Sri Lanka is a multi-ethnic country where the arrival of Muslims occurred in several ways. We have to spot the flourishing period of Muslims in Sri Lanka and the crisis period as well. An in-depth analysis is needed to resolve the prevailing situation of the country.
Islam and Middle East
Islam was formed and spread in the Middle East at the beginning. Growth of the religion took place with the influence of various factors such as culture and environment of many other countries. We could observe in countries like Turkey, Egypt, and Iran. These countries still follow their cultural values. Islamic countries have adopted a lifestyle balancing both teachings of Islam and the cultural values of the nation.
Emergence of Radicalism
Ideologies of Abdul Wahhab (Wahhabism) were created by the Saudi Arabian rulers to seize the government and sovereignty of the descendants of Prophet Mohammed. Wahhabism consisted of fanaticism and extremism which ruined the cultural and historical values of the society.
Sri Lanka and Radical Organizations
Sri Lankan radicalized Islamic groups mostly express monotheism than preaching about Prophet Mohammed. Their campaigning area is restricted to theology. They expound radicalism leads to the concept of International Sovereignty. They deeply implant their thoughts to their followers. These types of radicalized organizations are inappropriate for a multi-cultural country like Sri Lanka. Several Muslim countries have banned these types of radical organizations.
Destructive Activities
Penetration of radical organizations into Sri Lanka has immensely damaged the historical identities, cultural values and archeological evidences of Sri Lankan Muslims. Radical organizations have isolated Sri Lankan Muslims from other communities. Abolition of shrines, “Meelad” ceremonies and “Kandoori” events curtailed the prospects of National Integrity and togetherness.
Separations
Radical organizations who speak monotheism have divided Sri Lankan Muslims. They are functioning under different names. They carried monotheism but they could not build unity due to their untruthfulness.
Darwinism and Radicalism
Darwin highlighted the notion of “survival of the fittest”. He stated, “It is not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change.” Likewise, radicalized people claim that they are not fundamentalists. They have negatively been responding since their inception.
Suggestions
Sri Lankan Muslims have been living as a respectable society in Sri Lanka. Majority of the Sri Lankan Muslims desire peaceful living in the native land. They do not support extremists. They request government to prohibit all these radicalized organizations methodically. All the Sri Lankan Muslims and other communities should extend their fullest support to the government. Proper measures should be taken immediately to reinstate the regular arrangement of the country.

I’m shocked to see how poor quality of education in Peradeniya now in the filed of arts and humanity. Why should we people waste time in reading articles like this. I agree 100%! First of all, the term, “survival is the fittest” is not Darwin writings. It was invented by his contemporary Herbert Spencer. Survival is the fittest is a circular argument that doesn’t explain Darwin’s theory of evolution by adaptation to Natural environment. Second, the quotation is found nowhere in Darwin’s writings. On the contrary, Darwin in the chapter iv of the Origin built the argument that the most improved species will exterminate its less improved ancestors and thereby cause the “progressive” evolution. By the way, this is not the first time I came across meaningless writings by Peradeniya dons on Geology & Evolution.

It is thus Satanic Faith and it’s clones, following the Stan, that commuted the Terrorist bombing, of you interpret the Hadith.

I really don’t know where you got this news. Humans evolve not from monkeys but from chips and the very first homo like bipedal were Australopethicus to which Luci’s belongs.
About Mufizal’s attempt use Darwinism to explain human behavior, all I can say is that it is a result of utter misunderstandings of Darwin’s theory. This types of attempts are also known as “social Darwinism”, a misuse of Darwin’s theory leading all the way to Nazism via the biogenetic theory of German anatomist Ernst Haechel. Darwin theory of evolution cannot be applied to explain human behavior b’cos the two systems evolve via very different mechanisms: Darwin’s system is based on an adoption of new traits by trial & error method that requires millions of years (even though that is not evolution really works) while social changes works by Lamarckian evolutionary method of passing acquired traits to the next generation. Unlike with Darwin’s method where large scale trends are imperceptible to humans, except for organisms with very short lifespan such as bacteria, Lamarckian evolution is generational & therefore observable.

I didn’t say Lamarckism is a valid evolutionary theory. As matter of fact, Darwin’s theory was good enough to disprove Lamarck’s theory. All I was saying is that the model can be used to explain cultural change which often works by copying others (acquired traits) and then passing them to the next generation.

This fellow being a lecturer does not what is Wahabism. This word was coined by a European and promoted so there will be splits among followers. Who is Ibn Wahab? He was just an educated ordinary man like you and me but when he saw the innovations and un-Islamic practices that were taking roots, with the influence of the rulers he eradicated those and preached Islam in its purest form. During his days saint worshipping promoted and there were many tombs of saint which they got hold of and made the people fools by making false conception like getting healed, getting wealth etc. etc. if you visit the tomb and request from the saint purely to fill the till there and make money. Now everybody knows a dead and gone person cannot give anything to the living. So what can these tombs give. Now see how much money the Muftis of this Dewatagaha mosque make. They are living a rich life making us fools. I heard Indian Ajmeer Dargha makes billion of rupees since good majority for Non-Muslim too visit there. So like an expanding business these will expand and only people are fools believing and spending money there. Islam says Allah is supreme without any partners and worship only him. If you don’t believe this you are not a Muslim. Only those promoting Wahabism can clean SL Muslims to be a pure Muslim.

Hadith of Najd did not predict Wahab but the rise of Shiaism. Wahab did not bring any innovation to Prophet Muhammed’s revealations or Hadith. Wahab was fighting the Muslim to follow only what Muhammed’s revealed and Hadith. Well documented history of Islam and Prophet is there. Don’t try to twist here and only ignorant will follow you. What Muslims doing is in respect of Abraham or Ibrahim. Whether you are in North pole or South there is a direction to Kabba and if you follow that direction is enough. Whatever direction you look earth will appear flat unless you reach space. Fasting is not relative to direction so you can fast wherever you are.

Only one thing matters for evolution, reproductive success, over tens and thousands of years if a trait causes a group to die before they reproduce that group will disappear eventually, similarly if a trait causes a group to be exceptionally successful in reproduction that group and that trait will survive. I do not believe Whabism has a real evolutionary effect. Although a certain trait may cause fanatism, most fanatics reproduce and pass that hypothetical trait to the progeny before they commit suicidal acts, so in that context if there is such a genetic trait/s that causes fanatism which leads to extremism and terrorism that trait will still survive.
