Homicidal Attacks & Robberies Of Public Funds

By Fr. Sarath Iddamalgoda –

Fr. Sarath Iddamalgoda

Even after a lapse of a thousand days the Executive President has  failed to bring before the law the culprit who instructed Zahran to execute the Easter Sunday bomb attack, although a promise was made by him to the voters during his election campaign that he would do so in two weeks once elected into power.

Now due to this failure, an increasing number of citizens in our country have cleared in their minds every doubt and confirmed to themselves that the Easter Sunday massacre was in fact a plot organized by the power hungry politicians solely for the purpose of having an  easy and quick access to the seat of power.

Eventually, along with that realization, there is one more lesson that we citizens can learn from our immediate past. It is that the Easter Sunday suicide bombings were not the only homicidal attacks carried out by the so-called leaders of our country as a political weapon since independence. There have been others who did not have the opportunity to hold the reins of power but still used killings as a means of seeking power.

The political stance that successive governments have followed in opting for all-out war rather than persistently pursuing a political solution to the problem of the North and East, is an example of the mind set of our power crazy politicians. They found that the strategy of war is more rewarding to them than a non-violent political strategy.

Today, it is disheartening to observe that massacres to achieve political ends have developed into a cultural phenomenon in our country.

There is another lesson that I wish that the Christian community will learn. Currently, a very heavy campaign is being carried by the Church to seek Justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday attack. Those involved ought be credited for doing this impressive work.

But, it seems to overlook all the other massacres committed for their political motives, in the North, East and also in the deep South, by Sri Lankan rulers in the past.

Further, let me emphasize that when looked at from a Christian perspective, it is indeed a Faith demand. For all those victims were also children of the same Father.

In this short statement, my focus is on the subject of homicides committed by our rulers for political ends and my wish is that they be expelled from the political scene.

However, they ought to be expelled not only for these massacres committed by them but also for the robbery and embezzlement of public funds and amassing massive amounts of wealth for themselves and their families.

Easter sunday bomb attack was killing the family children of the living God while they were worshipping their loving creator who breathed life into them. Power and money craze tends to deviate murderers from required confession and asking for mercy and forgiveness. Their hellish hereafter gets hidden from them as they invent more methods to persecute the church which is unafraid.

It arguable that successive govt. did not want to end the civil war as it was beneficial to them by blaming the state of the economy on the ‘war effort’, as well as, profiting from arms deals. It is also known that the Rajapakse regime profited massively from the war as well, before ending it. Subsequent failing popularity of MR, in particular, was boosted by GR coming forward as the ‘no nonsense’ administrator, the only capable person of neutralising a new threat, the Islamic terrorism, whether such a threat actually existed or not in SL at the time.

Premadasa, in his wisdom, armed the terrorists to fight the Indian army which came to help us & it has been said that MR paid the LTTE to intimidate Tamils from voting for RW. A few years ago, a disgraced IT company, Cambridge Analytica, which provided the Trump campaign with data to identify & target swing voters, was caught in a sting operation by a Chanel 4 News where the CEO boasts of questionable strategies to win elections. The bait for this was an agent from a ‘wealthy political party in SL, trying to regain power’. Although, meant to be fictitious, Cambridge Analytica would do its home work, therefore, the prospective customer had to be credible & its obvious from the details, who the agent seems to represent. When all types of underhand strategies are possible, I wonder if the whole Easter bombing episode was orchestrated by the Rajapakse regime, sacrificing a gullible bunch of ragtag jihadists who had been on the payroll of the Defence Ministry, to con the voters . It only benefitted GR & certainly not the jihadists, who are still unaccounted for. Food for thought?

    Dear Fr. Iddamalgoda
    .
When a crime is committed, the first thing any investigator looks at is the motive.
    .
In the case of the Easter, bombing incident, Muslim fundamentalists had no motive to carry out the bombings on Christians.
    .
Let me remind you that during the numerous attack on Muslims by the Sinhala Buddhists starting in 2011, it was always the minority Christians who stood by the Muslims and at all times they appealed to the Sinhala Buddhists to resist violence towards their fellow minority.
    .
In my honest opinion, there was no motive to bomb the churches.
    .
If the Muslim fundamentalist had bombed temples, I would say there was a justifiable motive.
    .
Anyway, it was clear that there was a hidden hand playing the game. We all know who benefitted from the tragedy. That is enough motive, don’t you think?
    .
Yet your cardinal and most of you Christians and Catholics sided with, put your trust upon, and voted the wolf who appeared to be the most obvious beneficiary from the chaos.
    .
Besides the Easter bombing issue, you all knew his character.
    .
When you voted for such a man what did you expect?

    Continued
    .
How stupid and blind can a whole community be?
    .
I think it is payback and a big eyeopener, particularly, to that idiotic cardinal, he was a blind and shameless MaRa supporter in the past.
    .
Now he is eating humble pie crying out, like a bloody goat. Serves him right.
    .
It had to cost almost 300 lives for the Cardinals’ eyes to open. What a shame.
    .
Next time try before voting for a cold-blooded murderer, think twice.
    .
Refer to the bible for answers not Derana TV.
    .
These politicians play all these dirty tricks on us because they can get away with the crimes. It is our fault, we are all so stupid and have IQs tending towards that of apes.
    .
Our only gain will be to learn from the bitter lesson and never repeat such idiocy ever again.

Human Touch, The lesson to learn is not just vote as tricked and stupid but commandment is to be wise as serpents. Beyond the vote, murderers, liars and robbers need to hear the message of the creator’s love for them if not responded to will alienate themselves of a good afterlife. They must know and believe that they can never bomb God, who is willing to give them all the treasures of heaven far exceeding all their greedy robberies on earth and gifts to the sangha.

        I don’t get your point.
Don’t you think everyone needs to make the right choices in this present life?
Don’t you think that you have to keep the religious stuff aside when you are dealing with the likes of Mara and co?
No amount of good can influence or save a murderous thieving deceiving and lying set of bastards from damnation. It is like trying to save satan by being good to him.
As such you have to keep your distance. I say don’t done with the devil, it can only pit you in trouble.
So let us cut the gibberish and call a Rajapaksa a Rajapaksa and never put an iota of trust in them.
