    ‘Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando Resigns’

Absolutely good riddance, given his utter pomposity displayed.

The person who appointed this joker is more responsible than he is.

Truth be told …….. the major responsibility for this debacle should fall on the coup-plotters Sirisena and Mahinda. Sirisena excluded everyone else and hogged the defense ministry to grab power in a future plot with Mahinda under the Rajapakses’ instructions.

Their main concern is grabbing power ……. to hell with the safety of the citizens.

The main issue here ……. Sirisena excluding the PM and Ruwan and hogging the defense ministry under the instructions of the coup-plotters the Rajapakses ……. no one talks about.

Ranil is an imbecile in Lankan-terms but in a situation like this someone has to tell the truth, so I suppose I’ll have to do it! …….. The first thing Ranil did in 2001 when he won the election and became PM was to call Kadiragama the outgoing FM and offer him protection and beef up his security! While the Rajapakses removed the security of the man who saved Jaffna Major Janaka Perera and let him get blown to bits. Now that’s the truth! Anyone wants to argue that? No one will say hmm …… that’s Lankans for you!

We may not like certain people …… but that’s no reason to be blind to the truth.

As far as I am concerned we should get rid of the entire old guard and start anew with a new lot.

      Enough is enough.

Sri Lanka is called a democracy. Power should be with the people, so do the people have the right to ask the President to resign. If he does not want to resign then the parliament as the representatives of the people have a moral obligation to impeach the President.

        Nimal Fernando:
While I cannot agree with you more about getting rid of the “old bunch,” we have to ensure that until such time, the national interest is safeguarded to the maximum extent possible. I know that is more easily said than done, but do we have any other choice?

        • 1

          Exactly, Emil.
          .
“nimal” always writes sense and is consistent. I respect his views.
          .
Emil, you write articles under your own name, so we know you.
          .
I come somewhere in the middle. I use a pseudonym and I hope that I’m consistent. I regularly reveal my identity.
          .
          Today I’ve got two BCC emails asking me to sign two quite different “petitions”. It may be that some people would have signed both, without seeing that they have quite different agenda;
          .
          http://chng.it/BHL5rNSL28
          .
Knowing the sender of this, I had a 45 minute phone chat with him. He had not signed it himself, and we agreed that we’d better not sign.
          .
Then came this other one from a person whom I don’t know at all. It said:
          .
“Our goal is to reach 500 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:

          http://chng.it/pRyWnVHMrW”
          .

I have no telephone number to call him. Quite simply I can’t sign that, although I’m sick of Ranil who should, ages ago, have set himself a date to give up politics. Plus there’s no democracy within the party.
          .
People say “yes” to everything, but don’t study anything properly.
          .
Does anybody know how the President is elected?
I’ve tried to explain it in comments here:
          .
          dex.php/next-presidential-elections-are-the-media-doing-justice-by-the-nation/
          .
I don’t think even one in a hundred voters know the system. Yet they vote.
          .
We get the government that we deserve!

It is not Ranil you are the imbecile for concocting this type of warped garbage. This is coming from the selfish idiot Harin who is now coming up with all sorts of excuses to cover is sorry arse

Speak of the devil! ………. Typical Lankan! :))

Coming under a new handle hiding and sniping from the bushes!

If you have something to say have the courage to say it like a man directly ……. don’t snipe and run away.

No wonder the country is in this rut.

    Mr. Hemasiri Fernando,

Congratulation on your promotion! You managed your promotion without a transit in Hotel Hospital.

You tried to explain that the received information cannot be processed immediately as there was no emergency declared. So you waited for good opportunity to nap all the culprits alive, with the nest and the nestling. Fearing your potential action, the cowards committed suicide to save them, before you move in. That is ok; still we not disappointed of any inefficiency. Next time, please, don’t bother to explain. We readers will try our best to explain from here on. But your Promotion is a birthright, especially people like you, have survived from Queen Sirimavo time.

If you don’t mind please do help while leaving. Could you clean the room and take your boss too with you.

Best of luck for the greedy lackeys hang in beyond their 90s.

Poor guy – so he wont be there to show off Sri Lanka’s military might of Sri Lanka on May the 18th – The war heroes day?

How can the president just ask the defence secretary and the IGP to resign and close the matter? He as the head of state and commander in chief of the armed forces should resign first, further more he should be charged for unconstitutionally keeping the prime minister, deputy defense minister and the IGP away from the security council meetings for almost six months.

Is the PTA regulation applicable to the outgoing Secretary of Defense ?
Charged for not passing on sensitive security related information to the authorities or did he think that he is the authority and so he divulged warnings to himself may be standing in front of the mirror or in his sleep?
Some senior poilicians,Governors and security officials seems culpable as well based on the published news.Let us see what those in power do or may be there are no one in power to take appropriate actions !!

Dayan is very quiet considering what has occurred. Anybody got an explanation for that?

    • 2
      1

Dayan will come up with his usual , i.e Since intelligence network has been diluted and war winning heroes been demoralized , Ranil led good governance must take the full responsibility and resign immediately handing the reins to Sajith & Mahinda to take SL forward ‘ ! Furthermore, he will quote from few of his own writings to show off that he has the wisdom to foresee the future.

Nothing seem to be working for the Malayalam family.
They knew about the Sunday bombing through intelligence as same as the Sill Sena who suddenly packed up the bags and his entire family disappeared .
What did the Malayalam family do ?? Kept away from Colombo hotels and churches.
      How clever our intelligence services.

Why President Sirisena has not resigned yet?

“Why President Sirisena has not resigned yet?”
Aapya will shamelessly stick fast to the President’s post like a limpet sticking on a slippery rock in the sea, until he is prised out with the pick axe of strong public opinion.

He has no sense of shame. After the October 26th reversal any self respecting head would have resigned. This guy needs to be impeached.

The new twist is Jeyam refusing to get out. Jeyam was targeted even before October Revolution. There is serious murder-coup accusation against him. They want PM, EP seats for them though coup to protect them t from their murder cases, but it looks like they want removed Jeyam from his seat so they can bring a stronger murder case on him. Whatever the damn it is, he is not willing to get out.

This guy’s departure sounds like from another deal, 180 degree opposite side. As every person in Lankawe, including Zahren Hassim, is denying that they were warned about these suicide attack but this one is the only one accepted that he did not act on the warnings he got. That doesn’t sounds that much dumb like as it hears.

Further, now Lankawe says there is no ISIS participation. (May be a technique to get INTERPOL and FBI out of the country before they come out with anything itchy to Ranil.) Death toll has become 253.

So all points suggesting that New King might have cut a deal with this guy to accept the fault before he went to pray Ezhumalaiyan to protect him from all these juggleries. So New King “cane and carrot” goes like this on this suicide bombing: It is Jeyam has to take the Thirukkai Waal but this guy get the carrot.

PM has clearly accepted that he is the PM for going on Perahera and enjoying Perks. He has no power vested with him.. Again he is talking as he is in power, where as he has no Power no access to security council. We are living in a jokers world.

Sacking these guys is just an eyewash to tide over the situation. However, Hemasiri is stupid to say that he never expected that it would be so severe? Come on man and what a fool you are. This is why many believe that only MODAYAS can rule this land and brainy people have no place. Soon these guys may go as ambassadors, so dont worry.
But this is also a good lesson for Sinhala extremist and instead of playing double game to keep your agenda going use honesty, decency and integrity in ruling the country and treat all citizens as fellow citizens and not mere minorities that have to put up with all your pranks. Repeated racial violence against minority is the main reason why we are in this plight today and forced minorities into a situation where they were reluctant feel as Sri lankans. Rewriting bogus histories, hiding the truth, misleading the gullible and pampering the minority according to their convenience is not the answer. They in order to undermine the Tamils pampered the Muslims and see what had happened? Will they now pamper the Tamils? Let us be fair and lead by Buddha said if our major value is Buddhsim. We are a country where some one even said that Buddha is a Sinhalese borne in SL?
Let us be firm in our stand and show no mercy on extremism or terrorism and sadly Islam becoming a worldwide menace and tus we have to be very firm about Islamic teachings and practices. It is sad several Muslims will be affected by this but no way, it is the sad situation of terrorism and extremism. In a plural society there is absolutely no room for extreme religious ideology. Muslims have a problem like all of us but there is no room for extreme islamism that will finally will ruin all of us.

This country expects not only Hemasiri Fernando to resign. Others should resign are; President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinge and IGP Pujitha Jayasundera.

The Hemasiri , I have observed , is a go getter a man of action and a decision maker. I still do not understand how can a man of this calibre make such an error of judgement. It is not pardonable, but there is something still which has not come to light.

One must wear the shoes that fit. President does not know the sizes and neither does the idiots of the caliber like HF. Neither of them claim their mistakes are theirs whether the ship has sunk but preach nonsense to the world just to enjoy the perks and privileges they have legitimized to themselves.

I agree with Champa and suspect India and America as the main players behind the blasts . The Island is full of Secret Service Agents of America, India, Pakistan, China and Israel and nothing could be hatched without their knowledge. The whole affair looks similar to what happened in Syria and the presence of American Navy at Hambantota just about the blasts needs to be taken into consideration. I view this as a brew of the Local, Regional and world powers to make this country as next war Theater.

      Mano
      Agree.
The presence of American Navy in Hambantota when the suicide bomb attacks taken place was also prearranged.
But, we Sinhalese DEFEATED SUPER POWERS by NOT resorting to race-riots in the aftermath of suicide attacks carried out by Muslim extremists turn out to be terrorists.
Knowingly or unknowingly, Sinhalese have thwarted America’s attempt to make Sri Lanka ANOTHER Syria.

We need officials with a back bone.we need officials who will have the courage to say no to politicians and succumb to their unscrupulous demands.
When we have such officials they must by honored and celebrated.
In the contrary there must be name and shame. They must be publicly chastised. This must be done with no political biase. Right values should be inculcated to all including school children.

Good riddance! President: Appoint someone with merit, rather than some politician’s relative.
That practice has lead to most of the disasters in Sri Lanka, including JVP and LTTE insurrections.

Isn’t there any punishment for violating the Constitution. Then leaving the country defenseless by not appointing an acting minister when he left the country. New constitution makers should look at these.

President was briefed on security situation but got hemasiri to take the fall (see Anidda newspaper). Entire intelligence network under President. PM excluded from defence and law and order…
President and coup conspirators should share entire blame for this episode.
