Exposed: De Facto CJ Advises President To Amend 13A

The Colombo Telegraph learns that 3rd June 2013, evening, De facto Chief Justice Mohan Pieris met the President privately for 45 minutes. After the discussion, the President met a group of confidants prior to meeting the party leaders of the UPFA at 7.30 pm.

Mohan Pieris

At the party leaders meeting on 5th June,  the President announced that a Cabinet paper would be submitted on the next Cabinet meeting fixed for the 6th June to amend the constitution to change two provisions. He briefly explained the intended amendments:

a. Taking away the provisions authorizing  two Provincial Councils to merge.

b. Changing Articles 154G and 154H so that the Parliament will be able to pass any law inconsistent with the Schedules to the 13th Amendment, provided  the majority of the Provincial Councils give their assent.

The Cabinet paper and the draft constitutional amendment has now been finalised.

This urgent decision was taken and announced in the absence of the Rauf Hakeem the Leader of the SLMC and the Minister Tissa Vitarana of the LSSP, who are presently overseas.

    History repeats.
Rajapakses are making the same mistake Prabaharan made.
When one is in power he cannot think rationally.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Reasonable prudent Tamils are going to become irrational terrorists.
It is only a matter of time.

Rajapaksa claimed glory for the victory over the LTTE. Some may debate that.

What will be non-debatable is the fact that Rajapaksa will be solely responsible for causing the International Community to come into Sri Lanka and divide it up. Sri Lanka will never see peace from that point on; like Israel and Palestine. Then it will get gang raped by India and China. Ouch! To think it used to be the beautiful damsel of the Indian Ocean. Who’s the pimp?

Oh people of Sri Lanka, what a broken people you’ll be.

The so called chief justice mohan pieris is acting against the principles of all judicial ethics known to us. We saw him at the farewell to the ex Indian ambassador hugging him most lovingly before gorging on chappatis. When UNP MP Jayalath Jayawardena died he ran to the funeral home. This is typical cheap political behaviour. What connection can there be between the newly appointed Chief Justice of this country and the indian ambassador that they hug each other like life long friends ?

As we know India is very much involved in Sri lankan internal affairs . This makes them interested parties in controversial politcal cases ,even matters concerning the 13 amendment etc.Is the Indian ambassador in a position to call our Chief Justice for a chat to his residence over tea ? seems so from all the bear hugs( By the way this hugging between the same sex is not a south asian custom, if you care to study it )

Similarly we cannot understand the connection between the late MP Jayalath Jayawardena and this CJ.

Obviously Mohan Pieris considers himself an extension of the ruling political machinery and part of the deal making that goes on.
At a psychological level we often see this among people who are not really Romans trying to prove they are more Roman.

Mohan Pieris is a christain and part burgher. Nivad Cabrall is a Christian with Colombo Chetty blood predominant. Duminda Silva is very mixed, and of course a christain. But all three crave to win acceptance from a Sinhala Buddhist set up. So people like these three will stoop to levels which self respecting Sinhalese, who are sure of their place, will not do.
But by having this kind of mixed race officials with deep psychological issues of social acceptence, the institutions they head are damaged and polluted almost irreversibly.

The present approach of the govt is going to justify the violence caused by LTTE. If Muslims join the bandwagon of the Tamils, Sri Lanka will be worse than Syria. What men like GL, Mohan Pieris are doing, I dont know?

Why not remove 13 amendment altogether? What is the delay?

If government cannot make a decision, ask the people in a referendum.

This is the most opportune moment for this disgraceful custodian of justice to do a favour to his master and better the record of another shameless chief justice Sarath Silva. One wonders whether the rule of law and the justice system could descend any further.

This man is playing a double game, CJ by day and P Adviser by night. So if the ammendment is challenged in courts will he be able to give a judgement against his own advise? SC has become a joke.

This is another step in Centralising more powers among the ruling Junta.

This will isolate Sri Lanka and will pave way for a speedy seperation of North and East from the Country.

Another Sri Lankan Sinhala Buddhist Patrliament Donkeys mad behaviour that will lead to seperation in the country.
