The Indian Central Government cannot give Tamil Nadu political parties veto over its dealings with the Government of Sri Lanka, a leading Indian newspaper said in its editorial today.
The campaign in Tamil Nadu’s political circles to have India boycott the forthcoming Commonwealth meet in Colombo comes as no surprise, the Indian Express said.
“Whether it was over New Delhi’s attempt to negotiate a workable draft of a UN resolution on human rights in Sri Lanka or the participation of Lankan cricketers in domestic cricket, Tamil Nadu’s two largest political parties have been outbidding each other in recommending the more extremist position, never mind its very questionable utility in attaining their stated goal of securing a better political package for the island nation’s Tamil minority.,” the editorial said.
“What surprises is the PM‘s refusal to challenge the rhetoric while assuring Karunanidhi, an erstwhile UPA ally, that any decision will take into account “the sentiments of your party (the DMK) and the Tamil people”, the Indian Express editorial said.
It said that this was not the first time the UPA has apparently given a regional party the veto in the Centre’s dealings with a neighbouring country.
“But in no other context has the UPA been so wary — frightened, even — as it has been on Sri Lanka, of explaining India’s longstanding argument against blanket boycotts and sanctions as effective instruments of forcing democratic change in South Asia. In the time since the final phase of the Sri Lankan military’s fight against the LTTE, Delhi has allowed Tamil political parties to determine the standard for how to engage Colombo — and, more dangerously, to rouse the street,” the newspaper noted.

This is what Modi said few days ago:
Modi says must protect Tamils
October 18, 2013
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi says people of Indian origin are present in several countries and they have to be engaged effectively and taken care of when in trouble like the Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Modi also said that India’s foreign policy should be built on the foundation of our culture, tradition, strength, economy, trade, strategy and security, the Indo Asian News Service reported.
Delivering the Nani Palkhivala memorial lecture in Chennai today on “India and the World”, Modi stressed that the foreign policy should be drawn up with inputs from states and wondered why not give each Indian state one foreign country to develop better relationship with.
He said India’s freedom struggle was not just about getting independence from British rule but a global anti-colonial movement and these principles should shape up our foreign policy. (Colombo Gazette)

“To Protect Tamils, Better give them “Toilets” and good living standards… This is the best way to serve “Tamils” in your Nadu…”
Its a very good idea.
Could you just speak to the Indian HC to stop their 50,000 house building project in this island and divert the resources to Tamilnadu.

There is no such thing as free lunch.
“They have lot of things in their mind…”
Could you list them.
“First you have to solved your own affair, before solving others…”
Of course they are solving their own affair, in their Sinhala state of India.

The Chinese gave the potty to the west but today they themselves carry a tin and kids wear slit trousers and it’s called environmental protection.
Any ideas for the rest of the nation?

What is the substance of the statement of Indian Express (IE)? It is our (IE’s) irrevocable diktat to the popularly elected government of democratic India, that it shall abide by our wisdom.
It shall not and dare not pay heed to a viewpoint contrary to ours, even when it reflects the strongly held and considered stance of people’s representatives of TN. Does IE give any quarter to the Indian Government to so much as even entertaining support to the opinion of an important segment of India?
Hitler’s rule is less unpalatable than IE’s supercilious dictatorial tone. IE has the Divine Right to veto TN, and to out veto Indian Government. Is it?

Ooooos, Hubristically viewed!
It is only a English newspaper that bridges TN to the rest of the country while the rest run Hindi and their regional languages.

Sadly you never learned “mea culpa mea culpa mea maath culpa” and wrongly thought that Lord Shiva never forgives when in fact he does.
Baharat is a vast land and in almost every city where there is schedule caste Buddhist colony thanks to Dr Ambedkar there is a Sinhalese monk for ages. So what do you think he does just watch the ceiling? He very dedicatedly learns the local language so that he can move around and it’s not necessary for him to have a vihare.
The Sinhalese have travelled and lived in almost all those areas because of their language while the JT Tamils thinking mine is classic like the Greeks and have stuck to TN. Best wishes for a better future in extroversion.

Tamis are only 6% of India whereas Hindians are over 40%. So, it’s more like like the tail wagging the dog. Good for you and them, we couldn’t careless.

“So, it’s more like like the tail wagging the dog.”
Sinhalese are about 17 Millions whereas the population of greater (Ahand) Bharat is about 1.3 Billion.
Sinhala/Buddhists think they should determine Ahand Bharat’s foreign policy options and their toilet building projects.
So, it’s more like like the tail wagging the dog.

Way back when, when the Northern Uprising was in it’s infancy, it was said that Tamilnadu is more important than Delhi on the issue and it was wise to make better relationships with the folks in Tamilnadu.
My call is that Dr. Singh will attend CHOGM.
This thought still holds.

“Way back when, when the Northern Uprising was in it’s infancy,”
During its infancy India was dry zone so for a drink the Tamils went out to nearby Army,Air Force camps where it flowed. Now TN like Jaffna held mystic ideas of North India and that is where the association with the forces and training by retired personnel started.
It’s not that Indira was eager when she was very close to Sirimavo and helped her during the JVP insurgency. Subsequent events had its effects.
There is no smoke without a fire.

When Dr. Singh said that he will give heed to the sentiments of the people of Tamilnadu, surely there should be some meaning in that! It is highly unlikely that he will attend. But other bigwigs will attend.

Man Moron Singh will attend CHOGM.
Vigneswaran has begged Man Moron to attend CHOGM and visit SL. But Sambandan tells him to listen to Tamil Madu!
What is going on?
Looks like Rajafucksa has infiltrated into TNA too. He did this to UNP, LTTE, JVP, SLMC, CWC. Now TNA is also penetrated by the Rajafucksas. Good.

What is so wrong in the PM of India saying that he will give heed to the sentiments of the people of Tamilnadu? Are the people of Tamilnadu not Indians? Are they strangers to India? What the PM has said is in keeping with good democratic traditions. What are these media Moghuls trying to dictate to an elected government?

The Indian PM will Singh the Congress anthem whenever he is instructed to do so by Sonia Gandhi. He, more than us, is mindful that he is PM of India as per wishes of Sonia. Just like he will be a 81yr old retiree when Sonia wishes it.
So when he says he will give heed to the sentiments of the people of TN and the decision will be made at the last minute. What it means is the construction company that got the Sampur coal power project has already bribed the bigwigs in Congress. So he has to go to SL but will do so with an air of great reluctance due to the sentiments of the people of TN.
Srinagar is only 850km to the north of Delhi. If ever he needs scratch the human rights itch, all he has to do is look north. The idea that south Asian political leaders listen to the sentiments of the people is quite revolutionary. If it were so do you think Chennai airport will look the way it does?

This is just a game played by DMK and Congress for political purposes.
In 2008/2009, there were so much opposition and anger from Tamil Nadu parties, but Congress never gave in and DMK played along.
I hope Indian Express remember that.

“In 2008/2009, there were so much opposition and anger from Tamil Nadu parties,”
If there were as you think there were, if those parties were really concerned about their umbilical relations in this island, they would have crossed the Palk strait in fishing boats with their drawn out swords and annihilated the Sinhala/Buddhist armed forces.
They were not angry enough,
They were not concerned about,
They don’t give two hoots about your people in this island,
And why should they?
Your people never gave them their due respect.
For you they have always been known as Kallathonies and Vaddukars.
Even now the Sri Lankan Tamils regard themselves superior to Tamilnadu Tamils.
Why didn’t the Tamilnadu Tamils cross the Palk strait when needed?

At this point of time the Indian PM coming to CHOGM in what is considered an unfriendly country ruled by anti-Indian Rajapakses will set Tamilnadu alight. Sonia-Dr.MMS are resigned to the fact of a Congress Party defeat in early 2014. They will concentrate on a Rahul-lead CPI victory in 2018.

“In the time since the final phase of the Sri Lankan military’s fight against the LTTE, Delhi has allowed Tamil political parties to determine the standard for how to engage Colombo — and, more dangerously, to rouse the street,” the newspaper noted.”
This is far from the truth. INDIA SUPPORTED the first UN HRC resolution in May 2009 praising Sri Lanka for ending the war in which 146,000 people were massacred after months of enforced starvation. Tat resolution denied access to civilians interned behind BARBED WIRES for months. That gave strengths to Sri Lankan government to torture, rape and extra judicially execute thousands of suspects. Even today nearly 1000 suspects are kept behind doors without any charges made against them.
All attempts by NGOs such as AHRC, HRW, AI, ICG and follow-up UN HRC Resolutions (supported by India) made no real progress in troop reduction in Tamil speaking areas, reconciliation, accountability for killing hundreds of thousands and Sinhalamisation of Tamil areas.

Mahat Ma Gandhi was of the opinion that congress needs to be resolved, since it’s mandate was over with Indian Freedom Struggle. If Sonia Congress follows IE’s advice it will be an END of congress in TN. Mark My Word…
