‘It’s The Government That Destabilizes The Country’ – LfD

By Colombo Telegraph

“Responding to the statement of the Defence Secretary that some  local and foreign elements are trying to destabilize the country through the Judiciary, Lawyers for Democracy asks how a Secretary to a Ministry, being a public official, makes such an  irresponsible political statement.” says Lawyers for Democracy.

Issuing a statement Lawyers for Democracy (LfD) reminds the public that it is  the Executive, through selected Members of Parliament in the legislature, that has taken a series of major steps, including an unwarranted politically  motivated impeachment of the Chief Justice, to undermine the democratic values of the country. These actions have exposed Sri Lanka for further scrutiny by the international community, who are under international legal obligations to ensure that the member states follow these international obligations. The manner in which the Executive and the state media behave establishes that the Government has destabilized Sri Lanka and its constitutional values. The Lawyers for Democracy states in no uncertain terms that  it is the Government and not some of the national or international elements, that are trying to destabilize the country.

“Further, the Lawyers for Democracy reminds the public that the State of Sri Lanka  is different from the ruling political party and the Government, who are expected to protect the constitution, without intentionally violating the values guaranteed in the constitution.” LfD further says.

Dear CT editor, it is the RAJAPAKSE BROTHERS that destabilize the country with their greed for money and power, and their colossal ignorance and lack of education about the meaning of DEVELOPMENT!

Thank god these the Lawyers for Democracy are EDUCATING THE PEOPLE ON THE REAL SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY AND doing what the parliamentary opposition under the moronic knave Ranil Wickramasinghe and the foolish power hungry and incompetent Sajith Premadasa are NOT doing! The UNP has become a totally anti-people and elitist party. The new Battle for Lanka is the PEOPLE VERSUS THE CORRUPT POLITICIANS, RAJAPAKSE FAMILY AND STOOGERS.
The bribe giver and bribe taker are equally responsible for bribery and corrupt. It was Mahinda Rajapakse who tried to bribed the CJ and her husband by offering Pradeep Kariyawasam the lucrative post of the NSB Chairman. Hence, Rajapakse should be impeached for corruption FIRST.

Sadly your assumption on the UNP is a little too premature, even if its leader and deputy are a little out of touch. It is now for the really committed within that party to be given the chance to show what they are made of. It will happen in 2013, trust me.

The Rajapakse regime is not the same as the country of Sri Lanka. It is the regime which is destabilizing the country by its unlawful actions. Blaming things on International Community and Locals is a stale tune composed by Modawanse, Ranawaka et al. Gotabaya is also part of this racist clique.

      Safa:

      You are missing the point.

      Gota’s point is

” We are doing it alright. Why should the foreigners detabilise the country and get the credit for it?”

Think parochial. You will get his point.

Sri Lanka does not need foreign elements to destabilise the country. The state itself and its rulers have been the source of destabilisation for many decades. Sri Lankan state thrives on creating its own disharmony. In fact the very existence of the state depends on fear.

All depots need scapegoats in the form of enemies internal or external. to justify and prolong their dictatorship.

The source of destabilisation lies elsewhere.

I do not think we should take Gota’s statement seriously when he himself is one element among many, but a portent one at that.

Having spent last few weeks back in SL, being able to speak to some (average), I do feel the same -that they the govt elements destabilise the country. Now the many that danced themselves only focusing about the war victory seem to be realizing that the Raja families are just abusers. I happened to pass a place where Lamboginis were desplayed and people had gathered to see them and make photos with tremored by loud music, as the average face no badagini.

Pvt buses that I used for my own travel ( 2-3 times ) are filled with unbearable louds – as driver and controller are deaf. Passengers stay silent as they enjoy those music but there realiy should be the opposite – ear drums could easily be damaged and they could casue ear problems.

City areas are very loud with music – I wondered how customers could feel comfortable. I have not seen this anywhere in the world. But people say nothing.

When the going gets tough for the regime it starts the scaremongering and blaming of foreigners for all its ills.

The LTTE bogey is increasingly being mentioned almost four years after “comprehensively” defeating/eliminating it. This gives it justification to rule with an iron fist when widespread public unrest against some of its actions/ economic woes start to bother the masses. Foreign interference is a well established and time tested accusation that works well with the Sinhala masses, especially with the pseudo-patriots.

Rajapaksa’s seem entrenched in their own political philosophy that is based on the concept or belief that they are the center of power and hence the State. When they refer to destabilization of the country by local and foreign elements the underlying truth is their knowledge of the lurking insecurity to their own power base through issues spawned by their own mismanagement and greed for total power by trying to stifle the judiciary.

Gota’s dream state is the Permanent Ouucpation of Sri lanka under MARA,GOTA,BARA,CHAMA,…. craving people to accept that the Rajapakses are the Saviors of Sri Lanka…..and nobody else.

Anybody oppose to their false ideology is either a Terrorist or treasonist betrayer or a foreign conspirator….or a regime Changer.

Recent speaches give by Gota say it all clearly…….and will not stop at anything to move away from what he said including using…..state terrorism to suppress any peoples uprising against their ideology.

Recent attakes both in Jaffna and colombo university students, white van abductions, inpresionments, against Judges and judcial officers, are few of them.

MEANWHILE THE MOST GRUESOME ISSUE IS THE RECENT OVER 15 HARD CORE MURDER CONVICTS BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM WELIKADA PRISON AND THEIR WHEREABOUTS ARE UNKNOWN. THE SPECULATION IS THEY COULD BE USED FOR VARIOUS GOVT. CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES AGAINST ANY OPPONENTS THAT GOTA.FEELS AS A THREAT TO THE DICTATORIAL REGIME.

There are some basic queations that opposition parties should answer and prepared for.
    —————————————————————————————————
1)Given January.10th 1013 if Govt. Parliament issue the verdict as CJ is guilty and should vacate her position…..similar to PSC ruling……what is opposition parties plan to do………

2)Is opposition parties plan to cordinate trade unions, Clergy, students unions, professionals and general public to protest against the verdict…..

3)Is opposition parties planning to educate International community,UN, CW and SL Diaspora community on the danger of the Verdict….and how Govt.try to suppress liberty and justice in Sri Lanka.

4)If mad GOTA plan to unleash violent suppressions against peoples protests……what action opposition parties plan to take for safety of CJ, Judiciary, Supreme Court and the Buildings and Files and Documents…etc.

5)How opposition parties plan to keep CJ in her position intact without allowing MARA/GOTA and their Party goons from taking over CJ and judiciary powers………

6)How opposition parties plan to inform and educate public as to how public could contribute to safeguard CJ and Judiciary….and their rights.

If opposition Parties (Mainly UNP and JVP)…or anybody could answer these questions will be helpful.

WE ARE EVEN READY TO GET INTO STREETS AND WILL RALLY ROUND THE SUPREME COURT FOR SATYAGRAHA. WE WILL NEVER ALLOW MARA DICTATOR TO CHANGE CJ AND WILL FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS TO THE END.

BOTH UNP AND JVP ALONG WITH ALL TRADE UNIONS SHOULD TAKE A STRONG PRIORITY TO ORGANISE MASS DEMONSTRACTIONS AND INFORM US CITIZENS HOW TO JOIN YOU.

ALSO KEEP INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND UN INFORMED TO COME TO OUR RESCUE IF GOTA PLANS TO UNLEASH HIS UNDERWORLD THUGS, SIMILAR TO WELIKADA PRISON MASSACRE TO DISRUPT OUR DEMONSTRACTIONS AND HURT OUR LIVES.

    This is Very Important……..

EVERY PATRIOT SHOULD COME FOREWARD TO SAFEGURAD CJ, JUDICIARY, OUR LIBERTY AND CITIZEN’S RIGHTS.

Any group of people with the name DEMOCRACY at the end is CHURCH affiliated. It is the same with various groups without boarders.

Only thing I Say Rajapakse GREED is ruining Sri Lanka making it vulnerable for groups with other interests.

Will you be happy if they change their names to klepto-theocracy?

GR’s harangue is aimed more to deflect the ghastly performance of the economy that hits each and every citizen in the country. The recent
petrol hike by Rs.10/litre has sent the CoL skywards. If a simple parcel of Rice, sold until last month between Rs.100-125, is now being sold between Rs.175-250 then even the usually passive citizen will soon get into the streets – out of hunger and poverty. The strategy so far adopted to mobilise the kudu-Mervin kind of gangster brigades may not hold permanently.

The regime is doing everything to invent bogeys to divert the attention of the suffering and desperate majority. The latest is to work mass-hysteria in the deceitful canard of the re-emerging of the LTTE. It is reported in a recent demonstration of students in Jaffna the Army got some of their proxies to carry LTTE flags. In Colombo and elsewhere in the South notices and leaflets are being flooded aimed at
creating fear among the Sinhalese that the Tamil political parties, the diaspora, student groups and even Sinhala TU and student groups in the South are part of a tiger-inspired foreign conspiracy aimed at regime change. Such tactics have succeeded earlier and there is room to be believe it can hold the Sinhala masses down – again. But even the best engineered strategies in similar cases have failed. All it requires is a nationally acceptable leader figure to emerge to articulate the growing and increasing list of the citizen’s problems.

2013 may be a far more difficult year for The Family.
