Truth be told …….. the major responsibility for this debacle should fall on the coup-plotters Sirisena and Mahinda. Sirisena excluded everyone else and hogged the defense ministry to grab power in a future plot with Mahinda under the Rajapakses’ instructions.

Sri Lanka is called a democracy. Power should be with the people, so do the people have the right to ask the President to resign. If he does not want to resign then the parliament as the representatives of the people have a moral obligation to impeach the President.

The new twist is Jeyam refusing to get out. Jeyam was targeted even before October Revolution. There is serious murder-coup accusation against him. They want PM, EP seats for them though coup to protect them t from their murder cases, but it looks like they want removed Jeyam from his seat so they can bring a stronger murder case on him.
