Let’s Build a Left and Trade Union Platform against Racism

The United Socialist Party wishes to thank all those Left Parties,  Trade Unions and individuals who extended  solidarity to us at the time of the launch of our initiative ‘Socialist peace March against Racism & Communilism’. We also thank all left parties who organised the press conference to condemn the brutal attack on USP Motor cycle  march on 26th July. And USP is greatful to all those who showed us the sympathy and support to us after we were attacked and ambushed by the “Sinhala Ravaya and other extremist” thugs in Buddhist religious robes.

The initiative ‘Socialist peace March against Racism & Communal ism’ of the USP was to highlight the growing tendency of racism and religious fundamentalism in our country. The communalists who advocate majoritarianism are hounding the religious and ethnic minorities causing enormous damage to the unity of the people in this country. The USP through this initiative of peace march attempted to spread the message of unity and peace across the country including the villages

monks_fighting colombo telegraphWe the Socialists and Left forces irrespective of the party flag and identities stand for a peaceful, united country where all religions, languages and ethnic minorities can live in harmony with full dignity as equals. Hence to decry the growing attacks both physical and ideological on these values of our society, we the USP launched the initiative marching against racism through a Motor Cycle Rally to Aluthgama-Dharga town from Colombo-Narahenpita..

Though it was symbolic, we wanted to send a message of confidence to those vulnerable section in our society that there are forces to defend their interests in this country. But the communalists such as Bodu Bala Sena, Ravana Balaya and others can not digest this move for unity, they want to play the cancerous politics of sectarianism, and further push this country to a bloodbath by their murderous activities.

While we condemn this gruesome attack the initiative of ‘Socialist peace March against Racism & Communalism’, we feel it is a challenge that has to be met by all of us on the side of the left. ‘An Injury to One, is an Injury to All’, we call upon the left in general, Trade Unions, Socialist Parties, Groups, (big and Small ) to come together along with all other progressive sections of our country  to form a united platform of ‘Left & Socialists against Racism in Sri Lanka”and take on the challenge posed by the communalists and religious fundamentalists in this country.

    Siritunga Jayasuriya,

I wish you success in your noble venture, but will keep my fingers crossed:

For 66 years the Sinhalese community was not able to vote significant numbers of leftists to the parliament.

    Will they do it now?

      Siritunga Jayasuriya –

RE: Confronting Extremist Thugs In Buddhist Religious Robes

      Let’s see.
      1. Are They Buddhist Monks?Or are they Mara Monks? Or, are they Devadatta Monks?

They are known as Sinhala “Buddhist” Monks. They are known for their Racism, and Chauvinism.

What fraction of the Sinhala “Buddhist” Monks fall into this category?

So, the question to ask is can one describe Sinhala Buddhism as Fake Buddhism?

There is ample data to support it starting from para-Monk Mahanama of 6th Century and the subsequent events.

So Sinhala Buddhism has more in common with Fake Buddhism, Racism and Chauvinism.

Have you ever wondered why there are hardly any Tamil Buddhists in Lanka, the Land of Native Veddah, whereas in India, every state has a few percent Buddhists? Is it because Sinhala Buddhism is FAKE BUDDHISM?

    Siritunga Jayasuriya,

Ever since independence, both UNP and SLFP who governed Sri Lanka exploited majority Sinhala Buddhists by promoting Buddhism on all aspects of Governing and daily lives.

President MR today has climaxed it, exploiting Buddhist Racism to stay in power. You could watch his behaviour on daily TV, Radio and press.

At the same time he promotes Cocain, ethenol, gambling, bars, race by race and casinos. This is a double game.

Also this Racial and religious riots could lead to another 1983 Progrom.

Therefore Mr.Jayasuriya you and your United Socialist Party should make an extra effort to unite and educate all communities on the dangers of these Buddhist Racist instigated communal riots and to save our country from another catestrophe.

This is very dangerous where the extremists are very powerful. Therefore please take quick actions to subdue this anarchy waiting to happen.

Also please work with oher Political parties, trade unions, peace activists, religious groups, media centers to send a united and peaceful message to the masses.

Do not allow Politicians and yellow robe wearing Buddhist thugs to exploit Buddhism to intimidate other religions.

    Thank you.

The photo is great. If the background can be doctored and only the three monks are left on the photo it can easily pass as creation of life from the ribs of the monk in the middle …..a painting by Michael Angelo

No no no. No way. Do they even have a semblance of being ‘monks’? More apt to call them [Edited out]

I apologize to CT editor for using that edited out Sinhala ‘compound’ word. CT is right, such words should not be used however deserving the target(s) is. For curious readers let me explain that the components of the word were reference to the continuing degradation by the monster of the [Edited out] What is that word? Yes, you guessed it! These monks truly deserve to be referred to by that compound name, however much political correctness prevents it.

    Siritunga Jayasuriya,

USP should go further and annouce boldly that they will work towards seperation of Government from religion. History has shown that when government and religion mix it almost always ends in widespread injustice. Sri Lanka should move towards true secular governance. Any accomodation of any religion will only spell disaster to the country.

I appeal everybody not to call these thugs as “Cheewaradhari” because it is an insult to “Cheewaraya” as well as Load Buddha who has preached a noble peaceful path of living to people. Let’s call these bloody yellow cloth wearing mercenary thugsas as ” Kahakada Thrasthawadiyo”. (“Kahakada’ to mean “Yelloow Cloth” . Calling the cloth of these rascals as Cheewaraya is a damn insult to Cheewaraya as well as to Buddha.

I wish to apologise to all those I have hurt Tamils and recently Muslims. Thanks to CT for bringing me to my senses by editing me out everytime I tried to put out a Racist Statement. I now realise how important freedom of expression is which we have denied to so many people up to now. Freedom of Expression is a wonderful thing without which man kind will cease to exit. Thanks CT.

Every now and then people like you and pop up try to convey the message together we can change things for the better. But the sad reality is people who think like are a tiny minority and Sinhala Lanka is flooded with born racists headed by MR. Only a gene mutaion will change the Sinhla thinking and nothing else will do.
Sorry my friend if you cant beat them join them so why dont you join them and we will fight our own battle.

      Grandad:

You are definitely senile. Grandad MR has surrendered. Agreed to IMPLEMENT 13th Amendment in full and why do you need the TNA. The job has already been done without any sweat. If you want to invite TNA they wont be coming to a Foreign Veddas Land. But if you want to meet them you can travel to the Motherland of Tamils but you need permission as we dont allow Foreign Veddas.
By the way MR your Boss the current chair of the Commonwealth couldnt take up the chair as he was suffering from PILES. ( Cant sit). After the countdown what are you going to do? Set fire to youself. May be ask for a RECOUNT.

Knowing clan’s kleptocracy it appears that Britain is unable to secure chairs.

When will the Tamils start talking sense?

You are not making any “SENSE”. It is definitely old age. Old age can be cruel.
