Galagoda Atte Gnanasara, the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) who provisionally admitted himself to a Class 1 Luxury Room at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital (SJGH) pending verdict on a Contempt of Court case, remains there despite his sentence and even though there is no surgery scheduled or required.

Dr Susitha Senaratne, the quasi Director of SJGH, earlier declared on Derana TV that the monk would be operated on to remove a 3 cm kidney stone. Senaratne said that the surgery would be performed on August 13th, although it was asserted that it would be done on August 10th.
However sources within SJGH confirm that the staghorn calculus of the kidney found in Gnanasara did not warrant immediate surgery and the Urology and allege that the Transplant Surgeon, Dr Niroshan Seneviratne, a close associate of Senaratne is a co-conspirator of the illusion of planned surgery to perpetuate Gnanasara’s stay in hospital.
Sources say that certain doctors have strived to ensure that “medical reasons” are invented so that surgery need not be performed on Gnanasara even as “new reasons” are recorded on the bed head ticket of the monk to keep him in hospital for an alleged “heart condition”.
It was also reported by Colombo Telegraph that Gnanasara who appeared to be in fit condition was fixed to a cardiac monitor and in spite of his imprisoned state photography of his staged condition was encouraged so that “sympathy photographs” may leak, strengthening the lobbying for a Presidential Pardon.
Senaratne, as has been pointed out by Colombo Telegraph on previous occasions, is functioning as director illegally since the illegal nature of his appointment persuaded court to demand that the Hospital Board suspend him.
Gnanasara has been sentenced to 19 years of rigorous imprisonment on four Contempt of Court charges over an incident that took place on January 25, 2016. The determination was on a case filed by the Attorney General against Gnanasara following a petition submitted to the Appeals Court by the Former Homagama Magistrate and current Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake.

We are sitting by and watching the drama as it unfolds with awe!
How pathetic are we all, just talk talk talk.
No one has the guts to right the wrongs, all those with authority and power to fix this mockery of the Justice system are also watching the whole thing with the rest of us like a Tele drama.
A Tele drama with a very cheap and unintelligent script I must say, yet we continue to endure the horror regardless.
Since 2005 we have slowly been indoctrinated to accept this kind of outrageous bullshit to be the norm and we have learnt to sit back and enjoy it anyway.
Upon all this Hanky-Panky some people are allowed to play with our justice system, the common man is not allowed to make the slightest of mistakes without the police coming down heavily on us. That too we continue to tolerate.
Nothing what is going on in Sri Lanka makes any sense to me, heavy taxation yet those in the parliment continue to enjoy unlimited perks and privileges like never before.
Logic and common sense does not mafter in Sri Lanka anymore.
We have become a nation of loosers, that is my honest feeling.

But our Best Health Minister who is now the Deputy Boss of the WHO in addition to the Health Minister of Yhapalana Lankawe went to Singapore to get his Heart Plumbing renovated.
The Minister, in addition to his big Dentist Job , is a Multi Multi Millionaire with even Family Shipping Company in his Family Trust.
Still the Yahapalana Tax payers had to to fork out LKR 10 Mil, plus SIA Airfares for his Hospital Visit.
Poor Venerable Gnanasara has to get his Kidney Cut Up in Kotte.
Hope they give him an appropriate Anaesthetic.

There is a saying among Buddhist circles that bad health too, is a form of karma, so as a Buddhist monk, you must be well aware of ‘Karma’ . Accordingly, it seems now that your past sins are catching up with you with all the ill health & sufferings from kidney stones & heart ailments. You don’t seem to be the tough physical specimen you used to be. Anyway, it can’t be too bad, after all, you have a comfortable bed (wonder who pays for your hospital bills?) & the expertise of all the top doctors at your disposal while the average man on the street has to sleep under beds or on benches in over crowded hospitals.

A Sri Lanka Sinhala Buddhist Monk….on a hospital bed…still in the holy Buddhist robe…(I presume the robe is holy and can be only worn by ordained priest) …showing off his wrist with intravenous bandage..(perhaps injecting holy water).
Any patient admitted to any hospital in any part of the world …is required to put on the hospital gown..for hygienic purpose.
…who ever is stage managing this think it is a great piece of advertisement for Buddhism or a great piece of PR to get some sympathy ..for this guy to be released from his impending prison sentence.
