What additional barriers are there for RW to retain PM’s post?

      Pon,

I dont think Ranil himself likes to stay in in power, but ballige putha Rajakshe would no tbee easy to remove easily.

Please just listen to what they have to learn from former US prez Obama.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbKu114HSKs

I think it is high time to hang Rajakshes and plan the future of this country. They have been the barrier to this country right at this critical juncture of lanken politics.

Sirisenas will not have no chance to get elected any next elections. People would not elect him, but anyone else. Gotabay and others are born murderers would have no chance either. Minorities would never give them a chance. Those who treats minorities as non-srilankens should be hung by their balls LET alone this time.
I am into SUPPOR minority grievances regardless me being Sinhalaya.
We need to stand against sinhala extremists of any sort be them in robes or lay costumes, we must not give them a chance to rise up again. : War and insurgencies we have had enough not we need to go for the future of country and nation.

I am glad, I was afraid more mp’s would have been bribed by now. I hope Ranil acts wisely and does what is best for the country, even if it means it’s a halt to his ambitions.

      Basnayske,

What is best for the country is to find a president who does constitutional and lawful acts, for which they have taken oaths to defend and adhere.

Sirisena is doing what is best for him personally, just like Mahinda Rajapaksa did, and the country is in peril now.

You mean you want my country.
      No you can’t have it.
Go back to India and demand the Hindians to give your country back, the Southern India.

By the way what is “F888ing”?

At least for now stop day dreaming!!! There is no legal battle for referendum or there are no two options MS has to face!! He clearly said he will never appoint RW as PM again even with 225 MPs approved it. RW has no Sri Lankan rural or middle class support base to convince masses to come forward on streets on his behalf. Only the TNA, JVP & NGO elements will come forward which is less than 5% of the total population. Even the rural JVP members do not want it, but the likes of AKD, BR, SH & few others in the executive committee. That is why they are so scared of going for an election. Even people in the north never raised their voice against this but the LTTE henchmen. You can write hundreds of articles in this website or the papers overwhelmingly support RW. How many Sri Lankans are reading these? In fact ordinary Sri Lankans are happy that RW is no more governing this country. Average people like us have enough day to day issues to look after not make protests in the streets for RW & his high class gang. Does average Sri Lankan whether UNP, SLPP or SLFP want someone back in this prime position as PM of Sri Lanka who used his position helped his friend rob billions of public funds in CB in a day light robbery whether his removal democratic or not?? Does average Sri Lankan want a PM who supports federalism & is willing to give anything with no conditions to TNA which they couldn’t achieve through the war during last 30 years whether his removal democratic or not?? In my view 90% Sri Lankans would say no!!! This is the reality!!! I do not support MR or MS in fact did not vote in 2010/2015 for either of them. However we need a country to live before anything else.

      Shenal,
      .
      “We want our country back…..”
      .
Do you realise that you sound desperate?
      .
Speak for yourself, please. You are one of the thieves; let me name them: My3, about 100 Members of Parliament, and a handful of citizens. You may be able to swell that with another 50K “buth packet” thugs.
      .
I’d say that this is getting boring, but for the fact that I’m worrying about the fact that this is doing lots of harm to our country.
      .
      Why don’t you go home?
      .
I won’t assert more than I know. I want Ranil replaced, but not in the way you tried to. However, I have the gut feeling that the vast majority of Sri Lankans feel the way I do.
      .
The coup that you and your friends tried to bring off has failed – miserably. Blame nobody else for your self-inflicted injuries.

It appears motions of this nature in the ‘House’ do not mean much these days as there is a President and some JOker MP’s who have decided to throw the Constitution and democratic norms into the dustbin and behave like Dictators and bulls in a china shop. In the circumstances, it appears most issues need to be resolved via motions through Courts?

    Well done.

We all back Ranil at this moment. We would not want to respect Rajakashes if people ask to go for election.

We can go for election under a legitimate govt. That can only be made if Ranil would be the PM.

    • 1
      2

      Simon de Silva

There’s no legitimate govt. in SL @ present.

RW isn’t legitimate for 2 reasons

      1. The mandate for him to be the PM ended with MS faction leaving.

      2. President has already sacked him; though the matter is in the courts a person who lost credibility due to bond scam should not be the PM to insult the people.

RW’s supporting majority (UNP MPs) also don’t have that mandate as the gg is no more now) so that majority support for RW is just a farce

MR isn’t legitimate because he’s waiting for court decision.

Both RW & MR must be kept aside as they’re master cheaters in elections.

Because of that we want a legitimate care taker govt. with the leadership for the JVP & a powerful Elections Commissioner to handle the election.

Now, somebody has to tell New King that he has to respect 2015 elections, instead of waiting for Court verdict. Then immediately all lawyers can request the Court to abandon the verdict as pastries has reached a settlement.
New King’s lawyers have been letting him down repeatedly, probably seeking favor or avoiding facing wrath, or both.
British ambassador expressed the seriousness of the case and its importance. The case is against New King, whether it is personally on him or on his Chair. Irrelevant of whether it is in favor or adverse, New King stands to lose something on that.

    Dear UNP, TNA and JVP,

Thank you and congratulations, as this is about the constitution and the unconstitutional acts of Sirisena, despite the fact that he took the oath to defend and safeguard the constitution. To defend and safeguard the constitution and the law has fallen on your shoulders, as President Sirisena has gone mad.

Sirisena is the mad president the late Dr N M Erera presciently predicted in 1978. Sirisena has come under the spell of Mahinda Rajapaksa.

    Anura Kumara Dissanayake

    Well, don’t be too clever.
You will end up a clever dick.
Are you positioning yourself to join the Rajapaksa in case if you are offered a good deal? You can politically justify anything with your ideology.

People know when and where to tell you off.
Is that the electoral mathematics of yours which is more important than democracy that is at stake here? As in the past you may be hoping to form an Electoral Alliance with crook, which may fetch you more MPs however there would be another cost. Remember during your parliamentary hay days Mahinda managed to cut your party down to size once again, NFF was born.

      Native Vedda,

JVP already voted for a NCM against Ranil W months ago, based on his performance, in the opinion of JVP. Months later, they cannot justify voting for a CM for Ranil. On the other hand, they cannot justify voting against the CM, as this will be construed by the insane Sirisena that JVP supports his unconstitutional and unlawful actions. Do, that was the right decision for the JVP.

Way to go guys! To throw their political weight behind their Leader is the rallying call to the troops to face the next election, with confidence to succeed. The unity that has been displayed, despite the many differences of opinion on Party Leadership, has put the Party in good stead for its future. This Party (UNP) has faced many obstacles in the past, and will do so in the future, but being together even under severe strain to serve the nation, is their greatest achievement. Long live the UNP and its loyal legislators.

Why is Gamarala waiting? If you have any self respect, take a bow to the verdict of majority of the house. We knew it was a coup that you initiated. For what? To cut the very hand that fed you, catapulted to Presidency even without becoming a opposition leader or a Prime Minister.

You have brought shame on Mahinda for drag him into your ego centric controversy. For over 47 days you were responsible to taking the country down the precipi and bring disaster after disaster to the economy.

Wake up from your slumber, reverse your stupid decisions, take an apology from the whole country. Then, humbly leave President’s mansion, go back to your routes.

It is time that executive powers be pruned and keep it like when Sir Oliver Goonetileka held the office so gracefully.

Karu Jayasuriya’s parliament shitting at this time is a sheer waste of public money. Passing ‘motions’ to make PUK Hamu PM again only spread stink around Diyawanna Oya.
    =
Why are these noisy minorities (UNP, TNA and the JVP) wait until the court processes are over to see PUK Hamu’s fate?

This is nonsensical display of greed for power by a corrupt, inefficient UNP mob. Hope the Supreme Court will soon put an end their useless waste of public money.

RW is now the person having a majority support in Parliament and Sirisena, whether he likes it or not, has to give him his Premiership. The Constitution does not support the personal preferences of the President. He is duty bound to take cognizance of the majority’s view in Parliament when appointing a Premier. If he doesn’t, that too would be a breach of the Constitution and he will have to answer to that and face the music when his immunity is taken off upon relinquishing duties as President.

Once the dust settles down, and, the misadventure of MS & MR has been proven, Ranil should give way to the younger generation and help to prepare the party to win the next election(s).

009 Ranil Wickramasinghe voted YES for his own confidence motion. What a joke. How sad do you have to be.

Are you serious/ What did you expect? What would you do if you were Ranil? Will YOU vote ‘No’ as a ‘No confidence’ vote on yourself, or will you abstain from voting? What a silly opinion. He MUST of course vote ‘Yes’ to mean he has confidence in his ability to perform his duties as Party Leader.

By the way, every vote counts, and winning can sometimes be by a wafer thin margin – of just one (1) vote. Not so in this case though, which was a overwhelming victory margin, even with JVP abstention. Polite tricks may not be your forte.

TNA has demanded four conditions from RW for voting for the motion.

These are vital for the Tamils and minorities to exist in the future.

Bogus, Fake, unfounded ‘Daily Noise’ reporting. We already know who is behind it. Good try. but people already have lost confidence in government sponsored news media (print and electronic) to tell the truth. They have all been so lopsided, listing heavily to one side, no media independence and always singing praises of the naked Emporer, while throwing mud at the perceived opposition..What for the telling?

      Why?

All depends on whether Maithree’s power to dissolve Parliament which he unquestionably had pre 19A survived the 19A.

In the judgement delivered by the SC on the Constitutionality of 19A, the SC ruled that a SL President has no power to relinquish the powers conferred on him by the Sovereign people (https://www.colombotelegraph.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/SC-SD-4-to-19-of-2015.pdf).

It survives the 19A because no referendum was held.

All these robbers have their wealth in foreign Banks (not Chinese) their children in foreign countries (not China) Some have dual citizenship again not China but shout that country is moving west. But they sell the country to China for paying loan interest.

Mr.Ranil Wikramasinghe, quoted Abraham Lingan quotation of goverment of the people,by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. If so why you swindled millions of money in the bond scam with your associate Mahendran? Is it not the money of the people? If your goverment is for the people why you turned a blind eye towards the problems faced by the tamils? During the last three years, why the lands occupied by the army is not returned back to the owners? why there is no war crime investication?why the political prisioners are not released? there are 256 bodies are excavated in Mannar, including twenty one children, will you punish the perpetrators? At this juncture,i like quote another quotation of Abraham Lingan, you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time. You can fool the TNA,but not all the tamils.

The 117 Mp’s voted because they know the road to corruption is open far and wide.
RW will turn a blind eye to all their corrupt and nefarious activities as long as he can stay in power in the name of Democracy.
It is sad that Sri Lankan voters are dimwits because that is what they are and even if they are reduced to a life of beggary by their politicians they will still continue to vote the very same buggers into power.
The corrupt will survive and the dimwit voters will go to their graves a sad unhappy, unrepentant, unforgivable bloody lot.
Yes ! Sri lanka the lovely, scenic land will one day become prosperous but only after a long bloody struggle , when the shit will be burnt and buried , and the remaining and surviving good people the victors ( may God give them grace ) will build a strong foundation on top of the graves of the shit .
