Infographic: Rajapaksas Invested More In One Defence University Than In All Other Universities Combined

Last year the Rajapaksa regime invested more in one Defence Academy than it did in all the universities in Sri Lanka. The Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), was allocated 16.3 billion rupees in capital expenditure last year, while all the other universities in Sri Lanka – Colombo, Peradeniya, Moratuwa etc –  were only allocated 9.7 billion rupees in capital expenditure. To make matters worse. KDU had just under 1500 students, while all other universities had 88,000+ students.

“Non-officer cadets studying at KDU must pay fees of multiple lakhs. Therefore, the government is massively subsidising fee-paying education.  It is clear from this policy that the Rajapaksa regime cares little for education – the country’s and people’s hope for the future – or for free education, which Sri Lankans have enjoyed for over half a century.” an economist told Colombo Telegraph.

    Well well well

    Complete Militarisation of education.

The Sinhala/Buddhist state is more interested in war and destruction than wisdom and creativity.

    Ben Hurling where are you?

Could you pass this quote to Gota.

Uni Student should EDUCATE their parents and families in villages about the militarization of Sri Lanka and the corrupt Rajapaksa dictatorship.

This morning – December 5 – in Central Colombo on the roads around Victoria Park Gota’s military battalions were on display to warn the public that there is a military dictator in charge! Wonder what the role of Military would be if Gota has a coup?

But the defeat of the usually victorious Lanka Cricket team in Hambantota by the Brits no less is a taste of things to come for Mahinda Jarapassa, no doubt!

      Native,

“There’s a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people,” – William Adama.

No doubt, come 8th Jan 2015, Gota will look upon the citizens of this country as enemies of the state. He will seek to reap the dividends of this ridiculously distorted allocation of our tax money.

Gota will mobilize the military to reinforce the already crumbling Rajapassa dynasty building project.

Gota for sure will end up with egg on his face this time around. It will be a serious mistake on his part.

Should they lose, as simplest of statistics would suggest, they would. All Sri Lankans can feel the ground swell. No Rajapassa Gil-Mart can stop it.

A falsified result declaration by a corrupt election commissioner will lead to widespread anger. Uprising in this country will be no Katunayake, Chilaw or Rathupussellawa protest. All hell will break lose.

      Cheers!

PS: Military is there to fight the enemies of the state. Not to protect a corrupt family clan, their cronies & henchmen rejected by the people.

        Ben Hurling

“Military is there to fight the enemies of the state. Not to protect a corrupt family clan, their cronies & henchmen rejected by the people.”

The perceived enemies of the state is the state itself. Under the current constitutional arrangement, state and its institutions become the properties of the rulers.

The military never fought a war against invading foreigners. However it killed its own people in 1971, between 1987 and 1990 and over thirty years. I am not disputing with your assumption that military is there to fight the enemies of the state. In reality the state created its own own enemies within and went to war them.

Watch carefully what is happening in this island.

There is a possibility Gota/Fonseka may be the next Sisi in waiting. Americans may facilitate the transition skillfully as they did in Egypt of course with the support of Hindia.

Next time around there could be a mass exodus from the South to Tamil Nadu. Please keep in touch with O Panneerselvam the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Well of course they did. That’s what it was – an investment. Dividends will forthcoming when the military is called upon to re-establish ‘law and order’.

Good to see. Future generations of the armed forces are just as important as the war heroes who crushed Thalaivar’s big idea, Sri Lanka should spare no expense.

They are not training F15 pilots…so it is simply a black-hole where money goes in….only yo disappear into Singapore and Seychelles bank accounts. Remember, the Rajapakses have redesigned the art of the swindle.

In the good only days, people forged documents, submitted false paperwork to get the payment through.

The Rajapakses create companies and entities from scratch, appoint boards with Chairman and then divert EPF and Chinese loan money into these organizations before having another foreign entity invoice for payments. Money in, money out, and the dumb Sri Lankan nation is holding the empty bag!

Then, that money comes back into Sri Lanka as Stock Market investments and gets laundered…..Now you know the secret how some pavement Johnnies have become Billionaires. Just by being the caretakers of the Rajapakse money.
