Identifying Traitors – I Cannot Wait Until Dr Padeniya Presents His Point Scheme

By Shyamon Jayasinghe

Shyamon Jayasinghe

“We are in a most complex field. To view the scene as anything but complex is the art of the simple mind.”

Cause for Excitement

I am excited! A way of Identifying and measuring a traitor is soon to be unveiled; by no less than the President of the GMOA! Hasn’t he also qualified in some department of neurology? All the more reason to justify my excitement! If the good doctor does a serious job of that… off he goes to collect a Nobel Prize. Who doesn’t need that finding? Who will grudge that award?

”We have created a point scheme,” Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya, President of the striking-prone GMOA, reportedly told a Lake House journalist. “In psychiatry there is a method to identify people who betray the country. We are going to launch this list and keep it online with the materials you publish. So we can display that you are carrying out a contract.”

Several Scenarios

Dr Padeniya refers to an act of betrayal of a country. On the other hand, a traitor is a general term used to describe an individual who betrays not only his country. The betrayal can be of one’s group, of another person, or even a principle or cause. When Brutus turned on his friend Julius Caesar, he became a famous example of a traitor. Treason is the related legal crime that  such behaviour represents.

The term traitor can thus represent different scenarios. In early childhood we are suppose to have a betrayal disposition in the Oedfus Complex. As a matter of fact, you and I and even Padeniya has embedded in us some proclivity to betray in some context. The motivations can be money, ego or ideology and throughout our lives we suffer from such internal tension. As a schoolboy we may betray another schoolboy in order to gain the good books of the Principal or teacher. As a politically participating adult there have been incidents where individuals have betrayed their party either because they feel they have been ignored and their self-esteem thus injured. Sri Lanka’s own political history is replete with such betrayals. Often the ego factor is boosted by a money offer or the offer of a portfolio. These and others form a myriad of scenarios that reflect the act of betrayal and treachery. Thus the betrayal of one’s country seems to be an extension of an instinctual tendency.

“Traitor,” in Ordinary Discourse

In ordinary chatting, we name someone a traitor if his actions can be tantamount to a betrayal of a group, another person, country, ideology or cause. The assumption is that he is pre-committed to such a group or country or cause and now he goes and betrays. Army personal giving intelligence to the enemy is a plain act of treachery. A pre-committed socialist espousing liberal capitalism ideology  is another. In such instances, we judge the actions of a member of the group or cause from the perspective of the goals of such group or cause. The adjective ‘traitor,’ in all such instances follow consequentially from the definition of goals and aims of the group, country or cause.

It is not that there aren’t possible complications of interpretation with regard to violations in all the above examples. One can cite many, for instance, of alleged treachery to a country by a citizen, or ideology by a proponent. As an illustration, in the kinds of concerns the GMOA are known to have with regard to government policy, international trade agreements take foremost priority. GMOA may believe only a traitor can support trade agreements. On the other hand, a proponent of trade  agreements may genuinely believe in the longterm benefits that flow to the country from such agreements. Economists themselves can disagree among each other. The question is, are these alleged acts of terrorism actually so? Certainly no.

It may even be alleged that Dr Padeniya is a traitor to the country by organising  serial strikes causing untold hardships to the suffering community of patients.

All these considerations explain why the act of branding a person as traitor following the consequences of that persons actions is in difficult territory.

The Psychiatrist Perspective

The Padeniya point scheme is, evidently, not meant to identify and measure a traitor on the basis of the latter’s actions as explained in the above account. One doesn’t need a psychiatric study for that; only an assessment with regard to actions of an individual in relation to a country’s vital needs.

On the other hand, what the doctor wants us to believe is that the science of psychiatry has devised ways of recognising a terrorist by examining the alleged offender’s mindset or mind process. The alleged act of being a traitor here is not by the comparing consequences of action along with the assumed or explicitly stated definition of a traitor. Padeniya believes that one can  delve into a person’s mind and figure out traces of being a potential traitor and determine the quantum and strength of such traces.  He means to be able to  identify the psychic tendency for a person to betray. It would be a wonderfully useful tool for all of us because theoretically you and I  can then decide whom to trust and whom not to trust.

Good News for Authoritarian Rulers

This is wonderful news for authoritarian rulers like Turkey’s Erdogan, Cambodia’s Hun Sen and to the “dear leader,” North Korea’s Kim Jong. If Sri Lanka, too, is going to have such a strongman in the personality of Gotabaya as wished for by the Malwatte Upa Nayake monk, then this Padeniya point scheme would ensure that the right traitor will be picked and taken away in the night in a white van well before any damage could be done to “the country.” Looking back to some decades, Sri Lankans still mourn the liquidation of Richard de Soyza. The simple reason is that Richard wasn’t a traitor. He was an eminently cultured and talented persona and an  independent thinker who wrote for human rights. The same with the more recent case of Lasantha Wickrematunge, editor of the Sunday Leader, who merely exercised the media right of exposure of Ministerial fraud in the public interest. Richard and Lasantha were perfect Sri Lankans who loved their country, as you or I do.

Hard to Access the Dark Recesses of the Human Mind

Marlene Behrmann, a professor of cognitive neuroscience at Carnegie Mellon University agrees that “despite decades and decades of research we still have only a rudimentary understanding about brain function”. Scientists know a great deal about other organs like the liver and kydney; of the working of the brain and functioning of the mind, very little.

It is hard to see how such a check list of the type promised by Dr Anuruddha Padeniya can be objective.

We have heard of objective signs of a person who is lying while giving testimony. Lie detectors have been accordingly manufactured and are used for such a purpose. The following eight habits have been regarded as “sure signs”:

1. They cover their mouths

2. They repeat themselves and provide too much detail

3. They prepare for an escape

4. Their words and body language don’t match

5. Their breathing changes

6. They change their typical patterns of eye movement

7. They get aggressive

8. They fidget

Doubtless even this scheme is plagued with practical difficulties and controversies. Besides this, the  identification here also takes place while the act is on; not preceding the act by way of examining potentiality to lie.

How then can one figure out the Padeniya scheme of picking potential betrayers beforehand?  How objective can that attempt ever be?  One can cite some of the many issues that arise.

Research on Treason

Humberto Nagera, MD in his essay, “Conflict, Treason and Terrorism. An Attempt at Psychoanalytic Understanding,” asserts:

“The subject of treason has received very scanty treatment in the psychoanalytic literature. Perhaps one of the reasons is that there is in each one of us, at the very least, a “minor traitor”, a fact that we cannot but contemplate with some horror, fear and shame.”

A paper by James Alexander (1969) which deals briefly with the issues of dissent, and particularly treason and sedition as the more destructive forms of dissent.Alexander concluded that: “Intrapsychically treason or strong treasonable and seditious potentialities implicate large areas of the total personality and the character structure of the individual in a pathological process”. As he sees it ” “The primary structural sites of these pathological processes are defects in the super-ego and ego-ideal.’

The human is an intrinsically selfish species and the offer of money and position can move us stealthily to the other side. Sri Lankans have had an abandon number of example of politcal treachery. Now, my question is could not Dr Padeniya’s point -scheme get conflated with these natural human instincts? In such event what usefulness would the

point scheme have?

Secondly, given that a person has been clearly spotted as a potential betrayer how can one predict that such a suspect will ever carry out an act of betrayal? If one is unlikely to carry out such an act then what is the value of  measuring persons prone to treachery? Also, how do we know to what a dangerous extent a person would be prepared to betray?

Conclusion

It is possible for me to go on and on showing up methodological difficulties I have encountered in my reading about the psychology of treason some of the numerous difficulties one faces in trying to identify a traitor. For the general reader what has been written should suffice to make him wonder what kind of output Dr Anurudhdha Padeniya is going to come out with. We are in a most complex field. To view the scene as anything but complex is the art of the simple mind

Yes, we are all excited doctor.

Now SAITM and GMOA are important political tools to fool, exploit, manipulate and manoever dumb Sri lankans voters. For leaders like Daniel duterte, fidel Castro, Putin like leaders all thsoe are excellent approaces to increase the number of medical colleges in the country, to increase the quality of doctors in the county (not by cutting down the number of subject each medical students completes as a student – British doctors are of very low quality now, I suppose,). Any way increasing the quality of the MBBS and the number of medical colleges can solve trade union activities of doctors, as well as the lack of doctors. Instead it is a competition between Maithripala sirisena, Rajapakses and the GMOS who wants to get the biggest piece. for sri lanka for every politician, it is way of winning the next elelction.
for journalists as well as for Politicians, PAtritism is if you can earn some money writing an article or winning a Seat in the parliament. I know after all, shaymaon Jayasinghe reaches to his creator who is rational. Rajapakses areno different.

I don’t think you need all that, Softy. Let Old King to come back; the logic is 19A cannot apply retrospectively. Further Ranil will accept in any court that 19A doesn’t apply to Old King. Once that obstacle is out of the way, ask China to pump another $18B. Right away Chinese ETCA will come into operation. The terrified Ayatollahs will raise their both hands high and vote it double. They will declare “if China’s ETCA come, our Lankawe Namo Namo Maaatha will achieve Nirvana which even Buddhism could not get to Lankawe after visiting three times. Then Mr. Padinia will say 6000 years ago the doctors invented Acupuncture in China and they had way to stop baffling by pricking right into the throat with a sharpened stone needle. (It was invented by Tamils in TN) Wimal will teach how to bring strong health children by pushing him away and sleeping with lions. Vasu will say Pakayas are not listing to me but Mao had all these solved 50 years ago. Thero will say because Castro really smart becuase he did know acupuncture was spreading fast so he had taught Western medicine to his people. Ulama Party Mubarak will say by drinking the Camel milk and he and Mohamed has been curing all problems in Sigiriya. Moraji’s grand Children will tell grandpa taught us how to keep environment clean and living healthy by dirking our urine. There will be shortage for Rhino horn and tiger teeth. But Lankawe who taught by China to make Organic plastic tooth & horn will make lot of wealth and will become Wonder of Asia, finally. Sagara will not cut Malau intestine anymore. We will be employed in China, Trained by GMOA, will be cutting Prisoners’ heart & kidney for export. Old King will appoint you as Moscow or China Ambassador. Then you will become the New King.

We are very clear – this SAITM aND Other issues came into being through the lack of experties and proper thinking mechanisms of previous Regime.

This has been a greater mistake. But MEDIA men to have diluted it but targetting any malpractices of the current govt has been obvious

      Why ?

There is a media Mafia run by Rajaakshe GOONs in this country.

This GMOA headmaster AND so called President PULBICLY reiterates that he is not into politics, even if reactions are to bring back former Murder charged highly abusive denfece secretary back to the scene.
Entire educated coumminties stand against the thoughts, but Paddeniya who has been one antoher frog in a well to stand against his own people whose funds gave him a free MBBS degree should be a curse really:
All others in that BRUTAL body called GMOA are local graduates and their experience would be not beyond srilanken bounderies. So how can they the worst kind of frogs could know it better ? As loudly criticise by CIVIL society groups none of these men have ever gone on strikes asking people s medical costs to be lowered or anything in that line but to behave like the caricatures of lanken hidden political hands is public secret to this date.
Most abusive monks rally rounds to catalyse any kind of vicious acts based on their own personal issues not people’s issues.
Now they would say, that is the reason President himself appoint a committee against the Singapore agreement.

No one gives a toss about the patients ……… the patients are the least of anyone’s concerns

All want money, prestige and position ……….. from the “treatment of the sick business”

With a few exceptions ………. it’s the case all around the world

I know one ……… by bending a few “ethics” can make $28,000 a day …… when they do surgery ……. but elects not to; patient-care comes first ………. I keep telling not to be stupid and take the money

Goodness will never be repaid ………. when the patients are cured they themselves will turn around and spit in your face ………. that’s what the world has come to.

A good deed never goes unpunished

In the modern world morals/ethics …….. are for losers/slaves

If not ……….. how did Mahinda Rajapakse and Donald Trump become two of the most popular presidents?

“If not ……….. how did Mahinda Rajapakse and Donald Trump become two of the most popular presidents?”

People tend to believe benevolent dictators are good for the country. Its not the fault of MR or DT. As long as the people remain stupid (another brick in the wall) to the core there is even a good chance of Wimal Sangili Karuppan Weerawansa being elected as president in a few years time.

It does not mean you have to kill them all.

I suppose you have seen Peter Seller’s “Being There” (1979) .
If you haven’t please watch it.

          Oh c’mon Native!

I can’t even bring myself to kill a cockroach …………. but this is the world we have come to inhabit ……….. not I, but everyone kills ……….

I’m just a chronicler of the times!

Do I have the power to stop the killings that goes around the world? …… I can only impassively chronicle it for posterity …….. or examine history to see how it was done before ……. to pass on a message from way back when ………..

Diogenes walked the streets carrying a lantern in the midday sun looking for a honest man ………. that was 2400 years ago ……….. have human-traits changes since then?

I’m only carrying on an illustrious tradition! ……….. I do not make history only write/record it.

What a crazy turn of events :)) …… now all Gota’s guilt/killings are blamed on me …… and he is going to be president!

Only consolation ……….. was never a one to think that Lankans’ forte was logic

“Being There” ……… Yep, seen it; good one ……… but now I’ve gone away from Anglo-Saxon/”Hollywood” fare ……. too formulaic and predictable/non-subtle …….

Try “Aguirre, the Wrath of God” (1972) (Warner Herzog) great metaphor for the craziness of Prabakaran ………

“Paris, Texas” (1984) (Wim Wenders) ………. A sorta metaphor for breakup/loss of Lankan families …… due to migration to different parts of the world ………

Stalker (1979) Andrei Tarkovsky …………. perhaps my favourite movie ……… don’t ask me why; I don’t know ……… it could mean so much or nothing; that’s the beauty ………

“Watermelon Man” (1970) Melvin Van Peebles ………….great light-hearted comedy ……… a White turning into a Black …….. or equally valid…… a hardcore Sinhalese turning into a Tamil or vice versa ……. :))

Anuruddha is still in the era when Psychiatrists decided that homosexuality is a disease after taking a straw vote at a conference. That was the golden era when we were looking for reds under beds. Human rights was a non-issue.

Shyamon ~ “……..If the good doctor does a serious job of that… off he goes to collect a Nobel Prize…….”.
Serious or not, Anuruddha will at best get an IgNobel Prize. A recent Ig-Prize went to a person’s published views on ‘Reconciliation and Treason’.

The very same man who louded at BRUTAL WAR WON former Army commander yelling at BBC Hard talk moderator few years ago would hang him … if proved to have betrayed the country – as if lanken BROAD day light excutioner could be GOTABAYA Rajapkshe
should not become the future president of the country ?

This might be, since these men in this country – MAJORITY villagers and ones living across the country incl in Western Province(so called most edcuated province to the statisticians) are just fools – would believe anything that spread through Rajpakshe propaganda machines.
Like for example, they dont care about the bugger Rajakashe being absent in the parlamentary debate scheduled on the topic – IF RAJAKASHE WAS BRIBED BY CHINA DURING THE LANKEN ELECTON CAMPAIGN?
Then again these bugger media men would NOT raise real questions as is the case with GOVERNING parties… if THE JOURNOLIST WAS assaulted by the order given by former president ?
Why lanken people stay as if KIRIMATI GILAPU kimbulas, when MEDIA men behave repeatedly like their MEN…. as if they servile prostitutes of former highly abusive multi murder alleged Rajakashes

Wearing a tie doesn’t make you respectable. You have to earn it. This Padeniya’s standards are so low that he is perfectly justified in trying to keep foreign doctors out. Probably six or seven Indian doctors could replace the entire GMOA membership.

Since this Padeniya rogue took over GMOA it has become a back scratching organisation of Rajapakse clan. This fellow has ulterior motives and now he is going after Gota to fulfill his dreams. Thanks to our free education people who have no background but some kind of intelligence can come up to these high positions. However their low qualities become evident and country is going down the hill day by day.Sad state of affairs.

Now you know why Sri Lankans of yesteryear relied on the cast system to keep the social environment in check.

        Burt ,

Casts are here to stay in Srilanka till the end but money and fame
sometimes supersede castes and equally love and beauty . CBK
and Vijaya episode and Premadasa and Hema are examples.

Prasad, as I got my Univ education in Europe and have now been working with european medical professoinals for som projects, feel very annoying to see, if lanken medical professonals seem to have lot more time also to engage themselves in agendas of politiians rather than focusing their valuable time for the patients. Srilanken context, they dont have even enoug doctors to the job.
There are also strikes in european countries in hospitals and the like bodies but none of them are based on on going politcs of the country. Mostly they focus on their issues such as some agreements within health ministry or nurses to get some more rights and newly introduced doctors to get more specific trainings etc. They also get their demands and then they just continue with their tightly set schedules for the day.
But this highly abusive GMOA whose emerge should be like a deadly cancer to lanken hospital communities seems to be standing on the way of any national issues without a shame. How could the kind of acts be ever allowed ?
Why health ministry has no whatsoever legal provision to stand against these men ?
If that is the case the kind of bodies – such as GMOA cant be DISSOLVED why cant health ministry bring reforms on that. This has become a severe headache to all in the coutnry today, but they the HIGHLY ABUSIVE men in GMOA continue and behave the same way continously ?

    • 3

Why those who elected seem to have no penis ?

GMOA – president reiterates he got elected repeatedly …. this has been the abusive nature of lankens in general be it within GMOA or any other smilar bodies. They dont know how much they could by using their VOTING power.

I think we have to cut down free education to Universities on long term. Only poor income famileis shold be offered kind of bursaries so that thei rchildren can become professoinals.
Besides, no many got produced by local univeristies are knowledgeble enoug to deliver today.
MBBS doctors have no langauge skills apart from their terminologies.
Lately one of my friends shared me, one tourists faced and accident near to Bandarawella and was compelled to get treated by a local hospital. There, the treating doctors were not aware of how they should explain the patient, what wold have been the treatment etc. This gentleman who brought the patient into hospital shared me, that doctors were very shy to share it with the patients.. may more likely. doctor could not be conversant in English.
This has been the saddest reality in some hospitals today.
But I believe, if education would have been prvatized so that the govt could earn lot more, the quality of the dgree being offered will have to be high.
Just like parrots trained to add their thought as is the case in MEDIA institutions, MBBS doctors must not work. They should feel what they are entitled to.. they got education free, and so at least 5 years they shoudl work to the local hospitals regardless of the location.

“In psychiatry there is a method to identify people who betray the country”
    .
There is no such thing in psychiatry. It doesn’t deal with abstractions like “country.” Its subject matter is individual human beings. I have been wondering how an evil moron like Padeniya ever become a neurologist. Something is not right. His utterances and actions are despicable. He is not fit to be a doctor, let alone a neurologist or lead the GMOA. He is very unprofessional in the way he deals with public issues. His behaviour is like a thug under siege overreacting to every little thing. Who is he to dictate public policy to the government. The government is there to implement the mandate given by the people. This Padeniya scumbag should confine his activities strictly to what concerns the medical profession and keep out of politics. He has no business to tell the government how it should run the economy, foreign trade, foreign policy, etc. Otherwise he should be fired and charged in a court of law for his illegal activities. Padeniya is a psychotic misfit. He is the traitor.

Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya project sounds interesting to say the least. Will he be any better than MR’s astrologer?
Even if the good doctor comes up with something credible, still it cannot be used in Sri Lanka politics. Sri Lankan voter still lives in the stone ages, does not have the ability to look at a persons vision, knowledge and integrity to cast their vote so is pulled towards hype, race and religion.

Padeniya should be reported to international professional bodies concerned with maintaining standards and ethics of medical practice including neurology and psychiatry, and publicly shamed. We cannot expect anything from our own oversight organizations. They are damn scared of even pradeshiya sabha members. Padeniya is a leading public enemy of the country, right after the Rajapaksha Criminal Syndicate on the list of traitors.

If he performs so, even some patients would shoot him in the days to come.

There is a big hatred being built against GMOA.

The only way out would be remove them from the positions. They hav ebeen dictating their positions. … and their men in side seem to be electing them on an don.. Like was the case in Cricket board.
This country cant move forward so long the kin dof men take ground in such bodies.

There is a story explains how Karma works. One time, two thieves robbed from Palace and when guards chased, dropped it near to a mediating sage and ran. Guards picked up the eyes still closed sage and put him on the Kazhu (A permanent installation for impaling criminals by anus). The dying Sage woke up but pleasantly accepted the punishment. Ripped off by sorrow, the devotes inquired him why did it happened to him. The great Guru replied “When I was a small boy I catch dragonflies, insert a needle in their back and make them fly on the thread I hook to the needle.” The guru taught a lesson that when Karma comes back to you, how to greet it and receive it.
Paranagama used to send CIDs to the houses of the missing person’s relatives. This is an oppressive illegal process. This was started because they did know brining all the 10,000 Tamil complainants to 4th floor, the BAR-B-Queing Centre, to discipline them is impractical.
Now Old King fell in the trap he set for the Tamil relatives of the missing persons. It seems it is an honor for Old King that he didn’t have to go to 4th floor but the 4th Floor Mohameds came to Medamulana Manson. Is there a lot of difference between a call girl and a prostitute, in their respect or honor? If it is escort or call girl she comes to you. If it is a prostitute you go to her. But is there much difference in the business? I don’t think so.

Here, I expected that Ranil to have hand pick which beauties go the Medamulana Manson. I may be right, but then how do you explain when Old King called his assistant ‘Imbecile Devil!” What happened as per the Colombo Media is, 4th Floor Mohammeds came to Medamulana Manson Mountain. But the “Moda Yakke” had made the Mountain to go the Media- that is up to gate, out of it where the media was waiting. The media men waited there to ask directly from Old king why the 4th Floor CID rascals came to his house and how did everything go? The question was simple because he had the answer readymade – “he had already forgot what happened at his house earlier that day for three long hours”. But the Mountain mad as it had felt disgraced by this Moda Yakka’s deed.
Karunkali Kattaikku Naanaatha Kaudaali Vaalaiththandukku Naanichacam. (The mighty steel axe that did not go shy on the ebony hardwood went blunt by cutting a banana plant.) Old King has been the ringmaster of the world’s most dangerous human flesh eating leopards, the 4th floor CIDs. They had come to his house. But, Keith Knows well enough, media mice, whom he picks with one little finger, twist them and throw, had made him to go to the Manson’s gate to meet them. The Medamulana Manson Mountain lost self-control and fired at the puny employee as “Moda Yakke”. Moda doesn’t have any importance in CT. Next to “is” and “the” that is the word we use here. But the devil may not go easily wiped out of the Yakke. Will there be another Jayamanne cleaning for trapping a mountain at the gate of the Manson with the Media on the other side of the locked gate?

Yes there is a method of identifying the mentally deranged ones. First of all the worst deranged one in Sri Lanka is GMOA Padeniya, who got free education, charging exorbitant consulting fees for his private practice and recommending tests which are not necessary just to earn commission from private hospitals and who strikes all the time placing the lives of those whom he should save in danger. He is the worst mentally retarded one. Lets lock him up.

I must congratulate SJ for doing a lot of research on the subject before writing this article. Fellows have point schemes for all sorts of things. As to its validity depends on the underlying assumptions. Leave the specific instance of Dr. Padeniya. Talking about professionals themselves, how many are servile to the political crooks, thus forsaking their professional independence and integrity at present? Take the case of a controversial former JMO who said that the loss of life was a result of an accident. Finally the medical council slaps a suspension of practice for the individual for a given duration. In the recent past, though not published much, how many politico-technical reports have been written to pacify the whims and fancies of those in power? Nobody now, dares to talk of the demerits of a much publicized mega-irrigation project especially in a season where the perennial river cannot cope with the demand fearing the wrath of the present “Maharajano”. I need not delve into the field of law when a well known journalist wrote a book exposing the corruption in the bench itself where the attorneys at law acts as the pimp offering the flesh of the fair client to the bench. (In Sinhala “pideniya”). During the heyday, with a less elaborate constitution, the situation in Queen’s Ceylon had a better environment and I believe that SJ was a public servant here at that time. They could tell the politician straight to the face, “Sorry! The law is clear and if you want to have your way change the law”. I am told that in a meeting the present Governor of the Central Bank very diplomatically implied the same thing to the PM. That is what it should be thus promoting good governance.

Buddhism shows the way how to detect and punish . traitors like who killed prominent sportsmen, journalists minorities who fought for their rights, those who bit the dust in defeat . Their Karma will follow them this birth next birth and births to . There is no escape. We don’t need Padenia to do that.

‘Traitor’ is not a concept in psychiatry, psychology or any other science. It’s a term used in a non-technical sense in ordinary life to condemn behaviour deemed as disloyal – to a person, collective, or cause. Thus it is based on subjective judgment, and not on any objective criteria. That is why people regarded as traitors are often hailed as ‘national heroes’ and ‘saviours’ by those in the opposite camp. Just like someone’s ‘terrorist’ is a ‘freedom fighter’ for others. These are loaded political terms. Accordingly, ‘traitor’ is not a diagnosis that is recognized by the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). So what this vicious doctor is saying is most unprofessional, unacceptable and scandalous. Of one thing we can be certain though. Calling someone with whom we disagree, or have a conflict with, as a ‘traitor ‘ is a classic fascist strategy to label and destroy/eliminate that person. This is what Hitler, Prabhakaran, and other such fascist tyrants did in the past to achieve total power. And this is precisely what those who want to bring Gotler to power, like the racist Buddhist monks, rogue journalists, and the politicized killer doctors are doing right at this moment. There is a term to describe such people: ‘psychopaths.’ Now this term, psychopathy, also doesn’t stand for a diagnosis in the DSM, but it has some recognition in psychiatry as a useful term to describe a set of personality traits that usually converge in anti-social individuals. The most common among these characteristics are self-centredness, not caring about the consequences of one’s actions, insensitive to others’ needs and feelings, lack of conscience, being a control freak, pathological lying, manipulating others for own needs, projecting one’s own faults on to others and highly blaming them, and extremely vengeful.

Now doesn’t this psychopathic personality type exactly fit Padeniya, a publicly-educated doctor, earning a thumping salary plus gobbling money from private practice (and shamelessly asking for even more) working to an agenda to bring the Rajapaksa Mafia back to power? He is trying to achieve this by obstructing the government from carrying out its mandate through illegal political strikes and holding the poor and sick to ransom. Who is this bugger? What right he has to threaten the sovereign people of this country? Who gave him the power to deprive the sick and infirm from getting the public-funded health care, while he and his fellow brute doctors are getting paid by the same public source?

The idiot is in the pocket of his master, our patriot who stole the till of the sl treasury and is now trying a comeback to avoid being with the other patriot gandassara thero. Padadeniya needs to have his brain examined for analysing mental illusions. A good specimen for research of transition from ape to monkey.

      Edwin Mahaththayo.

time has come to reveal almost everyone.
This particular Paddeniya got his education in SL. He has been coming from a rural background. He cant say that he would not know the difficult a strike would bring if the kind of would repeat one behind the other.
And the very same man is proved to have continued his private practise in an earlier sessions, even if strikers were on their march to do the job as promised.
Anyways, these hypocrites have done something preliminary wrong in their earlier days to not to see their profiles by their own. Meaning they dont know what they have been doing. What more bad they could do if they continue the kind of strikes just ignoring the ground reality of the of the harm being done to poor patients. Patients have done their job, to have contributed themselves to allow these and other men free education. Why gods cant see the unfairness being promoted by these abusive men.
Politicians are highly corrupted. But professionals should not catalyse the vicious programs of insane politicians.

Shyamon, I wanted to writ earlier, but decided against, because though it was coming out from a colleague it is utter stupid and idiotic comment by the doctor.Which also makes me to doubt his real qualifications, if not definitely his personality. This is a typical Trumpian statement made by the doctor which is actually an indirect threat to people. Is this guy a doctor or a mercenary???? it is a hall mark of a psychopath, pervert, sick and antisocial mind. As a physician and a person familiar in this field I can vouch there is no point system as such, what this moron is prescribing. .This scoundrel should first test the point system by performing it on his GMOA goons and him self . ( to verify validity/sensitivity ).It is really sad to see how the once highly acclaimed health system has now turned to a gangsters paradise. My uncle was one of the earliest professors to serve SLGH. Then few of us were fortunate to follow his foot steps. And now we see this as future health care for Lanka.

If this guy had made this comment anywhere outside of Lanka then there is enough grounds to suspend his medical license. What he is calling for is a discriminatory screening to suppress free speech. Not neuro-psychological testing. These are the thugs who are now the “faces (representing) of our nations health services.” Dear MR. Pandeniya when you have time please take the MMPS (Minnesota Multiple Personality Test) or your own screening what you suggest and let us know the results.First it was the rotten politicians, then gradually police, justice, education started declining and now you have the health services run by few thugs, criminals and politicians.

When the Political tide hits at their door steps the JARAPASSAS at once starts their whinging. Non stop whinging.
They have been doing this since last 3 years.
Somehow they think they can win their masses . Not really!! When you see the comments from the masses on social media it’s obvious their whinging is a Joke. Nobody wants to believe nor supports their whinges.
What’s the next step JARAPASSAS Iam asking them to change their tactics as this seem to be not productive/ working.
It will be the same when they put themselves for Presidency.
Certainly the whole gang will be let down by the masses.
One advice to these lazy sods is STOP WHINGING.

If governments continue to concede to all the demands of GMOA and grant excessive privileges, benefits and power one day the country will be ruined by GMOA. Doctors are not the only professionals a country needs. We need Engineers, Accountants, Lawyers and so many other professionals to run a country. They block any attempt to set up private medical colleges creating fake allegations without
directly opposing. Now the time has come for the government to educate the public about the behavior of Doctors and their hidden motives.

It’s unknown that whether it’s only in Sri Lanka that people are very concerned about others responsibilities rather than his/her own responsibility.

Monks are politicians, businessmen & though unmarried experts in conjugal love, teachers are business people & policemen, doctors are businessmen, politicians& economists, politicians are thugs & businessmen, when inquired farmers say they don’t have jobs, university students are fund raisers to develop rural schools, office peons are managers, husbands are wives, wives are husbands, fathers are mothers & mothers are fathers, children are elders & elders are children.

What else? you name it we have it.

What shall we do to correct it?

I am sure that by using his points system Dr. Padeniya would be able to divide all the contributors as well as those who send comments to Colombo Telegraph into two classes as ‘patriots’ and ‘traitors’. If he undertook to conduct a pilot study on the more prominent authors and commentators whose output appears regularly on CT and presents the results, we will all be able to get some idea as to whether his points system method for identifying traitors might really work. At the very least, the whole exercise will prove very edifying and entertaining!

    If A calls B a traitor, B in return can call A a traitor. C can decide.
    Why all this excitement?

Recently Smart ass patriots started calling names because Sarath, Wimal, Gota, and their b***s carriers p****d off with the attempted drafting of a new constitution which people hope would help democratize the country and empower them.

If people don’t agree with the bigots they automatically become traitors. Wasn’t this the same kind of attitude prevailed among LTTE which partly led to its demise?

There you are NV. No body ever called LTTE a traitor while they were free to call anybody a traitor and terminate them . That was the problem. Instead they were called “sole representatives Tamil people. ” Blame yourself. There was no B as in my comment. So C had no option but to sacrifice all their children to A.
Still you are calling A a hero. No one stands up against that, again leaving C with no choice.
As for us A is our arch enemy, an unadulterated bunch of dirty murderers. Stand up against terrorism man . Call spade a spade. Giive the poor C a choice. Don’t drive C towards the same mirage. You will regret -again.

During the war Mahinda, Gota, and their b***s carriers actually name their opponents being traitors just because they refuse to endorse the crooks, murderers war criminals just as George Bush defined, “either you are with us or with the enemy simple as that.”
By the way not many bought Dumbya’s definition of traitor except a few like you.

What are A B & C? Are they any euphemism for anything else?

There are lots of traitors to mother Lanka. Even within army forces some are willing to testify what happened in the war. All these traitors should be consolidated in a list and published.

Wow. I didn’t know a point system existed to determine the level of patriotism or ‘betrayal’ as apparently stated by Padeniya. Wonder who invented it & if so (obviously once proven), will other countries follow suit, for instance, in handing out citizenships? Probably, Padeniya & his mob can earn some money from ‘royalties’.

Anyway, who is going to be tested first? Shouldn’t it start with the President & down the line to past illustrious politicians as well, just for prosperity? While at it, why not Padeniya & his mob too, because, in my thinking, they have betrayed the citizens of SL who have paid for their education.

Padeniya or Pavaadeniya? The way this mad man is acting it certainly seems like he is Gon Dostara Pavaadeniya.Actually the GMOA is putting misery on the poor man and that is ironic since people like Pavaadeniya, Ara Soysa etc are from very poor homes.Just look at their misery , poverty ridden faces and decide for yourselves .

Rosie SEnanayake has appointed 19 people from outside, for her PRIVATE PURPOSES. the deputy mayor has appointed for eight positions of his private affairs 13 people including some from MAtale (muslim).

You always hear lots of stories. Everything you say is : ‘I heard’, anecdotal.

But what I heard was that you are being paid by traitors to plant false information in people’s head.
