rich Arab nations seem to believe that if they could invite the Western leaders, entertain them and hug and kiss them they would win western support at least to Arab if not Muslim causes. While Israel’s diplomacy has a bottom-up approach Arabs believe in top-down access. When one adds to this contrast the vast gap between Jewish and Arab contributions to modernity one can understand why the Arab world doesn’t carry any weight and command respect in the international arena. Arabs have lost their international leadership, power and influence soon after Europe was awakened from its slumber. This is a vast subject that cannot be discussed in a few sentences. But today’s Palestinian tragedy is an essential part of this historic decline.
The time has come at least to the UN to put its foot down and ask Israel to get out of Gaza and allow its people to live in peace. Condemn as much as it wants to the violence of Hamas, but understand at the same time the mindset that drove those fighters to act so vengefully and cruelly. Even a cat is chased to a corner and trapped it will have no other alternative but to jump at the chaser. No one even with an iota of humanity should celebrate the death of innocent Jews or Arabs or any human being. Palestinians need sympathy with justice. Let the West stop sanitizing Israeli horror and demonizing Palestinian resistance.

The above two are the sample scheduled flights from Hangbangtota Paddy Warehouse and Jaffna International (Indian flights) Airports. The Hangbangtota Paddy warehouse is a Chinese built $800M facility. Jaffna one is a property stolen land from Tamils, with the excuse of irradiating LTTE. India has offered many times to build, if not a modern facility like the Mahinda Paddy Warehouse Airport, a moderate airport with 1400-meter runway where Airbus Jets can land. But while Evil went to America and EU to pull off his underwear and beg for loans, he is choking the Indian projects in Palali.
Today the media is reporting he is pleading for Chinese Investors to come and invest in Langkang. Still there is no honest process to restart to pay the stopped loan installments. Huawei, which was forced to close its facilities because of spying practices, is invited to fund Universities. For a long time Western Universities have been asking to open their facilities here in Ceylon. The world famous IIT is one of them. But Evil is leasing a building, which is on stolen land taken over by the Rapist Army, to Southern University. An ousted Governor, because of protest for her anti-Tamils racism, is now in East with her security entourage, to rebuild a dismantled Buddhist facility during her time, only to create troubles for the new Tamil Governor. IMF Loans?

Hey Sonali,
Watch (in the latter half of the clip) the Sinhala Buddhism in one of its proud, prime Jihad-ism – Rowdyism. Police used Sinhala rowdies to pull out & beat Jaffna MP from the truck he was traveling during a memorial observation parade. But this bald head rowdy is freely allowed for years to create this type havoc & chaos in Tamils area. The donkey is destroying the peace of the Tamil peasants in that area, after all he is the chief Mangalarama Vihahara, the second largest Tamil city in Ceylon. What does he do to the people (or with the people) inside the Vihara, anyway? Do you know that, as a Sinhalese, in Langkang? If he opens his mouth the one that comes out his mouth is not any language, not even filthy part of Sinhala, but the cesspool of sewage.
Is the woman Governor comfortable with the language he uses? Did she go to any schools where civilized teachers, who watched the western type media, teach?
How can Buddhism be clean but refusing to clean the dirt (rather promoting using a governor, after all she too is a woman) like this?
Do you have any comments on this?
(If you had come across this clip from a Sinhala or English media, I would appreciate you bringing it here.)
Thank you.

Ameer Ali is lying, those of us schooled and conditioned by Western media, which dominates Sri Lanka media, will claim. It is near impossible to change our mindset once habituated. Ameer Ali tells it as it is for those who make the effort to find out what is really happening. Israel is visiting on the Palestinians the holocaust it claims happened to Jews. We have been forced to read and re-read about the supposed slaughter of Jews on a mass scale. So now we are asked to see as right the expulsion and slaughter of Palestinians from their lands.
/
Siva Sankaran Sharma / October 18, 2023
The holocaust of the Jews and other peoples like the European Gypsies by the Nazis, during the second world war a crime and so is the killing of innocent Israeli civilians by Hamas and the expulsion, confiscation of land and dispossession of innocent Palestinian Arabs and native Eelam or Sri Lankan Tamils by the Israeli and the Sri Lankan state from their lands. They should all be condemned. They are all crimes. We cannot condemn one or the other and remain silent or condone the others. Just because it clashes with our political views or we hate, do not care, identify or are indifferent to plight of one of these groups and cannot identify ourselves with their plight, due to political, racial/ethnic or religious or whatever personal prejudices we have. They are all crimes. All these people are fellow humans.

You are dealing with a lot of bigotry,
Do you mean anti-Tamil bigotry? Is it that when you digress from points and attack people, she doesn’t bother but is too bothered when I write what was going on in Langkang? What was the bigotry you saw in the passage I wrote? Do you think Anuradha Sumana & Thero putting in Tamils private land is a lawful land after the country’s president had told the police to get them out of there? What is she doing there after she was let go because she is an extreme racist SLFP, Slap party clan? Provincial Councils were created by Tamils to rule their section. What kind of business Anuradha Yahampath, Rohitha Bogollagama, M. L. A. M. Hizbullah….. like people have in Tamils’ provincial government? Hizbullah openly said if Tamils get what they want in the provincial government he would make Tamils blood flow in East and North? He forcefully took Tamils Temple Land, demolished, built a Mosque and Market and then asked Tamil politicians what can they do about it?
Some lame duck, Slap Party- SLFP, Solomon Family back washing, anti-Tamils excusists only make shame for the school that gave them PhD, but they have no capacity to talk on any point!

/
Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam / October 19, 2023
Please state facts correctly. Condoning Israel aggression and condemning Palestinian resistance is as wrong as condoning Muslim aggression and condemning Israeli resistance. Both Israel and Pakistan were created at the same time and on the same principle. one cannot be right and another wrong. While Hindus accepted Pakistan for sake of peace, Muslims did not accept Israel and went to war to destroy it. Muslims thought that a new sate few days old will be weak and they could run over. Sadly their calculation misfired with a small brave nation able to defeat a bunch of Islamic thugs. Therefore it was Muslims who were aggressors and Israel the resistors. Muslims always have double standards. Arabs tried twice again an failed both in the process Israel becoming bigger and stronger. Therefore it is the Muslims who are to blame for the current state.
/
Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam / October 19, 2023
Present war is an attempt by Iran to destroy Israel using Hamas and Hisbullah as proxies, and not a conflict between Jews and Palestinians as what the author is trying to make out. Israel came into existence according to Biblical prophesy and thus has divine protection. This time Palestinians will lose Gaza as well. Hindus were murdered and driven out of Pakistan after Pakistan was created and the refugees were accommodated in India. Similarly Palestinians were made refugees should have been settled in surrounding Muslim countries without keeping them in camps. Now there are suggestions in Pakistan social media of starting war with India, some saying similar to Hamas attack while few want atom bombs dropped on India. This is going to be the downfall of Islam with possibility of holocaust against Muslims in Europe.

Divine help will come to Tamils very soon. It came in 1987 and Prabaharan botched it. Refer to stone inscription in Trincomalee which says that what started by Kulakotan will be usurped by others and after sometime will come back to Vadugar. Who are these Vadugars, are they northern Tamils, Telugus or north Indians. If world war breaks out India will occupy Srilanka and Maldives to counter Chinese in Indian Ocean. They will not go away until they are sure that these countries will never ever be security threat. India will empower not only Ceylon Tamils but also Upcountry Tamis to take control. When I was canvassing Indian businessmen for the construction of Jaffna metro, I was told that India will take over north first and then east and develop the areas. It will be quicker if world war breaks out.

Dear Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam,
.
Here you say this:
.
“Divine help will come to Tamils very soon.”
.
This comment of mine will carry a later date than those that I submitted about two hours ago. After doing so, I heard this:

Exquisitely played no doubt, but why does Janine Jansen always push herself forward without even acknowledging the role of the conductor who has been identified by a listener as

.
and that same reader has identified the orchestra as the Japanese NHK Symphony Orchestra. You see, bluff, double bluff, and then triple bluff. Therefore, Gnana, I don’t subscribe to your notion of “Divine help“. You rightly scorn the Buddhist claim of gods because Gautama himself emphasised that “The Dharma” is only the product of a human mind, but now you, a Hindu, invoke the assistance of “Divine forces“. I hope that the contradictions are clear!
.
Never mind all that! My best wishes to you. Most of this confusion is clear to other readers, and now it’s come full circle, as we have to do if we can actually read this book:

“According to whose prophesy are Tamils suffering in Sri Lanka? “
Mahanama!
Mahanama, the Telugu immigrant, ran out of TN to Langkang, when their religious war flared up.
Buddha is flying back in 2500 years to see how the people he colonized in Langkang, ousting the original people using the natural forces like thunder, lightning, and flood, are doing.
But if the bankruptcy UNP-SLFP created is not burning the country, the atomic war the Sinhala Intellectuals (Viyathmaha) creating with their Nariya Games among the superpowers seems to be going to sink the whole land well underneath the sea, soon. It is scientifically predicted that if Langkang sinks, North India will rise up (around Himalaya). That is the scene Mr. Modi keeps saying that he sees in his dreams, frequently. And that is why MR. Evil is now in China to get the help to sink India first.

This is probably a genuine question that you’ve asked. Dr Sankaralingam is a Medical Doctor, probably in his late seventies. He’s a good man, but he’s difficult to deal with:
.
https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/parameters-to-be-adopted-by-tamil-politicians-in-negotiations/
.
Please note that I have made no comments on that article of his. The problem is that he had been educated at Royal College and is obsessed with a handful of “superior” schools. He trots out statistics that Tamil students performed better than the Sinhalese because they were genetically superior. I’ve told him that Tamil students worked harder, that’s why the better results – and we respect them for that.
.
“Standardization” was unfair by Tamils, but even when we grant that he won’t smile. He’s got some sad obsessions.

Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam / October 20, 2023
Do you want one to believe nonsense like Buddha making three flying visit to Srilanka or Mohamed going to heaven in a chariot from Jerusalem. Analyse the way how Israel came into being. Ottoman empire was firmly in place controlling Palastine, and will never allow Israel to be created. So Turks have to be driven out, and this happened in first world war. Palestine came into the hands of British. Though Jews campaigned British never relented to create Israel. In the second world Turks tried to capture Palestine and failed miserably. Had Turks won, there would not have been Israel. Here again God helped the Jews. Finally British agreed to create Israel. Do you not think that these were miracles. Problem will be solved if Al Aqsa mosque is destroyed.
/
Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam / October 20, 2023
Panini Edirisinghe AKA Sinhala man, I never said that Tamils performed better because they were genetically superior. What I said was though there were brilliant Sinhala students in the class, Tamils performed better overall because they were hard working. It has been proved that Tamils and Sinhalese are genetically same, which makes any claim of genetic superiority not tenable. I am forthright and will not hesitate to call a spade a spade. I was given secular values at Royal from childhood, to respect other religions and cultures. I believe that justice should be meted to all and law should be equal. In a forum I suggested that this problem should be settled on first nation principle, that all lands which Jews can prove archaeologically should be assigned to them and that they should vacate all other lands despite shedding sweat and blood to develop them. This was acclaimed as the best solution so far proposed which cannot be contested. What more do you say about my sad obsessions.

Recently the “mother of all Kaputas” MR visited Palestinian Embassy to show Lanka’s support and solidarity with those affected people. Lankans showing solidarity is nothing but comical. In this article, when words are replaced SB as Israelis and minority Tamils (soon Muslims) as Palestinians , you get a true picture of SHAM LANKA. Kill your own and stand in support with those affected elsewhere. Irony is that Israel, Ukraine, Russia, U.S , Islamic Organization ………. were together with Lanka in cleaning Tamils. Now Palestinians are facing their Mullivaikal / Nandikadal and MR is standing in solidarity with them (photo opp).

Ameer Ali, both Israel and Hamas are guilty of committing serious crimes. The real victims are those Palestinians. Hamas indiscriminately attacked, killed and abducted hundreds of foreigners who are neither Israelis nor Palestinians.( just like Easter Mayhem) .Hamas may have been elected to govern but that doesn’t mean they represent every Palestinian suffering out there. Hamas and Hizbullah are militant outfits involved in activities (including collecting funds ) not just in Palestine but many other countries in turmoil. Last but not least, is there anything Isreal committed, that we Lankans haven’t heard or seen in our own country, like no other.

For Muslim’s death of Tamil civilians mostly women and children were collateral deaths, most other than Sinhalese that worked for the military intelligence were Muslims they sacrificed innocent people for a quick buck this is one reason LTTE threw them out of the north.

Your word on many matters (not on China!) caries great weight. Ameer belongs to that breed (hopefully not “vanishing breed”) of liberal thinkers whose thoughts were valued by our society.

May that balance be soon restored. I’m learning more and more about Ameer and his family. His father, Abdul Cader Lebbe, had been quit a scholar, and had translated this work into Tamil:

Many think of everything Islamic/Arabic as “Kill-Joys”. Very wrong.

Why don’t others add their thoughts on it? Logical thinking should be the way to go. If it is lacking or they cannot be taught, the nation remains unchanged in the depths to which they have fallen. No matter how educated people are, the mentality of fallen our people is the same. What they have in common is Sri Lankan culture and tradition and upbringing. ” ploy to make the world believe that this war has nothing to do with Palestine but everything to do with Hamas, “ Mohamed Abbas said Hamas is not part of Palestine. Now my question, who is the true representative of Palestinians, 1). Dr. Amir Ali. 2). Hamas. 3) Mohamed Abbas?
“why did Hamas retaliate in that horrific manner “
Hamas did not retaliate. If so, why did it take 37 foreign nationals from Israel as hostages. That retaliation against whose and what action? Why has it not been released even after it had accepted the fact & has foreign nationals, and given a list ICRC? Hamas is ” “pure unadulterated evil”
/
Mallaiyuran / October 18, 2023
1). Ronald Regan who called the Taliban freedom fighters
2). The Taliban turned against America and wanted US forces to get out of Afghanistan.
3). The Taliban is currently having a heinous, despicable government on Afghan people. (Amir dropped fact only to justify Hamas, in his way of convoluted arguments.
Amir like to stand off Taliban as “Taliban is a Taliban is a Taliban” but like to wash and polish Hamas.
Do anybody think all those actions of the Taliban is one action, throughout its lifetime, because Taliban is one name? What is wrong if they are treated as three independent actions? Taliban was treated as a terrorist organization by the USA only after it housed Osama bin Laden (Al-Qaeda) after his attacks on Twin Towers.
“ This war is the continuation of the one started in 1948 “ Israel says it wants to invade Gaza to annihilate Hamas, in this round of fights. Hamas did not exist in 1948.
As a Eelam Tamil, I would guess Palestinians, as a whole, stand to lose more land this time too, like earlier instances. But it is still, on a lot of grounds, a Gazans’ choice to protect the Palestinian by discouraging Israel from entering into Gaza or allow Israel to invade and lose the land but protect Hamas.

I want all to to think. So let me be controversial.

Hamas coming from Gaza killed Israeli citizens. When Israel attacks Gaza in retaliation it is loudly condemned.
It is clear that before 1948 many others ,including majority of Palestinians lived in what is Israel now.In 1948 they attacked the young Jewish State and lost the battle badly.
Jesus was a Jew. Abraham was a Jew. So Jews too have a very long history there. They were expelled by the Romans. It is claimed that Palestinians also are former Jews converted to Islam.
God made the world the faithful say. The whole world is a mess. Everything happens as god wishes and wills say the believers.

Stop distorting the history of Palestine. If Israel existed before 1948, why did the British name the country they colonized British Palestine, not British Israel?
Before the British colonization, Palestine was a part of Ottoman Syria and a 100% Arabic country!
There is absolutely no mention of Israel prior to 1948. However, there was an organization called British-Zionist Federation operating from Great Britain and Ireland since 1899 which campaigned for a Jewish homeland (in Great Britain?).
After conquering Palestine in 1917, the British introduced two mandates; one for Palestine and the other for the British-Zionists to establish a homeland for Jewish on Palestine’s land, presumably to get rid of Zionists from Great Britain. This is the reason for the British Balfour Declaration in 1917. Since then, there were continual Zionist/Jewish migration to Palestine, and, as a result, hostilities began between Arabs and Zionists.
In 1947, the British handed over the complex problem they deliberately created in Palestine to the United Nations.
It is not difficult to resolve the Palestinian Question. But, first things first. Humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and the hostages issue should be dealt with first. A ceasefire is the key to solve both.

That doesn’t diminish, Obscure, or Invalidate the fact ISRAEL existed before the Caliphate and advent of the OTTOMAN empire!!!After all the Islamic Ottomans ruled from Turkey (Istanbul) all these lands and known as Ottoman Empire, including parts of Europe Empires of Greece and Egypt – doesn’t mean that part of the history becomes IRRELEVANT!!!??? I wonder what yr evidence for this is.

Would it be impertinent to ask (I mean, perhaps have already read widely without needing to have more thrust at you) if you know anything of the work of the “new historians” in Israel. All, orginally Jews.
For instance:
(1) “The Invention of the Jewish People,” 2008.
(2) “The Invention of the Land of Israel: From Holy Land to Homeland,” 2012;
both by Tel Aviv University history prof. Shlomo Sand. And
(3) “The Case Against Israel” by Michael Neumann (philosophy prof. in Ontario), 2005. Neumann emphasizes the “fateful Zionist quest” for Jewish sovereignty in Palestine.
These are just a few sources which tackle the validity of the claims made about ‘historic” Israel.

Then there is “The Bible Unearthed: Archaeology’s New Vision of Ancient Israel & The Origin of Its Sacred Texts” by Israel Finkelstein & N A Siberman, 2001.
—
Finkelstein was Director of an Institute of Archaeology at Tel Aviv Univ. & Silberman, director of a similar Inst in Belgium. The book has been described as an “iconoclastic & provocative work”, in which the authors, “leading scholars…draw on recent archaeological research to present a dramatically revised portrait of ancient Israel & its neighbours.”
—
I mention just these few, all fascinating books, which I acquired quite a long time ago, & read. There is so much more on this subject now. If you have a Christian background, you would probably find the last book very interesting.
—
Neumann was from a German Jewish family which suffered under Nazism. His book is particularly useful for an understanding of Zionism. A section headed “The Final Solution” opens: “Zionism was from the start an ill-considered & menacing experiment in ethnic nationalism. Neither history nor religion could justify it. The Jews had no claim to Palestine & no right to found a state there.”

Do you think we got where we are today just out of nothing ?
We invented Democracy just out of nothing ? Whether there is

Water , Air , Sun and Moon and all creatures on earth are the
creation of a Super Natural Force . That is purely a Belief and
not subjected to Rationalism . But this belief did not stop them
from getting more and more advanced in new thinking as a
result of which life became more civilised and more modernised .
All this happened in the same world that believed in a god and
they still attributed all their achievements to gods they believed
in . There were hundreds of gods for them .
Take for example , The Code of Hammurabi , one of the earliest
and perfect written legal codes written 1750 B . C . which started
to shape today’s legal systems . Faith is faith , leave it alone and
it doesn’t have to be matched with Rationalism .

The Israelis have suffered so long in Europe and were/are still desperate. True they took over most of Palestinian land in the most forceful of ways. But most Jews are/were always regretful of how they drove away the Palestinians from their ancient and ancestral properties. Palestinians themselves never really had the skill and aptitude to negotiate peacefully and gain advantages for themselves. They only heaped even more adversity upon themselves by constantly fighting in their old traditional style- eye for an eye ; tooth for a tooth really dumbed them down.
–
But at this time, the average Israeli person, especially the younger ones, wholehearted know their ruthless history towards the Palestinians. Many would like to see peaceful solutions, like freeing up more of the stolen land to especially the Gazareans. However, Israeli political will is quite a different thing. Like Sri Lanka, their politicians are madly power-hungry, and get a huge kick about suppressing the Gazareans for their megalomaniacal glory.

The United States’ and Israel’s callous disregard for human lives is sickening. The latest is their attack (I believe a 1000 kg bomb) on al-Ahli Arab hospital run by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem killing over 500 civilians, including patients, refugees and hospital workers.
At first, the Israeli military spokesperson said that they didn’t deliberately target a hospital. The second official denied. The third official passed the blame on Hamas/Islamic Jihad.
Israeli military officials may not be aware that Sabrina Singh, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary officially confirmed today (17) that the attack was carried out by Israel with the knowledge of the (Pentagon).
When questioned about Israel’s attack on the hospital, she said “We did not put conditions on our Israeli military support”. No wonder Israel attacked mosques, hospitals, food centers, residential buildings and infrastructure. After that, she said they (the US and Israel) are “democracies”!!! The most shocking part of her speech that gave away Israel was, she said “Hamas has a command center (in the hospital)”. She may have thought that it would justify Israel’s brutal bombing of the hospital that housed at least a thousand civilians at the time of the attack. I never knew Hamas operates from a Episcopal Diocese run Baptist hospital!
/
Mallaiyuran / October 18, 2023
I searched for the clip you mention. No avail. Could you attach it here, please?
I cannot deny Hamas didn’t do that as long as you explain it was only retaliation that Hamas started all this by bombing a music festival on a holiday. If I accept your explanation, I have to explain the Hospital parking lot bombing as “Retaliation”. I would rather not accept your explanation, to stay out of killing people and explaining it was only retaliation.
/
Manel Fonseka / October 21, 2023
Hi, Mallaiyuran
I wonder if this is the interview with Sabrina Singh that Champa was citing:
https://www.defense.gov/News/Transcripts/Transcript/Article/3560482/sabrina-singh-deputy-pentagon-press-secretary-holds-a-press-briefing-with-assis/
Sabrina Singh, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary, Holds a Press Briefing With Assistant Secretary Ratner and Admiral Aquilino
Oct. 17, 2023
…During yesterday’s call, the Secretary reiterated that America’s support for Israel’s security remains ironclad…
….We are actively providing additional security assistance to the Israeli Defense Forces. Secretary Austin visited an air base in Israel to see the latest arrival on Friday of security assistance. And our security assistance continues to flow, including munitions, to meet Israel’s urgent needs.
…With that, Secretary Austin issued a prepared to deploy order to approximately 2,000 DOD personnel from a range of units. This directive increases DOD’s ability to respond quickly to the evolving security environment in the Middle East.
…Should the President decide, the United States would be in a position to rapidly deploy additional air defense, security logistics, medical, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and transportation, and additional capabilities into the theater.
….It should be very clear that Hamas is the one putting Palestinians or those in Gaza at great risk. I mean, they are putting their command-and-control units inside hospitals, inside areas where there are innocent civilians.
So, the fact that they’ve set up command centers at these hospitals just shows the brutality that they’re willing to engage on, that they’re willing to use civilians as a way to mask their operations but also to see them as casualties.

Didn’t you see during all those attacks on minorities and innocent people since independence especially between 5th April 1971 to date and LTTE’s retaliation or attacks on Sri Lankan armed forces and civilian?

I know it is hard for you to take but Buddhism has never believed in an imaginary god whose will it is to kill unbelievers. and nor does it or will it ever colonize or dehumanize other people who believe in other things. Buddha himself stood by while his own disciple killed his own clan. That is not to say some people who believe or call themselves Buddhists have not committed crimes. but there is nothing in the religion that will ever justify it. these Abrahamic religions and their believers have killed brutalized millions in the name of their fake religion in the name of civilizing the world. what a freaking joke

“nor does it or will it ever colonize or dehumanize other people who believe in other things. “
Despite your apparently pious devotion to Buddhism, you seem not to have the foggiest notion that the Mahavamsa quotes Arahats as saying that non-Buddhists are not human. Why not read it? Buddhism is a guilty of hypocrisy as any other religion.

The mahavamsa is the chronicle of the Hela or Sinhala people even though it was written by a priest who happened to be a Sinhala. has noting to do with Buddhism, Its a chronicle of the history of the country for a period of time. It is surprising that you dont know this. While the Buddha stood by while his own clan was decimated by his own disciple Sinhalese would never sit by and let that happen , Nor would the Thais Burmese Laotians Viet’s Japanese. . That is a different thing . but the large scale dehumanization and genocide that these Abrahimic (mostly Jeudeo Christians) committed is evident if you travel to South America. . Those people were killed in large numbers and have lost everything . it is shocking to see. . Only place these disgusting humans came even close to succeeding came in the Philippines. who have been left servants of the Spanish and then the Americans. Fasts speak for themselves. Of course it has nothing to do with Buddhism. But the sort of ethno-Buddhism it preaches is what is practiced in the country today. Does the so-called Maha Sangha protest on behalf of anyone but the Sinhalese?
As to the Mahavamsa as a chronicle, it is largely accurate, and it must be accepted that its social attitudes too are accurate, including carrying sacred relics in spears used to kill enemies. As you say, facts speak for themselves. Those who call themselves Buddhists can be as murderous as those who call themselves Christians, Muslims, or whatever. Yes, “disgusting humans”.

Although Japan is able to maintain a very high level of discipline and dignity of life as a shinto domnated Buddhist nation, the reason why Sri Lanka has fallen so far without protecting EVEN basic human rights should be openly discussed.
A nation’s productivity is clearly main tool in any nation’s economic growth. This is the primary wepeon of all countries in the South Asia Pacific region *japan, singapore, indonesia, malaysia, south korea etc* than the generally poorer countries of South Asia *Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Pakistan etc.*.
/
South east Asians have a much higher self-starting power than South Asians when you study their lives closely today. People in those SEA countries work harder than in South Asia. Our youth seeking jobs in Japan and Korea have no choice but to follow strict work guidelines once they enter those countries as labourers.
/
Our people including temple living BUDDHIST MONKS *perhaps except for SAMANTHA BADDA `are generally lazy. They women will do nothing but sit in front of the television in the evening and eat, don’t forget, though a tiny section of the country’s expatriates have become the primary source of foreign exchange earners in this beggar nation today. We usually waste our skills and productivity that could be better used for our advancement. At the same time, they use to point fingers at others.

Factually speaking, Hindu dominated India has the largest poorest population on earth. At least 250 out of 1300 million Indians live without trouble. This means that the vast majority who live below the poverty line, whatever they brag about, highlighting the tiny minorities who drive their economies and other sectors. In fact, not even 5% of Indians are said to be in the software industry, despite being considered the country’s strongest investment sector.

What a joke. I am not a pious Buddhist. I hardly ever go to a temple. I actually do not even pray to anything . I was married to a Catholic woman who passed recently . When I first met her I went to a church with her. After I listened to the Sermon and I heard what the pastor told about other religions I decided to never step in to an abomination of such a place. She passed after a long illness and in her desperation she turned to that fake God. I let her out of compassion to the poor woman . I even went with her to many so called Healing pastors who are dime a dozen in the US. (while very well knowing they were nothing but scam artists) I burnt my bridges with many of my Christian preacher friends and I told them to F off with their garbage. I still dont talk to them and I never will . I have travelled widely in the world and seen all the atrocities committed by these religious fanatics .

A Buddha is not an incarnation of a god/God (as claimed by some Hindu followers). The relationship between a Buddha and his disciples and followers is that of a teacher and student.
.
The liberation of self is the responsibility of one’s own self. Buddhism does not call for an unquestionable blind faith by all Buddhist followers. It places heavy emphasis on self-reliance, self discipline and individual striving [this is not comparable to what u experience in SRILANKA].
.
Taking refuge in The Triple Gems i.e. the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha; does not mean self-surrender or total reliance on an external force or third party for help or salvation. 99% SBs in our country violate real buddhism ☸️.

Dharma (the teachings in Buddhism) exists regardless whether there is a Buddha. Sakyamuni Buddha (as the historical Buddha) discovered and shared the teachings/ universal truths with all sentient beings. He is neither the creator of such teachings nor the prophet of an almighty God to transmit such teachings to others.
.
Especially emphasized in Mahayana Buddhism, all sentient beings have Buddha Nature/ Essence. One can become a Buddha (a supreme enlightened being) in due course if one practises diligently and attains purity of mind (ie absolutely no delusions or afflictions).
.
In Buddhism, the ultimate objective of followers/practitioners is enlightenment and/or liberation from Samsara; rather than to go to a Heaven (or a deva realm in the context of Buddhist cosmology).

The curse is as tormenting today as the punishment of Tantalus. Sinhala Buddhist monks were abused as their propagandists. People are also to blame.

To explain you all, I will illustrate a story from my childhood in my home country. At the left end of the garden at my parents’ house, there was a curry leaves tree *Karapincha * completely tied with parasitic threads. Some of the bird cages gave place to *battichcha and other small birds*. However, this ancient tree was the backbone of the pumpkin plant and also produced some curry leaves for our daily use. And, as times pass by, this tree did not look very healthy.

And just like those parasites killed our curry plant, Rajapakse thugs completely destroyed this nation.

It is an extremely sad event, catastrophe, what happened to the “Al Ahli hospital”. Let me adjust my words to include the other casualties sustained in this incident, So I replace “Al Ahli hospital” with “President Biden’s Peace efforts”. It seems to be a planned attempt, from whichever side did it, not just to kill the people in the Parking lot of the hospital, but in the future to take many sacrifices in the name of religions, in many neighborhoods of the Arab Peninsula. We don’t know whether it was a misfiring or precision bombing, it has already taken many more targets than it was targeted. Beirut is the main witness for it. We Tamils have been during the war that Defense Secretaries bombing defense secretaries too.
Still President Biden must show strength to go forward and hit the target he aimed for.

Mr. Biden may not be aware that Israel has threatened to attack the al-Ahli Arab hospital several times if Palestinians do not evacuate the premises. A significant number of women and children have left the hospital premises, but around a thousand people have been there at the time of Israel’s barbaric bombing. Whitewashing war crimes committed by its allies and partners is a part of US foreign policy.
Israel’s attack on the hospital is a deliberate provocation. Therefore, Arab and Muslim countries and the supporters of Palestine all over the world should remain calm. As I said, this may be the last chance for Palestine to resolve their Question through diplomacy. Violence and riots would not help Palestine.

It is obvious that the US greenlighted Israel massacres in the Gaza Strip ‘under the guise of’ hunting down Hamas.
Right now the Gaza-Israel war is one-sided. Therefore, the US may be looking for Arab/Muslim partners to the Gaza-Israel War, presumably Iran, Syria and Hezbollah. (After serious thought, I concluded that the warning issued by the US, Britain and Germany to Iran and Hezbollah is actually an invitation/provocation to enter the war.) That is why the lightning speed the US provided weapons, war planes, war ships and marines in support of Israel is suspicious.
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have no military to counterattack Israel. Therefore, they are subjected to mass murder which may lead to ethnic cleansing. Then, there was the attack on Gaza hospital. No matter how provocative the situation is, Arab and Muslim countries should remain calm and try to get immediate humanitarian access to the besieged Gaza Strip first, because there is a high chance that the situation may change dramatically, if Israel launches a ground incursion into the Gaza Strip backed by the US. I don’t think they will have a free pass because the “Right to Protect” principle allows other countries to intervene and save Palestinians from Israel’s genocidal incursion.
/
Mallaiyuran / October 18, 2023
Please don’t confuse yourself with the news that is nowhere yet released. Israel had shown from where the rocket started to fly (Gaza), how it was directionless when it was on the air, then after its disappearance on land the parking lot was on fire. The BBC reporters supporting Palestinian side have said they hope the Palestinian side will present their side of the story, but not yet. When Palestinians (Hamas) started this round by sending 7,000 rockets, none of them guided, and they launched an attack on the Holiday time Music party to kidnap and kill people, Israel ended it with bombing a hospital parking lot. Is that too bad? Israel declared all residences (not just Palestinian) out of northern Gaza, waiting yet to invade Gaza. You say Israel vacates the hospital, so they are attacking the hospital? The bomb that went off in the parking lot is way too small to be used by warring countries. No neutral country has so far pointed his finger in Israel, including China. Only a few Arab countries have accused Israel and America defended Israel. Hamas, who has all the evidence in its backyard, should now invite the international reporters to verify the bombed Parking lot. BBC and the British government want to wait for verification. The EU Parliament statement was completely neutral.

Did you even watch any of the news clips related to the Gaza hospital massacre? I watched more than 12. I stand by what I said. It is Israel.
I saw this in a comment section and added a few lines on my own.
.
Israel: “You guys need to evacuate that hospital or you’ll get killed.”
Palestinians: We can’t evacuate the hospital. It is a hospital.”
Then, a powerful bomb hit the hospital.
Israel: “……”
Palestinians: “Allah!”
Israel: “It was the Palestinians.”
Pentagon to Biden: “It was not Israel. It was the other team.”
Biden: “It was the other team. I saw them doing it.”
Bibi to Biden: “Yay!!!! I ordered the remaining 21 hospitals in Northern Gaza to evacuate last week so that it is easy for the other team to blow them accidentally.”
Biden: “ICE CREAM!”
.
I think the Israeli military is in disarray. I don’t think they are happy with what they are doing. They are just following orders from the top. They massacre innocent Palestinians so that their leaders can stay in power.
The good news is, there is water in the Gaza Strip. It is clean water. But only in some places. I hope water is fully restored immediately.

Mine:”Israel declared all residences (not just Palestinian) out of northern Gaza, –but still -waiting yet to invade Gaza. You say Israel –asked to – vacate the hospital, so – that is why – they are attacking the hospital” Could you go through this line and explain your logic? Then why didn’t Israel bomb the entire Northern Gaza, which is a densely populated area? BBC showed the bombed hospital and there were only marks of shrapnel hitting.
It was the Aljazeera relayed a rocket misbehaving in the sky and immediately after that the parking ground was on fire. That is the clip BBC attached to other ground realities and Israel’ military’s ballistic missile coordinates analysis and said there is a chance Israel was correct in its claim.
Can I say, citing Jordan, Westbank and Egypt canceling the proposed meeting with President Biden after he arrived in ME, pointing to the Hospital Bombing, a later issue, so this is a plot of those countries to evade to meet Biden?

Since 2008 and prior to recent hostilities, deaths through violence in occupied Palestinian territory are declared as over 6,400 Arabs and 308 Israelis.
After the Al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital wilful massacre, a few more thousands will be added on the Palestinian side.
Another point of interest. In the recent past the Western media has been telling us that the Russains have been bombing dams and their own people in Russia. Now it seems the Palestinian people are bombing their own hospitals and people. And we have an American half-wit reinforcing that view.

There are a number of such childish and repeat pundits on CT. But the one that gets the biggest prize is someone whose name may echo with “Mallum” – the jumble of greenery that goes with rice and curry. And like “Mallum”, it’s a haphazard mix of unrelated matter. Such pundits never fail to tell us they are educated. Mallum boasts he was schooled in Germany. There is an affinity there: I learned German at the country’s Culture Institute in Colombo 60 years ago. So let me quote some famous German lines which Mallum will appreciate.

Congratulations on your successful attempt at turning CT’s main topic politics into diarrhea journalism. Pouring out an ocean of worthless, inferiority complex, jealous feelings. That is an exact replica of Sinhala Buddhist Siri Ma O’ Aanduwa hiring Bathiudeen to introduce Standardization to prove Sinhala Buddhists are superior, and at last having the country bankrupted without any qualified candidate to run it. Anyway, with that, pompous, irrelevant line, what are you trying to establish by boosting your German punditry, in addition to being unaware of any subject to show off your English punditry? After the horse bolted, what is your point in bragging about your German Education? You have exposed your capacity, closing no path left to reverse that achievement. Lots and lots of heartburn pain & moaning are only exhibited here. Remaining here is only going to increase it but cannot cure it, so better advice is to take more vacation and feel better. We have seen a lot of great souls fixing CT. But CT already has been selected for political discussions, (not for this type Media Editing essays, or lectures in diarrhea journalism) by the Library of Congress. If you want to boast that you know better journalism, why don’t you open a discussion web site, to contribute to your type of Journalism education. Why do you suffer here with your heartburn, diarrhea…and sort of all other illnesses?

Is all your Kavuum cooking of Sinhala Buddhism. Great!
Struggling to figure out without knowing where and why the original user used it here? Let me give a lesson so that you can grow out of your smallness. He spent time writing letters to CT about who should be selected and rewarded and who has to be dismissed and punished. CT steered steady on freedom of expression. Disappointed, he attempted to play silliness (calling Mallum) and hoped to get attention. Then came out with a new trick saying, “there is no humor in CT”. That let all feel sad and sympathize for him, but it didn’t work, anyway. Then he changed the rhetoric to “some people can’t get it”. Because many people have got who he is……no luck! Seeing that is not working he attempted to discount that he doesn’t care about anybody saying anything about him. Yet anything he did, didn’t hide his matching anti-Tamil mentality with yours, to other commentators. So, he is always desperate to look for a Munthanai to hide. Thanks for offering him one this time.

AYATHURAY RAJASINGAM / October 19, 2023
It appears that aggression was by Egypt and not Israel. It’s not just that Israel is oppressing the Palestinian people – it’s the Arab nations as well. If Israel bombards and kills Palestinians, Arab countries force and kill Palestinians to live within the bombardment zone. If Israel is driving the Palestinian people to flee, the Arab world is threatening to stop them from allowing them to flee. The difference between these two sides is that the Palestinians are being killed by Israel as their enemies. But the Arab Nations killed them claiming to be their brothers. Why do neighboring Arab countries not accept Palestinian refugees who are threatened by Israel? Why don’t the neighboring Arab countries accept the Palestinians in Gaza into their territory? What a curse to the Palestinian people.

It must be the Hindutva in the brain working overtime.
/
AYATHURAY RAJASINGAM / October 20, 2023
SJ,
This is not a vivid imagination. It is what the Times of Israel had published. After Hamas, Arab states blame Israel, IDF says analysis shows errant rocket fired by Gazan terror group hit Al-Ahli hospital’s parking lot, but footage showed it appeared to have happened at the hospital’s parking lot, with none of the surrounding buildings sustaining significant damage. Bodies of Palestinians killed by an explosion near the Ahli Arab hospital are gathered in the front yard of the al-Shifa hospital, in Gaza City. Israel said the explosion was caused by a rocket misfire by Palestinian terrorists, denying Hamas claims of an Israeli airstrike. The Israel Defense Forces said it was not behind a blast in the area of a hospital in the Gaza Strip and that instead a misfired rocket launched by Gaza terrorists caused the explosion. Palestinians and much of the Arab world blamed Israel, saying it had struck the medical facility and that hundreds had been killed. Jerusalem was swiftly condemned by Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and others. The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza initially said at least 500 people were killed, a figure that was later amended to between 200 and 300, as reported by AFP. But the vital issue is “Why do neighboring Arab countries not accept Palestinian refugees who are threatened by Israel?

SJ:
It may be difficult to be absolutely sure which side was actually responsible for the blast at the hospital without detailed examination of the site by independent experts, including shrapnel, which is not possible now, but the best available evidence would point to it being a misfired rocket of Hamas which it has cleverly contrived to turn to its advantage by claiming that it was an Israeli attack. As you might be aware, such “own goals” of Hamas are not uncommon and have happened in the past.

Mallaiyuran, I think I left out some of the answer to your ques5tion to Champa. Here it is:
Q: Thanks, Sabrina. I wanted to ask about the hospital bombing. I want to know if there’s any indication that this was an Israeli airstrike that has potentially killed hundreds of Palestinians seeking treatment and shelter there? And if so, does that change the U.S. evaluation of whether or not to send things like JDAMs or other bombs to Israel?
MS. SINGH: Sure. So, I’ve seen the reports of the strike that you’re referring to or the hospital that was hit. I’m aware of the reports but I don’t have anything to offer further at this time. The secretary, as I mentioned, has been in regular contact with Minister Gallant, emphasizing again that in this conflict that the law of war is being upheld. And that’s not only something that’s consistently delivered and in private but also publicly. So, I would just leave it at that. I just don’t have more for you on those reports. ……………
…2
/
Manel Fonseka / October 21, 2023
2…
Q: And just in the past though you’ve seen the pictures, you say yourself that there’s been an attack against a hospital. There is massive hundreds of casualties. So, isn’t there any concern within the Department of Defense that whilst you’re supplying this military assistance, you’re kind of part of it or like you might be military involved in any possible war crimes committed against civilians?
MS. SINGH: So, what I will say is that exactly what you just said, is that we did not put any preconditions on Israel when it comes to using our security assistance. From the beginning, what we have said is that governments like us, our democracies is what separates ourselves from Hamas. …….
Q: I mean you just further to his point you talked about, you know, what separates the U.S. and Israel from Hamas is your democracies. You expect them to follow the rule of law. But Israel has a very long and well documented history of targeting and killing civilians. We saw it earlier this morning when the U.N. said they killed five and now roughly 500 believed to be dead. ……
…3
/
Manel Fonseka / October 21, 2023
3…
SSingh: …….But again, we did not put preconditions on Israel when it came to providing security assistance. We feel that Israel, and democracies like us should follow the law of war and follow the law of war in protecting innocent civilians and directly targeting where these known terrorists are.
Q: And I guess they’re not, is my point. And like just because the command center is in the hospital it’s a war crime to target those, right? So, I guess what I’m saying is like there is evidence that they are not doing what you’re saying they should be doing. Why not then say, okay, we will now put in the restrictions?……..
Q: Along these lines on the law of war, the Israelis have cut off water, fuel, electricity, food to two million people in Gaza. The ICC sees that as a violation of international law, so does the U.N. How does the administration see that? Is that a violation of the law of war by that action?
MS. SINGH: Well, we don’t want to see any innocent civilians without water, power, the necessities that they need to survive.
But I suggest that you go to the site.

The need of the hour is a CEASEFIRE! .
1. UN trucks that carry humanitarian aid cannot enter the Gaza Strip without a ceasefire.
2. Foreign passport holders who are at the Rafah border crossing aren’t able to leave without a ceasefire.
3. Also, this is an excellent opportunity for Hamas to release civilian hostages (may be in batches at least) so that they can get out of the Gaza Strip (?) safely.
Israel has no right to block humanitarian aid. The Israeli Prime Minister is weak. Weak people can’t make strong decisions. Therefore, a powerful country should use its influence to impose a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
Who can declare a ceasefire?
Mr. Joe Biden can easily declare a ceasefire to end the agony of Palestinians. Israel is massacring Palestinians using American weapons sent by Mr. Biden. Therefore, he has the utmost responsibility to command Israel to abide by international laws.

Author: “The time has come at least to the UN to put its foot down and ask Israel to get out of Gaza and allow its people to live in peace.”
Is he serious? With no conditions attached?
Israel will get out of Gaza no sooner Hamas is eliminated or surrender.
If the Gazans want to live in peace, all they have to do is say with one voice to Hamas, “We are going through this suffering because of your unprecedented, barbaric act against Israel on 7 October, about which we were not consulted and to which we didn’t give our consent. Israel will not cease to attack us as long as you are here and in control, so be gone and leave us in peace.” Sadly, that will never happen and even the few Gazans who may hold that view dare not express it for fear of reprisals from their masters Hamas (unlike Israelis, who live in a democracy and can freely express any view).

Reading the comments on this article is like an in-depth study of abject ignorance coupled with stupidity. A brilliant article by Amir Ali, with very substantial content, researched and expressed professionally soon becomes the ground for a cat-fight of shallow-minded keyboard warriors. Most commentators have obviously not read any of the history of the subject, and form opinions wholly based their ignorance, and condemn those who offer balanced, qualified comment. No wonder Sri Lanka is where it is now, wallowing at the bottom of the pit..!

LP: “A brilliant article by Amir Ali, with very substantial content, researched and expressed professionally….”
Yeah, an article that begins “Hamas’ coordinated rocket attack on Israel,” sure promises to be a “brilliant,” “professional” article. What made Hamas’ attack this time different was their incursion into Israel’s southern border on 7 Oct and the barbaric massacre of civilians that followed. “Hamas’ coordinated rocket attack on Israel…” is this writer’s way of glossing over that. This difference is also the reason for Israel’s different response this time.
I have found from experience that as a rule a Muslim writing/speaking in defence of fellow Muslims not “balanced” and this article is no exception.
LP: “Most commentators have obviously not read any of the history of the subject….”
If you do it yourself, you might discover Israel has the best arguments on its side.

Hurray! Hamas has released two hostages, a mother and her daughter, today. I am sure the world was absolutely elated to hear this news. What is remarkable about this news is, it was not a prisoner exchange. Hamas says it was “ a goodwill gesture”. I call it “an act of benevolence that establishes trust and hope”. Western analysts who say it was a PR stunt can go to hell. If they were in hostages’ shoes, do they still say that?
.
After vetoing two draft Security Council Resolutions calling for Humanitarian Pauses in the Gaza Strip, Mr. Biden has intervened to send 20 humanitarian trucks to Gaza. Just 20. This is an insult to Palestinians.
Over 1 million people are displaced due to Israel bombing. Hospitals are inundated with patients. Palestinians need 200 trucks full of humanitarian aid daily. The trucks are already at the Rafah border crossing.

The UNSG and several other international organizations are working day and night to provide much needed aid to Palestine.
At least, “A TWO WEEKS’ CEASEFIRE” in the Gaza Strip is a must as the humanitarian logistics in a war zone is not an easy task.
Together, the Egyptian President and the Jordanian King are doing a commendable job to get the humanitarian aid moving to the Gaza Strip while Turkeye and Iranian Presidents have been pillars of strength to Palestinians from day one of Israeli bombardments. Every human being has a right to life. But, Israeli regimes did not/does not agree that Palestinians have a right to life. Israeli allies and partners condemned Hamas attack and killing Israelis on Israeli soil on October 7, 2023. Why did Hamas retaliate? What made a group of Palestinians take up arms?
The Israelis called the Hamas attack Israel’s 9/11. Have they ever thought how Palestinians endure 9/11 everyday for over 9 decades without any condemnation?
In the meantime, the US allocated billions of dollars in military packages to Israel in support of latter’s attack on UNARMED Palestinians. Look at that.

You have selective amnesia.
How could you forget the “Humanitarian Operation” conducted by the Sri Lanka military from 2006 to 2009 to rescue Tamils from LTTE terrorists?
At the last phase of war, LTTE held over one million Tamils as a human shield. Military rescued them by sacrificing their own lives. Do you remember who looked after over one million Internally Displaced Tamil People? The Sinhalese and Buddhist monks. They collected and donated buses and trains full of cooked meals, medicine, dry rations and clothes to Tamils in the North. Can you name a single Tamil or a Muslim in Colombo or elsewhere or any of their organizations that donate even a packet of rice to the IDPs? There was none! Not a single Tamil even donated blood. It was Sri Lanka’s Military, Buddhist monks and Sinhalese Buddhists from the South who donated blood to the wounded Tamil civilians and LTTE terrorists.
.
Today, Israel is doing what the LTTE did to Tamils in the North and East. They are holding 2.3 million Palestinians as hostages, depriving them of even bare necessities and massacring them while the world is watching silently. I don’t think they can continue for long.
/
Champa / October 22, 2023
Hamas’ revelation that Israel turned down an offer to free two Israeli hostages is shocking but not surprising. Maybe Israel is not happy that the hostages are still alive. On October 10, the Israeli military announced that hostages are not their priority. Israeli hostage families complained that they were abandoned by the government. Even the US and Britain didn’t show any enthusiasm on the hostage issue at first. Until a photo was released, France may not be aware that French nationals are also among hostages. In the meantime, Qatar and Turkeye play an admirable role in hostage negotiations.
As I said before, my fervent hope is Hamas to release all civilian hostages unconditionally. As a rule, priority should be given to families with children, those who are in need of medical care and the elderly. Releasing all hostages at once doesn’t seem practical. We don’t know the ground situation. Besides, safety and security of the hostages should be looked into first.

I don’t have enough information about the nationalities of all hostages. Many countries are trying to identify whether their nationals are among the hostages.
Canada’s Prime Minister has sought the assistance of Qatar to secure Canadian hostages. Canada is home to a large number Muslims who migrated from all over the world. When some Western countries were reluctant to accept Syrian, Afghan and refugees from other Muslim countries, Mr. Trudeau warmly welcomed them into his country. He also maintains an excellent rapport with the Muslim community in Canada.
The world was pleasantly surprised when Hamas released two hostages. The families of the other hostages must also be hoping to see “more miracles to happen”.
Now that the world is relieved to see the humanitarian trucks are rolling into Gaza, I think Hamas can focus on releasing the rest of the hostages, as appropriate.
Remember, “actions speak louder than labels!”.

I debated with myself whether I should write this or not. But, I have a nagging suspicion about two news items.
1. “Israel refused to accept Hamas’ offer to release two Israeli hostages.” Why? Because it is a blow to their ego or is there any other reason? Is there a rescue mission underway?
2. “Humanitarian trucks were rushed and they were not inspected for weapons!”
This is pretty strange given all the conditions laid down by Israel before agreeing to allow humanitarian aid to Gaza. What was in those trucks? A Trojan horse? No, can’t be!
I wrote this additional comment to suggest Hamas to release remaining hostages at their earliest before they get busy. I see all the signs that a larger crisis is looming. It is not fair to let hostages
