Armed forces have been deployed in Grandpass after a well known masjid or Muslim prayer centrein the area was attacked a short while ago. Upto five people injured including two policemen so far, according to reports onsite.
According to eyewitnesses about 10 Buddhist monks suspected to be from the Ravana Balaya group, allegedly attacked the mosque despite the police guard.
The area remains tense after a few houses were also attacked on the Swarna Chaitya road in Grandpass where the mosque is situated.
The attack took place soon after Maghrib or evening prayers, sources told Colombo Telegraph.
The Ravana Balaya group called for its relocation within one month. Security forces personnel have now been stationed around the mosque to assist the police to keep calm.

The Police informed the mosque authorities in the morning that the President wanted them to keep the Mosque open. We were discussing this in the evening when we heard of the monk lead invasion. One Muslim has had his stomach slashed and many Muslim houses have been damaged. The STF have clamped down on any one entering these precints.

(Mirror) A 14 year old girl who was molested by a monk and was placed in the care of Probation Services on a court order is ais to have ‘disappeared’ , according to the child’s grandfather Mr. M. Heen Banda, who is urging the authorities to trace her.
Mr. Heen Banda is a resident of 508 field 34 in Diyabeduma.
When the grandchild. was three months, his daughter Inoka had given him the custody of ths child and gone to the Middle East in search of a job.
Mr. Heen Banda had brought up the child and sent the child to the local school Diyabeduma.
The child who passed with distinction at the 5th grade scholarship examination was keen on studies and was sent to the local temple for English classes where she was molested by a monk.
Consequent to a complaint made to the Bakamuna police, the monk who was from Kalutara area, was produced before the Hingurakgoda courts along with a female who aided and abetted in the crime, and thereafter the child placed in the protection of a Children’s Home while the priest and woman was placed in remand custody on a directive of the Court.
The achild who was then sent to school close to the Probationary Care Home ‘disappeared’ in May ,according to the staff in the Home.
Thereafter the grandfather had complained to the Hingurakgoda, Diyabeduma, Bakamuna police stations, Sp and ASP Habarana but up to now there has been no response.
The authorities of the Children’s Home too have lodge a complaint.
Meanwhile, the monk who was in remand custody has subsequently been released and the grandfather believes that the child is being hidden by the priest.
He urges the authorities to focus due attention on this problem,.

Dear brothers ,
Islam is an art of life, even smiling at a person considered a big charity in Islam, how can you say Islam preaches to kill people. Go check YouTube about converts to Islam especially is western world . Just because of some Culprits in some religion don’t stereotype everyone . Lord Buddha preaches how to live in this earth . He was born in royal family and sacrificed his power in search of truths. He never hold any worldly passions . But in Sri Lanka monks like body Bala sena group and hela urumaya, being a monk and they have worldly passions to rule the country . First of all please destroy the mind set of mine, I and me, it’s suppose to be we, us and ours.
Lord Buddha preached to live a peaceful life but these so called “monks” are planning to take the peaceful lives of so many citizens in all the religions.
Buddhism also proclaims five basic precepts or right practices for all followers. They are 1) practice love, 2) practice generosity and giving, 3) practice contentment, 4) practice truthfulness and 5) practice awareness.
How many of these monks actually practice this.

Pervy Priests, Molesty Monks
old monk liquor
Old Monk is a common booze in India. Tastes like gasoline. Dirty old monks are sadly too common in Sri Lanka today.
One of my friends casually mentioned that his first sexual encounter was with a village monk, behind a Buddha statue. I was like WTF? And he was like, ‘well, I was young and he gave me money for movie tickets’. That didn’t really answer my question, but it makes its own sick sense. Buddhist monks do have power and, paradoxically, money and with that comes sex, almost guaranteed.
I’ve talked about sex and power before, regarding office kukulas, but with monks it’s even worse.
In Sri Lanka we don’t talk about it, but I think we have Catholic style abuse within our own supposedly celibate clergy. Another friend mentioned that a young monk had hung himself in Kandy, over sexual abuse.
None of this is to say that Buddhist monks are bad, on the contrary, Sri Lanka (somewhere in there) preserves a simple and quite practical form of Buddhism. For all the material monks, there are quite a few that you don’t see, meditating. There are also a lot of lay people that practice meditation, who I also consider a part of the Sangha.
I know monks that meditate and follow what the Buddha taught and the fact that they are supported and preserved by this country and tradition is a blessing to all. It’s also a blessing to therapy and science, as this simple type of vippassana meditation (among others) is shown to have real therapeutic and neurological benefits.
Around that core of what the Buddha taught, however, there has a religious institution. Like any institution, this requires institutional safeguards, which Sri Lanka does not really have. However, the media is getting in on the act.
Relevant parts start around 2:50
Neth FM did a sting on one pervy priest and caught him grossly soliciting a girl who was looking for a job. In response, people from the community called in, saying that this guy had a DSK style record. As the radio says, to preserve the dignity of the priesthood these criminals need to be weeded out.
Anyways, my Sinhala is crap, but even I can follow this monk’s transparent passes. The girl has transcribed a basic summary as per below:
So basically, a young woman calls this monk A. Sobitha Thero from Ruwanwella, also know as the Vedahamuduruvo (traditionally a monk with knowledge in ayuruveda, the banishing of spirits etc). Says she really wants to go abroad, Australia would be great, will he help?
The great monk says yes of course, but why not work with me? I travel abroad all the time, need a secretary and the help. The girl hems and haws and says she’s really set on going abroad. He asks her if she’s good looking. The girl stutters and says she maybe she is. The Buddhist monk tells her that life should be fun at this age, says he has an bungalow, vehicles and gem business, says she could have a good time, fun. What kind of fun, asks the girl, I don’t understand. Fun means not to have children, sex you know – there are girls as young as 14 and 15 having fun here, he says.
It seems that this is not a solitary incident. Residents of the Ruwanwella area also called in and complained about the priest and his activities. Neth Fm broke this story on radio and also uploaded a number of videos to Youtube, calling on the fraternity of Buddhist priests to protect their establishment by getting rid of ‘rogues’ such as these.
It’s good that we’re talking about this, but I fear that the dam of damage has yet to break.

Hello everyone,
1. Buddhism:
“The ethical guidelines of the Dhamma naturally tend to foster an attitude of benign tolerance toward other religions and their followers. Though there is no guarantee against the rise of a militant fundamentalism from within Buddhism’s own ranks, the Buddha’s teachings can offer no sanctification, not even a remote one, for such a malignant development.”
2. Islam (an article):
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,175987,00.html
3. Regardless of the current fastest growing religion or non-religion. Growth in a religion can be through converts and births. I would argue conversion through friendly persuasion (such as intellectual discussion)is acceptable, but not via means of manipulation and/or forceful coercion.
4. Note well:
If these attackers were actually monks then they have no clue as to what the teaching’s of the Buddha really are, and their actions are unbecoming of a monk. Furthermore, anyone can easily wear a robe and impersonate a monk; thereby, discrediting them.
But then the question arises why impersonate a monk? I can think of some possibilities; for example,
(a) The non-violent path of Buddhism is well known not only via the study of its doctrine, but more-so through its historical past. Therefore, attacks by people impersonating the Buddhist clergy is a brilliant way of damaging its illustrious past, the present, and possibly its future.
(b) The Buddhist monks of Sri Lanka enjoy a good rapport among the public at large, especially among the Sinhalese Buddhist majority. This rapport has the potential, if applied properly, to even sway the majority against a corrupt government as we have increasingly experienced since independence. Therefore, it stands to reason for a government to break that rapport between the Buddhist clergy and the public. Creating another conflict that the Govt. is swift to correct could gain them popularity among the Muslims, while simultaneously affecting the good rapport the Buddhist clergy enjoy among the majority.
Conclusively, whatever the cause of these attacks, though we need to stop and prevent them – it cannot and should not be achieved via more violence. As M.K. Ghandi so eloquently put, ” An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.”
Take Care

Can’t you see what these Saffron Terrorists are doing? The Buddha’s Balu Sena skin headed Monk-eys (punks) are Buddhist Saffron Terrorists. Buddhism is nothing but Barbarism and should be banned all over the world. These Buddhist Saffron Terrorists should be hung upside down and shot like dogs and all the Buddhist temples should be demolished and destroyed. A Barbaric religion such as Buddhism should not be allowed to continue in this world because it is producing more and more Saffron Terrorists.

Ali-Jinna Shame on you. how can you say Islam trains how to kill ? have you not read the Quran ? you are an ignorant idiot. you will be a waste to any religion. Coward!
Buddha is well known for preaching peace, living in harmony. What the Buddhist monks are following now is for political reasons and political gains. Monks, priests etc, should not be allowed to come in to politics, that is not their purpose.
Who ever who attacks a place of worship are cowards. they don’t have brains, but follow instructions from politicians for their mutual gains.

All these bloody politicians should responsible for these type of issues, they all should know what Muslims are doing in this world, they want to change whole this world Muslims, unfortunately to get their benefits that our politicians they plays the game with this golden country/my motherland, this is one and only country for Sinhalese to live
Why don’t they realize even we can’t keep The Great Buddha’s picture in the Muslim country, but here muslims are enjoying lot, they take all our money by doing illegal business they pays less tax, they brings drugs here to addict our young generation. how they pays tax, you’ll noted the new that Siyam (I’m not sure the name is correct) minimum price is Rs.800/- costly for fair of shoes but he paid custom only for LKR 60/- for each.
This is a Sinhalese Country, please protect this even if you died in this motherland.
No harm to live any religion here but they should respect majority and Buddhism and they should not try to convert this to Muslim Country and should not behave like Saudi Arabians
Giovernment should have some strategy to keep proper ratio of the ethnics otherwise this will verse further

It is very sad to see our country going to the dogs, me being a practising Buddhist who lived and worked in the middle east lived with Muslims like brothers and still continue to live in harmony with them. Who do we depend on when in need? Who have helped us during the warfare? Clearly Muslim countries have for funds and Pakistan being the first country to help during the warfare. Where are most of our Sri Lankans employed, obviously in the middle east! What if they send these people back home we’ll have to beg for food! The whole image of Buddhism being tarnished because of these few thugs undercover behind the robes. Please Sri lankan brothers reflect on this!!! We have already received a blackmark for the weliweriya incident and now this coming along!! President people need you!!

All these Buddhist monks were my chuck golayas once upon a time. Today they have become thugs.
It is high time that the UN should intervene and save the minorities from these bold headed Buddhist Bikkhu punks who continue Barbaric acts in the name of Buddhism.
The Sinhala village idiots go and dump all kinds of food to the temple for these Bastards to wolf down, and once they turn into fat pigs, lazy doing nothing, the big fat bold headed sods come out to show the world what kind of Buddhism they are practicing in Sri Lanka.
Our country will never come out of all these mess as long as these dirty, lazy, racist, Buddhist Monks are allowed to do what they do. These are the morons who destroyed our country right from the beginning. As Sir John Kothalawela once said, these Bikkhus deserve to get TAR applied on their heads.
These so called guardians of Buddhism (bloody crooks) are actually the ones who are pushing the religions down the drain. The WORST among them are the so called big fat bold headed Buddhist punks like the Gandasara.
The main problem is, most of the so called Buddhists in Sri Lanka are idiots. When they see an orange or yellow cloth/robe anywhere, even wrapped on a broomstick, they start bending into different shapes to worship them.
Given a chance, I will not only apply tar on their bold heads but also on their buttocks, and then push the brush inside.
These so called Buddhist monks are not only destroying the religion but also the country. They are the main cause for all the problems in Sri Lanka. They should be made to stand on a line and shot like dogs. The best thing a democratic country can do is, put these Sods in a cage (jail).

This post is not about the superiority of which religion is better. Me being a Muslim I can only say to point out where Islam preachers terrorism and if ur going to point out using Quran or Hadith be it on proper context rather just the verse.
To all the non Muslim brothers and sisters who are living in Sri Lanka see all the Muslim countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Chechniya, Egypt, Iraq, Burma and many are being oppressed, humiliated, mocked and are being violated by the rights to both live and practice our own religion. If we Muslims going to defend our rights to live and practice our religion we are called violators or terrorist. Go to YouTube and see those innocent child, brothers and sisters are massacred. Would you allow the same thing happen to your family members.
Majority in Sri Lankans are Buddhist and we respect your religion and even if your going to practice Buddhism or any religion on any Muslim countries I don’t think Muslims are going to do to you what we Muslims are going through.
Think of the Muslim friends and families you know before taking sides on the hypocrisy of medias. Medias are full of lies. Don’t let what is happening to Muslims around the world happen in Sri Lanka.
Please read the Quran to know what Islam is all about.
PS
My email ID is ashique.ilahee@gmail.com I challenge any one to point out anything what Islam says is not logical and not acceptable. Be it on women covering themselves, slaughtering of the cow, 4 wives in Islam or anything what Islam says is not acceptable and not permitted as proper way of life or , argument based or faults in Islam itself or anything I’ll be happy to answer.

I’ve been fascinated with religion for a long time. My mother was a Buddhist, my dad a Catholic. And most than 50% of my friends are Muslims. With myself being a Catholic , I’d say there’s a lot of extremists for every religion. But these extremists think that what they do is for the right cause because they haven’t grasped the basic root to what they are following. I’ll be honest with you, I’ve seen places where the Muslims are asked to kill the non believers, and I don’t understand it much, but this is not about that. Buddhism is a religion of peace. To let go of whatever hatred or attachment there is you have towards another man or object . Please do correct me if I’m wrong. But these fools are taking their anger out on innocent people and therefore destroying the main belief that they follow in the first place. These extremists are people that who want power, and they got it by basing their beliefs on a simple religion like Buddhism. No religion is to blame for this, so fellow Christians and Muslims who had been attacked recently, don’t think all Buddhists are responsible for this. These cult worshippers are the ones responsible :)
/
Ashique / August 11, 2013
There is also another verse in the Quran which states if an innocent is killed it is if they have killed the whole of mankind. Why no one speaks of it.
The non Muslims which they put forward on the net quoting out of the context verses and claim as if they know what Islam preaches and say Islam is a religion of hatred and violence. Read the whole context and you will understand what Quran preaches. Yes, certain verses mention, to kill where you see them and it is normal commen sense. In the time of war before enemies kill you, kill the enemies or else you will be killed. I ask a question in times of war would anyone stand and wait till they kill you and then you kill.
Islam also says not to kill innocent women, child or old people during wars. Did you know that. What religion speaks of this? Islam tells us a way of life for every circumstances. Read the Quran and you will really know what Islam preaches.
