I Spent Rs.30 Million On Rathana Thera’s Temple: Gotabaya

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa has stated that he spent Rs. 30 million to construct the JHU Parliamentarian venerable Athuraliye Rathana thera’s temple. However, the money he refers to as ‘his’ are the funds of the Urban Development Authority.

Gotabaya RathanaDelivering a speech at the opening of a 187 year-old building of the Sri Jayawardenapura Vidyalaya in Kotte which was renovated under the sponsorship of the Defense and Urban Development Ministry, Gotabaya had said that it cost him Rs. 30 million to transform the land located in Gothami Road, Borella into a beautiful temple.

“The land was given by the President and I carried out the land reclamation. It took us two years to complete the process. . . We however did it for the Buddha Shasana” he said while laughing. He furthermore states the constructions were carried out by personnel of the Civil Defense Force.

Meanwhile the renovations of the archaic school building that was handed over to the students by him at the event on Friday, had been carried out by Navy personnel.

It appeared like a petty attempt made to subtly get back at the JHU monk who was instrumental in influencing the other party members to take the decision to quit the UPFA coalition.

The JHU today announced they have decided to support common candidate Maithripala Sirisena at the upcoming elections and added they would be signing an MoU with him within the next couple of days.

Fuku – Congratulations on your poll vaulting.

Its good to see finally you abandoning the sinking ship.

Gon Gota says he spent 30m as if its his own 7eleven savings.
Rathana hamuduruwo must be applauded for his courageous stance.

Mara is finally falling thanks to his arrogant fool bro Gota.
Even Namal sensed the would be outcome and advised Mara but he didn’t pay any attention because Mara went blind with unlimited powers.

Just mouthing Buddhism wont do. Mara didn’t even honor Buddha’s teaching and the result is – Destruction at the end.

I agree with you – Mara thought he could buy anything and anyone.

Buddhism in Lanka is CORRUPTED by the Rajapaksa brothers.

Buddhism is being disgraced, divided and destroyed by Mahinda and Gotabaya Rajapaksa who have POLITICIZED and corrupt the sanga as never before.

There are too many EMPTY RITUALS and new Buddhist statues performed by the Rajapaksa brothers who have bribed and CORRUPTED large sections of the Sangha while destroying the VINAYA and DHAMMA.

After Rajapaksa is defeated Sobith Theor will need to RESCUE BUDDHISM in Lanka which today is looked down upon in the World because of the actions of Bodu Bala Sena which with Rajapaksa’s patronage has been attacking minority communities. Like the Pope who launched a campaign to clean up the Catholic church and promot SIMPLE LIVING rather than luxurious living Sobith Thero must also turn away from the Materialism and LUXURY LIving that the Corrupt Rajapaksa brothers have encouraged in the Sangha..

I have discovered a new syndrome that affects human:
The humans affected by this syndrome show the most hyper-inflated sense of self inflicted pride coupled with the smallest brain! This syndrome almost always runs in the family and is called Gota Syndrome.

First and foremost the Buddhism practiced by the Sinhalese is an insult to the true preaching’s of Lord Buddha. The Sinhalese are converts to Buddhism thanks to Sangamitta Thera from India. Buddhism is not about planting Buddha Statues in every street corner, by the side of dirty drains, next to meat/fish markets and alcohol shops or close to other locations of other religious worship creating disassociation and a nuisance. Buddhism is not about planting Buddha Statues by three wheeler drivers and administration of the same by such low caste principled yakko type fellows. Buddhism is not about blasting pirith on loudspeakers desecrating the silence of the environment. The statue of Lord Buddha is not a Christmas tree for an ignorant shameless population of Sinhalese to decorate with sparkling colorful lights to gain attraction. Buddhism is not a pedestal for a group of Mahanayake theros to create divisional politics and caste based nikayas such as the Siam, Malwatte, Asgiriya that play and pander with the dirty politics and racist policies of Sinhalese political leaders such as SWRD Bandaranayake and very recently Mahinda Rajapakse. Buddhism is not about these Mahanayake Theras to keep conveniently silent when thousands of Tamils were being murdered on the basis of patriotism and heroism in riots of 1915, 1956, 1958, 1977, 1983 and finally State genocide of 2009 by Sinhalese and only make an issue that Lord Buddha’s photographs need to be banned from being published in Newspapers because fish and meat or alcohol can be wrapped in the those same newspapers. Buddhism is not about banning meat and alchohol and even theatres on Poya days while Sinhalese are seen ganging up at supermarkets and shops the day before filling their larders with meat and alcohol. When Rev. Sangamitra Thera converted these uncivilized Sinhalese to Buddhism, little did he realize that these monkeys would one day abuse and use this religion as a tool for criminalizing society and manipulate the same for religious intolerance and racism. It is sad that India, being the true land of Lord Buddha and having the most exemplary Buddhists of the world fails to make a statement of the level of abuse and shameless indiscipline that is perpetrated by the Sinhalese in the name of Buddhism in Sri Lanka bringing untold shame on this great son of India Lord Buddha.
Therefore, Sinhalese are just a shameless race that lives on stating that they are Buddhists to show the world that they are civilized but actually otherwise. The UN reports and the new UNHRC resolution show ample proof of this.

If Gota spent 30 Million to build a Temple, All the accumulated ‘Ping’ or Merits will come to Him very soon.

If however the Money that He spent, came from the Taxpayers, It is They who will accumulate the Merits, after the forthcoming Election.

Buddhism is all about ‘Letting Go’ of Material Possessions, and Karma will Take care of the results!

More, the money stolen from the people (in broad daylight). Could somebody come up with a list of properties and investments by the brothers and the clan match that to their income? Hopefully, M. Sirisena’s “promise of protection” is what it is defined as, “from foreign vengeance”. This will still leave the doors open to recover the loot, and the our prisons and inmates are certainly protected from “foreign treats”. If M. Sirisena means “Immunity from justice”, I would support the current regime through a third term, which will allow the time for a more meaningful democratic movement to gather momentum and realize due justice. “Justice delayed” is better than “justice never”.

This statement of Gotha clearly shows that the Rajapakse family think the government funds are their own personal funds. Who is Gotha, after all he just a Secretary of a Ministry not even a Minister. He is a paid servant of the PEOPLE. How dare he claims that this is his money?

Gota did not work at a gas station in the US. He was the UNIX system administrator for the Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Get your facts straight before commenting. This said I am not a fan of the brothers however one should comment on policies of the current regime rather than sling mud with false facts.

“The land was given by the president…………………………”
The president does NOT have the power to award state land to anyone.
And, Gota does NOT have the authority to award state funds for construction of any temple.

Should we restore these people again to positions of responsibility, by re-electing this president?

This is a classic example of how the Rajapaksas have taken ownership of the country’s coffers. How arrogant and how daring?

It is the stupid people who gave the power and the arrogance to the corrupt dictator and his family to behave and talk as if they are the owners of the country.

Some one told me that navy personnel are working in the rock pit where rocks are saved for these construction work and they are punished if anything goes wrong as they would be punished the usual way that forces personnel are punished for any mistakes.

The 30 million expected to buy people, that is not for Buddhism.

It is noted and not a surprise, that the Rajapaksa’s show entitlement to the people’s money. They talk like it all belongs to THEM, and we know they act like that.

“I spent 30 million”? Not your money Goat man, your money is safely stashed somewhere off shore.
This entire family and their attitude, is disgusting.

“……. We however did it for the Buddha Shasana…..”

Now that is a load of poppycock! This Ratana chap is not Buddha Sasana. He is a common folk person, camouflaging in a robe, and pretending to be a monk. If not what would he be doing stuck amongst a load of petty thieves masquerading as MPs or public servants. All liars and pretenders.

How dod Gota got 30M to spend on someone’s private property. Is that Gota’s own money or public purse assets? Which ever way Gota is culpable either for not paying taxes, or for not protecting public purse.

Rs 30 Mil is only 200 K and a bit with the Dollar down.

Norwegians as I understand renovated at least a dozen temples in Elite turf.just before Gnanissara was awarded scholarships,

Wonder Rathna Sadu also visited Norway or at least the Norway turf in Cinnamon Gardens,

Because Ratna Sadu and the Abithaya (lay helper ) are going to be the # 1 & # 2 star speakers on CC Sira’s platforms

But only if CC Sira signs an agreement to accept all of the JHU manifesto and give a written guarantee that they will be implemented in full ,before CC Sira abdicates.

No wonder the Vellala TNA feels gutted.

With Rathna Sadu guarding CC Sira, the Dalits wouldn’t have to worry about their current peace, freedom and the ability to make a few bob.

That is if Rathna Sadu hasn’t also gone up market and joined the Elite.

Ven Rathana who vehemently opposed Chandrika and Ranil and their governments when they jointly supported PTOMS and courted LTTE. He backed MR to win the war and to govern a few years after that.

It is patently clear that during the last few years, Ven Rathana has immensely benefited from Rajapakse family governance. And at that time he had no qualm against dictatorship trend of Mahinda Rajapakse and the rule by Rajapakse family.

All seemed to have changed once Champika was removed from being the Minister in charge of the Ministry of power. Then again removing or appointing ministers is the prerogative of the President by constitution.

Champika and Rathana are like “ගහක ගහයි පොත්තයි’ වගේ ‘the bark and the trunk’ of a tree. Rathana and Champika being experienced and hard headed politicians, no doubted they have manipulated and turned many in the JHU hierarchy against MR and thereby to fight their personal vendetta.

But I doubt original JHU voters and backers expected such behavior from the duo. Anyway, now that Rathana seemed to enjoy his flipflop to cohabit the original foes, I suggest, he shed his robe and become a layman and fulfill his new political endeavors. I shall end by saying that the man is fast getting isolated among by far the majority monks.

      Banda
Why change your tune now? hypocrite
You were happy for Rathana to do politics in a robe to serve MaRa but now asking to shed his robe to support MS.
JHU collectively have agreed to support MS.
How do you know Rathana is getting isolated by majority of monks? Have you spoken to the majority of monks?
you would think majority of monks support JHU and not BBS.
BBS is taking Buddhism in Sri Lanka to the precipice

WAIT, wait, mate…. It is certainty NOT your money. You may have to prove how you acquired that money. If it is from Urban Development Authority, you may have to show how this was prioritised over cleaning up the slumps, bridges, roads and such. Oh… did you bribe like how you bribed LTTE? That’s is interesting. Now, where are you going to go after the election? Do you have any negotiations under way to seek asylum in Russia and China???

‘I’ am the ‘ People’ syndrome that permeates MR, GR and BR! Their ‘Opinions and dreams’ HAVE to become the opinions and dreams of the people. They are the ‘Kings’. The ‘People’ are the ‘Vassals’. They are the three ‘Wise men’ in the country and the people the ‘ Deaf, Dumb and Blind Mice’ who are regularly induced to endorse their rule through elections. Their bloated ego can no longer differentiate between their status as individuals and the larger’State’, they are part of. They are the ‘State’. This is a self induced delusion and a per acute disease. It is terminal and will ‘Kill’ them as a political presence soon.

These ‘High and Mighty’ attitudes have undermined the MR government and have already undermined its moral authority to govern us. Whatever good this government has done will be interred with the larger evil it has been, hopefully soon.

I like to remind that there in no velalar cast in north now, Prabaharan educated all tamils lived inside ponds and cleaned cast system. During his 30 year rule, there were no theft, rape, robbery, or cast discrimination in North, which is a known fact to many Singhalese but their ego does not allow to talk in public. I think there is cast in singhala culture as well, still there is goviya and parava etc cast in use. I think talking about cast in public to agitate affected people is not very civilised work, people have to come out of the pond and travel(ok we third world people have not enough money to travel) to see how other counties have moved to different level but we are still electing people like MR, we have to grow up. First we have to accept our defects. MR and co is behaving like this because majority of us are still modias——–.

In short Gota is accepting the fact that he BRIBED the thero of the JHU from PUBLIC funds and says HE spent… where did HE get that kind of money I wonder? from 7=-11 in USA? So the UDA BELONGS to GOTA …UMMMM I thought it was a public Authority..how naive I’ve been….(Sarcasm)

Also the FUNDS HE gave to Gandassara too I bet came from HIS pocket via the UDA.. Gandassara didnt have a decent vehicle while he was stopped on the E-1 Expressway…now runs around in SUPER LUXURY vehicles… Thanks to GOTA and the Norwegian GOVT?

I wonder how Dilantha of the BBS has enough money to educate his daughter in USA…. roll eyes..(^-^)

Are these people attached to the present Regime going NUTS? They together spent PUBLIC FUNDS secretively and when the beneficiaries turned against or desert, public announcements are made as if they are revealing a BIG SECRET. In like manner, the President could now make announcements, such as already revealed of the “FILES”; the LARGE NUMBER of DUTY FREE CAR PERMITS given to Buddhist monks in the country. It is not a secret that “Head Quarter” temples received hundreds of such permits who in turn SOLD it to make money. We do not know how many other religious leaders and churches, kovils, mosque leaders got such benefits.

Doesn’t the above behavior on the part of the GUARDIANS of Public Affairs needs scrutiny and made accountable? This is the NEED for TRANSPARENCY. Hope someone some day will put this house in order and make an end to these types of JOKES and PLUNDER of Public Funds.

NO PROBLEM AS THIS IS A SO CALLED BUDDHIST COUNTRY AND IT IS BETTER THAT 30 MILLION WAS SPENT ON THIS TEMPLE RATHER THAN SPEND IT ON YELLOW ROBED TERRORIST – THE BBS – BORU BALU SENAS, WHICH IS AN ARM OF THE MR. GOTHABHAYA RAJAPAKSE OR THE RAVATANA BALAYA WHICH IS ALSO AN ARM OF MR. GOTHABHAYA RAJAPAKSE….. BY THE WHY IS THE BUDDHIST MONK MR.
