Sihala Ravaya exchanging words with members of the Muslim community in Grandpass last week.

According to eyewitnesses about 10 Buddhist monks suspected to be from the Ravana Balaya group, allegedly attacked the mosque despite the police guard.

The area remains tense after a few houses were also attacked on the Swarna Chaitya road in Grandpass where the mosque is situated.

The Ravana Balaya group called for its relocation within one month.  Security forces personnel have now been stationed around the mosque to assist the police to keep calm.

only men who want to fool around convert to islam bcos they can officially keep 4 women….

besides this prayer business needs to be finally resolved.

muslims have a habit of putting up prayer centers which later turn into mosques and people like farook ends up writing articles of a historical association and then it becomes a right …. we are well accostumed to thse muslim tactics.

therefore i suggest that the authorities give a clear ruling on how many mosques can exist.

why only a ruling on the number of mosques? Why not on the number of pansalas? How about statues placed obstructing traffic in every nook and cranny? Some of these are bound to cause tragic accidents.

Bamiyan Buddha statue was just a landmark edifice at the gates of India erected in the times of Menender and Sandacotta, it has no religious values in Buddhism nor they were currently venerated by the lots of that land, either they decay and ruin or destroy is not a problem to Buddhism. Buddha never taught iconoclasm.

        Jessica,

First and foremost, Bin Laden has no status either as a leader of Muslims or as an Islamic scholar. He spent most of his youth in the US and was used by the US a proxy to fight the then USSR. The Americans created a monster and had to take him out.

The Taliban too was a creation of the Pakistanis with the tacit support of Americans with the sole objective of fighting the USSR, they were trained by the Pakistani Intelligence and armed by the Americans. Later on they turned their guns on the very people who armed them.

When you sow the wind you reap the whirlwind so the saying goes. the Bharmiyan statues were destroyed by a bunch of fanatics. Fortunately Islam is not represented by them, though people like you conveniently forget there are over 1.6 BN Muslims and a few thousand Taliban.

Of course we don’t expect you to agree because if you do you wont have a reason to hate. Hating come naturally to people like you, so go on , hate until you go to your grave!

Sir Winston Churchill has been recognized as one of the greatest men of the late nineteenth and of the twentieth century. Following quotes were taken from pages 248-250 of first edition, Volume II of Churchill’s “The River War”, published by Longmans, Green & Company, 1899.

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!
Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and
refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step, and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the
strong arms of science, the science against which it (Islam) has vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

Visualize how true his thinking was.

there are many detractors of Churchill. He was a loser in many areas of life. that apart Muslim contribution to the modern world is out there for those who wish to be enlightened. The is no point in elaborating on the achievements of the Muslims. An inquiring mind will certainly find sources of information.

Of course racists will not wish to waste time on finding the truth because the truth is against them.

Guys, Muslims helped the Sinhalese king defend the port of Colombo from the Dutch. In the recent history Muslims have contributed enormously in fighting the LTTE and have even sacrificed their lives. I am disgusted by the acts of all these “bala sena” to instil hatred towards Muslims. In fact even genetically they are our brothers because the Arabic traders married local women when they settled here. So please don’t go around making trouble like this. I am a Sinhalese Buddhist but I don’t see any reason why Muslims and Sinhalese should fight against each other.

Leave the differences in religion such as existence of god to individual discretion. Each one of us is entitled to our own views. We can’t impose our view on others. Buddhism has the quality of “ehi passi” which invites others to come and see for themselves. It has never been a religion to forcefully enforce on others. So Buddhists please behave.

Changing name is not a requirement to embrace Buddhism.

On January 25th 2013, a nineteen year old Muslim boy named Muhammad Subpras joined the monkhood in Buddha sasana as ‘Thalangama Nagitha’. Chief Monk Saddha Mangala at ‘Shri Lumbini Viveka Asuna’ of Koswatta Thalangam says, one day, the said young man had come to his temple with his mother and asked him whether the young man could be admitted to sasana a a monk. The chief monk had told the mother and son that Buddhism do not worry about ones race, cast or religion but parents permission is a must. Therefore the young man must obtain his fathers permission. Family members of Subpras say they had granted permission for Subpras to be become monk very very reluctantly. They have granted permission because of his pestering insistence.

Chief monk Saddha Mangala says there are many young and old persons who had become monks at ‘Shri Lumbini Viveka Asuna’. But he had fetched non of them to his temple. They all came themselves on their own will with their parents and asked for monk-hood. That’s a total contrast to proselytizing Buddhists to Abrahamic religions. Among the samanera are two Muslims.

You cannot be biased towards any religion because What most people fail to realize is when you classify citizens of Sri Lanka it comprises of Sinhalese,Tamil,Burger,Christians and Muslims. So my query being why is there a divide. It’s true there have been thousands of Tamils,Sinhalese and other ethnicity’s that were brutally killed over the duration of the war.So how was this any different from any other war?The war may have started for legitimate reasons during the time where Tamil oppression was prevalent but it continued for all the wrong reasons, mostly due to profit and other incentives in mind. However as a Sri Lankan I could confidently say most information about what is actually happening within the country is misinformed and biased. If you want to see how much conflict or tension there is,fly down to the tropical island yourself, where you will find nothing of the sort.Tamils,Sinhalese,Christians and Muslims get along without any problem which I can vouch for through personal experience and having close acquaintances from most ethnicity’s.So my question is,the basis for all this tension, is it political and financial incentives of individuals? Which is disconsolate indeed. It is as useless to fight against the interpretations of ignorance as to whip the fog.Open your eyes, see for yourself and not cloud your judgement with mendacity.
p.s-The so called Monks who indulge in violence and other disgraceful activities cannot be deemed Buddhist in any way as it conflicts with everything in Buddhism, hence do not generalize due to the actions of a group of ignorant extremist, find the root cause of this charade and address it instead of deviating from the problem at hand.

There is no question BBS was out of line. Indeed I have personally written authorities to bring laws that enable disrobing of these ugly monks.

Although there seems to be some concern an extreme Moslem sect known as “Whabi” is trying to make its way into Sri Lanka.

Just as we do everything possible to dispose of BBS, the Moslem community and it leaders must do everything to remove extreme elements from their community. Instead of hiding this issue an open an honest debate must take place. I know the Moslem community is quite capable of solving issues amicably as previous experience shows.

( Pure Buddhism is The Philosophy of Noble Gautama Buddha)

    The Steps of the Buddha
Rev. Jeffrey Symynkywicz, April 7, 2002
A story is told that, early in his ministry, a delegation of seekers came to Prince Gautama, to sit at his feet and to receive his words of wisdom. They were very impressed by all that the somewhat mysterious young man had to say, until one of them finally asked the prince, “Who are you, anyway? Are you a god?”

“No,” the prince is said to have replied.

“Are you a saint?” asked another.

    “No,” the prince replied.

    “Are you a prophet?”

    “No, not a prophet.”

“Well, then,” all the pilgrims cried at once, “who are you, then?”

And very calmly, the story goes, the Buddha replied: “I am awake.” That’s what the word “Buddha” means, literally: to be awake.

You all be honest yourself, see what’s happenning around the world everywhere it’s problem created by Muslims, due to dishonest to the other nations you all are killing by American’s and the other nations of this world.

Be honest don’t be try to becoming and old fox, you are having a journey to convert whole this world in to Muslims which will never be achieved.

Allah has given good path we all to follow but you converted that for your insincere.

Muslims will be killed everyday untill you stop going this dishonest journey,

Stop invading other ethnic countries but live with others while you respecting others then you will get respect from them.

You all are insulting to our superhuminity, but be care Sinhalese will never be tolerance when you all are going too cunning & you got to know that we don’t care about politicians and their powers.

Hay Fox’s, can we go to the Makkama, but any one can go to Tooth Relic Temple, Adams peak, Bethlehem wherever it is..

You’re selling drugs but it’s prohibitted for Muslims

You’re trying to populate Muslims, but is it possible in Muslim country for other ethnics/religion

When we go to Arabian country its required to dress your dress, but is there any restrictions here even with a risk with your ladies dress

Think twice, again again.. again.,,, thousand times, be honest and live peacefully with others, be honest, respect majority, stop invades of other country.

We love you all, but you only think your self, you have huge population around the world, but we are alone, Sinhalese/Buddhist has only this country help us protect this country honestly

@Imran – sad to see that even after all this like most Muslims of this country you have chosen to live in your hallucination – sorry to mention, even God can not enlighten you- lost for good with the rest..

Muslims must stop showing off ,& live a simple life if they want to live in peace in countries like Sri Lanka and Burma, without arousing the jealousy of the extremists, as their culture is so ,it is very integral in them.
    ——————————–
Go & listen to what burmese- Wirathu the devil in disguise as a noble Monk has to say.. he is very much venomous towards Muslims wealth in a part of his speech—- it would be rather beneficial to spend it in charity towards God , not just among Muslims ,but all faiths ,people are struggling for a meal a day, some with terminal illness can not afford medicines, some are homeless, some still in refugee camps, some in debts struggling to pay back ,, do you think God is obligated to protect those who are arrogant and egotistic with thier wealth ?

Let us examine what God says about this..

    Quran:
    =========
Do not walk proudly on the earth; your feet cannot tear apart the earth nor are you as tall as the mountains.” (Al-Qur’an, 17:37).”
    ———–
Have you noted the one whose god is his ego? Consequently, GOD sends him astray, despite his knowledge, seals his hearing and his mind, and places a veil on his eyes. Who then can guide him, after such a decision by GOD? Would you not take heed?

6.25 Moral Teachings of Islam- Humility & Dignity
    E-mail Print PDF
    6.25 Humility and Dignity

Host: Can you explain the meaning of the term humbleness in Islam?

    Jamal Badawi:
    =================
Humbleness can be divided into two basic categories: one is humbleness before God and two, is humbleness with the creators of God. Humbleness with God implies faith in God and submission to His will this allows for one to follow what He ordained. Humbleness with society includes the qualities that make one unassuming, modest, lack of pride, lack of boastfulness or excessive self assertiveness.

In accordance with the Quran the only foundation for varying degrees of honor among people is their piety. An example is found in (49:13) O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).” Piety and God consciousness are internal yet modesty and humbleness are observable traits of a believer. The Quran describes the type of people who are loved most by God and who themselves also love God in (5:54) as being humble and lowly with the believers. The Quran addresses the Prophet and says (15:88)”lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.”

The Quran does not only instruct the Prophet but instructs all believers not to over praise ourselves (53:32) “Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil.” This particular point is at the heart of the malaise that we find in the present civilization. People don’t want to be themselves anymore but always have masks in order to appear different from their reality. People spend so much time trying to be someone else when they could spend a tenth of that time being themselves

Now you call it the Noble Quran – once more copying the Christian description of the Holy Bible. Once again, the usual coterie of Islamic lunatics are screaming “Islam is the most peaceful and compassionate religion of love and brotherhood. Have you ever wondered why Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism waste their time 24×7 giving Certificates to their own religion. It is not necessary – because they are religions based on Love, Tolernace to other religions and views and also Brotherhood. Islam is not. It is a religion of blood, the sword, revenge and curses. Even today the stone age feature of killing by stoning is given honour in the annual pilgrimage in Makkah.

Who are these idiots trying to fool? From the beginning till today Islam continues to be a religion of hatred, revenge and blood – the only so-called religion to honour these beastly qualities. Look at the current record of this religion and their “peaceful believers”

      – On Eid night’s prayers last week 11 Muslims in Quetta, Pakistan were slaughtered and 27 others bad mangled beyond help by a suice Muslim suicide bomber simply because those whom he killed belonged to another
section of believes – in Islam itself.

      – On the same day 40 were killed instantly many hundreds maimed for life in Mosques, markets and Cafes in Baghdad. In the month of Eid alone over 700 Muslims were killed in Iraq by other Muslims although the killer/s personally had no quarrel with those that died and wounded. Some “religion of peace and love”

These are only to examples. Not a day passes without Islamics harming those of other faiths – even theirs – every day in almost every Muslim country in the world. How can such a religion be considered peaceful?

Now many Muslim readers in these pages call their Allah to curse Sri Lanka and harm the Sinhalese. No God worth his name will answer a call to cause damage to others. Instead what Muslims must ask their Allah is to change their own ways not to wish ill and conspire to harm the other religions within the societies they live in. That will be more like a peaceful religion.

Wherever there are too many Muslims there is trouble.

    e.g.
    Syria
    Egypt
    Pakistan
    Israel
    Palestine
    Iraq
    Iran
    Indonesia
    Bangladesh
    Burma
    Libya
    Saudi
    Armenia
    Bosnia
    Ajodhya
    London
    Kazakhstan
    Uzbekistan
    etc., etc.

Why not India??? Because majority hindus live in india?? In india itself more than 100 terrorist groups are non muslims. LTTE is still exist in India. LTTE is the most dangerous sue side terrorist organization in the world who killed thousands of innocent human beings.
In saudi Arabia there is no violence or terrorism. People live in Saudi Arabia peacefully.

All over the muslim countries terrorists are NATO forces who are christians. In India RSS, Sivasena, LTTE, etc etc are the terrorists….you should check the CBI reports. All the indian terrorist attack carried out there were involvement by either, RSS or Sivasena. Including the recent Budhgaya temple attack.

The Shahada is the Muslim profession of faith and the first of the ‘Five Pillars’ of Islam.  The word shahada in Arabic means ‘testimony.’  The shahada is to testify to two things:
    (a)   Nothing deserves worship except Allah.
    (b)  Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
A Muslim is simply one who bears witness and testifies that “nothing deserves worship except Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” One becomes a Muslim by making this simple declaration.
It must be recited by every Muslim at least once in a lifetime with a full understanding of its meaning and with an assent of the heart.  Muslims say this when they wake up in the morning, and before they go to sleep at night.  It is repeated five times in the call to prayer in every mosque.  A person who utters the shahada as their last words in this life has been promised Paradise.
Many people ignorant of Islam have misconceived notions about the Allah, used by Muslims to denote Allah. Allah is the proper name for God in Arabic, just as “Elah”, or often “Elohim”, is the proper name for God in Aramaic mentioned in the Old Testament.  Allah is also His personal name in Islam, as “YHWH” is His personal name in Judaism. However, rather than the specific Hebrew denotation of “YHWH” as “He Who Is”, in Arabic Allah denotes the aspect of being “The One True Deity worthy of all worship”.  Arabic speaking Jews and Christians also refer to the Supreme Being as Allah.

Tharanga ,,, first and foremost the comment is a translation, and besides when did you turn Siddhartha into a God?

Does Buddha mean God ? what does Buddha mean?

what you guys follow is what some off shoot Monk wrote on imagination called Theravaism ,it has nothing to do with The Philosophy of Buddhism ..

There is no God belief in Buddhism – the entire Philosophy is based on reality & logic , which I have always bowed my head in respect , when you mixed it with Mythology & superstitions & traditions the very Thing The Noble Buddha advised to avoid ,when you mix Mythology,Superstition & traditions, and make by which you turn him to a Mythical lord & God ,which he never claimed to be , you destroy the beauty , the very essence of his noble teaching & end up with a pseudo schism which is no way akin to The Enlighten Noble ones teachings.

@Tharanga if you look yourself in the Mirror & ask who is stupid you will get the answer.

I dare will say That Buddhism was never a religion & never can be a religion ,it is a Mystic philosophy of Prince Siddhartha- and the word Buddha, means one who is enlighten , one who is awakened from illusions of this temporary world & in pali Buddha does not mean Lord or God ,you stupid fellow, even among the Muslims they have Mystic Philosophers who are referred as dervish- dervish and sufism are way of life not religions , but it does not mean , a Muslim ,Christian ,or Jew can not follow Dervish /Sufism or buddhism- that is the beauty about the Three phliosphies while keeping your religion you can still adopt and follow the three ways of life,, the concept of I the ego is completely diminished in all three Philosophies- do not tell me what to say about Buddhism , you do not have an authority to do so , for that matter , not a single religion or philosophy is yours or your ancestors property nor anyones, not mine not yours not anyones ,but only the true founder has the right to make such a statement. Trying to teach your grand mother to suck eggs, calling people names ,when you yourself is ignorant about your own beliefs,,

and BTW , the worst third world war criminals who committed the unthinkable crime on humanity were Buddhists,, you were not even in your dad’s Bxxxxxx s am sure then , go and ask them,, and you are so dumb ,you are zero plus zero with world topics & general knowledge ,you are plain programmed idiots filled with Venom and prejudice that you are blinded by this poison so much even if someone show you white , you will without batting an eyelid call it black,, so go to hell.

Those who threw stones to Sinhala houses must also be arrested and punished.

It is good to remove this mosque. The longer it stays here the more violence it creates for the area.

People in the area only want to live peacefully without screams every morning, evening and night and violence.

There are no takers for your point of view. The learned Buddhist Clergy has condemned. Even a nationalist politician like Patali Champika has condemned it. So has the world. You can live in your make believe world where there are only Buddhists living in this country.

You live an isolated life abroad and probably have no social life. Also I am sure people in the West will not tolerate your biased views. Keep writing. We need people like you here as well. Life would be boring without you!

    Ali Jinnah
    Ur not a real muslim
Do u know what is Islam
The name of this religion is Islam, the root of which is Silm and Salam which means peace. Salam may also mean greeting one another with peace. One of the beautiful names of Allah is that He is the Peace. It means more than that: submission to the One Allah, and to live in peace with the Creator, within one’s self, with other people and with the environment. Thus, Islam is a total system of living. A Muslim is supposed to live in peace and harmony with all these segments; hence, a Muslim is any person anywhere in the world whose obedience, allegiance, and loyalty are to Allah, the Lord of the Universe.

    Fresh tensions at Grandpass
    August 11, 2013

    grandpas2
Mobs gathered at Grandpass this afternoon resulting a fresh tensions near a mosque which came under attack last night.

Riot police and the Special Task Force were deployed to strengthen security around the mosque and disperse mobs gathering on the streets.

A meeting was also held at the Religious Affairs Ministry to reach a solution to the issue.

Government Ministers Champika Ranawaka, Rishard Baduhudeen and Deputy Minister Faizer Mustapha visited the location and met members of the Muslim and Sinhala communities separately to discuss their concerns.

Buddhist monks and their supporters are demanding that the temporary mosque be relocated but Muslims in the area are refusing to budge.

CCTV footage showed mobs led by monks attack the mosque last night and some nearby Muslim houses. Muslims retaliated and a few Sinhalese houses were attacked.

The US Embassy in Colombo also issued a statement expressing concerns on the attack on the Grandpass Mosque last night.

“This incident is particularly troubling in light of a number of recent attacks against the Muslim community in Sri Lanka. Targeting any place of worship should never be permitted and we urge calm from all sides. We call for prosecution of perpetrators in this attack and an end to religious-based violence. The right of all Sri Lankans to practice the religion of their choice should be protected,” the Embassy said.

The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka (MCSL) meanwhile condemned unequivocally the blatant attack on the mosque in Grandpass by some “racist elements” while the Muslims were engaged in prayer yesterday.

“We call upon His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka to immediately order the Police and the Defense Authorities to maintain law and order and bring the perpetrators to justice without prejudice or favor. This attack on the mosque has taken place in the presence of a large number of Police personnel including some senior police officials. Their failure to intervene is a blatant violation of the fundamental rights of Muslims in Sri Lanka. This can also set a dangerous precedent for future violence and lawlessness in the country,” the Muslim Council said.

The Council also said that it is regrettable that the hate speeches and hate campaigns continue to grow unabated.

“The Muslims and their leadership have shown great restraint amidst numerous provocations by a number of extremist groups in Anuradhapura, Dambulla, Balangoda, Mahiyangana and several other locations during the past several months,” the Muslim Council said.

It warned that failure on the part of the Police to ensure law and order will result in further violence and drag the country in to another period of turmoil. (Colombo Gazette)
