Former front-liner of the Jathika Hela Urumaya and founder of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU), Udaya Gammanpila today said that he has received death threats to leave the country.

Speaking at a media breifing, Gammanpila said that his wife has received death threats from anonymous callers who have said that he and his two children will be killed if they do not migrate.
Meanwhile, at the press conference he also had a racist take on the victory of the newly elected President Maithripala Sirisena, claiming he is the ‘first President to not receive the majority of the majority community. . .’
He went on to state that they would offer their support to implement Sirisena’s 100-day program but added that in the meantime, they will be working towards establishing a ‘patriotic government’ in Sri Lanka in another 97 days.

He never took up an open challenge from JHU to publicly debate his double-cross giving some lame excuse.

He is very ambitious and that is why he double crossed JHU and its leaders. He aligned with MR who was expecting to win somehow (?) and all their plans seems to have failed and had to pretend as transferring power smoothly. I never like JHU hardline principles at the beginning – but having closely studied the way Mr Ranawaka present his views by going through all facets of a problem – I felt, he could even become the head of state of the country oneday.
