Shanil Nethicumara who was alleged to have threatened Anika Wijesuriya the witness who proved evidence of the Penthouse deal to the Bond Commission, is yet to be arrested.
Sources confirmed that today’s reports in Sri Lanka’s national newspapers regarding pressure to the Inspector General of Police against the arrest were in fact true and that Nethicumara is being protected by Ravi Karunanayake and his ministerial colleagues.
Nethicumara, a former private secretary to several ministers is currently employed at a famous property development company Fairway Holdings.
Nethicumara is a known Party boy in Colombo and is also the brother in law of Narada Dissanayake, the son of minister S.B Dissanayake.
He is also a relative of Ravi Karunanayake according to the submissions made by the Attorney General to the Bond Commission.
