New Pictures have emerged showing President Sirisena imitating President Rajapaksa, worshipping the sacred Tree in Anuradhapura. The resemblance is uncanny.
Such conduct was not seen during the tenure of President Jayewardene or Kumaratunga. President Rajapaksa seem to have pioneered worshiping tarmac, Tree worshipping of this nature and took astrology to new heights.
Is President Sirisena following in the foot steps of President Rajapaksa? We will let our readers judge if the voters have bought Old wine in new bottles.

RESPECT FOR ANOTHER’S RELIGIOUS BELIEF IS IMPORTANT…
Each individual has his/her right to practice their faith and engage in rituals of belief… be it a normal citizen, professional, or politician even the president of a country…
BUT WHAT IS ESSENTIAL IS SPIRITUALITY WHICH DEVELOPS A PERSONS’S CHARACTER, WAY OF THINKING, ATTITUDES AND ACTIONS.. This is what is expected of any religion..
THE PROBLEM IS.. practicing these rituals as a public performance in the presence of photographers, video cameras and reporters should be stopped… Cricket teams at the airport, opening of buildings and what not.
This has become a menace.. demeaning all religious leaders in the country, by bringing them to public places, forcing them to utter blessings into a microphone… an utter farce of denoting religious co-existence…
Religious leaders and places of worship should ensure that starting from a child all persons must be encouraged to strengthen their spiritual life… and not just an outward display of rituals

It is sad to see that the news try to show ignorance in regular buddhist practice by stating “tree worshiping”. Such statements are uncalled for in this kind of a forum and heavily undermines the buddhist concepts. It is unfair to blame the public for riots, etc if such statements are continually carried on news papers, etc.

Religions = Man written out dated scripts .
Even-though I not see no harm worshiping a live tree here the message is clear for the uninformed mass and it s vote base, Please respect a one of the greatest visionaries lived and preached in planet earth. There is a massive job for the media and education sector to tighten the bolts of this whole nation. Removing astrology from government funded media is not enough. To find right people and operate those two important tools to greater greatness not an easy task but possible. Possible like sending Mahinda and his team home.
