“Ordered disorder, planned caprice,
And dehumanized humanity…” ~ Brecht (The Exception and the Rule)
A group of monks, led by veteran trade unionist Muruththettuwe Ananda thero, are planning to hold a sangha convention on 20 February. They feel insulted and ignored by the powers that be. And they want to save rata, jathiya, agama, sanskruthiya, and hediyawa from the powers that be.

Muruththettuwe Ananda
Since Sri Lanka is a democracy (however flawed), monks too enjoy ‘the freedom of peaceful assembly’ guaranteed to all citizens by Article 14(1)(b) of the Constitution. Hopefully, the NPP/JVP government will bear this truth in mind and not try to interfere with a pack of monks exercising their fundamental rights as citizens – as the Rajapaksas did in 2010.
The story is amply recorded, yet unremembered. When the Rajapaksa regime arrested General Sarath Fonseka just weeks after his defeat at the 2010 presidential election, the four chief prelates condemned it as ‘unjustified and unacceptable’. They sent a joint letter to all monks, calling for a Sangha Convention at the Maha Maluwa in Kandy on 18 February ‘to re-establish democracy and good governance in Sri Lanka’. The move was a historic first (after the division of Sangha into caste-based nikayas on the orders of a Kandyan king).
The convention was never held. Three senior monks representing the three nikayas explained the reason for its indefinite postponement at a media conference. “Many members representing the government as well as some members of the clergy who are working for the government used tremendous pressure on us to stop the meeting,” Athangane Ratanapala thero complained.
The Rajapaksas reportedly used bomb threats and threats of division to tame the monks, according to a WikiLeaks cable. “Two days before the Sanga Sabha was to open, Buddhist contacts from the provinces informed us that temples had been told that bombs would be hurled at buses transporting monks to the council… Government apologists retaliated by promising that 500 temples would be split off from the main Buddhist sects and re-aligned with a lesser-known sect from Rajapaksas’ home region in the south” (Colombo Telegraph – 29.11.2011).
The US State Department’s 2010 International Religious Freedom Report gives more details. “…a delegation of government ministers met with the Mahanayakes to discourage them from holding the assembly. There were reports from a wide range of contacts that local temples across the country received anonymous threats that any busses carrying Buddhist monks to attend the assembly would be bombed, and the Mahanayakes called off the sessions indefinitely. Contacts reported that the Mahanayake of Malwatte who had organised the call for the assembly, was threatened with government action, which would split his chapter and significantly reduce its influence, if he attempted to speak out on political issues again”.
Where Muruththettuwe Ananda thero was during this tumultuous time, whether he was one of the monks who, at Rajapaksa behest, compelled the chief prelates to cancel the Convention is not known. Culprit or bystander, that ugly incident seems to have slipped his mind, going by his statement that all previous governments listened to the voice of the Sangha.
His amnesia seems to cover the sordid tale of Kandy night races as well, a pet project of Namal Rajapaksa and his brothers. When the night races were first held in 2012, Chief Prelate of Malwatte chapter dismissed them as ‘nonsense’. “I condemn the conducting of night races by harassing the public of Kandy. The whole of Kandy town has been filled with sand bags, there’s no space for movement of pedestrians, and the roads of this small town are to be closed from this evening… I spoke to the president and he told me he wasn’t aware of the races …” (Daily Mirror – 17.3.2012). In 2014, chief prelates of all three nikayas made a public appeal to President Mahinda Rajapaksa asking him to stop the night races. The races went on.
In 2012, as the Rajapaksas were speeding ahead with the illegal impeachment of the then chief justice, Shirani Bandaranayake, all chief prelates ‘kindly’ requested President Mahinda Rajapaksa to halt impeachment proceedings. The proceedings went ahead, Shirani Bandaranayake was removed and Mohan Peiris installed as chief justice.
Either Muruththettuwe Ananda thero and other organisers of 20 February Sanga council had forgotten this Rajapaksa past. Or they are acting as the willing puppets of a political puppet master aiming to return to power on the crest of a new wave political Buddhism.
Dreams of 1956
“From 1956, from the Bandaranaike era, we, the Sangha, talked about country, race, religion,” Muruththettuwe Ananda thero states. “Every head of state, every ruler listened to that voice”
SWRD Bandaranaike certainly did listen to the din. Or rather, he made a you-scratch-my-back-and-I’ll scratch-yours type of deal with a group of political monks. He embraced the political monk’s demand for Sinhala-Only (rejected by both the UNP government and the left opposition) and placed Sangha at the zenith of his ‘Pancha Maha Balavegaya’ (Five Great Forces). With that, he released the genie of religious-politics from the bottle of history. The genie would claim his life in 1959. Before that, it destroyed so much else.
The Bandaranaike-Chelvanayagam Pact, born in July 1957 and asphyxiated in April 1958, discredited moderates and strengthened extremists on both sides of the divide. Contrary to popular belief, the B-C Pact was not abrogated due to the UNP’s opportunistic March to Kandy (it is disheartening to see Sajith Premadasa embracing those same old tactics, with his sudden visit to Muruththettuwe Ananda thero). PM Bandaranaike’s change of heart was caused by a sit-in by about 100 monks outside his private residence. The PM could and did ignore the UNP’s march. It never reached Kandy but was stopped on the same day it began due to SLFP supporters blocking the Kandy road at Imbulgoda, Gampaha. But a protest by the first pillar of their Pancha Maha Balavegaya was quite another matter. The PM tore a copy of the Pact in front of the monks and their supporters. The leading monks demanded a written promise. He caved in, signing a statement declaring the Pact to be null and void. This without even a single word of explanation or apology to SJV Chelvanayakam, the C of the B-C Pact.
Had it not been for that unfortunate intervention by political monks, the B-C Pact would have gone through – and subsequent disasters, starting with the 1958 riots could have been avoided.
The politico-emotional climate created by Sinhala Only, made worse by the unilateral abrogation of the B-C pact, paved the way to the 1958 riots. A Tamil narrator in A Sivanandan’s novel, When Memory Dies poignantly describes the confusion and the sense of betrayal felt by ordinary Tamils. “None of this could be happening, I said to myself from time to time, closing my eyes. It had never happened before, not in 2000 years of history, not like this: The Sinhalese were my friends, I had married one, my son was a Sinhalese; none of this could be happening.”
In Vellupillai Prabhakaran’s first ever interview, Anita Pratap asks him about the role played by the 1958 riots in his radicalisation and the decision to take up arms. In answer, he mentions the personal experience of a family friend. “During the riots, a Sinhala mob attacked her house in Colombo. The rioters set fire to the house and murdered her husband. She and her children escaped with severe burn injuries. I was deeply shocked when I saw the scars on her body”. That, and the murder of a Tamil priest in Panadura, dragged from his kovil by a mob, doused with petrol, and burnt, seemed to have been formative influences for young Vellupillai.
SWRD’s pact with political monks and his habit of succumbing to their extremist demands not only led to the Long Eelam War. It also ended the natural inclination on the part of most Tamil people to learn Sinhala, at least for practical reasons. As a Tamil named ‘Rasan’, interviewed by ML Ratnapalan, professor of history at South Korea’s Yonsei University, as part of his paper Memories of Ethnic Violence in Sri Lanka among Emigrant Tamils in the UK, explained, “Acquiring knowledge of Sinhalese was a very practical thing. If you had to deal as a doctor in a Sinhalese area, you would be foolish not to know Sinhalese, because you can’t do your job. (The problem was when the acquisition of the Sinhalese language) was becoming conditional to your advancement in your career… What happened in 1956 was suddenly what was happening in day-to-day life somebody was trying to make it a law… That is where it became irksome”.
70 years on, we are trying hard to achieve what we would have become organically without the disastrous intervention of Sinhala Only – a mostly trilingual people. The intervention of political monks contributed to the education crisis we are facing today as well.
This history must not be repeated. Never.
This Conference of monks
In August 2007, the then head of the JHU, Ellawala Medhananda Thero, made a momentous announcement. Fundamentalist Christians were planning to infect Buddhist monks with AIDS, he proclaimed. “I got information that fundamentalists at a meeting in Kurunegala had decided to eliminate Buddhism from this country. Part of their plan is to infect the monks with HIV virus… Monks could be infected with the virus when they go for a blood test or blood transfusion” (Lanka Newspapers – 18.8.2007).
Time passed. The AIDS infecting Christian fundamentalist was replaced first with Undead Tiger and then with Sterilising Muslim. The need for a minority threat and a minority enemy is the cord which binds the political monks and the Rajapaksas together. Their survival and success depend on sowing fear and suspicion among Sinhala-Buddhists. The enemy changes from time to time, but the need for one never changes. After all, if there is no enemy, who needs saviours?
In 2009, just months after the victorious ending of the war, there was an attempt to revive the Tiger. The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) announced the discovery of an explosive laden van about to be sent to Colombo on a suicide mission. The then DIG of the Northern Province (and former STF Commandant) Nimal Lewke dismissed the story as ‘suspicious and questionable’ less than 24 hours later. The final nail in that particular coffin was the revelation that the CCD arrested the van but released its driver! From then until late 2012, the identity of the Enemy changed from Tamil to Christian to Muslim until finally becoming gelled on Muslims.
In late 2015/early 2016, the Sinha Le (Lion’s blood) movement came into being. The words Sinha Le were painted on the gates of some Muslim houses; Sinha Le stickers appeared on three-wheelers. Though the movement fizzled out after an initial spurt, it made a contribution to the return of the Muslim enemy with the sterilisation pills saga in 2017/18.
During an interview with the A5 News channel in 2020, Madille Pannaloka thero, a leading light of Sinha Le, revealed the role played by Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the birth of the movement The monk had fallen out with the president over a paucity of patronage and attention and was in a tell-all mood. He revealed that Sinha Le organisation was formed under the guidance of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. He said that Gotabaya Rajapaksa took part in ‘lengthy discussions’ and provided them with ‘certain guidelines’. “For one and a half hours he taught us tricks,” the monk said.
As the hype over the upcoming conference of monks heightens, the question cannot but arise: Is this Sinha Le II? If so, who grinds this particular organ?
The monk conference’s organiser-in-chief, Muruththettuwe Ananda thero says that he and the other participants of the as yet unnamed movement will support any politician who agrees with their agenda. “Every ancient king treated the Sangha well,” he says, not quite truthfully because many an ancient king treated dissenting monks with ruthless severity. What the monks want is obviously a leader they can bend to their will. But the possibility that they are not independent agents but the puppets of some political leader is a real one.
In The Conference of Birds, a 12th Century epic poem by the Persian poet Farid ud-Din Attar, a group of birds embark on an avian Odyssey in search of a king. The birds want the Simorgh (the Persian version of the phoenix) to be their king. When they reach the distant home of that legendary bird, all they find is a lake in which they see their own reflections.
Perhaps before the political monks open yet another door to hell, they should take time to look in a mirror. There, they will see the face of the enemy who, through greed for power and riches, pushed this country and her people on to a catastrophic path, again and again.

The answer: On the day and from then afterwards, those ‘Men’ are properly ordained and enter the ‘Monkhood’ as per the Buddha Dhamma.
Those whom you are referring to are not Buddhist Monks. That ‘Saffron Clothe’ and the ‘Shaven Heads’ are a license to kill.

Dear Readers,
I contrasted the monks in Sri Lanka and Myanmar. Please get your facts straight so that our nation does not become filled with more hatemongers than peacemakers.
.
Sri Lanka has a smaller monastic community overall (≈ 42K), deeply rooted in Sinhalese Buddhist society. While most monks follow traditional roles (teaching, meditation, community service), a small number are linked with nationalist activism, primarily speech or community pressure rather than widespread physical violence.
–
Tbc
/
leelagemalli / February 18, 2026
Cont.
Myanmar’s monks (≈ 500K) are one of the largest monastic institutions in Buddhism globally. Most are not violent; historically they’ve acted as moral and social voices — sometimes opposing state violence. However, some contemporary monks have been loudly involved in ethno-religious politics, including rhetoric that supported discrimination.
–
⚠️ On “Violence” and Extremism
–
In both countries, some individuals associated with the monastic community have been criticized for rhetoric or actions that fuel communal tensions. But:
–
In Sri Lanka, the number of monks directly involved in violence is very low, and there is no systematic reporting that quantifies them.
–
In Myanmar, extremist monks implicated in anti-minority rhetoric appear to be a small fraction given the total monastic population.
–
So: Narrow but Important Distinction
–
Quantity of monks: Myanmar >> Sri Lanka.
–
Violent monks: In both countries, these constitute a minority, typically not more than a few thousand out of tens or hundreds of thousands — and precise figures are not officially reported.
–
The perception of monk-linked violence usually focuses on ideological influence or rhetoric rather than systematic physical violence across the Sangha.

Hello OC,
Whilst doing some research into Sri Lankan Buddhist Literature I came across the this link – https://ir.lib.pdn.ac.lk/items/2eedb023-a529-4c3d-9cb2-386b539d3cfa
Is it just me or is this a botched Translation of his Thesis Summary?
Here is an Article based on his Thesis
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://scispace.com/pdf/the-concretization-of-sinhalese-into-the-ethnic-identity-by-557gu9x4xj.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj_0sLjgt6SAxW9ma8BHWd5FAgQFnoECBkQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0LJpMZmi4rm33LGaPgZPkQ
In his Thesis he remarks upon the Ancient Customs of Buddhists in Sri Lanka going on Pilgrimage to the sites of the Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment and Death.
If Champa is right then R.G.D. Jayawardena, Senior Lecturer, Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Peradeniya is completely wrong in proclaiming that “Mahinda Thero brought Buddhism to the Island”. There is also the question of why Asoka wrote on his Pillar at Lumbini that this was the Birthplace of the Buddha.
Best regards

LS,
This sort of fractured language is common nowadays.
Champa’s convolutions are an effort to have the cake and eat it. In this 21st century, most people know that the Buddha couldn’t fly to Sri Lanka, thereby making it holy. So, why not concoct a tale that the Buddha was born right here and didn’t need to fly? Plus, Sri Lanka comes out even holier and we can look down on those evil Indians.
Even Professor J seems to subscribe to the story of Mahinda Thero (another early aviator) as the single bringer of Buddhism, instead of the more likely slow diffusion from South India. That would put the devious Tamils on a higher pedestal, and we can’t have that, can we?
/
SJ / February 17, 2026

Buddhism had a popular route by which it spread from pre-Asokan times. It also had the route chartered by Asoka. The exact route taken by him and later Sangamitta are notcertain. But that Mahinda played an important role in the spread of Buddhism seems much feasible.
Also recorders of history have for centuries been hooked to personalities.and it is likely that the the part played by Mahinda has been exaggerated to make him the one who introduced Buddhism.
There is another interesting aspect to South Indian Buddhism. Massive dagobas are virtually unknown and even the more impressive Buddhist sites have architecture more akin to ‘Hindu’ temples. This may explain why Jaffna despite a strong Buddhist presence at one time had no huge viharas until recently.
But Tamilnadu was the place where Buddhism lost heavily to Saivasm before it was virtually wiped out of India. And that it was not our brand of Buddhism should be a consolation.

Hello OC & SJ,
It has puzzled me for some time as to why there is a Fresco of the Arrival of Vijaya in Sri Lanka in the Ajantha Cave 17, Maharashtra. The Caves are aged from 2nd Century CE to 5th Century CE.
Any explanation would be welcome.
Best regards
/
old codger / February 19, 2026
LS,
The Ajanta Caves, including Cave No. 17 where the fresco depicting Prince Vijaya’s arrival is found, date back to approximately the 5th to 6th century. So, they are contemporaneous with the author of the Mahavamsa, not with Vijaya himself. I wouldn’t discount the existence of Vijaya, but it would be logistically improbable that even a fleet of 3rd century BC ships could populate a whole country with “Aryans” from Northern India especially when there are lots of Dravidians 20 miles away.
Strangely, the Ajanta Cave Frescoes don’t depict the Buddha visiting Sri Lanka.

–
.
Ashoka’s Lumbini pillar confirms the Buddha’s birthplace.
–
The Mahinda mission story comes primarily from Sri Lankan chronicles.
–
The statement that “Mahinda brought Buddhism” is a traditional formulation referring to institutional establishment, not necessarily first contact.
–
Academic debate exists, but there is no contradiction between Ashoka’s pillar and the Mahinda narrative.

I know where you coming from OC. It is a very complex subject if you try to dissect and find out why, and I agree if it is not this government then there wont be any in the forthcoming future to change the situation. Yes, the issue is white clad sheep are quite cheap here. They are everywhere – about 75%. Bountiful even among the educated, learned and ‘enlightened’ crowd! Given the vote based democracy and majority’s saffron worshiping mania, that would be the challenge of the century for any govt. As you can see there are a few positive turns the government has taken such as not listening to Mahanayaka recommendation when appointing AG, dealing with ad-hoc temples/ statues, releasing military occupied lands and roads, but then again when dealing with three fourth saffron worshipers, it takes time as it need to be trodden smartly. They may have done some blunders while doing so, but I am sure the original intentions are not yet lost.

I wouldn’t rush to any conclusions as yet OC, despite what you said seems plausible. Look, already there are severe cracks in this ‘sanga harthal’ due on the 20th. Imagine its success under the MR regime! I believe Sri Lankans, at least a fair number, are slowly transforming from the Truth-Default position to Coherence and Authenticity stage. They once believed whatever the supreme king and his henchmen preached (Truth-Default: no suspicion-easy acceptance). The end result was utter chaos in day-to-day life that led to Aragalaya. So now, still with fresh memories of bankruptcy, people have switched to Coherence and Authenticity mode (trust whose actions are consistent with their practice). Most people are seeing the distinction between the two systems now because they have seen the two different backdrops the stages were dressed with, within a very short period. Seems to me the masses are beginning to apply it to religion/priests as well, because the track records of these rotten scumbags have already well proved who they are, and now reflected in many public opinion forums!

Ms. Tisaranee Gunasekera
You are vomiting your anti-Buddhist rhetoric again!!! What is wrong with Maha Sangha whose ancient monk generations traditionally held advisory positions for all Sinhalese kings having an assembly at the All Ceylon Buddhist Conference Hall? Even European settler colonists could not break the intricate connection between Buddhist monks and politics in Ceylon.
I have read many of your previous articles against Buddhist monks and this is not the first time it occurred to me that you have absolutely no knowledge of the significantly critical role played by our Maha Sangha between 1640 and 1948 by successfully resisting, influencing, collaborating, engaging, resiliently adapting, participating and advising in European settler colonist’s administration and policy decisions to protect Buddhism, Buddhist rituals, customs and Sinhalese indigenous cultural identity in the country. It was their advocacy for nationalism and active engagement in building political literacy among Sinhalese which ultimately led to the regaining control of the country to Sinhalese in 1948.
In addition, the contributions made by our Maha Sangha throughout our history in recording and preserving Tipitaka (Pali Canon), Sinhalese chronicles, B7ddh8st classics, poetry and prose were profound. No other country in Asia had the vast Buddhist literature archives preserved by our Maha Sangha.

The truth Tisaranee Gunasekere doesn’t reveal is that Bandaranaike-Chelvanayakam Pact was Bandaranaike’s attempt to give a federal-style autonomy a.k.a. Tamil Eelam to Tamils. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s “13th Amendment Plus One” pledge to India that the APRC was formulating prior to the 2006 war had the same agenda. However, the war ended abruptly with the death of Prabhakaran. If he was captured alive, it was highly likely that he would have been pardoned. The then Army Commander and the Brigadiers/Major Generals who engineered a successful final phase of war against LTTE terrorists knew better. We owe them a great deal.

What SWRDB offered was District Councils with limited powers and a degree of autonomy.
A federal state is far more than that. It is one of several federal states on equal footing that constitute the federation.
You have a choice: You may stop lying or stop being stupid.
/
Mallaiyuran / February 20, 2026
Confusion and Frustration in Political Discourse:
The discussion surrounding the powers and autonomy of District Councils often leads to confusion and frustration. There appears to be a lack of clarity regarding the exact nature of these councils and their intended purpose. The situation is further complicated when voices dominate the conversation, leaving others, like Champawati, feeling compelled to surrender rather than participate meaningfully.
Historical Proposals and Their Implications:
Questions arise regarding the illumination of issues that were never fully resolved or understood. For instance, consideration is given to what the country would have looked like if only two or three states existed, as SWRD initially proposed for Ceylon in the 1920s. The history of council proposals is complex: the District Council was suggested in the Dudley–Chelva Pact, the Regional Council in the Banda–Chelva Pact, and the Indo–Lanka Pact introduced the concept of Provincial Councils.
Criticism of Ideological Approaches:
“Shame on you for cheating people like this with Karlmarxism, learned from London Mechanical School, Man!” There is strong criticism toward those perceived to be manipulating discussions with ideological concepts unfamiliar to them. The call is for individuals to refrain from engaging in topics they do not fully understand, so that meaningful and constructive conversations, reminiscent of earlier days, may resume.

Champa dear,
“this is not the first time it occurred to me that you have absolutely no knowledge of the significantly critical role played by our Maha Sangha between 1640 and 1948 “
Why do you forget their most heroic effort in 1959 when they shot the Prime Minister? And who planned it but the chief monk of Kelani Viharaya, aided by his girlfriend. Whatever happened to the monk who raped a 15 year old girl a couple of years ago? And the London monk who raped a 11 year old?
As of recent data, there are reports indicating that around 38 Buddhist monks are in prisons in Sri Lanka as convicts and suspects for various charges.
Did their activity help to “protect Buddhism, Buddhist rituals, customs and Sinhalese indigenous cultural identity in the country. “?

Between 1640 and 1948, Sinhalese Buddhist monks were sent to jail for resisting imperialism.
In the recent past, some Buddhist monks were selectively sent to jail for exercising freedom of speech and religion.
Re: the assassination of Bandaranaike, there were 30-40 people in the verandah with Bandaranaike when four shots were fired at him. I do not think there has been a proper investigation as to why nobody, including eyewitnesses, tried to stop the “assassin” or at least warn Bandaranaike or the police.

Sadampi seems to be the best teacher for you. If you refuse to accept the Langkang courts’ verdict, they will send you where they sent Ranjan Ramanayake. Dependents said there was some Siri Ma O’s activities induced the monks to commit the murder. It was suggested those monks were involved with women and illegal trades. Those were courts matters, and they were passed after the verdict was delivered. So will be better off by not talking about them.

Continuation….
The Pissan Kotuwe saffron-robed who raped a minor was a paid coolie of Rajapaksas who was tasked to mock Buddhist sermons. He was spared arrest by Gotabhaya.
There are still other saffron-robed people like Rajangane and the X, Y, Zs who are paid to stain the reputation of Buddhism and distort the teachings of Lord Buddha. They all should have been expelled from monkhood.
Then, there are others such as Pitaduwe and Kiribathgoda who practise Jainism and run businesses and temple franchises under the patronage of politicians.
In the recent past, Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka have been widely used by local and foreign money launderers to legalize their dirty money.
Re: the London rapist, I am not sure about UK laws. But, the Sri Lanka law applies to all rapists including saffron-robeds, pastors, poosaris and lebbes equally. If rapists are at large, you need to hold the police and courts responsible, not the Sanga society and laymen.

Champa,
That idiot is only good at cherry-picking useless statistics. Old Codger’s religion allow young girls to be sold and trafficked. CT has published numerous articles about it.
https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/reform-is-impractical-the-mmda-must-be-repealed/
https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/the-urgent-need-to-reform-the-muslim-marriage-divorce-act/
“This Constitutional loophole has rendered the MMDA immune to judicial review, effectively creating a parallel legal system where Muslim women are denied the protections afforded to every other Sri Lankan.”
There is much more to this story. 300M million words could not describe it. I have personally interacted with Pakistanis (largest group of Muslims) in the UK, so I can tell you the level of abuse in these marriages is exponential. It all goes back to their Holy Book and Prophet. This is not one or two Mufti’s behaving badly, their religion basically says women are property.

Oh my dearest Les,
I forgot to send you a Valentines message,. Sorry, but I can arrange chocolates for you. With nuts, naturally.
Who is this Muslim codger irritating you, dear?
Anyhow, here you are having just last week described someone’s wife as a street where simply because he doesn’t talk to you, jumping in to defend the Sangha against all comers. Is is because of your common interest in children? If so, I understand. An adult would notice that one of your appurtenances is missing, yes?

Hello Old nutleyinwanni,
My youngest brother had an unfortunate accident whilst climbing a tall fence as a child. This resulted in the Surgical removal of one “Brazil”. However he is the proud Parent of 5 Girls and one Boy and now has many Grandchildren and a few Gt Grandchildren. The loss of one “appurtenance” was never a problem for him.

“Re: the London rapist, I am not sure about UK laws”
In case you don’t know, the rapist hamuduruwo spent several years in jail in UK, but on his return here was lionized by your great Sinhala Buddhist Mahinda.
“But, the Sri Lanka law applies to all rapists including saffron-robeds, pastors, poosaris and lebbes equally.”
But if 95% of the number of priests in jail in jail are Buddhist monks, why not blame the Sangha?

Hello OC,
The Roman Catholic Church in the UK for many years covered up the horrendous Crimes committed by Catholic Priests and Nuns.
Social Services, Education Departments and to a lesser extent the Police turned a blind eye to these crimes. Even now despite the huge amount of Evidence gathered by the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry they have still not come to a conclusion (they are at Phase 10) after 12 years of Investigations – https://www.childabuseinquiry.scot/evidence-library
Recently this was posted -“‘The promotion of criminal investigations and prosecutions is not part of SCAI’s Terms of Reference.
–
‘However, fresh prosecutions of both these paedophiles followed the exposure of their behaviour through the Inquiry’s investigations and presentation of evidence” – https://www.childabuseinquiry.scot/news/scottish-child-abuse-inquiry-publishes-fifteenth-volume-case-study-findings
Is it time for Sri Lanka to open their own Child Abuse Inquiry?

Mahinda Rajapaksa is not a Sinhalese or a Buddhist. If you do not believe me, read a comment written by nimal fernando about Gotabhaya suggesting that he is more Malay than any Malay. Didn’t you guys tell me about 9 years ago on this very forum that Mahinda was a rapist too?
For the last two decades, Buddhist monks were sentenced to jail mostly for political reasons and also to please Tamil and Muslim politicians and their diaspora. I find it very strange that none of the Catholic pastors attended the Sunday mass on that particular Easter Sunday in 2019 which suggests that they had prior knowledge of the suicide attacks targetting church attendees.

Champa,
“Mahinda Rajapaksa is not a Sinhalese or a Buddhist. “
If that is so, why did the Mahanayakas keep supporting him? Are they also Malays? It wasn’t me that voted for him, it was people like you.
“none of the Catholic pastors attended the Sunday mass on that particular Easter Sunday in 2019 “
What rubbish. How can you have a Sunday mass without a pastor?

Mahinda Rajapaksa is not a Sinhalese or a Buddhist . 🤣😂😅
Chimpa should have said this during Gotha’s time.
Gotha under oath claimed
“I ‘m a born SB,
raised as SB ,
studied in SB school , follow SB ,
elected by 6. 9 Million SB and
here to provide nothing but prosperity and splendor to SB
. 😅😂🤣
Was Gotha and Rajapaksas lying ???
No pastors attended is BS similar to
hiding in the dark under OT bed while
Dr. Shafi performed thousands of
tubal ligations. .

Champa,
If you think that the Sinhala monks are so great, how is it that they have land, temples, and vehicles in their own names, when the Vinaya Pitakaya expressly forbids them from even handling money? That’s a funny kind of morality, where you can own a house but not cook in it, nor drive a car that you own.

In other news, the CID has finally apologised to stand-up comedian Natasha Edissooriya for arresting her a couple of years ago. That supreme racist a** hole of a “monk” Balangoda Kassapa was a prime mover in that affair, and got a good taste of his own medicine recently. But these yellow Ayatollahs must pay for the damage they do to people like Natasha.

Hello Champa,
You sound like the Christian Apologists on YouTube (like Deconstruction Zone) that twist and turn and never answer questions directly.
If you were practising this – “Active reading is an engaged, intentional, and critical process of reading with a purpose, moving beyond passive scanning to deeply understand, evaluate, and retain information. It involves interacting with the text through techniques like questioning, annotating, summarizing, and note-taking to transform content into personal understanding”, then you would have plenty of well-informed answers to Native Vedda’s questions.
In addition you should be able to provide References that back up your conclusions/determinations.

TG clearly has a strong vendetta against the Rajapakses. But that is not the issue. The real issue is that she does not give them credit for permanently ending eradicating Tamil terrorism, which is the root cause of the country’s present state. Chamath Palihapitiya, no fan of Rajapakse, acknowledged in an interview that only by “playing dirty”, was GR able to militarily decimate the LTTE. MR being a lawyer (= bend rules) and Gotha having a military background going back to the 80’s – this was the formula for success.
The other issue is that TG only portrays the Tamils as victims. She does not mention their ridiculous demands, such as 50-50, rejection of federalism (in 1923), etc. She does not mention that SJV signed the Vaddukodai Resolution, a blueprint for separation. She does not mention that low-caste Tamils living in Colombo had more rights than Tamils living under the thumb of Vellalar thugs in the North.
She does not mention how Indian intervention prolonged the war by at least 2 decades. Instead, attributing the war primarily to some regulation that acknowledged the native tongue of 70% of the population.

The recent peace march in the US was much talked about & many non Buddhists became aware of Buddhism, even though there was no Buddhist sermons or efforts to convert, & it was totally non political. In UK, Amarawathie, a Buddhist monastery started by an American monk, Ven. Sumedho, & funded by the Thai Govt. in the early 80s, is a popular venue even among non Buddhists who attend meditation classes & ‘retreats’, as well as, dhamma talks. These monks do not handle money, have no possessions of their own apart from the robes they wear & the bowl. They walk barefoot in the summer & lead a simple life as preached.by Buddha. They have no political affiliations or ‘nationalistic’ feelings because, to them, everyone is the same. They left the material world in search of ‘inner’ peace..

These monks should be the role models for SL monks who travel around in luxury SUVs, dabble in politics & even engage in business enterprises. They are, in fact, power brokers, who the politicians pay homage to. They are unaware that their objective is to provide spiritual guidance. The monks on the march gained the respect of the people in the towns they walked through with their humbleness & compassion but in SL, even thugs in robes like Gnanasara are venerated & we proudly call SL a Buddhist country, even claiming the Sinhala race as the saviours of Buddhism.
Those few in the ‘Bible belt’ who opposed the march had stupid arguments but many Sinhala Buddhists are no better.

Sri Lanka Needs Dignity in Politics — Not Endless Blame
–
If we truly want a better Sri Lanka, we must stop tearing down people’s character for political gain.
A nation cannot heal or progress through constant accusations, exaggerations, and public humiliation.
*
The National People’s Power (NPP) came to power criticizing former leaders and parties. Criticism is part of democracy—but governing is different from campaigning. Real leadership requires action, reform, and accountability, not continued blame.
*
Sri Lanka, like any country, has good and bad politicians, public servants, professionals, and citizens. No group is entirely corrupt or entirely pure. Simplifying complex realities for political advantage only deepens division.
*
During his 26-month tenure, Ranil Wickremesinghe introduced numerous laws and reforms. Some of the progress we see today builds on that foundation. Fairness demands that we acknowledge continuity instead of rewriting history for popularity.
*
Now that they are in power, leaders such as Anura Kumara Dissanayake must respond to criticism with results—not rhetoric. Pointing fingers may win votes, but it does not build a nation.
–
Srilanka deserves:
• Accountability without revenge
• Reform without propaganda
• Leadership without arrogance
• Unity without divisio
*
Let us raise our political standards. Our country deserves dignity, honesty, and mature governance—not endless political warfare.

The Canon lady’s hate of Tamils, frozen behind the ribbons, will not burn when the body is cremated at the last fire. As they say in the North East, everything will burn, but the secret hate hiding in the rib bones will wake up and sit up straight in cryometry pyre over, in the middle of the night. Anybody can sing or dance, but that is the natural verdict. Her long stand that the Tamil king divided the well-organized rowdy bald head group by caste is a bloody lie. She wrote this to hear hurray shouting from JR’s, Valaiththodam Sr’, Evil Emperor’s devotees and disciples. She is very smoothly pricking this needle into these imbeciles’ minds. The Tamil King was brought by a group of Bald Heads to keep manipulating the Kingdom in their way. Hindu Kingdoms in S. India had long waned after Chola. Bald heads, without any correcting authority, controlled the king their way from start and ended it with capturing and handing over him to foreigners. Ehelepola and Pilimatalawe settled their accounts by cutting the children’s heads and forcing the mothers to grind them in the wooden motor. Kashyapa Put his father in the Dam wall of Kalawewa. Then they wrote a bogus history that the king had excess sexual temptation, tried to rape the Ehelepola’s wife and stopped by her brother. But no Artifacts are present!

The Canon Lady all these times putting it as Leader Pirapharan throned Old Rowdy to the new Kingdom of Langkang. But her new avatar of saving Pirapharan comes from the realization of the Evil Emperor that the UNP was completely eaten up by the elites controlling it. He recently said he is going to teach the juniors honest politics and is going to retire from it. Evil Emperor … Teaching Politics for the yet to be Sinhala Buddhists? Comedy Thamai……..! He still can’t understand how the Sinhala royal families of the UNP-SLFP union harvested the country and roasted in the skillet and ate it. It is no longer going to germinate. If nothing comes out of the current ruling team, The Sinhala Buddhist bald heads, Royal and Lords Duchess like Tisaranee Gunasekara have been sowing hate will finish the country. It was JR who created Sinhala ONLY in 1944. It was he who organized the Kandy march. Tisaranee will be happy to loan that deed to all beggars standing on the Pettah, but that only past Old UNP’s politics. UNP is the only one, from Don Stephen to Evil Emperor, who started and grew destructive politics. Muslims still hateful of Tamil for having saved Don Stephen out of British Prison. But Tisaranee is like the one who targeted Pirapharan for their heinous deeds.
/
Mallaiyuran / February 17, 2026
When JR’s troop sent to Kandy, like Old Rowdy sent his henchmen from Temple Tree House to hack the Protestors of 2022, on the way Solomon West launched his loyal Rowdies over the JR’s marching Bald Heads in 1957. That ended Solomon, the Bald heads organized and ended Solomon’s history. Tisaranee Gunasekara can play her fiddle as long as she wants. But she must start to realize that playing fiddle on the Colombo media did not work in 2005, 2010, 2014, 2019 and 2024. Evil understands that his revengeful, hateful history has come to an end. Tisaranee Gunasekara’s hurray shouters have to invent some honest, intelligent path to beat the NPP. At this time NPP’s support is 65%. But AKD came to power only with 45%. That kind of growth is a new history in Langkang politics. The NPP taught at the public meeting masses politics and turned violent out of control of ghost ships’ masts. Now Playboy minister challenges, he has money to hire 3,000 teachers and teach politics for masses. Same with Tisaranee Gunaseka, he failed to understand if they taught the masses honest politics, who is the one who has gone to be hurt. This sounds like the Pastor who taught not killing and vegetarianism in a meeting. When the wife went home, she opened the coop where the Pastor had closed a chicken for dinner.
/
Mallaiyuran / February 17, 2026
Tisaranee Gunasekara for the last two decades taught Sinhala Buddhists about Pirapaharan. Tisaranee Gunasekara taught honest politics for Sinhala Buddhists for a long time. But they imported poop from China and bankrupted the country. All she achieved was she ensured Old Rowdy or his gang would win the EP election. There was only one way for her to rescue herself, that is she blamed it was Pirapharan who defeated the Evil Emperor. That is great, because while Tisaranee was on the full swing of the campaign for Evil Emperor, Leder Piraharan, who does not speak Sinhala or English, used only Sinhala Buddhists’ votes and defeated Evil Emperor. (If somebody has something called brain, thinking that they are too cunning for enemies to catch them and talk about some stupidity like these. If the Pundits of Sinhala Buddhism refuse to understand the fundamentals of politics, how will the Langkang get liberated from China’s ownership? Don Dharmapala sold the Kotte for the price of a Portuguese Home aid girl. She took the title of the kingdom and handed it over to the Netherlands. Old Rowdy sold the Hangbangtota, Colombo Pong Cins, and all the country’s highways to China only for some money to deposit in foreign banks.
