A protest was staged outside Udaya Gammanpila‘s office yesterday by his supporters who had donated Rs. 100 each, to run his election campaign last year.
The group of angry protesters held placards and gathered outside the provincial Councillor’s office, demanding the Rs. 100 they had donated for his election campaign pointing out he has not bothered to address any of their grievances.
‘අපෙන් ගත්ත 100 දියං (Give us back our Rs. 100)!’ the protesters chanted but to no avail because he was not available in his office.
JHU Spokesman Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe who partook in the protest said, “We ask Gammanpila not to hide. . . Take time to visit the electoral districts of Colombo – be accountable and responsible to your voters.”
He went on to state that Gammanpila’s supporters are agitated due to not being able to meet him or locate him due to having no contactable address or an office.
“No one knows where he is! He has asked these people to produce receipts. they have brought it but where should these people go in order to get their money reimbursed,” he questioned. no address, no office no one knows where he is
The angry protesters also visited Gammanpila’s residence in Thalawathugoda but he was unavailable.
During last year’s Western provincial elections, Udaya Gammanpila requested the public to give him Rs 100 each for his election campaign claiming he is unable to afford the campaign expenses.

This demand for the return of the Rs. 100/- by the voters takes my memory back to the requirement that was stipulated as regards the “desertion” of Parliamentary Members losing his/her seat once change the party through which he/she contested and entered the Legislature. This stipulation was “overturned” by our “Ex CJ” who now talks and interpret Laws and at times apologetic for wrong decisions made.
The above “Demand” by the people from Mr. Gammanpila is the “ingredient” to that stipulation we had in relation to the Parliamentary members who resigns from a party. That is why we had stable Governments and a thing called “BY Elections”. How about re-introducing it to come with the present day “Overhaul” of our Governing system?

who is this Udaya Gammanpila – ? I only got to know him from the political discusses of the TV senders. His arguments were far distant to any average thinkers. To be honest, I felt sick being unable to see how abusive lanken society has become to this day – allowing this men to do whatever they just think feel is right. There were days that people thought about long before doing expressiong things. That were the beautiful days of the island nation. Going bck to my child hood days – 3 decades ago, people respected one another very much and respect and dignity of the life was above everything to that time. I really enjoyed it, but it was all because people were more civilized…. then than are today.

Gommanpila the political teenager of all times should learn it let alone today. His arguments have no basis. Thama sammathe sit anunta owa denu mana. Even if he drank doubled simmered water, nothing seems to have helped him to sense the ground realities.

The devil wears Prada.
Gamanpila is an opportunistic crook. He orchestrated the defection of MS and then went back to MR lacking confidence that MS will win. We need leaders today who work with their conscience and have confidence in themselves. This man come across as uncertain of himself and is always looking for a crutch and the one he chose a few weeks back was the wrong one.

esidents and civil organizations in Galle wonder as to what happened to Rs.3000 million that was donated to build a Maternity and Children’s Hospital at Karapitiya.
The hospital was named ‘Helmut Kohl Maternity and Children’s Hospital’ and the foundation was laid for the hospital ten years ago. Rs.20 million had been spent for the foundation. Another loan of 28 million Euros was obtained from a bank in Germany and an agreement was signed by the government to build the hospital.
What happened to this 28 million Euros is unknown and someone has plundered more than Rs.6500 million that had been allocated for the project. This is another ‘Helping Hambantota’ type robbery point out residents in the area.
