This is what you miss out when you do not learn the language of the majority. In Sri Lanka, there are three languages, Sinhala, Tamil and English!
Anyway, it is the leader of the UNP. It is a good speech. It is the duty and responsibility of UNP to give the English and Tamil Translations. RW, says the budget is no relief for the people, and 70% of the people do not earn enough to maintain livable wage, and have to leave the country to make a living. The budget does not disclose the truth and like last year, after the budget, they increased the electricity rates. They will do the same this year as well, to cover the expenses of the CHOGM and the perks given.
RW, said that therefore, he opposes the budget.

The budget proposals presented for 2014 doesn’t have any relief for the masses, the masses have been deceived again states the JVP adding that a massive demonstration and a rally have been organized tomorrow (25th) to protest against the government that ignores the suffering of the people but burdens them with higher taxes and fines.
The JVP states the demonstration will commence from Punchi Borella at 2.00 p.m. and the rally would be held at Hyde Park at 4.00 p.m. and invites all to join the demonstration and rally.
Budget miracle – prices soar!
The prices of several imported consumer goods such as sugar, lentils, sprats and salt have been raised due to the increased special commodities levy imposed on imported goods through the budget.
According to this tax amendment proposed by the budget 2014 a kilo of sugar has been increased by Rs.30 and sprats by Rs.26. The prices of tinned foods, green gram, gram, ground nuts, maldive fish, dry fish, palm oil, salt, yogurt, butter, coriander, mustard, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, turmeric, oranges, wheat flour, cheese, curd, vegetables, fruit, fruit juices, chocolate, sweets, assuages, prepared foods, vinegar, sauces, soups, ice cream, coffee, pepper, vanilla, soaps, washing liquids and powder, mosquito coils, candles, batteries, sanitary towels, Portland cement, paints and varnishes, steel products, aluminum related products, padlocks, hinges, furniture, rubber products and machinery will be increased.
A kilo of dhal will go up by Rs.22, tinned fish by102, maldive fish by 302, dry fish by 102, palm oil by 110, butter by 880, margarine by 175, coriander by 202, oranges by 35, grapes by 130, chillie powder by 150 and turmeric powder by 510.
Some of these tax amendments were effective from the time the budget proposals were presented.

If Mr Ranil has no backbone and if he is the one responsible for the consecutive defeat of the UNP in fact we must be so happy to keep him as our opponent right rather than trying to throw him out?

The way to oust MR is to pressurise the Commonwealth to table the two Reports that Kamalesh Sharma concealed. Then to install the CJ De Jure back in her post, which will stregthen the Judiciary. Thereafter get the Judiciary to implement the Laws properly that MPs are not allowed to cross over as allowed by that on the way home fucker, that will bring back the power back to Parliament and not be concentrated in the hands of a Corrupt Despotic MR. Once Parliament regains it’s power have Elections under a care taker govt to reflect the real will of the people.

I’m no fan of Ranil or the UNP; I have this bad habit of not being able to forget what they did with unfettered power back in the 80s.
But I must admit the guy IS SMART! Who in their right mind would want to take over this mess of an economy as it stands today. The sheit is sure to hit the fan anytime now and he looks like doesn’t want to be the guy holding the bucket when it does. I can understand that! The stupid Sri Lankans are still blaming him for the austerity measures he had to take when he took over a negative growth economy last time. Of course, once bitten twice shy!!!
Besides he is preoccupied anyway with saving the “Grand Old Party” from Sajith who thinks he can be a bigger deick, to Sri Lanka people, than MaRa. It is not like Ranil is trying to save the country his children; he could easily go live in somewhere for the rest of his days when he feels like it. So, in that sense, I cannot help but wonder if the guy really has some affection for this country and its people after all; and whether the people are too stupid to see it.
See how people talk about Vijaya Kumaranatunga today. But I remember how most people at the time, used to denigrate him for no good reason. Ranil criticism today seems to have a lot of parallels.
I see Sri Lankan people as man stuck in a hole in the wall. MaRa has come from behind and doing unspeakable things but the guy keeps cursing at Ranil, all the while he is trying to pull the guy out of the hole.

if RW is selfish, he could long have left the party and country. He is a law bound educated person. All those accusations mostly for no reasons should have made him feel very bad. Nevertheless to stay strong (SALENNE NETHIWA) not taking them personal make him a good personality.

with UK Foreign Secretary William Hague. When it appeared in the Island
newspaper, it was accompanied by a story that Sajith had talks with
Hague where he asked him to give more aid to Sri Lanka. What a shameless fellow! He was introduced to Hague by Ranil Wickremesinghe
at the party. This is what happened even with Indian External Affairs Minister Khurshid. They appear in Sunday newspapers today.
So Ranil is walling in the mudhole dug for him by his compatriots
today. What an irony? What a tragedy?
The time will soon come when Karu Jayasuriya will edge him out to
become the Presidential candidate. The grass under RW’s feet is now
